- Great news. Thank you to the caller who phoned in from Sandplace this morning. Owners got there and followed him for some distance, he then got into a garden and it was only when owner got close he recognised them. Wonderful he is safe now.

- TYE IS BACK HOME!!!! :D
YAY!
The family has just returned, and he is upstairs with them, very thin apparently, but well. He's having a small bite to eat, chicken and rice I believe.
I haven't seen him yet. No doubt I will at some point, through the window when he goes out into the garden, he might not want to venture down the stairs at this point. I expect he'll want a few quiet days to recover from his adventure.
Then I expect he'll be back, wanting his regular suppertime treat from me!
Huge thanks to everyone who has helped to spread the word about him and offer support. It was only through this latest sighting that we caught up with him. - 2011-10-22 17:05 Helen
- Many thanks, Spindle.
And we've just had yet another sighting, up near Sandplace again I believe. The family has just rushed out to see if they can find him.
The couple who saw him said he still looked well, and was crossing the bridge there. - 2011-10-22 11:07 Spindle
- Talked to owner this morning, 2 more sightings yesterday. One at North Muchlarnick in morning then in evening at Sandplace. Given advice. Last edited: 2011-10-22 12:24:57 by Spindle

- This is fantastic news. Any idea where he might be sleeping yet?
- 2011-10-21 12:43 Helen
- Tye has been sighted!
He was seen at Trefany Hill once again this morning. Of course the family rushed out there and have been searching all around, unfortunately with no luck. But we are encouraged by the fact he's still in the area and going strong according to the farmer who saw him from 50 yards away.
Unfortunately he's still running from strangers though, as the farmer said he took off as soon as he saw him.

- Thanks Moogie.
Still no more sightings I'm afraid. Please keep spreading the word, he must be somewhere. - 2011-10-19 19:53 Moogie - Area Volunteer, Cornwall
- Just emailed network Cornwall members (just under 3000) with info on Tye, details, links and recent sightings. Hope it brings some sightings
- 2011-10-19 09:25 Helen
- No sightings or news yesterday I'm afraid. The family and a couple of helpers from the Greyhound Rescue West of England went out looking again in the afternoon, but without more reported sightings I'm not sure we're achieving that much. We really need more sightings so if folks can help us with postering the area that would be excellent.
Thanks for your help Whippetlover, and yes, the dog warden knows, as do all the local rescues, kennels, vets and the postman. - 2011-10-17 22:04 Whippetlover
- Hi Helen. I've been busy sharing Tye's facebook page on lots of dog welfare pages, sighthound pages and cornish pages. Hopefully its increasing awareness.
Postering and speaking to people in the area around where he has been sighted is key to getting him back so please keep this up. Have you informed dog warden, rescues, police and pounds? Also would suggest talking to the local postmen.Last edited: 2011-10-17 22:11:11 by Whippetlover - 2011-10-17 20:29 Angus
- Yes Helen, let us know if you get sightings as we can keep him in the public eye, good luck with the sightings - remember to plot them on a map with dates, times and direction of travel if possible - this may give you some clues as to the area he is finding shelter - look at google earth for barns - hay stacks , stables where he may be sleeping
- 2011-10-17 19:30 Helen
- Thanks for bumping it to the top, I didn't realise this happened after a sighting.
Yes, we had two phone calls this morning saying he was seen yesterday at Coldrennick farm.
Then this afternoon someone said he was seen in Pelynt on Saturday.
No sign of him today though. We've been out with fresh posters/fliers. - 2011-10-17 19:09 Angus
- bumped for the sighting - any news ?
- 2011-10-17 18:52 Whippetlover
- Can somebody at Dog's Lost PLEASE BUMP this due to yesterday's sighting?
- 2011-10-17 12:32 Helen
- We've just had a couple of phone calls letting us know Tye was seen yesterday morning at Coldrennick Farm, Trefany Hill on the way to Pelynt. (I may not have spelt all this right).
The family are on their way there now. - 2011-10-17 12:31 Helen
- Thank you very much Michelle, that's excellent.

- Oh forgot to mention. I have put Tye on Pirate FM lost and Found pets for you.

- Hi Helen, I have posted Tye's doglost details on all the missing dog facebook pages I know. Will keep an eye out for him when on my own searches. Have you tried scenting a trail home from the woods? If not start bottling you urine to use to trail a way home. (know it sounds nasty but it sometimes works) Also even sit in the woods quietly where Tye went missing and have some smelly food with you, this may catch his nose and come to investigate. try to stay positive.
- 2011-10-16 21:24 Helen
- Hmmm, Facebook wants me to confirm my account by mobile phone to set up a named page, but we have no signal here.
Maybe I'll get the text tomorrow, but I expect by that time it'll be too late for FB. - 2011-10-16 20:34 Whippetlover
- Hi Helen. Now you've got 25 'fans' you can apply for your named Facebook Page. Something like http://www.facebook.com/FindTye. This will be much better for putting on posters or if you decide to put an advert in the press.
Don't worry all the links that have already been set up will automatically direct to this page when you change its name but make sure you don't make any mistakes with the name because you can't change if afterwards. - 2011-10-16 20:26 Helen
- Many thanks Ice, that's much appreciated.
- 2011-10-16 17:31 icemac14
- i have shared on my facebook as live in lostwithiel and have friends in and around your area,so we will keep a look out hope you find him soon x
- 2011-10-16 16:55 Whippetlover
- Also shared on Plymouth Pavilions FB page. Incidentally, in order to share a link, you have to become a 'fan' of the page you are wanting to leave your link.
With regards to postering, you need to go beyond the immediate area.Last edited: 2011-10-16 16:58:39 by Whippetlover - 2011-10-16 16:06 Helen
- We spent the first couple of days putting up posters and distributing leaflets so everybody in the immediate area knows about Tye now.
Unfortunately we haven't had a sighting of him for a couple of days now though. So although we think it's most likely he's still in the same area it's possible he has moved further afield.
And if he's wandered away I figured social nets might be worth a try. - 2011-10-16 15:39 Whippetlover
- Hi Helen
The best advice I think anyone will give is to flood the area with posters. Have you got anybody to help you with this? Unfortunately I am too far away.
Any volunteers? - 2011-10-16 15:18 Helen
- I figured I should add that Facebook fan page while I'm here:

- Hi Whippetlover and Majorjet. Many thanks for your efforts and advice.
I'm doing my best with Facebook as a FB novice. I shall see what else I can find especially amongst any local groups. Suggestions gratefully received.
Unfortunately still no news about where he is. The family have been out again today looking but no one has seen him again today.Last edited: 2011-10-16 15:13:38 by Helen - 2011-10-16 14:13 Whippetlover
- Ive shared your link to Tye's page on Whippet Rescue Ireland, Wood Green Rescue & Whippet Appreciation Society (I think you might have shared it on a different group to the one I was talking about). Try also sharing on local business FB pages.
Also, I noticed on the Scruples Page you didnt actually share the link directly to his page - so make sure you include that!Last edited: 2011-10-16 14:31:38 by Whippetlover - 2011-10-16 13:54 Whippetlover
- Good to see you've now set up a facebook page for Tye and are already attracting 'fans'. Also, I see you have posted on the Scruples Whippet Rescue FB page. There are several other whippet groups where it would also be worth posting on such as Whippet Rescue Ireland (attracts alot of UK fans), as well as greyhound pages, rescues etc. It doesn't matter if they are not local. The more people interact on your FB page, the more it will be visible to others.Last edited: 2011-10-16 14:34:58 by Whippetlover

- Hi Helen. It would be better to set up a facebook fan page. When you have got 25 fans (easy) you can then get a dedicated page like www.facebook.com/findtye. This will be easier for people to remember rather than www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100003068910424&sk=wall
Also, it means that people can start posting on the page straight away rather than having to wait for you to agree individually to each friend request.
This link will take you through the steps: http://www.facebook.com/pages/create.php
Once you've got the page set up ask everyone you know who is on facebook to become a fan. Go on to a couple of whippet facebook pages such as Scruples Whippet Rescue and Whippet Appreciation Society and ask people to 'Like' your page. Then when you've got your 25 fans you can apply for your easy to remember named page.Last edited: 2011-10-15 23:10:45 by Whippetlover - 2011-10-15 21:55 Majorjet (Jan) - Area Co-ordinator - Liverpool/Merseyside, North West
- Helen I've updated the details to show up on his DogLost poster and also added the name of his Facebook page. Keeping everything crossed he is back home soon. Good luck. x
- 2011-10-15 21:39 Helen
- I've just emailed admin asking if a note can be added to the posters mentioning how timid he is as yes, this is certainly a problem. I expect he would have been home by now if he didn't run from people trying to help him.
I've also set up a page for him on Facebook here: http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100003068910424&sk=wall
I'm a facebook novice so don't know if this is any help, but if folks out there can link to him or "friend" him or whatever maybe this will spread the word a bit more?
- 2011-10-15 20:31 Whippetlover
- Hi Helen. Its still early days - Poppy the whippet has just been found after almost one month on the run. I think it would be good to mention that she should not be approached on the posters - See Dana's poster (missing dog 31884). Hope you find her soon.
- 2011-10-15 20:08 Helen
- Many thanks to everyone who has distributed posters and helped to spread the word about Tye. Unfortunately we haven't found him yet but are still looking.
There were several sightings of him yesterday but none today.
Unfortunately he is a very timid boy and runs away from people who try to approach him. So if you see him the best thing to do is just to phone rather than trying to approach him. - 2011-10-15 19:39 rachelhayball
- Have circulated Tyes poster and info on facebook, i have lots of friends who live in the area who are going to pass Tyes info on. Have also put Tye on Scruples Whippet Rescue facebook page and will put a link to this page on our forum.
- 2011-10-15 18:36 Whippetlover
- Have there been any sightings yet?
