Well cant thank you guys enough for what you have done you have been a great help and I am just so glad to have him back again. But once again thank you so much :) happy summer to you all x
dinkydoodle
Still can't believe it!!!! doglover1 and I have went through the cornfield where Mason was seen earlier today and across the fields by the River Severn with Mason's family and friends and no luck. We all then decided to go Ingst farm again, the family got there but we got held up by a tractor. En route we then had THAT CALL, they had got him!!!!! Chris and the children sat on the ground and Mason came to them as if he had been waiting for them to come and get him knowing they were heading back to Manchester tonight. One totally happy family, one thin and slightly bewildered Mason now travelling home. He is going to the vets first thing tomorrow. It was lovely to meet Mason and see such smiling faces. Happy summer holidays for this family now. Still quite can't believe it!!!!!!!!
Thanks to furryhound, ML, liver1047 and everyone else who has helped in the search for Mason.x.

Fantastic news that he has been sighted. I can head that way tomorrow for a look around too. Would a trap be any good in this situation or not?
I will keep checking on here tomorrow in case of any sightings and can be there to help fairly quickly. Stay safe Mason.
furryhound
I visited Ingst today and spoke to a few people. One person working on a nearby property said he saw Mason in the lane last Wednesday and a farmer said he saw him 24 hours ago. He also said he'd heard barking in the corn at the back of his farm. I went down to Aust and walked some of the footpath back up towards Ingst - I think this will be a good route to spot him if he's that side of the hamlet (Ingst is just a few houses). Chris, you need to let us know immediately you get a sighting if possible so we have a chance to get there and help.
mojomoment
I don't live anywhere near you but just wanted to send you all the luck in the world! Mason is gorgeous and I can't imagine how you must feel. He also looks very intelligent and I am sure you will have him back really soon x

I am SO pleased there are sightings of this lovely little boy! Chris, you are well over half way to catching him! If he is doing a circle and staying around there, the gypsies don't have him and you will get him home! You are actually on the last legs although it still seems hard, you are really almost there. You CAN do this. Everyone out there helping - you are so FAB!!!! x
DogLostJayne - Founder Doglost.
Spoken to owner. Ingst farm is at a place called Ingst close to the Aust services...about 1 miles South west of the services near the M48 junction with M4. owner says Mason is doing a circle in the same area....owner taking BBQ TO area. will e mail local helpers with ammended poster.
Spindle

liver1047
gave posters out at dog training in thornbury as a lot of people walk there dogs along the severn,,
dinkydoodle
Chris told me he rang 2 farms by Littleton and called into another near the village: all the farmers said they wouldn't shoot. I'll have to look at google maps to note the farms names then arrange to call them or send a poster.
I assume apart from swimming across the river, which again I assume is not possible, the only other way into Wales is over the Severn Bridge??
chris
the travellers haven't got him we went out today because he was seen on Ingst farm, i have been searching there and the surrounding area for ages, he was seen in the distance but ran away, but at least he seems safe and well. Tomorrow morning first thing i am going to go searching again and hopefully he is still there and i will get him back, but in the meantime massive thanks to all of you
furryhound
I have heard that those travellers are now down in Pilning on the old tip but I don't know for sure it's the same ones. As they were so well hidden in Rudgeway it's impossible to know if they are the same vehicles. My friend is going to ask someone in the police helicopter crew to keep a look out when they're in the area of the river. I will try to have a look between Severn Beach and Avonmouth if I can. Do all the farms in the area know?
ML
Ah, thanks dinkydoodle. I'm glad that they are still there! I asked hubby about the gypsies in Rudgeway but he wasnt even aware of them and hasn't managed to get any info i'm afraid:( I did get him to have a look along the sea front at Severn Beach earlier but nothing. We will keep searching for you Mason. xxx
dinkydoodle
Meant to say big thanks to ML whose many posters we passed on our travels :-)
dinkydoodle
Doglover1 & I just back from postering today at Masons Arms (hope this is a good omen), village hall & post office Alveston; called at White Hart Littleton on Seven left poster although they had a photo, put couple more up in lanes by village; Seven walkway coastal path by Whale Wharf business park; Severn view services (Aust), Aust village & Elberton.
We really need a sighting of Mason now to know which direction to take. Chris I'll call you tomorrow, thinking of you putting an ad in our local paper. Also put ad on local free ad sites Trade It & Gumtree - we have checked on these for found dogs. Come on Mason.
DogLostReynard
Doglover & Dinkydoodle our fab Bristol helpers are out postering today for Mason.
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
Wish there was; maybe worth asking police as this was mentioned near the beginning of Mason's page, about the police knowing they'd moved on. The council should know who they are. Police may have been there at the time if they were evicted & may give you some idea of their direction. Or ask the other gypsies if they know. But be aware that their response may be incorrect, but worth a try. If the travelling ones did pick up a dog, when they arrive at their next base, it is less likley they will need to hide him. So if you knew were they were headed, or what they looked like, type of caravans etc, that would help. But, this is one of a number of possibilities. As has been said, try the other direction too. You really need to keep postering very heavily in all directions and go as far outwards as you can, a few miles even. The more people know, the more chance you have of sightings. We are all with you, keep going. Come on little Mason, back to your Dad now sweetie. x
chris
is there anyway we could find out when the gypos went
dinkydoodle
So wishing there was some news of Mason. Stay safe until we find you.

furryhound
liver1047 if you mean the ones at Rudgeway they've gone. I have emailed details to the sailing club at Oldbury and the police in case Mason is spotted. Has anyone been looking in the other direction i.e Severn Beach to Avonmouth?
chris

It's the River Severn, not a nice part of it though, but the owner has notified the coast guard and there isn't a railway nearby, just miles of fields and open land :(
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
You are doing a great job out there! Keep it going - Mason needs all the help we can muster. If you are in a group, can you SAFELY have a sniff around by that gypsy site? It's a worry. Have the police on speed dial, just in case. Every where you can put a poster, put one. Has the water company for that river been notified? And, if there is a river - is there a railway line? If so, Network Rail needs calling urgently. Can anyone check on this, please? Thank you. I suspect Mason is just having a little adventure. Come on Mason sweetie, stay safe till Daddy finds you. x
furryhound
Thanks ML. I've been up to Oldbury this afternoon and walked down to the river's edge. Spoke to someone coming out with his boat and a couple of dog walkers. Will email the Sailing club and local beat manager to get the police on the look out when driving round the area. It is a huge area but the walk along the river bank is lovely and must attract a lot of walkers. Sadly I didn't have any posters but there are plenty of places to put them.
ML
I have postered the old passage, Littleton on Severn and put a few posters through peoples letter boxes and a couple of posters in Olveston.
I thought after I should have taken a poster into Aust services but had run out of posters by then so if anyone else heads that way and has a spare poster? Come on Mason, time to show yourself. xxx
dinkydoodle
Great work everyone, thank you.
doglover1 and I are thinking of getting up a search/postering party on Sunday (hopefully this won't be necessary as he'll be found by then) - is there anyone who would be able to join us please???
furryhound
Stroud Dog Wardens informed in case he keeps heading up the river. Will try to get out to Oldbury area later and will ask around but would appreciate someone postering. Have just spoken to owner and they have had no news at all but are grateful for all the help from Team Bristol.
doglover1
Thank you soooo much ML X
ML
Posters printed, will be heading out in a bit. xx
doglover1
PLEASE if any helpers in this area can poster for Mason im sure his owners would be very grateful as they are not from this area.We need to get this area covered in posters! Thank you x
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
Worrying about travelling gypsies. Can you ask Police and dog warden to help you investigate? You need to be careful and never go alone. Sometimes the dogs get hidden. Are they still in the area? Keep safe little one. x
chris
I've checked that gypo site he's not there. but i was also told about travelling gypo's in that area by the police today
liver1047
by the way there is a gypo site by the old severn bridge, a lot of stolen dogs were foundthere a few months back ,u really need to check there, its on the old brige up a lane,
liver1047
live in little stoke area, go for walks severn beach area, put poster on f/b and in the car, will keep looking, hope mason is found safe and well, x
dinkydoodle
Just spoken with Chris. They have done brilliantly notifying coast guard, local farmers as a rural area. Mason was spooked Sat afternoon around 3pm then seen river side of Littleton on Severn Sat evening. Food was left at missing spot but hasn't been touched.
Team Bristol we have to pull the stops out here as Chris is not local and working in the area so can only search/poster before & after work. Family are doing what they can in Manchester but we need eyes on the ground too.
chris
im trouble with the phones i have tried to phone back. could i ask what advice and help you could give me to get him back. and fank you verry much for getting back in touch
dinkydoodle
Have called both numbers but no ring tone, just silence. Have also sent text to both numbers for owner to contact me.
Chris if you read this msg you can also comment here or ring Head Officewith another tel no. Thanks.
Rottiemc
Poster printed and now up in Severn Beach. Will walk down near new bridge this afternoon and have a look out for him.
ML
I am going to head out that way in a little bit. I am unable to print off some posters today but will print some off in the morning and head out again then to put them up. Lets hope this little man is found soon. xx

dinkydoodle
Have emailed poster to White Hart pub in Littleon on Severn (which is a very small village) it appears.
doglover1
Mason was lost under the old Severn Bridge and was believed to have been seen up river towards Littleton. He is from Manchester and doesn't know his way around :(
I have shared on fb, emailed all local rescues and Dogs home's.
Chris - as Mason is out of his area Manchester, it is really important to contact the microchip company asap and inform them Mason is missing, also visit Bristol Dogs home or call them daily to check if he has been handed in. I hope this lovely boy is found soon. Last edited: 2011-07-19 22:12:45 by doglover1

Thanks Mollychops and Kimmybear for your assistance. We were alerted to this guy yesterday by S Glos DW, doglover1 and I have shared on fb and will offer further help and advice.
Chris - please make sure Highways agency have been informed: tel 0300 123 5000. We'll get other authorities details to you asap.
Stay safe Mason until we find you.
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
Owners, best thing to do is get those posters up fast, everywhere! The quicker you can do this the quicker you will get sightings of your beloved Mason, which will get him home. Leave something of yours in the area he was lost as dogs usually come back at some point and it will help keep him there, as he will pick up your scent. POSTER, POSTER, POSTER!!!!!
