- Hi I know it’s been a long time but my friend just saw a older black Labrador outside Waitrose by Clapham Common tube with three men - possibly rough sleepers. Have messaged you on your Facebook messenger page too. I will try and get a photo but am not there that often and she too will try to get one. The dog was wearing a choke lead with red on it. Sorry we don’t have a photo.

- Alfie Black has been missing for 7 years now. His family still hold out hope of finding him. Update on Alfies page yesterday:
"7 years ago today we last saw our beautiful black lab Alfie. We can only hope that he is somewhere with people who care about him and he is loved and fed and happy.
If you ever find a dog call the local dog warden - you can call the local council and ask to be put through. Here is some advice from Battersea in the event you find one. https://www.battersea.org.uk/pet-advice/lost-and-found-dog-advice/found-dog
Remember most dogs in this country are loved and cherished family members and the best place for them is back with their family. Alfie would be around 11.5yrs now so time is running out for us but we still live in hope every day that he might come back to us.
Ezme xx"

- Can Alfie be shared today as it's 5 years since he disappeared in central London.
Find Alfie Black's post.
Well today is a very sad day as Alfie has now been missing for 5 years...Yes 5 years ago he bolted from Covent Garden in central London when some kids threw banger caps near him on the pavement. He ran down the Strand to Trafalgar square where the trail goes cold...Alfies poster was put up on mass around the central London Area and every lost dog channell was sought in a massive attempt to find him,to no avail. His profile has been raised on the web on both facebook and twitter and still after 5 long years sadly he is still missing. We would like to thank EVERYONE who has tried toto get him returned to the family who miss him so very much. There are thousands of you who we dont and will never know helping us and we cant say a big enough thankyou to you all for helping us so far.The search will never stop for Alfie and we are always inspired by tales of pets re united after many years normally down to there microchip. This sadly is our main hope of now finding Alfie.Today we will be raising his profile across the web as we have done every month since he dissappeared. Please help us today raise his profile and help us keep on our endless search for Alfie. We can only hope that wherever he is today he is loved, warm and fed.He is the most loving dog you could ever hope to meet and we all miss him every day in our lives. - 2015-08-19 16:46 charlie and sooty

The reality of the situation is that we are now very dependant on his microchip being scanned. We do follow every lead posted up and would like to thank the thousands of people who have helped us on our quest to find him to date.Your all stars and wonderful people...Thankyou.......

- I work in WC2 and see your posters all the time. I walked up the pedestrian street that links the Strand and William IV Street today (by the Post Office) and saw a lady sitting opposite the church with a black labrador. I think that she was sitting with some homeless people (not sure if she was homeless) as this is where they sit (outside the entrance to Charing X). I didn't get a really good look at the dog as I was just passing but it looked in very good condition. You may want to take a look around there just to make sure. Anything helps I suppose. I really hope you find him.

- So sorry that Alfie is still missing. I was visiting in London last Friday and Saturday and did notice your posters up in various areas of London. You have done a good job with the postering but dont give up on doing them as it just needs that one person to see a poster who knows where Alfie is. I hope you find him very soon x

- received some info that Alfie may be in the Haywards Heath area of Sussex. Are there any volunteers in that area who could look out for him or put up posters? Many thanks

- we're keeping an eye on gumtree and sites that offer stud dogs, Annie. There's been possible sightings but nothing specific. Black labs have no defining features apart from being black labs so it's difficult to know. The search network is growing and we're still on the case, keeping positive and will continue to publicise and search

- any updates on Alfie? are you keeping an eye on websites like Gumtree?

- annieb, there has been some sightings last week around St. James park, but we think he may have been picked up by someone now as no more sightings. We made a facebook page, not sure how to put a link here but it's 'Find Alfie Black'. My son (his dog) has put up a thousand posters and has another thousand printed. Any help welcome.
- 2011-07-21 14:51 annieb725
- have there been no sightings at all? I would have thought a dog like this would stand out wandering alone in central London - but then I know how people tend to walk past and think someone else will see to it (recent experience with an abusive alcoholic homeless man and his dog taught me this, but that's another story ...)
- 2011-07-19 21:13 annieb725
- I work in W1 and walk in from Waterloo every day - I saw your notice up in Covent Garden today, the DogLost one with the photo will help, especially for tourists who might not be able to read the poster but can recognise the dog from the picture - will be keeping my eye out every day

- I'm so sorry to hear Alfie is missing. What a handsome boy.
Riverlady, it may be an idea to also notify wardens in the neighbouring boroughs of Camden, Islington, City of London (Westminster meets Camden on the WC2/WC1 border and Islington and the City on the WC1/EC1 border) and Lambeth (just the other side of Westminster Bridge). The Covent Garden and St James' Park areas are close enough to these borders to make it feasible that Alfie could wander into the other areas.
You mentioned that rescues and vets have been notified. I assume this includes the Blue Cross in Victoria but have the Beaumont Hospital (Royal Veterinary College) in Camden, the Harmsworth Hospital (RSPCA) in Islington and the Mayhew Animal Rescue in west London been notified too?
Sorry if I am stating the obvious. It's just that I used to live in the Covent Garden area and know these places are well within the wandering possibilities of a young healthy dog (when my aunt's dog went missing in Holborn, he was found at the Harmsworth).
I hope Alfie is found soon. - 2011-07-15 21:42 Riverlady

- Sorry to see that ALFIE is missing.
- If your dog is microchipped please let the microchip company know that your dog is missing and check that all details are up to date.
- Owners targeted by a malicious hoaxer demanding money for the return of their dog should phone the police on 101 immediately and contact admin@doglost.co.uk
- A photograph of your dog is essential for the website. If you have not already uploaded one, please do so by clicking on Update details. Alternatively you can email it to admin@doglost.co.uk quoting the dog's DogLost ID number: (31074)
- Obtain a missing poster by clicking on View poster above. Posters are very important so start postering now!
- You will need to be logged in to upload photos, edit your dog's details, or add comments. You can add comments by clicking on Click here to add a comment.
- Contact dog wardens, vets and local rescue centres, and in Scotland, the Police. Give a detailed description with any distinguishing marks/scars or send them a copy of your DogLost poster. You can find vets in your area here.
- If your dog has been stolen inform the police immediately and obtain a crime reference number (CRN). Send an email to stolen@doglost.co.uk.
- If your dog is picked up and taken to rescue kennels, it can be legally re-homed after seven days. Visit rescue centres in person and do not rely on checking by phone alone. Other people may not recognise your dog by your description, so give them a DogLost poster.
- Keep us updated by keeping your dog's page up to date and check for posts from helpers who may have suggestions and possible matches or sightings
