- I am so relieved to hear that this girl with the great big expressive eyes is safe once again and enjoying the company of her doggie friends. The second search you launched was just as inspiring as the first and it was fitting that one of you was there when she was 'captured'. Well done everyone but especially STO and the wonderful, caring policeman. Welcome back sweetheart - have yourself a long, healthy and happy life, wherever it might be!Last edited: 2011-06-28 23:13:32 by Millys Mum

- I would like to thank everyone who has helped us these past 10 days, it has been a rollercoaster of emotions but with a very happy ending :) The people of Chessington, Epsom and Ewell are the best, Tori only made a couple of public appearances, but they were straight on the phone to let us know. Whilst out searching everyone I encountered knew of Tori and were keeping a lookout, this is thanks to the placement of posters and great networking. Doglost has been a great resource, both through communication and advice and we can not thank enough. As for Tori, she is safe and more importantly secure with some doggie friends for company and humans who will help her gain confidence before we find the most perfect forever home for her. Thank you all again, I have met some great people through this experience and had my faith in human nature restored xxx

- Please don't judge the owners of Tori, if a dog wants to get out and isn't comfortable then it will find any opportunity. We see this so many times and understand that they loved this doggie enough to bring her home and even after losing her once despite what people would think of them, we shouldn't judge. Especially not knowing the whle situation of both dog and owners. Let's just be pleased that she is safe xxx
- 2011-06-28 21:07 jayjay
- Thank goodness for that, now to find her a home that will love her and look after her. Maybe with another dog to keep her company as that is all she has known before.

- Just got the story from Shoot The Owner. Tori was seen by builders in the same area as we saw her last night but did a runner. Local police were called out as someone was worried she would end up on the road. Shoot The Owner arrived and one of the policemen jumped in some bushes and came out with Tori in the lead. She had some snacks from Shoot The Owner and looked very sleepy but not hurt at all hopefully. Big thanks to the local police and Shoot The Owner xx I think STO has electicity problems following todays storms but Im sure she will post as soon as she can

- Just come back from another walk, a very wet one, in Horton C.P.. Drove around the area for a while as well, when it was just pouring too hard to get out of the car, thankful my dogs take no notice of thunder. Checked around the Manor estate and Childrens farm, I assume they know about Tori, what about the David Lloyd Centre ?
- 2011-06-28 14:46 Ali-W
- Good luck with the search. A friend has a trap (local) which she would be willing to use if you need another one.
- 2011-06-28 13:30 dogbender
- Our thoughts are with Tori and hope that she is found safe and well soon but maybe these homes should be checked more thoroughly before placing timid dogs in them.
- 2011-06-28 12:41 Wizzie
- dogbender, the dog warden contacted the owner who then collected her from under a bush last time (late afternoon/evening), it was the following morning when she was left in the garden "alone" she went again.
Looks like the trap is sorted and volunteers willing to watch it, thanks everyone, Im sure it wont be long now, come on Tori your sardines are waiting xxxx - 2011-06-28 11:12 Angus

- I've walked round Horton this morning with my dogs, nothing to report sadly. Loads of posters though. I assume they know about her at the Moat garden Centre. Will contact my niece now, she is organising the show homes on the new estate next to Horton C.P. Make sure the builders there keep an eye out. Thank goodness its not so hot and getting water will be easier.

- 2011-06-27 15:27 dogbender
- It seems that only incompetent people would put a very nervous dog back into a home that she had already escaped from. Have there been any new sightings-wish that we lived nearer.

- Jenners has just spoken to a lady who has a tracker dog, she will be able to come out in a couple of hours, we just need something with her scent on. If I could ask people with dogs to stay away from the area surrounding the home until the dog has picked up the scent that would make things easier, fingers crossed x

- Unbelievable ! I e mailed friends and family in the area to say she was found a few hours ago ! Have just re-sent asking them to keep a look out again.

- Jenners pleased to here she is not going back to them. fingers crossed she will be just as lucky this time.
- 2011-06-25 15:55 Jenners - Area Volunteer, Gloucestershire
- People are out looking around that area, she would have to cross a busy dual carriageway to get there so hopefully she will stay in the Ewell / Chessington area for the moment. Hopefully will all the eyes out looking we get a sighting then we can think about traps, does anyone have one?
- 2011-06-25 15:36 Wytch
- I was just about to ask whether Tori, when found, would be going back there. If she's spent time around the Queen Adelaide/Premier Inn, is it worth setting a trap there?
- 2011-06-25 15:31 Jenners - Area Volunteer, Gloucestershire
- No Tori still isn't chipped :( everyone who helped so much in the last week has been informed, I am praying for another miracle, I just hope someone up there listens. Tori WILL NOT be going back to the idiots ! you have my assurance of that, just wish I had gone and got her last night like my conscience told me to :(
- 2011-06-25 15:20 doglady
- May be this dog is telling the owner something Like I want a good walk he would not then want to escape.

- For those going to Hook dog show if you can put a poster visible in your windscreen or under your wipers as well this will give helpful max coverage, or at Reigate fundraiser (good luck). If they have a public speaker system perhaps they could draw attention to Tori. In fact I'll get round to Hook and join in. Police not interested it is the dog wardens that need regular contact and contracted kennels that take council strays for the area if they have space. There are kennels in Chessington I went to once, can't remember where they are but they backed onto fields and wooded land? Catch you at the show waggytailsphoto!

- jayjay I know we have rung the police (more than once I think) and shoot the owner on here has mentioned talking to the patrols when they saw them, but they dont seem to be that bothered really. If anyone wants to pop in if they are near to check everyday that would be good. Battersea has been contacted.
I cant thank people enough for all you are doing, we all feel so useless as we are so far away and unable to physically look. Come on Tori, we are all waiting for you. - 2011-06-24 15:02 The Black Dog Baker
- There's a dog show at King Edward's Rec Ground, Hook Rd, Chessington tmrw (Sat) 12-4, will try to take some posters
- 2011-06-24 13:53 jayjay
- Has anybody been to the police stations in the area to see if anybody has come in with a boxer. or battersea dogs home as that is where most end up when they are found "stray". Just wondered?
- 2011-06-24 10:51 shoot the owner
- Going to start spreading the area in view of no sitings. Will do the Preston Estate and Tattenhams. Ruxley Road down to Kingston bypass and Nonsuch (Cheam) and a few more in Tadworth. Nothing yesterday drove round areas she possibly had been seen. Could some one do Ashted and Oxted area? Shep Softie has got a poster up in road sweepers depot.

- Putting a poster up at the social club at work (near Belmont) at lunchtime.

- Handed out posters to dog walkers i saw when out driving round empsom today. Also gave two stable yards the poster as horse riders may get a sighting of her. One lady was going to take them to work and school and give them to her dog walking friends. So more eyes out there.
- 2011-06-23 15:17 Unknown

- PaulaK, the poster that had been written on was on a 6' fence next to the footpath just west of the bottom end of Manor Drive, near the southern end of the lake. I checked several of the other posters in the area but no others had been written on.
No sightings today at Epsom Downs, but losts of posters up and most of the locals are aware. - 2011-06-23 01:54 shoot the owner
- When the rescue, which is in Glos, rang today they said she was one of a number of boxers that had been kept in a shed. These dogs do not get to see the light of day, have no idea what traffic is and the idea of being in a shopping area even as small as Epsom, well. Having worked and walked dogs in this area for over 12 years there is no where, as yet, traps can be set believe me, nearest woodland aea from where she has been seen is a golf course. Only possibility is Horton CP, but then traps have to be checked constantly and reset when trigged by wildlife or other dogs. She is becoming quite well known in the area now and hopefully we get more positive sitings that can be checked out asap. Will be on the Downs Thurs from 11am onwards for a couple of hours, again 07716975134 if she is seen during this time it can be checked quickly.
- 2011-06-22 23:44 jayjay
- She has been in rescue a while i think so previous owners are not on the scene. Came from a breeding kennel that got into difficulty.
- 2011-06-22 20:30 Boxacrazy
- The most sensible course of action would be to ask Tori's previous owner to walk their dogs in the area that Tori has been sighted to allow them to wee in those area's therefore Tori is more likely to return to those areas as those dogs are the ones she's most likely to remember and be drawn to. Whereas unknown dogs and people she won't be drawn back to. She needs familiar scents.

- Is that Epsom Downs you are meeting on, just be careful of the race horses they have priority and right of way till 12 or 12.30 and they go very very fast. If we can we will join you.
- 2011-06-22 17:53 Wytch
- Walked George V park again today, met a few dog walkers who are aware of the posters, many pairs of eyes out there watching for her. Saw a poster I put up yesterday had been written on....some sicko wrote "no award no dog", obviously alluding to wanting a reward. I do not believe anyone has her after last nights sighting, it's probably some sad persons idea of a "joke". Will be at Epsom tomorrow.

- Advice from somebody who has experience with finding dogs : "first thing is to get her bed or blanket and place it at one of the sightings , dogs usually follow a triangle patten, once she has been sighted a few times in the same area, traps should be set ,,, if its a woodland area perhaps a few people with dogs that can be off lead can go and sent the area x if you need any help let me no" hope this helps and if we can we will go out and look aswell, we have a very friendly boxer who we can take with us.

- Been to The Rifleman this afternoon. As it on a cross roads virtually no garden to put food down. However bar girls are dog friendly and have taken a poster. To pinpoint for others it is on the road coming down from Ewell thru one set of lights which is a right turn to Hook Road, then just before going under the bridge the pub sits on the right hand side. If you carry on straight you can then go into Epsom High St or straight over takes you to the Downs. There is an industrial estate about 200 yards up the road going back to Ewell, it has a big Sainsburys and they have very kindly let me put a poster in their store (not like a couple of other chains!!) Group of us meeting 11.00am tomorrow on Downs if anyone wants to join in, we are mostly shepherds and all coming in from surrounding areas.
- 2011-06-22 17:38 PaulaK
- Looking on google earth its worth someone talking to Sainburys as there will be someone there til late and the back of the store where all the rubbish and food waste is put out is not far from the pub. Carpark there would be quiet at night. Also talking to the staff at Mercedes

- She did not notice the collar as it was only after she had seen the dog and arrived at training that i told her about the missing girl. She then recalled she had seen this boxer but as she did not know we were looking for one she did not notice any details. She was just cross that someone had a dog off a lead on a main road! and did not seem to be anywhere near sorry. Not very helpfull i know but it could me her.

- just spoken to STO she is going to pub now to check sighting, can we just confirm that the dog the lady saw the the rifleman had orange collar - can she remember? thanks
- 2011-06-22 13:49 Unknown
- Sounds like this cute lady needs a search party, as it looks as though she has been spotted by different people in the area. Unfortunatel I live miles away. Come on Tori, where are you. And keep safe until you are foundxxx

- Posters nicely visible around the area. Gave one to a Police partrol yesterday as he was driving around Horton CP area etc and then I saw him at Epsom Downs. Traps are only feasible if they are visiting a garden as part of their route, you can't put them on a golf course etc, and out in the open the cages would go missing. Leaving in 10 mins will be out till 2.30-3 if any sitings in the area please ring 07716975134 asap and I will get there.

- it was tuesday evening as she came to training, so when i said about Tori she told me straight away. She had thought it was strange that the dog was not on a lead and nobody was near but thought the owner was in the pub. As i say my husband went out and drove all around but could not see her but this road goes from horton. Lots more eyes out now looking. People have asked on FB about dog traps can we put any of these out?

- Told all the people at my dog training tonight and they all walk around this area so all are going to look out for her. Someone had seen a boxer outside the Rifleman pub in Epsom (near high Street) this road comes straight from Horton park so could be her. My husband went out in the car and drove all around but could not see her. Have printed off posters and will take them to school and put one in my Vet who is in Fir Tree road. Will keep looking aswell.

- Thank you so much for all you are doing, I just wish she would make an appearance so we at least know we are targeting the right areas.

- Hooked up with STO at lunchtime and covered a lot of ground postering. I went out again this afternoon and postered the southern end of the park. I also bumped into a couple of the parks rangers and they have taken a couple of posters to put up in their office. They work in all the local public parks and will also keep an eye out. I've explained Tori probably won't allow them to approach her - they will call if they sight her.
- 2011-06-21 17:56 Willow
- I had a call a few years ago when someone saw a Boxer running free. We think she was dumped and had been fending for herself for a week. She was very frightened. We found the area she was running and caught her by keeping a car door open at night and put some food in the car so when she jumped in the door was shut. Perhaps if there was a red boxer in the car it might help. Just an idea, we tried every other way to catch her and it didn't work. Hope she is safe soon.

- Drove round Ewell Village and Epsom town last night and up and down and round Fir Tree. Epsom college is another place to post. Will get out shortly to poster some more. Will take a look round Pool Park just in case she's still about there. We're just getting these sightings too late. I will post up my mobile when I leave and anything happens please call and I'll get along to a spot asap.

- I have just had a call, Tori was spotted on Sunday late afternoon in Pool Road Park, Ewell. Caller said she had orange collar on, very timid, other couple were there trying to entice her with their dogs but she ran off into the park. This is a positive ID that could only be Tori.
- 2011-06-21 06:30 Boxacrazy
- As a PS these dogs aren't used to toys either. So probably won't respond to toys. Would imagine that it would be food only that may tempt her as she will be hungary by now poor love.
- 2011-06-21 06:24 Boxacrazy
- This bitch may react positively to other Boxers especially red ones (as this is what she will have almost been exclusively exposed to, I doubt that she will have experienced other dogs/breeds unless she had this in the rescue kennels from which she came from). This girl has only really known kennel environment for almost all of her life so will not have the socialisation of dogs that have been socialised in normal day to day life. She will either spook and flee or spook and freeze. She will have no road sense etc and will not have been taught recall so therefore she will probably not respond to people calling her. I really do hope Tori can be found ASAP. But dog traps may be the only way of catching her unless she follows someone with Boxers into a stable/confined area etc and the door closes to pen her in. - Hi, have RT'd. If not done already, suggest also contacting Cuddington & Banstead Downs Golf Clubs, esp if she was on the Banstead 'half' of Fir Tree Road when spotted rather than the Epsom Downs half. Will try to get out with our dog tomorrow if still missing, hope she's home safe soon.

- Have posted up 2 vets, coffee shop, bookshop, pet shop in Banstead. A couple on the Downs, Nork recreation park which is just up from the junction of Fir Tree and Reigate Road going towards Banstead. If she went left she was going towards Ewell and Epsom, worse towards the road to Kingston by pass. Passed on a few posters to display in car windows then run out. Will do another area tonight.

- Thank you all, STO all we know is that she was close to the main road by Fir Tree, this was reported to Clement Environmental. This was early evening yesterday and as it is miles from where she went missing she could be anywhere by now. I hope we get other sightings this morning with people out walking and spotting the posters.

- Need to know if she was heading up to racecourse or away from it. I'll post up in Asda and Tattenham Corner library tomorrow morning. Also have friends in Fir Tree with dogs will ring tomorrow morning and get them to keep an eye out. Need to inform Reigate and Banstead Dog Warden as she could well be heading into their territory the border is very close. Drove around Epsom, Ewell, Tadworth tonight but will try again in the morning.

- Just seen this. Will go with one of mine to have a drive round now. Fir Tree is quite a longish road. Was she heading towards the racecourse or the other way she seems to have travelled quite a way from her Horton CP.

- I have spoken to Chessington and Epsom Councils to inform them. Clement Environmental pick up the strays in this area, I have spoken to them. A scared boxer was spotted a couple of hours ago in the Fir Tree Road area of Epsom, wouldn't let people get near it. Sounds like her. She will possibly come to a friendly dog as this is what she knows.
