- Very please Star is now home but there's a few things I find worrying. Manchester City Council has completely contracted out the dog warden service to the private Animal Wardens company as far as I am aware, and I've come across problems with them and the way they deal with dogs in the past. It is entirely possible that Star wasn't able to get home if the AW service caught her, and I use the word advisedlyhere, since they have done this to dogs in Chorlton before.(Example being a really ancient old dog sleping outside his house on the grass:scooped in to the AW van; knocked on the equally ancient owner's door and demanded £50.00 to release the dog...they have lifted at least one dog who was with its owner on Chorlton Water park too-on the spurious grounds that it was on its own. I could give you so many oher examples, but you really do need to find out exactly why they were unable to find Star's microchip. And complain to your local councillors if they demand £75.00 because there's just too many dogs and owners being victims here.(I had to stop AW lifting a dog off private property a while back: a nice easy earner, albeit illegal in that instance.) Sorry if this sounds like a rant, but when all is not as it should be it really does need checking out. They scooped another ol dog off the pavement here a while back too wh was with his OAP owner-said the dog- another oldie- wasn't on a lead. The dog was meandering alongside her owner and another demand for payment made......

- It was Star and she will be home tomorrow - woo hoo!! . Star usually has a tag on her collar but had another collar on today, she is chipped though. Thanks for letting me know Gender Joker. I understand that you are not happy especially as you registered her details with the Animal Wardens. Most of the councils in the Manchester area use the Animal Warden service in the evenings and at weekend. Like I mentioned if they say they couldn't find her chip it might be worth getting it checked out by your vet, just check its still working and hasn't moved. Let us know when she is home. So pleased you found this gorgeous girl :)Last edited: 2011-08-14 23:05:26 by Jackalee (Kathryn) - Area Co-ordinator - Greater Manchester

- The Gender Joker, so pleased it was your gorgeous Star and well done to Jackalee for checking and contacting you. It will of been the Out of Hours Animal Warden who you have most probably been talking to and not the Dog Warden they are two different people. As Star is Chipped she should of been scanned and they could of contacted you directly if the details are up to date unless the checks have not been done yet. Jan x

- Since 12 today I have expected Star to come home like she usually does when she runs off in the fields near my house, but today she didn't so I looked for her, asked folks, left details at all the dog pubs and gradually worked myself into a frenzy for hours. I registered her lost by telephone with the dog warden and again on the site myself uploading a photo, but was not contacted by the dog warden and the day went by until doglost realised the dog lost and dog found post was virtually identical - thanks so much. I just called the dog warden and they will return her for a mere £75!? This is not ethical but shocking - a money making scheme out of dogs that are not really lost by private companies. Thanks so much doglost

- Spoke to AW's and the found 243365 is a female, possibly a collie x gsd. They have found the owner and are trying to get in touch with them at the moment. Tried Star's owner too but it is engaged. Will keep trying. Hope this is a match :)
