- Yes dog's intelligence can never be underestimated. Joey knew what he was doing and he doesn't want his family to be sad he had a great life!

- Joey has that look that all wise old dogs have and his dignity and way to heaven confirms they are much more intelligent than sometimes given credit for. Very sad but also a time to celebrate the life of a wonderful dog until you meet Joey again. RIP dear boy x

- How heartbreaking - I am so very sorry. I can tell that Joey was a much loved pet, had lived to a good age, and knew what he had to do when his time came. My thoughts are with his family at this awfully sad time. Run free at the bridge dear Joey, you were a beautiful boy xx

- Owners, I am so, so sorry to hear this very sad news. This is not the first time a dog has done this. Sometimes, I believe that when a beloved dog needs to go to heaven, he has to leave his owners to do it as it would be too hard to go if they were with him. But he made sure he could be found; what a brave lad he is and now he is happy & healthy once again watching over you until you meet again. God bless you and sweet Joey - you brave little chappie! x

- Joey has the same knowing and wise look that my dog Milo had, and he did the same thing. It's instinct and he didn't want you to see him suffer. God bless Joey. What a lovely dog.

- We all know how hard it is when it's time for your friend to go... Joey did it in his own way but is home now for you to bury... feel for you all, in time all those happy memories you shared will come back and you'll be able to look back and smile at all the happy times you spent together... take care Jackie xxxx

- Run free on the next world, dear Joey. As he was clearly at the very end of his life I am not surprised, but I am relieved that his body has been found so his people can give him a decent burial.

- No matter what we want, sometimes our friends want to do things their way. This doesn't make things any easier and I'm so sorry for your loss. Joey came home in his own way. Sweet dreams - sleep tight, lovely boy. xx

- I had a mail from Joey's owner last night - Its with a very heavy heart that i have to let you all know that Joey was found yesterday on neighbouring farm, Joey had passed away.
Joey's owner would like to thank everyone for all your support and help in trying to find Joey.

R.I.P. Joey, run free little one, run pain free over the rainbow bridge xxxx - 2011-10-03 21:46 Jumanji - Co-ordinator.South.Yorkshire
- Thanks Jam79,Sadly there is still no news of Joey. His owners have searched the area as thoroughly as thay can but think he may have gone off to die somewhere on their farm. I have urged them to make sure that they contact the stray kennels for their area to be certain he has not been taken there as I have known of very elderly dogs with poor mobility managing to wander off much further than their owners thought possible.

- I'm really sad that we didn't find him today in spite of dry weather and hardly any breeze. The problem was that during the previous day he was very restless and had pottered around the farm, sheds and stables non stop, and as a result had carpeted the whole area with fresh scent. This made it impossible for Wispa to pick out a trail leading to wherever he ended up. It's possible I suppose that he might have made it down the track to the road and got picked up, and Wispa did show a bit of interest down there, but judging by how frail he was last night it is hard to believe he could have got that far.
- 2011-09-24 21:40 Maggie
- I have sent out info and advise, also asked if they have a photo of Joey to put on his page.
Hope Joey is found very soon x - 2011-09-24 20:10 Nigel and Cathy
- I know Joeys family and they are desperate to get him home. Thanks to Phoebe and Wispa for tracking him today. Lets hope he is found very quickly....xx
