Millys Mum
Oh, that's really good news and what an improvement weightwise. I seem to recall he was 16k when he was taken in to the vets. And how lovely he's found himself and lovely new home in (presumably) Essex. Like ellejay, I would love to see a recent piccie. I bet he looks wonderful now as he does have such a lovely gentle face and the most gorgeous eyes. Wishing this lad much happiness, fun and good health in his new home! Is he still called Hope or have the family re-named him?Last edited: 2011-10-26 17:09:23 by Millys Mum

ellejay
Cor, this could well be Millysmum.. has anyone contacted Foal farm to tell them about Hope ?
Millys Mum
A friend alerted me to this story in the online News Shopper about a female adult and puppy black GSDs being dumped and all in an emaciated, mange-ridden state. They were dumped at the entrance to FOAL farm and 2 puppies were spotted and caught in West Wickham. I can't help but think that 'Hope' may be connected to the found bitch and puppies as the dates and areas tie in.

Hi doglady - yes, I'm certain this lovely lad will land on his feet (or should it be paws?!). The good news is that I also read that whilst at the vets he put on 4 kilos in weight, going from 16 to 20 kilos which is a brilliant achievement and all credit to the caring/devoted veterinary staff.
doglady
Hi Millys Mum I think you will find that Hope will be taken care of by the rescue, if foster cant do it after mid October I know the rescue that he is under and they are so good. :) ♥
Millys Mum
I'm so pleased to hear that this boy appears to be on the mend and so able to leave the care of the vets but, as Ashmark has posted, I read on the BIGGSD site that the fosterer says that she's only able to foster him until mid October (although things may have changed).
AlisonH
Millys mum has just let me know that Hope can only stay with his fosterer until mid October. So hope he finds a permenant home soon.

So happy for this gorgeous boy..He so deserves the TLC he must of been missing for a long time...Lots of big fat sloppy kisses and belly rubs :)xxx

I've just caught up with this thread and so pleased that this young man is off to be fostered.
What a very sad world we live in. There are so many cases of neglect and cruelty going through DL at the moment. I'm sure many of us never stop thinking of the poor mites who are passing through holding kennels and rescues. Jo.
BBKM
Oh so pleased Hope is getting better and is off to his foster home. This poor lad deserves the best after what he has been through and I'm sure that is what he will get at his foster home and his new forever home that I'm sure he won't wait very long for. Big gentle hug to Hope xx

GOOD LUCK HOPE. YOU SO DESERVE A WONDERFUL HOME XXX

I haven't had any more news on this lad and so can't help but wonder myself. Hope 'Hope' is okay and continuing to make a good recovery.

WHATS THE NEWS ON THIS BOY-IS HE OK?
ellejay
Aww poor Hope, come on boy you can pull through this, you are a tough little boy for what you been through.. sending big hugs his way xxx

An update from a potential fosterer on Biggsd (Alace)

Just to let you know that there have been a couple of setbacks and some more blood tests have had to be done so Hope is still at the Vets. This morning he has got chronic diarrhea I am in constant contact with Lyn and we are to contact the Vets again on Friday. So we have to keep waiting
dewilliams42
THANKS FOR THE UPDATE MILLYS MUM. HOW IS THIS LOVELY BOY DOING?
Millys Mum
dewilliams42 - Orpington is a built-area with a big (recently re-vamped) shopping centre and a mainline rail link into London. I don't know the details of how he was found but I believe I read on the BIGGSD site that the police took him to the vets but don't know whether a member of the public alerted them in the first place. I also don't know whether they and/or the RSPCA are investigating the case. I haven't heard from King's owner since we spoke last weekend and so don't know whether he has returned to the vets.

And yes, ellejay, I did want to give him a great big cuddle but he did look so serene and content just watching the activities and so I resisted the temptation (plus I don't think it would have been allowed!) and so just tickled his ears & feet.Last edited: 2011-09-09 22:09:09 by Millys Mum
ellejay
Great news that he is getting a little better each day, aww millysmum bet you wanted to give him the biggest cuddle.

Just read the link on the biggsd forum, and some wonderful person has offered foster for him, pray that this will happen for him. xx
dewilliams42
MILLYS MUM-WAS IT A BUILT UP AREA HE WAS FOUND? IF SO SOMEONE MIGHT HAVE NOTICED IF HE JUST COLLAPSED ON HIS OWN OR IF HE WAS PUT OUT OF A CAR. PERHAPS HOUSE TO HOUSE ENQUIRIES WHERE HE WAS FOUND MAY REVEAL SOMETHING. TO BE SO FRIENDLY AND TRUSTING HE MUST HAVE ONCE BELONGED TO SOMEONE WHO LOVED HIM. HAS KINGS OWNER BEEN TO SEE HIM AGAIN- NOW HE IS FEELING BETTER HE MAY RESPOND DIFFERENTLY?
Millys Mum
dewillliams42 - yes, I also wonder what the story is and whether his appearance by the roadside in Orpington was picked up by CCTV or whether any passers-by or drivers saw anything and could shed light on his terrible predicament.Last edited: 2011-09-08 14:03:22 by Millys Mum

THANKS MILLYSMUM FOR THE UPDATE. SO PLEASED HE IS DOING WELL. I WONDER WHAT HAPPENED TO HIM-SUCH A SHAME DOGS CANT TALK!!
Millys Mum
labmum & ellejay - 'Hope' appears to be doing well. I actually saw him with my own eyes this week and what a lovely gentle soul he is. He really is in the very best place for him in the condition he is in and, believe me, he's getting plenty of attention, veterinary care and TLC. He seems extremely contented and relaxed where he is.

Any news on Hope?

Poor thing - hope he gets a nice home. Liz xx
Millys Mum
I'v heard today that 'Hope' continues to do well and is eating well (small meals just every 2 hours or so). He's wagging his tail, sitting when asked and giving his paw. Bless him!
Judith
I believe Kings owner has other dogs. Maybe Hope would respond to one of them and them to him, they usually never forget each other.
I'm so hoping he is King and he can return to a loving home.
dewilliams42
MILLYS MUM- THANKS FOR LETTING ME KNOW. THEY CERTAINLY LOOK ALIKE AND PERHAPS WHEN HOPE PUTS ON A LITTLE WEIGHT AND GETS OVER HER TRAUMA IT MAY BE EASIER TO COMPARE. LOVELY IF IT WAS KING FOR BOTH DOG AND OWNER.
Millys Mum
dewilliams42 - King was entire when he went missing from his walk last December.
dewilliams42
SO PLEASED HOPE IS FEELING BETTER-POOR BOY TO BE SO CRUELLY TREATED. DO YOU KNOW IF KING WAS ENTIRE? THEY CERTAINLY LOOK SIMILAR AND IT WOULD HELP THE OWNER PERHAPS TO DECIDE. CUDDLES FROM ME.X
ellejay
Fern, thanks you so much for updates on this boy, what scum could mistreat such a gorgeous boy, beggars belief what some people are like.

Is ther any sign of a microchip being removed ? just wondered as you hear stories that this happens.

i just wanna bring him home to me and give him all the love and cuddles he so really needs, hopefully he will get that soon from a loving family. xxLast edited: 2011-09-05 08:31:28 by ellejay
fern
yes thankyou - he's improving every single day , such a gentle, kind boy, he has just started to get a waggy tail as he's able to move around now and loves a good fuss. will keep updated.
Millys Mum
fern - thank you for updating us and also for providing such good care. It certainly sounds as though he's in the right place and I'm sure a foster home or permanent home will be forthcoming. Is he managing to wag his tail as so many of these cruelty cases still manage to respond to kindness, despite what they've gone through? BTW King would have been 4/5 years old and it must be very difficult to gauge this dog's age. Thank you to the vets for agreeing to take him in and also for giving him the best possible chance of a (hopefully) full recovery.Last edited: 2011-09-04 17:34:31 by Millys Mum

To The owners Please do not give up in thinking this is not King he may not at the moment respond to you he is so ill and he needs time to heel. even when owners have not been away from there dogs as long, if they find the dog it will not always respond to you. So please keep up contact with this dog as it gets stronger it may well remember you. And you will see things in it that King and only King would know.
doglady
it dose not say on Kings post but was he entire or castrated. Because if he was castrated it may well have taken this long for the person or persons to realised he can not make puppy's so then just let the dog go and this dog as been trying to fend for its self. or chunked out. because the dog was of no use to them. Glad to read kings owners now know about this boy.

I did email them on Friday about this info, but had not heard anything back, so pleased they do know now.

Thanks millysmum for stepping in here, it must be awlful for them to see this dog in this condition, and sad knowing king has still not been reunited with them.

Yes colourings in dogs certainly do change, especially due to horrendous conditions poor diet etc.,

So it's a waiting game now, get this poor boy back to health and see if it is king, if they really don't think it is, I hope he gets a loving home anyways and pray king will turn up soon xx

will be following this very closely xx
doglady
Well done millys mum for getting in contact coat colour can change at any time. what ever condition. He may not respond to his name because of the length of time he as been away and also what he as been through also he may still be in shock. I hope with the care and time this boy will pull through. And also Kings owners going back may get a different reception from the dog as it would have had more treatment.
Millys Mum
Have just spoken to King's owner who has visited the vets where the found dog is being cared for. King's owner isn't 100% sure whether it's King as the dog is in such an awful state (but is also receiving the best possible care). Their heads are similar but no chip has been found which I'd thought wasn't surprising as this dog has lost so much body weight and muscle. Also, all four paws are sable coloured but I'm wondering whether this could be down to the conditions in which he was being kept and that urine, faeces and filth could have altered the colouring of the fur. King's owner was very traumatised and although he doesn't feel that it's King, he has asked to return to the vets in a few days to convince himself. He has my number and so will update me in due course.
Millys Mum
doglady - thanks for the post (and for your email). I haven't had a reply to my email but hope that King's owner has received a messsage about this lad. Also hoping that he's still eating and drinking okay to build up his strength. I wonder how he ended up there in such a terrible state.
doglady
John on BIGGSD put up on the forum that someone thought it may be there dog we are waiting for him to update us all. It may well be Kings owners going to see hopefully we will all know soon.
Millys Mum
I've just tried King's owner's landline number, without success and have also sent him an email asking whether his contact address and contact numbers are still the same. Although difficult to tell, it does seem possible that the found GSD and King are a possible match as Catford and Orpington are close to one another and perhaps less than 30 minutes by car. Poor lad - he looks so sad. Hope he's feeling better today after a whole load of TLC.Last edited: 2011-09-03 19:25:53 by Millys Mum

:( :( how sad for this boy,.. doe snot sound much hope of him being reunited.. though there was a black German Shepard missing in the beckenham area at the start of the year, do not think he was ever found.. think his name was king.. he was registered on here... wonder if we could try owners again.

though he could belong to people who just didnt care about him.. poor lad... i would take him in like a shot, but fella is allergic to long hair.

hope he is sorted soon, he needs some serious TLC . xxLast edited: 2011-09-02 14:17:29 by ellejay
