We are absolutely gutted to let you all know that Fred's collar and remains have today been found, about half a mile away from where we last saw Fred. We so hoped for a happy ending and know that so many of you were routing for him. Fred meant so much to me and dean and touched the hearts of so many more around him, it breaks my heart to be writing this post. Thank you again to everyone who helped look for him you - your support has been incredible. We will never forget our boy and the happiness he brought us x

Thanks for the tips MacIntosh - sadly I missed the mobile library but lots of posters have now gone up in the area (including the school) and the local postie is also on the case which is encouraging. Great to see a dog reunited today (Simba) that's been out in the wild as long as Fred - going to try hitting the vets and readvertising him in the paper this week.

RE Minsterworth: Do consider a poster at the drs - Highnam Surgery GL2 8DH - they cover Minsterworth. There is village hall on the main road; the teachers are back today to school, located on the main road ,so drop a poster to them too. Behind the school, down the lane is the church and more houses towards the river so perhaps poster there too. Good luck and keep Fred's profile hot !!
PS: noticed the mobile Library van is in the village 10am @ The Firs, Main Road and school tomorrow @10:30am worth a try to spread the word if you can get thereLast edited: 2012-01-03 18:20:19 by MacIntosh

Hi Clarkey thanks for the tips - some great ideas. I have both brothers at the meet today so I've asked them to put some posters up and spread the word. We've also had a potential sighting closer to where he went missing in Minsterworth - we've walked the area this afternoon and put up posters. Quite remote and no local shops/central meeting places so difficult to spread the word here. We've put a poster in the village pub and through the doors of the people who look like their land is where he was spotted - will continue our efforts here this week. Neighbark thanks too for your comments - I've just renewed all ads on Preloved, trade it etc... Keeping positive that we'll have him back with us soon
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
As there was a sighting near the racecourse .. how about asking the local trainers to keep an eye open for Fred? Many of the horses are exercised on Cleeve Hill and surrounding areas in the early hours of the day. I am sure local trainers would be prepared to put posters up. Also would be worth putting posters into the local pubs that the racing community use. Perhaps you could go to the racecourse to get them to put some posters in the trainers/owners bar and around the course. There is a MEETING THERE TOMORROW Sunday 1st January. Horsey people are doggy people and usually more than happy to help. Good luck.
Mollychops
Thanks Neighbark great ideas . Owners are doing fantastically seearching every avenue . Wejust need to as you say keep this lovely boy high profile so everyone is aware he is missing x
Mollychops
Sighting yesterday of a white poodle type in Minsterworth Glos. This area is only a short distance south from Highnam. The dog was seen in a sheep field, and yes it might have been mistaken for early lamb. But the person who saw the dog said it was a dog . This would be brilliant if it were Fred, Owners are going off there tomorrow
Neighbark
Is it time to do the vet's rounds again? Taking posters to them in person, asking for the posters to go up in the middle of their notice boards, also are u searching and advertising him in Prelove and Gumtree websites? Keep going, keep searching, make him too hot to handle, make him super-famous, keep him in people's minds......(good luck).
jody
We just want to wish all the hard working doglost team a very merry christmas from Dean and I - especially Sue and Phoebe who have gone above and beyond in trying to help us find Fred. You guys and the organisation have been a tower of strength for us these past few weeks. We remain ever hopeful that Fred will, in the not too distant future, move to the reunited section of the site-until then hope you guys enjoy the christmas festivities x.
jody
Just a quick update, posters are still going up and spreading further afield thanks to some fab cvolunteers in the area (maria - the animal magic fb page is a fab help). We're hoping to get him in the Echo newspaper tomorrow or Christmas Eve too. Let's hope it jogs someone's memory and brings us some news....
jody
Sadly no new news this week- we've been across to prestbury and walked all round the racecourse where there was a potential sighting last weekend. No sign but we've postered the whole area and spoken to as many walkers as we could, we were back this weekend covering bishops cleeve and trying to replace posters in and around glos. Very pleased to see dilly (a little dog lost in the same area a week or so ago) has now turned up safe and sound...still holding out hope we get a happy ending with fred too.
Mollychops
left message for an update, thanks so much Maria, you are doing a fab job as always!

Had a call today from a rambling group in cleeve who think they may have spotted Fred very near to the racecourse in cheltenham, near to prestbury village today whilst out walking. A lady had previously seen my poster and called me this afternoon, description def fits. I followed her call up and spoke to the rambling organizer and again he confirmed info-dog was on his own and was the right size and description for Fred, also a number of dog walkers in the vicinity seemed concerned to try and find out who he belonged to. My husband is heading across tomorrow to search the area and get more posters up...this would be the best present ever. Last edited: 2011-12-11 21:10:06 by jody

Owner is now targetting the Hartbury area, I will alert farmers locally, I so hope this might be Fred as it really isnt far from where he went from. This is really giving his lovely owner a boost who is doing everything she can to find himXX

Jody there may hve been a possible sighting of Fred in Hartpury, someone remembers a dog similar to Fres, but this was a couple of weeks back I will try you tonight x Last edited: 2011-12-09 18:50:36 by Mollychops

Thanks for this Susie, I emailed the co-ordinator of the site today to let her know about Fred, I've also called round all the wardens and national rail, everyone seems to be aware of him but still no news...some encouraging reunited stories on the site this week so keeping everything crossed x
SUSIE
Hi jody sorry to hear that Fred has not shown up yet. Please check the following website and possibly contact them if you havent yet it is worth a try. http://www.bichonfriserescue.co.uk/contactus.html Fingers crossed x
jody
We still haven't given up on our search for Fred, new posters have now been put up in pubs/Christmas venues in the hope that we can keep Fred in people's minds over the festive period - if anyone has any other ideas of things we could be doing, please let us know.
jody
Thanks Sue that'd be great. Got our hopes up about the Bichon that was found in Wales on Wed but he's definately not Fred - we've just had photos come through - I've added some more info on this one to the 'found' page though just in case it may help someone else identify him. Lots and lots of new posters have gone up this week which keeps us hoping that he will be sighted/found soon.
Mollychops
Teckels fundraiser this Saturday might. I will take some posters of Fred to hand out
Mollychops
Nothing new to report , but owner is never giving up !! She would really appreciate help postering the Gloucester area , Thanks everyone who have done so much to look for Fred XX
scootjockey
Interesting post by jenny. Sorry its not fred, good luck xxxx
jody
We hired thermal cameras over the weekend and searched extensively all of the barns etc in the area - gutted that we didn't pick up anything. The chap below kindly called me back to say that the dog in question had been returned to it's owner- so sadly this is also not Fred. We had further press coverage in the Citizen on Saturday and I'm busy laminating posters - if there are any volunteers in or around Gloucester that could put some up for me that'd be much appreciated. If anyone can think of any other ideas - please let me know.
Mollychops
owner has now put Freds advert on lots of websites Tradeit etc as missing over the weekend
jody
Hi jenny thanks for the link, it looks like the dog has already been reunited but I have emailed the person just in case. Will keep you posted.

Hi everyone, is there anyone that might be able to help put up new posters in and around gloucester (the wider spread the better). We have had new posters made, to highlight Fred's still missing and could really do with a hand getting them put up in as many places as possible. I plan to laminate tomorrow and then can send them out to anyone willing to help - I think now this is our best possible chance at trying to get Fred back and keeping awareness high.
If anyone could help, we'd really appreciate it.
Jody.
jody
Hi Lizzy
Fred isn't a Many Tears dog, we bought Fred from advert who said that he needed a new owner as his had died. It was very obvious when we brought him home that he hadn't been 'owned' before; he was very scared of people, not house trained, had no idea what a lead was etc etc. To cut a long story short, we started looking into the chap we bought him from and realised he was regularly advertising dogs with similar stories, and having reported him to the RSPCA it turns out he is part of a bigger investigation with them for selling puppy farm animals.
After an op to get rid of his ear infections and remove 10 teeth (!) Fred has made so much progress over the past 4 months; he's housetrained, loves walking on his lead, got used to noise and whilst he's still afraid of people he'd made a lot of progress with us; he likes nothing better than having his tummy tickled! We are just so desperate to get him back, we would literally do anything x.
Unknown
Is he a Many Tears dog?
Mollychops
Fred has again been put in local paper . Owners doing loads , searching postering etc
jody
Still no sightings, we're hoping he's coming out at night which would explain why no-one has seen him. No joy on the thermal cameras either although we have had people come forward with suggestions. Friends and family out again over the weekend looking, but there are so many places he could be hiding it remains difficult to narrow the area. Hoping for another article in the paper this week.
Animal Magic Chelt
Fingers crossed for news at the weekend.

jody
Had some great help this week from friends and family to keep up the search, still no sightings but further press coverage planned for next week to keep everyone aware of our lost boy, we have also put a facebook request out to see if anyone has a thermal imaging camera to help search the farms in the area at night...if anyone in the dog lost community has any contacts too pls let us know, thanks.
Mollychops
Jody , yo are doing brilliantly, keeping positive is very hard , well done you are doing a wonderful jobX
jody
Two days out searching and quite a lot of ground covered. No sightings but given how timid Fred is we're not losing hope. Very encouraging news from an animal communicator and a lovely lady called Phoebe which is keeping us motivated. There are so many places for Fred to hide we're going to keep searching until we have a solid reason to stop, pls continue to keep fred in your thoughts x
Mollychops
Nothing today, owner is going out tomorow to spend the day in the area
Mollychops
There has been apossible sighting of Fred today , near Pool Ground and Hilcrest. So Ive bumped his page up. Owner could not be doing more to get Fred back, she is working tirelesly day and night ,well done you Jody XXLast edited: 2011-11-06 19:15:42 by Mollychops

Long day today out searching woods and looking in any holes Fred may have hidden himself in, but sadly no luck, no news on the potential sightings either. Really wish he was home safe on tonight of all nights. Continued thanks to everyone who is helping with the search, more searching planned for tomorrow and plan to update posters, will keep everyone posted.

Thanks nighthawk x
nighthawk
we are out looking today as in Bishops Cleeve x stay safe little Fred x
jody
Had a possible sighting of a dog like Fred in Bishops Cleeve nr Cheltenham. It's quite a distance from where we last saw him but if anyone lives near the area and they can keep there eyes peeled-that'd be great. Will try and get posters out there tomorrow and start asking around, the lady who spotted him is going to keep an eye out too.
jody
Hi everyone, just a quick update; still no confirmed sightings despite a lot of coverage in the area. We were having food taken from a particular spot near where Fred was last seen, but this has stopped since Monday, which is really disheartening. We've stepped up contact to vets and groomers today. Lots of people still walking the area so still keeping hopeful for a sighting.
Maggie

bumped due to coverage in local paper, the Citizen. Owner has had a couple of calls that may be possible sightings, they are very local to the area, and posters are up in these areas already.

Food laid down again on Saturday and Sunday and both taken this time, we laid Sunday's on top of sand and have lots of footprints which are the right size for Fred....very much keeping our fingers crossed. We are hoping to lay a trap later to see what's eating the food. To keep Fred in everyone's awareness we had leaflets delivered to 1700 houses over weekend and even more posters have been put up, still hoping someone spots him for us.
Mollychops
well done guys you are doing so well XX Fingers crossed this lovely boy is home soon
jody
We left food out last night in the hope that we may be able to tempt Fred to a spot- no takers but we're not giving up. Posters into Gloucester itself today and a late evening search again around all the fields. Would do anything to get my boy back :-( Really great support today from Jenny, Kathy and Helen thanks ladies. Big thanks too to my hubby and family who are keeping me going....come on Fred, time to come home.
jody
No further news to report yesterday, no sightings and still no indications of his whereabouts. Leaflets going out over the weekend to all houses in the surrounding area and we're still postering. Really really missing our little chap, our house just isn't the same without him. Last edited: 2011-10-29 11:47:10 by jody

Just wanted to say a very big thank you to both Corrine and Jenny for their efforts today in our search for Fred and of course Maya, Corrine's lovely sniffer dog. Sadly we still don't have any clear idea of where Fred is. Laid down some Sardines and Tuna this evening and stayed 'til gone 10pm just in case they lured him out, but no luck. A search party on Saturday would be great if we could get some help organising. I will come back with info on the shoot. Also Fred now has his own Facebook Group - Missing! Fred the Bichon Frise - to help with the search. Again thanks for all the support it really does keep our hope alive.

All the info you can collect on where Fred has been is helpful, well done Maya and thank you Danria.Last edited: 2011-10-27 19:45:57 by Owl
DogLostJenners - Area Volunteer, Gloucestershire
No luck today, it is a large area of farm land, but having just looked an arial view on google there is small river surrounding the land so Fred wouldn't be able to run too far unless he made his way back to the main road. We need to get a search party together to cover the area in one go. Jody is checking with the farmer to see if a shoot is happening this weekend, if so maybe we can go on the land afterwards. Are there any willing volunteers able to help Saturday ?
danria
Got back half an hour ago. Sorry to say no sighting of Fred, Maya managed to pick up an area he has been in, just hoping for some news. Wish we could have done more.
DogLostOwl
Good luck for today everyone, glad you will have helper Danria and her clever dog Maya with you.
Mollychops
Sorry the emails didnt get your area , Jenny. Thanks for helping X Also Cathy and Helen. Great work going on here. Come on Fred show yourself!
jody
A late post tonight - been very busy! Full search of the barns and farmyard where we last saw Fred today and checked all decking/garden areas of surrounding areas. Lots more still to check but have flyers being delivered to all houses in 5 mile radius over w'end. Thanks Sue for your time these past few days you've been brilliant & thanks to to the ladies this evening who have helped; Helen, Cathy & Jenny. Tracking with a lady from Birmingham planned for tomorrow along with further postering so keeping all fingers crossed for an all important sighting,as always any help appreciated. Thanks Jody.
DogLostJenners - Area Volunteer, Gloucestershire
I am in GL4 and haven't been notified, GL2 is right next to me. I can help with the search and will spread the word see if we can get more people along to help.
Mollychops
Owner has rung to tonight to say Its tomorrow , Thursday there will be some media coverage . She has been searching tirelessly for her boy ever since he went missing . Sadly nothing. She is going door to door , not an easy task as there are 400 houses locally, for people to check under decking, sheds, and anywahere Fred could have hidden himself away .
Mollychops
Thanks for posting Jody, I will bump his page tomorrow due to media coverage. Im sure he will be holed up somewhere close to where he went missing from, as he will be so scared, and as there have been no sightings . You are doing a wonderful job, as you said earlierwhen I caught upwith you, everyone you meet in the area, is aware he is missing . well done X
jody
Still no sign of Fred today :-( Have widened the search area and now have posters out in Highnam and all surrounding areas. Adverts going in papers tomorrow and we have a flyer drop planned for the weekend, just really need a sighting so we can narrow down our search area. If anyone is in the area and could help search we'd really appreciate it.
Mollychops
This lovely boy has gone missing from owners parents at Highnam. He does not know the area, and will be very scared. There have been no sightings so far, but owners have been out searching and checking all farms and everywhere they can think of locally. There have been lots of posters put up and Ive suggested contacting local papers to spread the word. He is chipped thankfully, which is a plus in his favour. Please can everyone keep an eye out. if he is spotted do not approach, jsut call owner on the number on the poster. Ive emailed out advice sheets
Mollychops
Ive left a message on both contact numbers for someone to call me back ,
