- Thanks castbury for helping out and letting us know the great news. When I first spoke to her finder I did say to him to contact the DW for the area she was found. Finder has done a brilliant job and it paid off for him, WELL DONE and THANK you again. Great when oldies are reunited with their owners. Welcome home girl sending you lots of hugs and cuddles from everyone on DL. Jan x

- jackalee, thats quite a story.most dog wardens are very helpful and probably do their job for the love of animals. there are some lovely ones who use doglost. i think 7 days is'nt long enough to keep a dog before rehoming oreven worse pts., especially if dogs have been stolen and dumped miles from home-what chance do they stand. we are supposed to be a nation of dog lovers.

- Oh and thank you Castbury for letting us know about this little lady. So glad the finder didn't give up :)

- That is just the best news, so glad she has found her way home.
dewilliams42, a friend of mine had a similar incident with the DW lately. A collie came into the garden couldn't find the owner so did the right thing and called the DW. DW came and wanted to take it but this dog was so well looked after the finder didn't want it to go to the dogs home but couldn't keep it herself. Meanwhile a local lady 2 streets away has 2 collies of her own and offered to look after it until the owner was found, as long as the DW knew where the dog was they didn't think this would be a problem. The DW went mental and wanted to report them for trying to steal the dog - what, they were only trying to help!!! Thankfully, while they were arguing, the real owner of the dog turned up who lived just further down the street. Just one bad experience for all the good that most DW's do but I don't think they will forget this and have said they will not call the DW in the future :(Last edited: 2011-06-12 00:56:52 by Jackalee (Kathryn) - Area Co-ordinator - Greater Manchester - 2011-06-11 19:29 Goldenfrodo

- DO YOU KNOW WHETHER FOUND POSTERS HAVE BEEN PUT IN THE SERVICES-PROBABLY HAVE.
- 2011-06-11 17:32 castbury
- I did wonder if that was the case - that she escaped at the services. This is why all my pets are microchipped. Fingers crossed someone comes looking for her :-( x

- OH I SEE. IF NO ONE HAS REPORTED A DOG MISSING I CANNOT SEE WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU WANTING TO HELP. I WONDER IF THE DOG ESCAPED FROM A CAR IN THE SERVICES? I HAVE A 14 YEAR OLD JACK RUSSEL AND I WOULD BE HEARTBROKEN IF SHE GOT LOST AT HER TIME OF LIFE.

- The finder did contact the dog warden in Chester and was told that the dog would go into kennels and would be pts in 7 days if not reclaimed. The finder doesnt want that to happen. I despair that nobody chipped the dog or even had a collar with tag on it. Seems such a shame - but I am willing to look after it on a temp basis if it saves her life x
- 2011-06-11 16:29 dewilliams42
- HAS ANYONE REPORTED THEIR DOG MISSING TO THE DOG WARDEN IN CHESTER? COULD'NT HE OR A HELPER FROM THAT AREA PUT A POSTER IN THE SERVICES AND ELSEWHERE IN CASE SOMEONE IS LOOKING-DOG LOOKS WELL FED. WHAT KENNELS IN THAT AREA WOULD TAKE IN STRAYS-SURELY WARDEN COULD ENQUIRE IF ANYONE HAS BEEN ASKING? IN THE MEANTIME WHAT IS WRONG WITH CASTBURY FINDING TEMPORARY ACCOMODATION WHILE THE SEARCH GOES ON. AFTER ALL SOMEONE COULD BE DESPERATELY SEARCHING FOR HER ESPECIALLY IF SHE IS AN OLDER DOG. 7 DAYS IS NOT LONG ENOUGH SOMETIMES TO FIND THEIR HOME.

- I've just spoken to the finder who had contacted Oldies Club - we can't take her on but have asked him to forward pictures and information ontoo me so I can put her on a few rescue helper sites. He cant keep her more than a couple of days as he has a young baby in the house and obviously this dog is unknown round children. If owner can't be found I have offered a temporary home to her if that would be acceptable. He did contact the dog warden but he was told he would have to take her back to Chester and if she wasnt claimed in 7 days she would be pts.

- Thanks Angus for adding the details.
I've not long finished speaking to her finder and given some advice of who to report her found to. WELL DONE and THANK YOU to him for taking the time to pick her up, she was near very busy traffic. She has been checked for a Chip at the vet and finder is looking after her.
I've updated the details, re Chip/Tattoo and added the postcode she was found. Just on my way out and will not be home until late this evening, I'll contact her finder a.s.a.p.
Now that she is on DL hopefully someone will recognise her or report her missing to the DW. Jan x
