- This is a rare comment from me -- Dora was an Ibi, she went missing for over 3 months, and thanks to this site and several helpers, i re- captured her in a dog trap, set with a neck of lamb and filled with nice smelly pilchards, worked a treat, Dora changed location every 2 weeks and hunted everything from the local bins to rabbits. getting a sighting is the main thing but do not approach as he may change location, if sighted contact the owner, he may come to the owners call, probably no one else`s, if sighted feed the area pilchards are my favorite and he will come running, as he will not want another animal to take his pilchards. please keep your distance when trying to catch and Ibi through experience i know they will change location when disturbed, I will try to contact the owner tomorrow morning. I may be able to come and help on Saturday. ... Dora`s dad

- appreciate the scenting may be too late now,, in view of the timescale, however anything is worth a try if you havent already done it. x

- have been in ibizan hounds in england and wales 20 yrs,,, firstly this is a long time for him to have been missing now, i have not read all the comments as yet, but was he lost nr to home area ? and i maybe reiterating obvious points here , but may just help....have you gone back to where you originally lost him recently,,,, although ibizans do run great distances, i also know that when i lost my ibizan in a 23 mile long forest, when we found her which i hasten to add was only 2 hrs later she was trying to make her way back to our previous location.....so worth going back out and check within a 3 mile radius in case he has been injured and has tried to make his way back but not made it and holing up somewhere... sorry if i am reiterating stupid things, but also is there another dog in the house and have you taken this dog out to the are on a long lead,,,, as they know one anothers scent better than you do and may pick up on something,,, have you asked local gundog men out to see if they can pick a scent up.....gundogs are excellent at scenting as are search and rescue dog societies, have you tried these ? hope anything in here may help if you havent tried already. so sorry for you, hope you find him

- How's the search going - any news or sightings alan?
- 2011-10-03 11:17 greyhoundalan
- We don't know who you spoke to TTT as neither of us have been asked to confirm date Bailey went missing which was 29th Aug.

- Please don't forget that not every one knows about doglost & the help that it can give owners - Baileys owners were possibly directed to us by someone trying to help them after the initial date of loss - lets please do everything we can to help publicize Bailey and help and assist his owners in every way that we can. Posters once again will be key to getting sightings or information

- Surely it is in the dog's interests to put all differences aside and let as many people know of the situation as possible? I have no idea who bred your dog, Ibizan's are not a breed I am very familiar with and I hope that you are reunited with Bailey very soon. My original query with your wife was whether the date's were correct as on your poster you say he was lost on 29 August but it only came up on DogLost on 22 Sept.

- Does this last comment have the welfare of our beloved Bailey at heart? Bailey came to us from Ibby rescue 2yrs ago to keep Aurora (Kathy's remaining Ibizan following the peaceful death of Kyro,Ch Akh-Anubis Seven Seas of Rye)and ourselves company. Our understanding is that his previous owner had clearly specified that he was not to be returned to his breeder who rang us the morning before TTT's post. As Kathy has reasons to dislike Bailey's breeder and does not trust her she told her to get off the phone. We love Bailey and are more than grateful for all the friends, strangers, etc who are giving us their help, time and support.

- Owners will need to poster far and wide. I have some experience of these amazing hounds from when I lived on the island and had a pair... they are real Houdinis - their hunting instincts are very highly developed and they can and will run many miles, inc overnight. 15/20 miles would not be unusual; and most will worry sheep as well as kill chickens and rabbits etc. Good luck, I do hope he's found soon

- Sorry to see Bailey is missing. I shall email you some advice sheets etc that have some contact details on. How did he go missing?
Can't emphasise enough how crucial posters are, the more the better. They can be downloaded here from Bailey's page if needed. Please ensure you notify the microchip company, at the same time making sure all the details they hold for you are correct and up to date.
I will share his page on FB including on the pound kennel for that area's page. - 2011-09-22 16:29
- Sorry to see that BAILEY is missing.
- If your dog is microchipped please let the microchip company know that your dog is missing and check that all details are up to date.
- Owners targeted by a malicious hoaxer demanding money for the return of their dog should phone the police on 101 immediately and contact admin@doglost.co.uk
- A photograph of your dog is essential for the website. If you have not already uploaded one, please do so by clicking on Update details. Alternatively you can email it to admin@doglost.co.uk quoting the dog's DogLost ID number: (32943)
- Obtain a missing poster by clicking on View poster above. Posters are very important so start postering now!
- You will need to be logged in to upload photos, edit your dog's details, or add comments. You can add comments by clicking on Click here to add a comment.
- Contact dog wardens, vets and local rescue centres, and in Scotland, the Police. Give a detailed description with any distinguishing marks/scars or send them a copy of your DogLost poster. You can find vets in your area here.
- If your dog has been stolen inform the police immediately and obtain a crime reference number (CRN). Send an email to stolen@doglost.co.uk.
- If your dog is picked up and taken to rescue kennels, it can be legally re-homed after seven days. Visit rescue centres in person and do not rely on checking by phone alone. Other people may not recognise your dog by your description, so give them a DogLost poster.
- Keep us updated by keeping your dog's page up to date and check for posts from helpers who may have suggestions and possible matches or sightings
