- Other Info Toby was last seen at Leasowes park after running away. We searched for hours but couldn't find him anywhere and are worried that someone has taken him. He is a 4 year old miniature schnauzer and was wearing a collar with our home telephone number on at the time he disappeared. He is salt & pepper in colour but is much darker than most salt & pepper schnauzers. He is microchipped. He has no other distinguishing features but is a shy and nervous dog, he is more likely to approach people walking

- I'm so sorry to hear what happened to this beautiful little boy. I would be just as upset to think of him out there on his own, looking for me and his home if it were my dog.
Emily, I can understand your anger with the person who let him off the lead (and yours, Claire). I would be livid. It's no person's business to let a dog that is not theirs off the lead. What makes someone think a dog that isn't theirs is going to stick by their side? I almost lost mine under similar circumstances and have never let him be walked by anyone else again. I was lucky that he made his own way to our back gate.

- I understand how you feel Emily, my dog was also lost, never to be seen again, nearly a year ago and I felt very angry at the person who was walking her at the time. However, after a lot of tears and strong feelings and emotions I came to accept that awful things happen to our 4 legged companions and that sometimes it's nobody's fault. Thinking of you and your little friend xx

- Just to update everyone, we have just picked up our sweet little Toby. The person who found him does not wish to be contacted but the council told us that he was found by a man yesterday morning sleeping behind his back gate. The man went to stroke him to wake him up but unfortunately he didn't open his little eyes. I can only assume that my little angel has gone searching for home and got lost, settled down for the night and fell asleep, not to wake up again. He was found around 3 miles away (in Cradley Heath) from where we lost him, he had to cross so many roads and even a railway to get to where he was so I am so greatful he was not hurt on his way but it breaks my hurt so much to imagine him on his own trying to find his way home. He walked for miles to find us and I'm so heartbroken that I couldn't find him before it was too late.
RIP my little angel, I can't express how much he meant to me and I can't believe I have lost him. He was so young, not even 4 years old (it would have been his 4th birthday next month). I hope that where ever he is, he still knows that I love him so much.
Thankyou so much for the lovely messages everyone. It really warms my heart at times like this to realise the kindness of strangers x

- Thankyou so much for the kind comments everyone, it means so much to me. I am absolutely devastated that I have lost my little best friend and companion, he really was a gorgeous boy and meant the world to me. I took him everywhere and I cannot begin to express how hurt I am. It breaks my heart to imagine him feeling alone, I don't know what happened to him but all I can say is that if I could do anything to bring him back, I would. Unfortunately it was not me who was walking him at the time of his disappearance and I'm feeling a lot of anger towards the person who let him off the lead but I know I shouldn't. I just hope that he is somewhere better now, playing with all of his friends and wagging his little tail.
Thankyou x - 2011-09-19 19:34 Doglover

- I am just writing to inform you about my dog. I am in absolute pieces right now, I posted a lost dog post on your website this morning but unfortunately he has been found dead in someones garden, he was collected by the council and microchip checked. I am so upset and don't know what to do, we don't know how he died but please could you remove the lost dog notice for Toby. I miss him so badly, he was my best friend and an absolutely gorgeous dog, I am in shock at the moment and really don't know how I am going to cope with this but thankyou to your co-ordinators and helpers, I really appreciate everyones kindness.
Many thanks and kind regards,
Emily - 2011-09-19 16:35 Bilbo's Mum

- I am not too far away, so will keep a look out for him. Maybe he is hiding because he is scared. Have you asked B&Q if they will put a poster up? Liz xxLast edited: 2011-09-19 16:35:51

- I work close to the park. Will spread the word. Manor vets are quite close to the back of the park. If not already done so, it may be worth letting them know in case someone picks him up.
