- Other Info Very scared. Please be careful to approach as she may run off and into traffic. Only 1 year old and spent nearly all of if it in kennels. She went missing with a red collar on with black paw prints on it, including a tag which had her name, “Im Chipped” and 2 contact numbers. There have been sightings of Layla in Ashburton Park and everyone I have spoken to has said she is running on a mission and not being stopped by anything. She is crossing busy roads and has nearly caused accidents.

- Louise - thanks for the reunited story and the lovely piccie of Layla with her daddy. I'm so happy for you and hope your pregnancy goes well and that you can now put your feet up rather than chasing round after the, now very famous, Layla!

- After the longest 7 days of my life, our dog, Layla returned home to us today. We had several phone calls of sightings of Layla around Ashburton Playing Fields but whilst on my way to MOT test centre with my sister, Ricky Lin called to say that while his mother in law was taking their dog for a walk, their dog ran off and chased Layla. They both went under a fence in the wood opposite Ashburton Playing Fields. Ricky's mother in law called him and they went to a poster which Ju X Ward kindly put up and called me. I immediately rang Michael who ran down to the woods (a good couple of miles). On my way back from MOT test centre I called Michael to see how he was getting on, no reply but continued to hand leaflet to fire station and went looking in the woods. Finally got through to Michael after the 5th attempt and he told me that she was home! He was going to leave it as a surprise bless him. We returned home and was greeted by Layla and he tail was wagging. She has lost a hell of a lot of weight and she has red raw sores on her paws. She is also covered in fleas :( my sister Kelly-Marie Clarricoats went to Tescos for us and got some flea shampoo, nit comb and some flea treatment. I am so relieved to have her home. I am so grateful for everyones help, it really has been appreciated. Lots of love to you all from Louise, Michael and Layla (the most famous dog in Croydon!). xxx PS The extra image is Layla reunited with dadddy Michael x

Great team work on her, well done everyone. :) Jan x - 2011-07-09 18:09 Millys Mum
- Oh wow - what great news!!! I've just received a text from Baggy Dog to tell me Layla has been found. I've just so happy for you both cos you worked so hard to get Layla back. What's the found story? Did you or your partner 'catch' her or did something else find her? I've been so worried about this girlie especially when you said she'd been spotted crossing the roads. Welcome home Layla. Stay close and safe and no more worrying your 'Mum and Dad'.Last edited: 2011-07-09 18:16:59 by Millys Mum

- Wow missed all this, the fella and his mates were there at that time throwing curry meat as a trail, hmmmm wonder if she got to eat any of it, instead of the foxes.
If she knows she can get food easily here, she will stay in this area, she probally made a den someone quiet and lays low during day, and comes out early morning and night for food.
So we need to get back there late tonight, maybe get as many people as you can covering all entrances to fields, some sitting in the playground at the top... we can get there after 11pm ( as out tonight) but hopefully she will be found by then.
Louise maybe scent the playground.... has the firestation been notified of Layla ?
Ask the Kebab shop in Bywood, if they can give you some scraps of meat..... the smellier the meat the more she will appear.

- I got a call at 12.40am this morning, a girl that lives in the estate round the back of ashburton playing fields followed Layla in the car as she ran up the busy road (long lane?) and then turned into the fields by the fire station towards the playground. She tried to stop and get her but she is too fast and the fields were pitch black. I dragged Michael out of bed and raced to the other end of the field but no sign. Put food down but think that was quickly eaten by foxes. Saw some other people coming out the block by the playground and they saw her dart across the fields following the lit path. We drove round all side roads around that area and around Shirley but we didn't see her. Julie has been amazing once again travelling quite a distance in the middle of the night in the rain to help us look. I thought i saw Layla go into a garden of a bungalow as fence slightly broken. Looked over fence and couldn't see or hear her (if she still got collar and tag on), think it may have been a fox :( saw so many last night. If you are free today would be great if we had as many people as possible trying to find her. She's deffinatly still out there! Xx
- 2011-07-09 00:20 ellejay
- I did not have to go in the end, but they over there now with titbits from the indian restaurant, hope and pray she is over there still... maybe the smell of chicken and lamb will bring her out.
- 2011-07-08 21:54 ellejay
- so disheartening for you Louise, but dont give up, i know the stress and emotions only to well, so try as hard as it is to keep well in your condition.
I am heading over Elmers End later on tonight to pick up fella from a curry house, so me and a few others are going to have a late night look round the woods and fields, and he is going to get some bits of meat from restaurant to take with us...see if she is in hiding there..
if this sightening was the other dog, we need to get postering out further afield, there is so many directions she could of taken, norwood area, beckenham, croydon, shirley.. someone must have seen her or even have her so we need her one best known girl.. and she is getting that status each and everyday with people knowing about her xx - 2011-07-08 20:57 Millys Mum
- I'm so sorry to hear that the found dog wasn't Layla but what a long and drawn-out wait for confirmation (I hope Mr Braithwaite has now been reunited wth his dog). I suspect Layla is still in the immediate area and has now got herself into a little routine but I hope that hunger will get the better of her (unless she's come across a food source). Would she also have access to water in Ashburton Park or playing fields (although at the mo there will be plenty of puddles for her to drink from)? Here's hoping that the weekend will bring about further sightings of Layla. Good to hear that Graham is contactable 24/7 (he sounds a diamond but I also know that Tara is very dedicated, conscientious and caring).Last edited: 2011-07-08 20:59:19 by Millys Mum

- Graham is being very helpful "I get the news of any dogs found 24/7 so I will hear of any dogs that come in and we scan them all for chips anyway. I also get messages relating to dogs running loose in the street. Fingers crossed for the weekend." x

- still cant get through to Search Missing Pets via phone.... text and emailed and still nothing! so frustrating! may not know until Monday now and if it is her i would have spent all weekend looking and worrying for no reason. i dont want to not look as it may not be her :'( arrrggghhhhhhhhh
- 2011-07-08 14:31 Phoenix57
- Make sure you follow it up with them before places are likely to close. I presume the police would be able to find the details for the company owners and be able to contact them. I would have thought that they could request the finders details even with the Data Protection Act as an offence has possibly been committed if the dog has not been reported as found to the council. However, without more info from website, not really sure what the situation is or who is holding things up. They seem to be based very near me, but unfortunately there is no address :(
- 2011-07-08 14:13 ellejay
- Just got in from work, cannot believe what i am hearing how they treating you louise !!
i had another drive round, spread the word to more people today, still no sign..:(
How can they leave you hanging like this, its wrong, surely the first thing you should do when you find a animal is report it asap and get down the vets asap for scanning, i just hope these people have done so, but getting messages mixed up by the site ??
If they live local, surely they must of seen the posters and rang you straight away ?
this dog needs to be scanned, they cannot go just by description alone, and they need to invite you to see
dog. Well lets just hope you get some news by 5pm, cos the weekends most places shut. - 2011-07-08 13:54 Xlouise17x
- Exactly Phoenix57... I just don't understand it... when DogLost received a sighting they left 2 voicemails and a text message and gave me details as soon as I called them. This Search Missing Pets are really frustrating me because the only way they are contacting me back is via text message with minimal information. Basically they are telling me to wait to see if it is her. Do they have no idea what I am going through at the moment?!? x
- 2011-07-08 13:18 Phoenix57
- Presumably they want to reunite the dog with her owners or why would they have registered on a site as found, but all seems to be taking so long! If no joy later on, I'd speak to your contact at the council before they finish for the day and see if they can do any more, or even speak to the police if necessary.
- 2011-07-08 11:01 Xlouise17x
- does sound like her especially with a red collar.... finder hasnt said that she doesnt look like the photo but cant confirm that it is deffinatly her. they have said that there isnt any white patches (there is a very small one on chest - hopefully they just didnt see this). xx
- 2011-07-08 11:00 Xlouise17x
- response from dog lost "The finder is currently in breach of the law and could be charged by the police for 'THEFT BY FINDING' There is a legal requirement that anyone finding a dog mst follow which is outlined in the paragraph below, the website by withholding vital information could become an accessory to this crime and it may be worth letting them know the law as clearly they are not advising the finder the correct legal procedure to follow"
- 2011-07-08 10:44 Millys Mum
- I've just read the searchmissingpets website and it does sound highly likely that the found dog is Layla plus it would explain why there were so many sightings of her in Ashburton Park & playing fields and now nothing. Fingers crossed that Graham can shed some light on it.
- 2011-07-08 10:21 Millys Mum
- How strange about the finders of the 'stray' dog not wanting to speak to you. Surely (providing this dog was found near to you) there can't be too many large dogs fitting Layla's description out and about on their own (especially round our way where it's unusual to see a 'loose' dog). It would have been so easy for you to describe her in the minutest of details to ensure you were the rightful owners plus they've only got to read your posts on DL to understand how much you need her home! I do hope that the found dog is Layla and look forward to seeing her transferred to the blue area.Last edited: 2011-07-08 10:22:27 by Millys Mum

- Spoke to Graham Woodcock as Tara dog warden is on leave... Garaham manages Tara so is higher up and is willing to help. He has made attempts to contact "Search Missing Pets" to try and get more information out of them so fingers crossed! xx
- 2011-07-08 07:17 Xlouise17x
- Fingers crossed this is Layla find put today they've agreed to take her to vets to get scanned. http://www.searchmissingpets.co.uk/list-detail-found.php?reportFoundPets_id=96. Would have been better to find out last night but people who found her didn't want to do conference call or let me have their details? I could have asked about her white patch, her scar, her temperament to see if it was her! Spoke to dog communicator who was very good b4 she knew she was missing she said some things which really sounded like Layla. When I told her she was missing she had a strong feeling she was alive, not near to where I was and had been taken in, she said that just after I received email (see facebook). Will keep u updated xx

- Went to fields when I finished work today , drove all round bywood and woodmere which is at the top of fields, did not see her, but told quiet a few dog walkers, one suggested putting a poster in the hospital in Shirley as they back onto fields
I have now run out of posters and ink for printer, fella is going to try and print some at his work tomorrow when he has a free moment there.
The glade and orchard way needs to be postered if not already.
Just read on facebook group she may have been taken in, do we know by who or if they gonna get her scanned ?? If the person who may have her knows she is missing surely they would get Louise over asap ?? Or have I got that wrong ?
My work would not let me put a poster up, which is highly annoying as we are in elmers end 2 mins away from fields and lots of people come into us.
I will go again before my shift tomorrow, and after. If she not home by Saturday maybe we can all meet up when no work is involved and do a BBQ top and bottom of fields ? - 2011-07-07 16:09 Xlouise17x
- If you do see Layla please bear in mind her original name was Pinky however as she was in kennels for a year her name wasnt used much and resonds more to Layla but worth a try if you dont get anything from Layla! xx

- Morning. Appreciate your support everyone. This is a really tough time for me and my boyfriend, we are exhausted and are desperate to have her home safe. It is so difficult working full time but may request some time off next week if we dont find her this weekend. Its my birthday on the 17th.. was going to go away with her in the country :( I have emailed Tara the dog warden this morning and also went back to the field at 7am, not many dog walkers about but the people i did speak to hadn't seen her. put flyers up in tesco, newsagent, hairdresser and cafe so got my fingers cross. got a map with x on where she has been seen. also got close up map of surrounding roads around the park to try and cover all roads. Thanks again for everyones help and support, really is appreciated. I have added another number to contact as my phone runs out of battery quickly as I am always on the internet on here or facebook trying to see if anyone hears anything. Michaels number is 07949553405. xxxx

- What a worry for you especially if your pregnant , you gotta keep yourself well for babies sake.
You have many people looking for her now, may need to target towards top end of shirley as the top field leads up to orchard way, she may be running in that direction.
Let's hope she has made a den in the woods of fields and stays in this area..i have told family and friends who live round there to keep an eye out, your number is being circulated like no ones buisness :)
we need the dog warden to hopefully be able to come down there and see her.
Keep scenting the area, I will go there tomorrow, and Friday morning I start work at 6.30am so will go just before to see if she is out scavenging. - 2011-07-06 23:36 Xlouise17x
- Hey guys... what a nightmare! was 2 mins down the road in addlescombe when she was in the park as that is where she was last spotted... got home and plugged my phone in as had run out of battery and had loads of voicemails from people saying she was in the park. Spoken to one person who witnessed her crossing the road from ashburton park to the playing fields, nearly causing an accident. when we got there someone said they saw her about 2 mins ago (in the fields) turned the corner and no sign off her at all. Yes ellejay, was me sitting on bench about 10pm... was wrapped up in her blanket. left one of her leads on the bench, left some food but expect foxes are going to eat that. also me and my boyfriend had a wee lol sorry but thats what we were advised! it is very scary up those fields at night. there are 2 community police hiding in ditch looking out for scooters so have told them to keep a look out. worried about julie whose out on her bike there now. weve had to come back as i am pregnant and feeling very sick after running around looking for her plus its hard to see in the dark. i did see one dog that i really thought was her. got down low and called her name.. after a little while she came to me and i got my hopes up but as she got close was not her, was a smaller dog with no collar. Dog didn't come close enough to touch but did come over. could be someones dog who lives by the park as their back gardens are backed on the park, i know rebel is just let loose, he took a liking to layla so i have spoken to his owners and said if you do get her keep her in your house and call me! everyone i have spoken to have said they have seen her but she has been on a mission, darting off everywhere not stopping for anything. She is in a blind panic and is moving very fast!! Had hopes of having her home tonight..... :'( thanks for your help though guys... will carry phone charger with me 24/7!! xxx

- Just back from playing fields, I saw a girl sitting on a bench about 10pm, wondering if this was louise ?
Didn't want to approach as was on my own, and it was dark, it's very quiet at night so gotta be careful,
I drove all round the edges top and bottom of park, informed the local chip shop about layla, as lot of young teens go in there and tie their dogs up outside .
It was to dark to actually walk the fields alone , but will go again straight after work tomorrow as it's round the corner. - 2011-07-06 22:41 pleasebepolite!

- Following on from what Baggy Dog has said about it being the Foal Farm Festival this Sunday, Louise have you requested the mini-flyers to hand out to all and sundry. If you ask peeps to put a copy in their pocket, handbag, bum bag/doggy bag. etc when they sight Layla or hear of someone who has a newly acquired large dog, they will have your contact details to hand (rather than having to return to a poster for info). Also, did you contact Network Rail and the other numbers I mentioned?
- 2011-07-06 10:31 Baggy Dog
- Sorry to hear about Layla. This Sunday it's the festival day at Foal Farm - people come from a reasonable distance to attend. May be worth asking if you could put up posters? How about getting t-shirts printed with details and wear them around the show? If people ask you for further info you could hand them some leaflets? Hope she's home soon.

- Morning. Not tried newspapers or radio yet. If anyone can get me a direct link or a telephone number that would be a great help? No sightings as yet. Will call Foal Farm today. Which area does Gardian
Cover? Will try newsshopper to as they cover beckenham. Again, if someone can research who to contact it would save me time. Xx - 2011-07-06 00:29 ellejay
- As far as I am aware this has been no sightenings as of yet, Louise is doing a great job in contacting all vets rescues etc...
I am going to dulwich and Peckham tomorrow and will poster round there also, I got loads printed off so whenever I go somewhere in the car I will stick posters up where I can.
Well done to whoever put posters up in coney hall, if we can all help out in surrounding areas hopefully we can get her found soon.
Louise have you contacted the Croydon advertiser and guardian to get an advert in ?
The facebook page is growing, more members added the more eyes out looking for her . - 2011-07-05 22:51 Sullivan
- There are already posters up in spring park, coney hall where I walk my dogs. Has there been any sightings at all. It's unusual to not have any isn't it?x
- 2011-07-05 11:21 ellejay
- Thanks Millys Mum, your the one in the know with these contacts
I put some posters up round the Clockhouse and penge area last night when i was over that way, just incase she has travelled over there..
Also Foal farm in Biggin Hill needs to be contacted, though they do check for chips, its a good idea just to let them know she is missing... also Croydon animal samaritans, rspca godstone, just generally poster everywhere you can, all up Tennison Road, Addiscombe, elmers end long lane, etc...
i will keep checking the free ads for you xx - 2011-07-05 10:21 Xlouise17x
- Thanks again to everyone for your help. If you could print posters and put them up everywhere that would be fantastic help. Also there are so many places where she could be advertised for sale. If you have time to have a look that would be appreciated too. Thanks again. x

- I'm so sorry to hear that Layla is missing. I received the automatic DogLost email today, as well as an email from ellejay (ellejay - thanks for that). I've been out this afternoon and have not long been back in. I must admit I don't know the Woodside area at all but live in Beckenham and so I'm not that far from Layla's home. I noticed that doglady will be contacting Croydon's dog warden but it's probably wise to also call SDK Environmental (the London Borough of Bromley's contacted out dog warden service) on 0844 482 8337 (make sure you receive a reference number) and, just in case Layla has moved away from the Woodside area Lewisham's Animal Welfare's number is 020 8313 2098 (they are based in Ladywell). I believe their hours are 08:30-16:30 but the out-of-hours number is 020 8314 6000. As ellejay has said, it's vital that you check all the usual websites as listed by ellejay on at least a DAILY basis, although twice a day is better! How close are you to Woodside station? Another number to call is Network Rail on 0845 711 4141 (obtain reference number). I presume you've contacted Battersea. But the single MOST IMPORTANT 'weapon' are the POSTERS - 100 for starters and more if you can manage it. Make sure you drop a poster into the local Royal Mail sorting office and all local mini cab firms. DogLost can also arrange for you to receive mini-flyers via your email address and so, if you would like these, request them via the main DogLost number. I will certainly keep my eyes peeled in the Beckenham area and will speak to the Ward Security service who patrol our local parks assisted by their own dogs. I don't know whether they also cover the parks in Croydon. The good news is that Layla is chipped AND wearing a collar AND an ID tag with 2 contact numbers and so that (as well as her size) should make this beautiful girl very noticeable. Just poster like mad and make her the best known and hottest girl in town. Good Luck!Last edited: 2011-07-04 18:26:17 by Millys Mum

- Thanks ellejay for your comments. Just created a Facebook group, good idea. http://www.facebook.com/home.php?sk=group_241851925827160 I have put a lost advert on Gumtree and Preloved and will need to check the for sale ads, thanks. Luckily she is chipped but that wont mean anything until someone buys her and takes her to the vets. Will poster everywhere tonight!! xx

- Have you got a facebook page for her ??
If not, it would be a great idea to make a page and we can then circulate round,... i can forward on to alot of friends who live round this way,and work on croydon and they can forward on to their friends and family... it will get more people aware she is missing, more eyes out looking for her... - 2011-07-04 11:39 ellejay
- Also check on all free ad websites like gumtree, preloved, pets4homes, epupz, ukclassifieds etc incase someone is trying to sell her on ( unfortunatly this happens ) or they may be advertising she has been found.
