Awful. Remember she is chipped, so there is always a chance. We have had dogs come back home after a few years, so you just never know. God bless. x
Becky
Police have closed the case, they didn't really do anything and were very unhelpful. They treated the whole thing as though it was a cat stuck up a tree

At least she's chipped, so always a chance. Never give up. Any news out there? x

There is also an email address for the rescue info.rats@gmail.com I note they also have a male wesie entered as accepted on same date. Regardless of what background information the rescue has on these dogs it is important to see the dog for yourself. Although Ellie is chipped they can be missed.

I think that this extra information will help you get Ellie back, what Kimmybear says is true......so good you know where these awful people live, it's the breakthro' you needed. Keep positive, poster again and hope that the doglost co-ordinator has more advice to help you.
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
Becky, Ellie is always in the list - there are just hundreds of dogs on here that the list becomes longer and longer. Right now she has been bumped up the top because of this information, by a Co-Ordinator. x
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
Becky, you have NOT lost Ellie. This is a fantastic lead - it gives us all something to work on. It is against the law to not call the dog warden and to simply leave a dog tied up somewhere, so if that is what they are saying then that is what you can bargain with. You can maybe threaten to sue them unless they find the dog. It could work, but you need the police to work with you. DogLost and its supporters are a fantastic bunch and will continue to work with you to get Ellie home. I am sure a DogLost Co-Ordinator will call you soon, if they haven't already. Mission for helpers out there, and for you, update the posters and poster everywhere all over again, even more than before - REALLY poster heavily. Get hundreds out there. Can you notify the local papers - it may be a good story for them? Let's make Ellie far too hot to handle! Ellie, your mummy's coming to find you sweetheart. x

Becky
Last week I was contacted by the lady who was seen picking Ellie up near the A1. She had seen Ellie running in the road and was worried about her getting run over, so stopped her car to get her. She told me she'd wrapped her in a blanket as she was cold and wet and was about to take her to the vets when a white van pulled up and 2 people got out claiming Eliie was their dog and they'd been looking for her. She handed Ellie over as she believed their story, as soon as she saw the posters and realised she'd been conned she contacted me. This lady is very distraught about what happened, however she remembered where these people lived as she'd driven behind them and seen where they went.

This lady and her husband went to the home of the dog nappers to make sure it was them, they recognised each other straight away, the dog nappers claimed that they'd mistaken Ellie for their own 'identical' dog, when they realised their error they passed her on to someone else. My lady and her husband asked to see the 'identical' dog they wouldn't let show them.

Then very unexpectedly the dog napper phoned me, he said that he'd taken Ellie believing her to be his, but as he was driving home he realised that she wasn't, so he turned his van round and went back to find the lady who'd picked her up in the road. She'd gone and he didn't know what to do so he put the dog on a piece of string and went and stood outside G&M growers with a sign saying 'lost dog' within a couple of minutes an old lady aged between 50 & 70 came past and claimed the dog was hers, so he gave her Ellie. I personally think this is utter bullshit as my lady followed him home that's how she knew where he lived. I have passed all this information onto the police, this morning they went down to the dognappers with a microchip reader, there were lots of dogs, but none matching Ellie's decription, they didn't ask to see the identical dog as they didn't think it was relevant.

It's clear to me that the dog nappers have moved Ellie somewhere else, probably to some other family members. The police won't charge them with anything or investigate any further as they say there is no evidence of theft and there is nothing more they can do.

Sadly it seems we have lost Ellie for good and frustratingly can't do anything about it. It seems that you can commit a crime and make up a lie that a 5 year old wouldn't believe to get away with it!

Well done to all of you lovely helpers out there! We need loads of posters, not just where Ellie went from but further out too as we don't know the distance she could have travelled, but suspect it may still be local. We need to make Ellie so famous, whoever has her gets scared and let's her go.
Becky
Rang highways agency to see if cameras on the A1 had picked anything up, after a lot of persuading, they finally they agreed to look, but weren't overly helpful. Oh well anythings worth a try

Oh well it was worth checking out, just in case. Onwards and upwards, you mustn't give up, Ellie needs you now more than ever. Have shared on Paddys people and Alfies lost dogs. Fingers crossed she will be home soon. x

Becky
Posters up around A1 roundabout and in shops through Biggleswade
Becky
Thanks Terence, She's micro-chipped, so I think if she'd been taken to the vet we'd know by now. The day she went missing was very stormy and it was around the time it rained she was seen being put in the car. I'm guessing she was wet and thats why she was being picked up in plastic.
TerenceT
Is it possible the white dog was injured since was using a plastic sheet and it has been taken to a vet / PDSA etc.
Becky
Latest dog news. - A woman was seen by the A1 roundabout putting a white dog in her car at around the time of the storms on Tuesday. We are pretty certain that this was Ellie. She was stopped on the road and other cars were having to drive around her, she was driving a dark blue car possibly an estate. She was slim, aged mid 40's and had her hair tied back. She was picking the dog up in a dark blue plastic sheet. Other people must have seen her. She hasn't yet handed the dog in as the microchip hasn't been reported. It is a crime to pick up a dog and keep it. Please re-post.

Advice has been given on who to phone etc but most of this has already been done. Owner has my number if she needs any other advice- posters are being put up and the word spread in the area. Have advised contacting vets and kennels/dog wardens further afield in case this woman was passing through. Owner is trying to get more exact info on which direction the lady who picked Ellie up was heading and any other pertinent info.

Sorry only just seen this. Owners, if she was picked up at least she is not in the road and should be safe. Keep postering for more information as others may have seen more or seen something different. Poster. poster. poster! VERY important. Do this where she was lost and outwards for a few miles - the public is your eyes and ears. As ESSJ said, contact as many places as possible - all vets and rescues and dog wardens. If the person is looking after her, you need to make it known who/where you are (via poster) so that they can return her - sometimes people do that (see other pages on reunited). Good luck and let us know how you're getting on. x

Apparently Ellie was last seen being picked up by a lady in a white car on the A1 roundabout at Biggleswade, we still haven't heard anything, she probably thought she was doing the right thing by 'rescuing' her.
Admin
Sorry to see that ELLIE is missing.
  • If your dog is microchipped please let the microchip company know that your dog is missing and check that all details are up to date.
  • Owners targeted by a malicious hoaxer demanding money for the return of their dog should phone the police on 101 immediately and contact admin@doglost.co.uk
  • A photograph of your dog is essential for the website. If you have not already uploaded one, please do so by clicking on Update details. Alternatively you can email it to admin@doglost.co.uk quoting the dog's DogLost ID number: (30747)
  • Obtain a missing poster by clicking on View poster above. Posters are very important so start postering now!
  • You will need to be logged in to upload photos, edit your dog's details, or add comments. You can add comments by clicking on Click here to add a comment.
  • Contact dog wardens, vets and local rescue centres, and in Scotland, the Police. Give a detailed description with any distinguishing marks/scars or send them a copy of your DogLost poster. You can find vets in your area here.
  • If your dog has been stolen inform the police immediately and obtain a crime reference number (CRN). Send an email to stolen@doglost.co.uk.
  • If your dog is picked up and taken to rescue kennels, it can be legally re-homed after seven days. Visit rescue centres in person and do not rely on checking by phone alone. Other people may not recognise your dog by your description, so give them a DogLost poster.
  • Keep us updated by keeping your dog's page up to date and check for posts from helpers who may have suggestions and possible matches or sightings
  • DogLost is free and anyone asking for money to find or return your dog is not volunteering for us. If you are concerned about an approach you have received, please email admin@doglost.co.uk
