- Went back to roche abbey ,went to spot where i thlought i heard arks ,nothing maybe it was some ones dog over at the abbey ,its difficult to listen for barking when you are in a dog walking location.Went back to the old mineral line where she was sighted 2 days after she went missing, nothing ,corn still not cut down.

- I would return to the thick undergrowth and hack it back as it doesn't take much to trap a sheltie. One bramble branch totally disables mine. xx

- Remember shelties are so resourceful and is probably surviving well on her own juust now. Food is plentiful in the countryside at the moment. Being a more shy breed she'll be hiding and possibly coming out at night. Am watching this with interest. Please don't give up hope. She's just being very clever and looking after herself. Sylv x

- Bumped for sighting. Unfortunately it's not possible to sit out in car by the mineral line as it is all footpath/cycle track. More people searching tomorrow.
- 2011-08-11 23:32 Shelties Mum - Area Volunteer, Kent
- The boy's sighting could well be accurate because they usually come back to the point they got lost. Might even be an idea to sit/camp out in the car at that point. That's what I would do. Sylv xx

- Hi came out with my friend vicky walked up mineral line to bridge where millie was sighted, walked through cornfield on the left, went as far as across the road and into next field and over railway tack ,no sighting. after 2 and a half hours came up to allotments on stead fold lane and left some posters there , gave one to a lady too give to her milkman, also gave some to post office to give to the postmen/women as they are out early mornings.then went up to church street ,where millies new owner lives and postered there also walked the route she took when she ran away.A little boy said he saw a dog like millie run up from the mineral line trail[route] yesterday aftwrnoon and run back past church street where she had got lost from and down in direction of libary/community centre [where we left a poster] and to the football field/ park,we looked around [3.30 but no sign of her.. i will do opposite cornfield again tomorrow and there around the church street main street area in thurcroft

- Sorry to hear that there have been no sightings of Millie. She may appear once the fields have been harvested. My shelties love running along the tramlines in the corn and can't be seen until they pop out at the end. Once the fields are bare you may sight her. Sorry not to be able to help look for her but miles away near London! Fingers crossed that she will be found soon but as Shelties Mum says they are very tough, resourceful little dogs. xx
- 2011-08-09 23:28 Shelties Mum - Area Volunteer, Kent
- Shelties are very clever little dogs and great survivors and she'll be lying low and especially if she heard you coming. Could even have been sitting just behind you and you wouldnt know. They eat anything to survive and one of my boys is a brilliant mouser, but they can live on vegatables alone. She will show herself eventually when she gets tired of being out there alone and misses her cuddles. It's a waiting game. xx

- Hi i came over last frid with 2 shelties ,a fairly hot day, we walked halfway down the mineral line trail and up top to the corn fields over the bridge, did not see millie, came today tues 9/8/11 another hot day ,this time with same two sheltie dogs, walked all the way from steadfolds lane, right up to the road where saw sign for thornberry animal sanctury, still have not sden or heard millie,on the way back some girls on horses asked me if i had found her. drove up to aniston and laughton common but no luck, trying to find this fishermans lake ,but not knowing the area was hard. dissapointed that nobody seems to have sighted this girl, will keep coming over.i even went up top and through cornfield[edge off] and it took me a hour and a half to comb all the sticky bobs and sticky grass alls out off my dogs coats.

- Hi, I doubt she has come this far but I will pop some posters up around Aston and Swallownest. At least people can keep an eye open whilst they are out and about. Goodluck
- 2011-08-05 21:25 Owl
- Thanks, I didn't know about the lake and will mention it to Millie's people. Fishermen are always good to get on side as they are often out early, sit quietly and are likely to notice any animals around.

- I have done some postering in Laughton , Slade hooton, Firbeck and Thropham this evening. Roche abbey closes at 6.30 so we couldn't get in to poster. Owl there is a large lake before you hit the industrial estate but it is hidden by the shrubbery, it is accessible by grass path. If anyone is in the area sometime soon, there are a lot of people who fish there, so may be worth having a word with them. I think you can also access it by road near to the Big Tops play zone?

- We did go out the day before yesterday, and Wispa quickly got a trail which led to the mineral line via a slightly different route to the one which we expected, round the block and through some allotments where Wispa showed me one drinking place. Then over a road bridge to the mineral line and down to the place where she had been sighted, and southwards in the direction of Dinnington and Thornberry. There is an industrial estate towards the end of the mineral line, with an overpowering chemical smell. It sent my nose numb so it must have affected Wispa even more. It was hopeless trying to get a trail there. But I don't think she went that far south, as Wispa was air scenting a lot around the main part of the mineral line path. On the way down she was indicating that the scent came from the thick woodland and scrub on the east of the line, but walking back she got very excited about the cornfield to the west side so I think Millie had crossed over. The farmers who work those fields know about Millie and will be watching out for her. There is a lovely clear stream in the area we think Millie is based, looks like a spring rather than rainwater, so I expect she will stay within reach of that.

- I am in Laughton and have a grooming salon in Dinnington so will keep an eye out. If you need any help with the search then don;t hesitate to get in touch on 07958 479542 I can only do evenings though. I hope she is home soon x Edited to say I don't have printer access if anyone can dropme some posters off or post some to me I will put it up in the salon and also poster the laughton area.Last edited: 2011-08-04 20:04:25 by feebagem

- Delighted to hear you're going out Owl. Am sure you'll remember they eat turnips of needs be and the chamces are high she'll return to the place she was lost. Yes mine were feeling the heat today, so she'll be tucked under a bush somewhere in the long grass. All the best for your search. Wispa came up trumps last time.xx

- Search party tonight with previous and present owners plus myself and Wispa. No point in going out any earlier today, it has been scorching here and I'm sure Millie will have been asleep somewhere cool.

- The lady who put Milly on site is a friend of Milly's people, who do not have internet. She is awaiting more details plus photo but wanted to get her on site without delay. Milly has just escaped from her new home, and the lady who bred her is out there searching with another sheltie. Details of Milly will be updated as soon as we know more. In the meantime, if anyone sees Milly do not try to catch her as shelties are easily spooked but call the number given.
