So very sorry to read that Winnie didn't make it home and I share your anger with Network Rail, and others involved for the delay in notifying you, but at least now you have closure.

R.I.P Winnie, run free at Rainbow Bridge sweetheart
Meru
So very, very sorry to hear Winnie did not make it home - RIP sweetheart xx

I feel that it is not just network rail at fault but also the company who collected her body from the train track, as they assumed because she had no collar on that she was a stray and did not scan her body for a micro chip. Having done this would have saved a months worth of heartache.

So sorry - RIP Winne. Liz xx

so sorry to hear about Winnie - R.I.P. Winnie, run free, run pain free over the rainbow bridge xx

I share your tears- it must be awful!! And your anger about the delay in notifying you. It is bad enough that the railway does not ensure that the tracks are safely fenced off- children can get onto them too! But to let you wait this long...only pet owners and lovers know what you are feeling. My thoughts are with you.

I am so angry beyond words with Network Rail. I am determined to make this company have more compassion for our dogs! I will not give up. I am so sick of these poor dogs being killed or hurt by trains and the owners so grief stricken and anguished by all that has happened. There are some lovely rail workers out there, I speak from experience, but we need more of them. I was so scared that this had happened to Winnie. I am so very glad that owners have now been informed, but so sad it took so long. Owners, the pain of losing a dog like this is almost too much to bear, I know, but never knowing would be far worse. My heart goes out to you. You can rest assured that Winne is safe now in the arms of God. And, she WILL ALWAYS be yours - I promise you. May God bless you and help ease your pain. Winnie will never leave you, she loves now just as much as ever and will wait for you at Rainbow Bridge - never to be parted again. I'm going to e-mail you something, it may help, just a little. With love, Kim x

I just wanted to let you know that I have made it home, the journey wasn't an easy one, but it didn't take too long.

Everything is so pretty here, so white, so fresh and new - I wish that you could close your eyes and that you could see it too.

Please try not to be so sad for me but try to understand - God is taking such care of me...I'm in the shelter of His hands.

Here there is no sadness, no sorrow, and no pain. Here there is no crying and I'll never hurt again.

Here it is so peaceful when all the angels sing. I really have to go for now... I've just got to try my wings.

Oh no - not another one. Poor Winnie. Why has it taken so long for Network Rail to let the owners know this dreadful news?

It is with a very heavy heart that I have to change Winnie over to rainbow bridge. The owner heard today that she had been knocked down by a train on the day she went missing. Despite contacting Network Rail regularly when Winnie went missing we have only had conformation today.
Sleep tight Winnie my thoughts are with your owners xxx

Yes Anita1 it may be worth checking the other poster are still up and not looking tatty, quite often people will see old posters but as they are looking a bit worn assume the dog has been found.... a big job I know as you have put so many up.
Come on Winnie where are you? xx
Anita1
What really bothers me is that have been no sightings of her.Hopefully somebody has taken her in. We went all the way along the train route from Acle to Norwich making sure that at every station there were posters also postered the surrounding villages. After the possible bullie found posters in Norwich went in search of them and to my horror it seems that the council may be removing the lost posters as I know the owner put loads of them up in the city centre where there are now none to be seen. I think its time to check where we have already postered just to check there are some still out there and people are aware that she is still missing.

That railway really, really bothers me. Was there any news from Network Rail? Does the station have loads of posters? If there are night railway workers and they see the posters they are more likely to help if see anything.

I have been helping owner with search including contacting vets, rspca, and dog wardens. Posters have been put up in Lingwood,Strumpshaw, Brundal,Great Yarmouth,Stalham,Potter Heigham and surrounding areas. Friends have been handing out flyers in the area as well. Concerned no sightings after two weeks on the run. Winnie also has her own page on facebook and has been listed as a missing dog in the local Ad Trader and on Bullies In Need website. Now running out of ideas.Last edited: 2011-06-21 12:29:13 by Anita1

Sorry to see Winnie is missing - please ensure you act on everything in the advice at the bottom of this page. You CAN get her home. Most important thing is to POSTER, POSTER, POSTER this will lead to sightings and then you are half way there to getting lovley Winnie home. Dogs are amazing and can survive well on the run. Leave something of your's near where she went missing so she can smell you and come back to that area. They often run scared for a bit but then they return. My only worry is the train line - you need to check with Network Rail asap. You need to know if there are any sightings by the train drivers or rail workers. Poster all round there, the railway station too and go in there to check - they can look on their computer. They need to know Winnie's out there. Please keep coming back here regularly, as we can help further as you progress. Come on Winnie sweetheart, time to come home. x
