- Hello, Someone posted to Tameside Animal Shelter Facebook page that they found a GS male on sunday (17th July). Could this be Rocky? She drove him to Hyde to be picked up by the dog wardens. I know the advert says he is micro-chipped but it's worth another visit to Manchester dogs home because I think this is where the Tameside dog wardens take strays to.

- Thanks dali for the update. Sorry to see Rocky is still not home. The posters and getting him in any papers are the key to getting him sighted. It just takes that one person to see him as missing and make that most important call. Jan x

- Thanks everybody for your help. Unfortunately, I dont have good news for Rocky. I visited Manchester Dogs Home on Saturday. There were alot of other breeds, but no German Shepherd. I think there may have miscommunication between various parties. I was told by the lady who showed me around the home, as Rocky has been missing so long, they would have been in touch via letter a while back, as they first check all dogs for a chip, as and when they come in. - Thanks Jackalee. :)
I've just finished speaking to owner's relative who it was that you have also spoken to and is the person who registered Rocky with DL, they are having Internet problems at the moment and they have not been to MDH due to work commitments, they have contacted MDH by phone, but do need to visit in person. Have given owner's relative more advice. Jan x - 2011-06-29 22:58 Jackalee (Kathryn) - Area Co-ordinator - Greater Manchester

- Have searched ads back to 1st May - could not find anything. Maybe it would be an idea to visit pubs with poster as dogs can be sold on in tham. I am also wondering about the motorway, as this is close by. Liz xx

- Thanks Jackalee and Lizzy. :)
I've advised family to try and put a free add in any papers they can especially the free papers and ideally with a photo.
The posters and spreading the word are the key to getting him back. Someone may have picked him up and don't realise they should report him as found. Jan x - 2011-06-21 20:45 Unknown
- Because it is quite a while since he went missing I feel an add in a local paper is a good idea. I will check the free ads around that date. Liz xx

- Thanks Ashmark. :) Did not get chance to ring family last night.
Spoken to family member of owner who rang the details into Admin.
Rocky is a yard dog and has gone missing from owner's garage works yard. He has wandered off before and has normally gone toward the Town area. Have given advice of things to do and who to report him to (which has not been done up to now). He has not been reported to Chip Co yet. I'll do various size posters a.s.a.p. and also email further/info advice.
Details updated ready for email alerts to be sent out. Thanks. Jan x - 2011-06-21 17:03 AlisonH
- Spoken to owner and she is having trouble sending a photo by mobile so I have asked her to send it by email to HO.

- Sorry to see that ROCKY is missing.
- If your dog is microchipped please let the microchip company know that your dog is missing and check that all details are up to date.
- Owners targeted by a malicious hoaxer demanding money for the return of their dog should phone the police on 101 immediately and contact admin@doglost.co.uk
- A photograph of your dog is essential for the website. If you have not already uploaded one, please do so by clicking on Update details. Alternatively you can email it to admin@doglost.co.uk quoting the dog's DogLost ID number: (30520)
- Obtain a missing poster by clicking on View poster above. Posters are very important so start postering now!
- You will need to be logged in to upload photos, edit your dog's details, or add comments. You can add comments by clicking on Click here to add a comment.
- Contact dog wardens, vets and local rescue centres, and in Scotland, the Police. Give a detailed description with any distinguishing marks/scars or send them a copy of your DogLost poster. You can find vets in your area here.
- If your dog has been stolen inform the police immediately and obtain a crime reference number (CRN). Send an email to stolen@doglost.co.uk.
- If your dog is picked up and taken to rescue kennels, it can be legally re-homed after seven days. Visit rescue centres in person and do not rely on checking by phone alone. Other people may not recognise your dog by your description, so give them a DogLost poster.
- Keep us updated by keeping your dog's page up to date and check for posts from helpers who may have suggestions and possible matches or sightings
- DogLost is free and anyone asking for money to find or return your dog is not volunteering for us. If you are concerned about an approach you have received, please email admin@doglost.co.uk
