So pleased for you, amazing that people just buy dogs without checking provenance, but at least in this case the new owner did the right thing in the end. Wonder how successful his hunting was??? Stay safe now, Jack, so glad you were microchipped too!xx

Email from Jack's owners

Just to say a huge thank you to you all at doglost. I am in no doubt that with out you we would not have jack home. My kids are over the moon. Jack looks fine a bit thinner and with a few battle scares on his face but otherwise fine. It seems he had been bought as a working dog for ratting, rabbiting ect and had been well used, hence the scared face (but sure they will fade). He was in with other terriers in a kennel so I am hoping he now appreciates his spot on the sofa!

I cannot post this against his page at the moment so would appreciate if you could let everyone know how grateful we are and thank you for all the kind messages.

Hi I work for a local animal rescue centre near Blandford, i will keep my eye out we have been in contact with Michelle (East Warden) about Jack, Michelle and myself are keeping an eye out. The more public you make it the better Travellers do not like adverts! as they are more likely to get caught out!! If you would like to send me some flyers/posters i will get them up for you!Regards Gemma

Hi, I live in BH22 (West Moors). Please let me know if you would like me to put up posters anywhere or help in any way. There are several vets in West Moors, ferndown, Verwood, ringwood - have they already been notified? also, does Michelle the East dorset Dog Warden know? She is really lovely and often knows where temporary travellers sites are.

Spoke to Jack's owner yesterday and he is sending me some flyers etc to distribute around Somerset/Avon area.

Apparently farm machinery in the area disappeared at the same time as Jack. I leave you to draw your own conclusions.

This all sounds so very similar to Buddy (black Patterdale) who went missing a few days earlier in a neighbouring county and was found in a rubbish bin.

Thank you Ashmark for helping the owners of Jack, I have put him forward for Countrymans Weekly due to the new information. pleased to see that the police are taking this seriously.

Email from Jacks owner.

Our dog Jack went missing on 5th October, Unfortunatly he still has not been found. We have still been busily putting up posters to try and jog a memory. However yesterday we recieved a phone call from a lady that had found half of jacks collar. the collar still had the disc on and appeared to have been cut. This has convinced us that he must have been stolen. The collar was found about 1/2 a mile from home chucked in the hedge row. I have reported it to the police who are now going to log his disappearence as a theft, where they were reluctant previously. Just got to keep trying. I also managed to get a piece in our local paper which mentioned doglost and your help.

Am bumping to top due to newspaper article.Last edited: 2011-10-19 11:19:45 by AlisonH
