- Thanks guys, the news is spreading fast from my facebook page "Canine Health 101" (behaviour, nutrition, communication & natural remedies) so lets hope lots more people sign up soon.
AJD new, much stronger rings for their tags were obtained before he returned, Thors' was on immediately and Talens' within minutes of returning, luckily many people in this area recognise my dogs, as being rather rural this is a mainly labrador, pointer and terrier area, however the risks of microchipping are too high for me I'm afraid.
As far as Talen is concerned, when he managed to get up on the sofa for a cuddle at 5pm he gave his first smile, this morning he is steady on his feet, but still pretty shattered bless him. - 2011-08-15 23:46 Talakai
- Just logged on hoping to see he was home , stay safe now young man !!

- What great news! Just got back from Norfolk, and was anxiously scanning the pages to find out if he had come home.
Tiamaat, PLEASE could I ask you to get Talen and his brother microchipped and tagged. Honestly it really can make all the diffeence in getting a dog reunited.
I am sure once he has had a good nights sleep and his breakfast tomorrow, he will be bouncing around again. - 2011-08-15 18:52 Jayne - Founder Doglost.
- Talens owner has kindly offered to put an appeal on her facebook page...was it dog behaviour...I am sure it was...to appeal for her followers to join doglost...thanks.

- Had to go down to Hampshire before first light today but people contacted me there to let me know the good news as they knew I would be worrying about him all day! Welcome home Talen after your 24 hour adventure, wonder what you got up to?! Stay safe forever now.

Stay safe handsome Talen xx - 2011-08-15 09:45 Tiamaat
- His paws and legs seem sore, so I've pulled down a matress and made him up a day bed downstairs, he already has one upstairs. Thanks so much everyone & bless you Snowdrop for offering to look with me.

- After sleeping, eating for england & then more sleep, when he got up to check the milkman he started limping, he had seemed a bit unsteady on his feet when eating earlier, I suspect he's not rested at all. There are no cuts or bruises or broken bones, so I think he just needs good nutrition and some rest. Thanks again x

- 3am I've left lights on in the windows and all internal doors open, as well as the door to the front yard, hoping that if he came home Thor would hear him. Nothing as yet. Have just sent up a prayer to the moon, if I'm tired & cold, how the heck is Talen?
- 2011-08-14 21:24 Tiamaat
- Talen is an extreamly well natured dog, trusting and friendly and wants to play with everyone and everything. He is a tall boy a good 27-28" at the shoulder and probably around 30-33 Kilos, but please don't be intimidated if you see him & feel free to call at any time of the day or night if you do. Thank you

- Thanks Kimmybear. I phoned the council's emergency number and they got a message to the dog warden. The local railway line was closed and grew over years ago. Unfortunately my printer is not working, so have asked my landlord to print it, hopefully he will tomorrow, or I'll go into harborough and get it printed in the copy shop, after ringing all the local vets obviously. I've left the gate to the front yard open, so that he can come scratch at the door if he finds his way home, and will be attempting to sleep on the sofa, not sure how I will though as he normally cuddles up with me at night.

- Don't worry about Talen being out in the wild for a bit - dogs are amazing and can survive well as their instincts kick in. If he can stay safe, and most do, he can get by just fine. Poster EVERYTHING and EVERYWHERE. This is key to getting Talen back home. Have you checked with the Highways Agency and the Council's cleansing departments (or emergency nos) and also, if there is a railway line anywhere near, you need to check with Network Rail to let them know he is missing. As it is Sunday, it is possible someone has him and they won't be able to get him to the dog warden until Monday. Keep going, you are doing so well. Come on Talen, keep safe precious. x

- Sorry this is not my area but will keep checking in on Talen's page and hope he's soon found safe and well.

- Thanks Ellie, Thanks Riverlady.
I have given out cards to people in the village and anyone I saw out and about asking them to call if they see him. I've had friends as well as myself doing meditations trying to call him home. I've even stood out in the garden with his brother and howled hoping that he would hear it and navigate his way home. It has now been almost 13 hours, if someone doesn't have him he must be hungry as he hadn't eaten this morning. Me I feel very sick, but then I won't calm down until I know he is safe. I'll call as many of the local vets as possible in the morning. Thank you all so much for your help and support. - 2011-08-14 19:55 Riverlady
- Have put Talen on twitter + will circulate.

- Tiamaat Thank you for keep us updated with what you are doing in your search and the circumstances Talen went missing etc it can make a big difference to the help we can give. Please heed AJDs valuable advice. I would think by now that someone has found him and taken him in for safety especially as he is such a friendly chap and they may intend taking him to a vet tomorrow to see if he is chipped. Please ring around the vets in the area and again all the Dog Wardens. Stay safe until then you lovely lad.

The only thing I suggest is what I did when I lost my dogs. Fill a plastic bottle with your urine, and punch a hole in the top. Go back to where he was seen, and every few yards sprinkle a few drops back to a point where you leave something of yours - an old jacket or whatever that smells of you. Leave some dried food and water there, and maybe a toy, also rub something over his brother and leave it there. Make a spiders web of urine trails back to that spot. You don't really want him to try to cross the A47!
Looking at the map, was he on the Hallaton Road heading towards Tugby?
Take the other dog with you, and encourage him to pee in the area, and if he will to bark. That may encourage him to come to the sound.Last edited: 2011-08-14 16:30:34 by AJD - 2011-08-14 16:11 Tiamaat
- Thanks Ellie.
AJD - will do, but I hope he comes home before then. A month ago I lived in the village, not far from the church, which is where he was found when he got out only a couple of days after moving. He was soaking wet & we assumed he'd been on our normal walk down the bridle track and to the stream crossing in front of the barn. He was spotted this morning up the Hallaton road (other side of A47) at the top of the hill where you have to turn right by my landlord, but he would not get into his car. He hasn't been spotted since. I've checked the roads and all the fields he knows. So far nothing. - 2011-08-14 15:51 Ellie
- Thanks for extra photo image. I have also now alerted my Dog Club colleagues and other dog loving friends in the area.

- Would suggest you call Barry Briggs tomorrow morning if you haven't found him by then, (fingers crossed) he really is an absolute angel, and not too long ago spent half the night coaxing a missing dog to him. He is a mine of useful information.
Can you say exactly where he was spotted? Had he crossed the A47 when he was seen? Has he got road sense? Also, where in East Norton would he head too?Last edited: 2011-08-14 15:58:15 by AJD - 2011-08-14 15:05 Jytte - Area Volunteer - West Yorkshire

- Thanks AJD, phoned the Rutland number but got through to the same person as I spoke to this morning on the Harborough number, who confirmed that the Dog Warden is aware.

- I think that this must be A47 at KEYTHORPE near Tugby, and HALLATON. Would suggest you contact Barry Briggs, Rutland Dog Warden, who is very helpful, and may be able to offer advice. He can be reached on 01572 722577, and the Harborough Dog Warden is on 01858 82 11 33 Last edited: 2011-08-14 14:46:15 by AJD
