Welcome home Alfie - no more wandering - it's too expensive!

Pleased you're home little man .......but - bloomin 'eck - pretty expensive overnight stay!!It's not as if there's a change of sheets or freeby soaps in the bathroom. xxLast edited: 2011-09-19 22:57:50 by jobadger

Very glad Alfie is home. That's one steep fee for an overnight stay. (The police used to charge £5.00 a decade or so ago for B&B overnight). Manchester City Council contract out this service to Animal Wardens so a complaint to your local councillor might highlight the profit AW are making. Give Alfie a hug from us. I'm sure he'll appreciate his own bed tonight!Last edited: 2011-09-19 17:38:57 by doggo

Spoken to owner who is not very happy with the charges, Alfie is back home. I've gone through some things with owner about charges and given advice on getting Alfie CHIPPED who is only 6 months old. Mentioned to owner that he is at the age to go wandering especially with him not being neutered, it would be advisable to get him neutered a.s.a.p. If Alfie had ID on his finder would of been able to contact owner.

Into the BLUE you go Alfie sending you lots of hugs and cuddles. xxx

This the standard fee that the AW's charge, kennels charges can vary depending on the Council where dogs are picked up and whether the DW has been involved. I did send a text to owner earlier today for any news and they did reply saying they were waiting for the AW to get back. I'll try and contact owner a.s.a.p. x

Fantastic news that Alfie is not longer out on the streets. Unfortunately this is quite normal as he has been kept over night. I'm not sure how you would get around it, would they not let her pay in instalments? The entry on the AW site is already showing as re-united.

Please also see Star (reunited) ID 31875. The owner really was not happy as Star was chipped and she wasn't notified :(

e mail from owner...
Hi Jayne

The wardens have been on touch, they have Alfie, and are trying to charge me £61.50, I don’t have that sort of money so they are taking him to the dogs home. Is this usual?? I thinks it's an outrage that I can't get my dog back because I can't afford their fees. Surely this should be a free council service??

Is there no way around this?
