- Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Absolutelt wonderful news! I am over the moon! These collies are SOOOOOO clever! Well done, Dad for putting his crate out and well done Cyril, you did it boy! You got home! Fireworks are a very real problem with dogs, especially collies. If anyone reading this wants to help get a tighter law on the letting off of fireworks, there is a campaign for this. Try searching the internet or contact Dogs Trust/RSPCA for details and write you your MP. Well done to Cyril and his devoted Dad, or as they say "Nice one, Cyril!" xxx

- 2011-09-02 08:06 Cyril's dad
- All - last night I put Cyril's crate outside near where he bolted. This morning my boy was in it!! He has made his way back from over 3 miles away in countryside he doesn't know. His must have been travelling at night. So after 4 days and 5 nights, my clever clever boy is back home. The reunion was pure joy on both sides and tears on mine.
Thanks to all who helped. You don't know how much I appreciated the support and guidance. - 2011-09-01 22:02 Kimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
- He may well stay around that area looking for you, then hide for a rest and sleep. He will probably do a triangle circuit, back and forth, so do the scenting as Jotty has said. Very important. Keep safe Cyril, Daddy's coming for you. x

- Have shared on my Essex Dog FB group and had this posting from a member Cyril's dad, so worth you following her suggestions -
There's a pub there up near the Eastern end, on the old road which runs parallel, you could leaflet or poster there. Also send one to the Holmes family -they live in the Manor where the racecourse stables are. They are nice people. - 2011-09-01 20:47 Jo - Area Co-ordinator, Essex
- Fantastic news about the sighting Cyril's dad. Definitely as well as searching, as dawny said, get a good amount of posters up as then even more eyes looking so hopefully more sightings. I am going to email you some scenting guidelines - tried and tested before with good results. Have a read and give it a go. In the meantime if you happen to still be out before you read the scenting guidelines, if possible leave an article of clothing near where he was sighted....leave it somewhere safe, sheltered and quiet....he will recognise your scent and if near it may help to keep him around that area.

- I met a dog walker over at the center who had sighted Cyril tuesday in fields in Great Leighs near the Essex showground (chelmsford side) . I am walking those fields now (about 2 miles from where he was lost) but no sign. The sighting was him for sure though.

- Jotty will tell you what to do tonight, but right now you need to get those posters up, hundreds of them! Get them all around the area & at least 2 miles outwards in all directions & leave something that smells of you in the area he was lost. If you have any Railway lines, you must contact Network Rail as they do not always report dogs. Any roads, contact the local council or Highways Agency, they don't always check for chips. Someone may have taken him in. You need the world to know he is missing. Most of our dogs get back home. You CAN do this! POSTER everything and everywhere. You cannot have enough posters. Put an advert in the local press, or ask them to put a little article in. If you Facebook or Twitter do this far & wide; we will do it too. Any helpers out there will help you. Let's get this little sweetheart home. x

- Cyril's dad, I will be in contact with you this evening after work and I can advise a little more and give you some further places to contact too. Check that the microchip company have the correct details - presumably your mobile number is registered on there.
- 2011-09-01 12:02 Cyril's dad
- Have asked the local paper to put in a story with a reward of £100 of a sighting leading to Cyril's recovery. They will get back to me - If they won't run an article I will take out an ad.
This is his 4th day missing, my poor boy. - 2011-09-01 11:33 Cyril's dad
- Thank you. Just wanted to add that Cyril is likely to hide during the day - so if any of you are out in the area, please keep an eye out at headgerows, ditches, and other hidey holes.
If you aprroach him he will run - but if you call me on 07801452573, I will be there as fast as possible. It's quite unbearable being without him. - 2011-09-01 11:20 Jayne - Founder Doglost.
- Photo received and forwarded to Sable to reduce in size and put on site. Will do the mailing when photos are on.
- 2011-09-01 11:08 Cyril's dad
- Cyril was staying at my parent's house on White Court, Great Notely, Essex when he went missing. He was going out for his bedtime walk (11.00pm) when the neighbours let off some fireworks that spooked him. He has not come back. His dog tag has his London (home) address on it, and my phone number.
Cyril is a tri-colour Welsh sheepdog (Border Collie type). He is 4 years old and is a resue dog - he came from a farm in Wales where he had been badly mistreated, I have had him for 3 years and he has come from a very dark place to be a wonderful loving dog. Unfortunatley he is still scared by people - so if you see him please call me and I will come and get him and take him back to his home, where he is very very much missed.
He could still be in the Great Notely/Braintree area, or gone across fields towards, Rayne or Dunmow.
Any sighting - please please get in touch
