- So sorry that Sammy is still missing, Helen. I guess that you will already know that the Betley Game Fair will be on in early July - http://www.thegundogandgamefair.com/
Perhaps it may be worth printing out some more flyers or handouts to give to people who attend the fair - may jog someones memory or at least will raise the profile again. I guess they will get visitors from across the area and further afield in neighbouring counties?

- COPIED FROM A POST ON 32206
Apologies for posting here as unlikely to be connected to this case but may be relevant to other lost spaniels. Some travellers were evicted from a site just outside Brighton a few months ago & were camped out in parks all over the city. They were selling puppies mainly jack russells but someone has told me they were also selling pedigree spaniels.x - 2011-08-31 10:53 B30

- Hi Helen,
I am a newbie on here and just seen this. Sorry to hear about Sammy.
I am near the Stafford area and sometimes go up to Coombes Valley, Consall and the surrounding area to volunteer with the RSPB. They are always in and around the area and particularly this time of year to do practical work. If you haven't already, I can Email the RSPB at Coombes and ask volunteers to keep their eyes open and let others know. I will also put some posters around my village and in the pet shop, local shop and restaurant. - 2011-08-22 16:56 Helen Bailey
- Hi search party went ok thanx but still no further forward with finding Sammy altho Phebe says Whispa picked up his scent and he took us the same way as the sighting was but the woods is so vast he could be in there for months without being seen. Put trap out last night but still no joy trying again tonight Thanx for all your concerns and posts xx will keep u posted xxx

- Helen you're working so hard getting all this media coverage for Sammy.
ALSO, JUST A REMINDER OF THE SEARCH TAKING PLACE TOMORROW AFTERNOON, DETAILS BELOW. PLEASE JOIN IN IF YOU CAN AND HELP FIND SAMMY xx - 2011-08-17 20:40 Helen Bailey
- it is frightening the fact that the License is with one authority and it only covers welfare not ownership and the contract with other authorities who only receive tickets (paperwork) for the dogs their wardens take in so if Jo public takes a dog in there is no audit trail for that dog its sole responsibility lies with the dogs home mad or what :(
- 2011-08-17 20:31 Helen Bailey
- Here goes update on Sammy been to dogs home and spoke to manager she checked book which had an entry of dog on the 30th collected by owner, having thought about it i wasn't happy so returned with hubby this time the girls stated that the one listed on the 30th was not admitted it was just a notice of dog lost at this point i clocked the number and later confirmed this to be true. Having said that after I explained that I had a witness the girls did confirm that a springer was taken in and handed to the elder guy who gave it to the younger lad, so i waited for them to return and was told that an off duty RSPCA guy from Telford called Alan had dropped it off one saturday morning they had scanned it and the owner from Newport collected it the next morning (Sunday) I contacted Shropshire RSPCA and they haven't got an Alan ??? he told me there was no paperwork done because it was reunited with its owner straight away who brought evidence of chip number but funnily enough the guy hadn't kept a record of that either, someone is not being honest me feels :(

- Has there been any more sightings, try keeping a map and marking the spot where he was lost an where he has been seen. If Sammy is still wandering he will be in survival mode, are there any pubs, b/breakfasts in area where he might go to for scraps of food or the smell of food, also any barns, unused sheds etc what he could be using as a den xx

Thanks everyone for all your support. I am going to contact the chip people again tomoz scootjockey cos when i last spoke they were not too helpful but i will try again as the lady might have just been having an off day we all have them eh :) Thanks again to all you lovely people xx

- Hi Helen with regards to contacting vets etc.You could ask your microchip company if they provide a service to help you find your missing dog. Such as "Locate" We purchased after Tay was stolen App £22.they then inform all vets, kennels and other doggie related organisations etc within a 20 mile radius of where they went missing. Its perhaps more effective if puchased before your dog is actually lost, as youd have a wallet containing everything required by them in the event your dog should be lost.Best wishes Tays mum Gail, xxx

- I tweeted and shared on facebook. There is no way one can contact vets but by calling every one and sending pictures/posters.I know it is stupid that they don't have one site and most if them don't even have e-mail addresses... but you can write to the dogwardens on info@animalwardens.co.uk with a picture. Check their web site regulalry. Good luck! I know how you feel as my Biscuit has been gone since November last year. Hugs xx

- Sorry there's been no further news Helen, maybe it was a false alarm. It's such a shame that you can't trace the campers.
Sammy's advert is due to be published on Wednesday so that will get some media coverage all over.
I will try to phone you tonight. - 2011-08-07 22:40 Helen Bailey
- Hi All I think the sighting was a false alarm as there has been absolutely nothing. I believ people were camoping near by on the night he went missing from Nottingham but cant trace them Does anyone know of a service that will inform ALL VETS everywhere because its proving impossible to call each individually. I contacted Cornwall no joy but thanks Pam. Kingsley is near our home but he has not been sighted since and its odd that a child sat in the back seat saw him whilst driver and passenger didnt. Have been back and left items in wood, also emptied contents of vaccum cleaner and even spent the night weeinplease God let him come home. Thanks to all for commenst and tweets etc PLEASE KEEP retweeting i cant give up on him and its driving me to despair. Thanks all

- Thank you Sammy still not home followed all the suggested ideas we have lots of fields and woods around so lots of smells to distract him, its really disheartening to keep going back to the spot where we always park and still no sign.
- 2011-07-22 16:31 Barney 'n' Ozzie's mum
- Keep going back to where you last saw him. Dogs often return to the spot where they last saw their owner. Leave an item of clothing with your scent on there and it will hopefully keep him in the area. Good luck xx

- Sorry to see that SAMMY BAILEY is missing.
- If your dog is microchipped please let the microchip company know that your dog is missing and check that all details are up to date.
- Owners targeted by a malicious hoaxer demanding money for the return of their dog should phone the police on 101 immediately and contact admin@doglost.co.uk
- A photograph of your dog is essential for the website. If you have not already uploaded one, please do so by clicking on Update details. Alternatively you can email it to admin@doglost.co.uk quoting the dog's DogLost ID number: (31260)
- Obtain a missing poster by clicking on View poster above. Posters are very important so start postering now!
- You will need to be logged in to upload photos, edit your dog's details, or add comments. You can add comments by clicking on Click here to add a comment.
- Contact dog wardens, vets and local rescue centres, and in Scotland, the Police. Give a detailed description with any distinguishing marks/scars or send them a copy of your DogLost poster. You can find vets in your area here.
- If your dog has been stolen inform the police immediately and obtain a crime reference number (CRN). Send an email to stolen@doglost.co.uk.
- If your dog is picked up and taken to rescue kennels, it can be legally re-homed after seven days. Visit rescue centres in person and do not rely on checking by phone alone. Other people may not recognise your dog by your description, so give them a DogLost poster.
- Keep us updated by keeping your dog's page up to date and check for posts from helpers who may have suggestions and possible matches or sightings
- DogLost is free and anyone asking for money to find or return your dog is not volunteering for us. If you are concerned about an approach you have received, please email admin@doglost.co.uk
