I hope that you have some good news soon x - 2011-07-17 22:48 Witchy-poos
- This is so heartbreaking :-( everything crossed here for him to be back with you asap. I know which kennels this boy was in, as I saw him come in & was checking several times a day in case he was listed on here as lost. GOOD LUCK.xxxLast edited: 2011-07-18 22:14:36 by Witchy-poos

- Thanks Ade. :)
When speaking to owner yesterday advised contacting the papers in the area where Borris is thought to be, keeping everything crossed they will put something in.
The support on the Facebook page has been great, thank you again to everyone. Jan x - 2011-07-17 05:39 ade.brandwood@hotmail.co.uk
- I'm going to email this to the M.E.N advertiser. Its disgusting you should have him home

- Thanks everyone for helping spread the word. Borris was not chipped with Petlog but another Chip Co. Jan x
- 2011-07-16 19:50 SJ100
- Petlog should not have changed thechip details without contacting you first, especially if you had already reported Borris spider missing. I would get your solicitor on to the chip company and demand to know where he is. Good luck in your fight to get Borris home.

- This situation is appalling. How can Boris's new owners call themselves dog lovers if they won't return him to his real owners. I have had a rescue Whippet for 5 months & love her but I would still return her to her real owner& if it was proved she had a genuine owner who loved her. I'm disgusted & will join the FB page

- Cannot believe this. Outrageous on pounds poor handling of Borris and appalling attitude of the new owners. Genuine "dog people" could never behave like this as certainly not in the dogs best interest! Would be understandable if we were talking years not a few weeks! Joined on FB and will share! X

The word is spreading fast on Facebook, a MASSIVE THANK YOU to everyone who is sharing and supporting his owner. Jan x

- There is a great website, doglaw.co.uk, they have a solicitor who specialises in dog related matters, the number is 0906 515 1108 (office hours) and solicitors name is Trevor Cooper. Good luck, I think his new owners are acting despicably but don't know about the legal position. Also, big boos to the vet concerned.

- BorrisTheSpider...I am so sorry to hear what you are having to go through to get your boy back! Do hope that all the action you are taking brings a positive result. It is such a shame that the family that now have Boris will not give him back to you. I am just wondering if the 'public' could help in any way!! If we knew the family's name or address or even if they could be contacted online! Boris is a much loved family dog and they need to know jut how much he is missed. If the public could get this point across to them it may help. There are so many dog lovers on here looking for their own dogs, all with differant circumstances and they are all willing to help one another. I am a member of a doglost group on fb and have posted Boris's page onto it - hope you don't mind. Ade Brandwood is admin. of this page and he lives in Oldham - he himself just recently has been reunited with his loving dog Suki, who was also rehomed. His story is a lot differant to yours but i do feel that you can get alot of support and help...

- There was a dog on D/L a few months ago, same situation..they took it to vets to b chipped..but vet found it was already chipped....but the vet refused to hand the dog back...we were all saying...Well done Vet...Why carnt all vets do this!!!!
- 2011-07-08 21:40 Phoenix57
- Yes, definitely get onto a solicitor!! You did everything correctly, they had no right to rehome your dog. Can't imagine what you are going through. As far as I knew, if someone wants to change the chip details they get in touch with the chip company who then try and contact the registered owner and ask permission. It's worrying if the vets can make this decision. Hopefully your solicitor will be able to help, but may need to involve police. Wishing you every luck in the world.

- hello, I'm the rightful owner of Borris.
I have now found more information. He is located somewhere in Accrington.(CLayton-Le-Moors) THE VETS HAVE ALLOWED THE NEW OWNERS TO CHANGE OUR DETAILS ON THE MICROCHIP, KNOWING WE ARE FIGHTING TO GET OUR DOG BACK!
I've gone through everything else. i've also contacted RSPCA and they are behind me 100%. I am going to see a solicitor tomorrow morning to get my dog back! Thank you for your positive commentsLast edited: 2011-07-08 17:41:34 by BorrisTheSpider - 2011-07-07 22:31 scootjockey
- Mark and I read on the net that the original owner is the legal owner and can claim the dog back even if found years later, they have the proof of ownership in the microchip.Worrying i know that yet another kennel hasnt detected the dogs microchip! Wondering yet again if at best some kennels arnt up to the job or is it actually something a little more sinister!Read Mollylollipops recent posts.gail xxx

- Agree mojomoment, a horrible situation for Boris' owners. Surely this can be resolved amicably? After all the original owners can prove he is their dog via the chip.
- 2011-07-07 20:04 mojomoment
- Ok, so what happens next then?? Surely the original owners are entitled to get him back? I can not even begin to imagine how the original owners must feel - I live in Burnley so it is very worrying to think that this can happen even though I have my dog chipped. :-9

- Sorry to see that BORRIS SPIDER is missing.
- If your dog is microchipped please let the microchip company know that your dog is missing and check that all details are up to date.
- Owners targeted by a malicious hoaxer demanding money for the return of their dog should phone the police on 101 immediately and contact admin@doglost.co.uk
- A photograph of your dog is essential for the website. If you have not already uploaded one, please do so by clicking on Update details. Alternatively you can email it to admin@doglost.co.uk quoting the dog's DogLost ID number: (30896)
- Obtain a missing poster by clicking on View poster above. Posters are very important so start postering now!
- You will need to be logged in to upload photos, edit your dog's details, or add comments. You can add comments by clicking on Click here to add a comment.
- Contact dog wardens, vets and local rescue centres, and in Scotland, the Police. Give a detailed description with any distinguishing marks/scars or send them a copy of your DogLost poster. You can find vets in your area here.
- If your dog has been stolen inform the police immediately and obtain a crime reference number (CRN). Send an email to stolen@doglost.co.uk.
- If your dog is picked up and taken to rescue kennels, it can be legally re-homed after seven days. Visit rescue centres in person and do not rely on checking by phone alone. Other people may not recognise your dog by your description, so give them a DogLost poster.
- Keep us updated by keeping your dog's page up to date and check for posts from helpers who may have suggestions and possible matches or sightings
- DogLost is free and anyone asking for money to find or return your dog is not volunteering for us. If you are concerned about an approach you have received, please email admin@doglost.co.uk
