I used to have a Simba also, so his name strung a chord also! big hugs to Simba xx did he recognise you when you picked him up? Look forward to seeing a reunited photo!! :)

- What a wonderful story! It gives me such joy, especially as I know how empty your house must have felt without the bundle of energy greeting you when you came home. My Biscuit also went missing in November 2011 and I hope that I will also be able to post a happy ending on this site. I am sending beautiful Simba a big hug and wish you that your new year continues to be as happy as it started! :)

- divarayani, what a lovely update, it sure does bring a tear to your eye. I've had GSD's for over 30 years and know how loyal they are. Your Simba has got a truly loving family and is one lucky boy. Would of been great to have been a fly on the wall at your reunion. What a great future you have with him, he will stick to you like glue. Give your big cuddly teddy bear a massive big hug from everyone. xxx

- What a beautiful story....I'm now blubbing. I am so very happy for you and your family and especially for Simba. Simba's story will fuel the wonderful dedicated people who run this website...it's everything they work for. Your beautiful loving posting - where you accepted he might be on someone elses hearth, - but just wanted to know he was safe, and to tell them his favourite foods, - made my heart ache for you. Your little girls dream come true - makes all of us very happy. I pray many other aching hearts will be repaired by the return of their greatly loved dogs too. God bless.

- Hi Everyone!!! Just to say a big thank you to everyone on doglost site for your kind support since Simba went missing. Everyones kind words, advice, strength and commitment when Simba went missing, was to my family over whelming and proves your dedication towards other peoples pets, and so another BIG THANK YOU!!!
I want to add after reading Neighbark post Simba,s story, as i had given up hope and it proves Never say never, and to give hope to others who may have lost a pet for a long time.
Simba went missing 27th October 2011, and from that day a a big hole was left in our family, the nights were lonely and the house was empty, the sheer excitment from Simba when some one came home was missing, xmas was not the same, i could carry on but the fact was Simba was gone.
I put a ad in South Wales Echo week after week, put posters up, internet sites, and just spoke to people on my travels, asking if they had seen him. I had a very good response from a lot of people who saw my ads, with sightings of Similar dogs all over Cardiff which i followed up, but never found Simba. I searched nearly all parts of Cardiff day and night and started to loose hope thinking due to his soft nature someone has taken him in and fell in love and wanted to keep him, (i wouldnt have minded, but just wanted that call, so that i can tell them his favourite foods and to know he was in a good home) but this call never came. 2 weeks before xmas, my youngest daughter gave me her xmas list, on it item after item and at the end of it "and Simba to come back". That was one item i couldnt promise i would be able to deliver on xmas day, and i knew that xmas day was not going to be the same without Simba, but we never mentioned him and just let xmas go by. Then come January 2012 and i got a phone call from South Wales Echo, a staff member Sue from Fields vets in Newport had seen my ad in the Echo wanted my number as a gentleman had brought in a long haired german shepherd dog who had followed him with his own dog on the evening of 3rd/4th January 2012. When i spoke to Sue from Fields Vets, she said he was a big softy, about 18mnths, bright white teeth, i dropped everything and zoomed to Newport 18 miles away, when i got there every thing about this GSD was simba,at first he seemed confused, underweight, his fur was all matted his face was sad, but after a while he came round and realised Daddys come to get me, and i thanked the elderly gentleman for his kindness and Sue for remembering the ad, and brought Simba home, my daughters xmas wish list was finnaly complete, her hope, her wish, and dream had come true, all because because people on doglost.com and the good public have a heart, our family is now once again complete thanks to everyone one involved. I hope this message gives hope and comfort to all those people who have lost a pet and maybe giving up hope. Thanks once again NIMO and family...xxxxx
ps Simba had a roast turkey dinner for breakfast today followed by fish and rice, and 2mrw roast chicken with peas and gravy followed by ham mash and gravy, till his op on Monday and a tattoo will be carried out. - 2012-01-06 19:23 Neighbark
- Simba and Symba is obviously a very lucky name !

- Hi Beth, sorry have been away but my daughter has been searching most of Ely area, as she has been getting calls of sightings but no joy in finding Simba. I will be putting posters up over the next few days around Fairwater Green. One lady did ring yesterday saying she had found a brown collar with studs near trelai park, Ely but it wasnt Simbas, but just proves what your saying about saturating posters everywhere and thanks for this. I did get a call this afternoon from someone reading the Echo and they saw a alsation type dog around the Calor Gas place by Ely Bridge, i went there but no sighting at all, and the number she gave me verbally (029 20670492) keeps ringing with no answer, her number was withheld. Never mind at least it gives me some hope and with people like yourself more hope...

- Hi Beth, thanks for you help. I did have a call from the Cardiff dogs pound today saying, that a lady rang and said she seen Simba on Ninian Park Rd Riverside, limping and when she approached him, he ran away. Well at that time i was parked up on Ninian Pk Rd, with a poster in view on my dashboard, i left my works and searched the whole area, and the dog pound tried returning the call to the lady who wouldnt answer her phone, which was frustrating just to find out what part of Ninian park rd she lived at and that i can meet her. (i think it was a sick hoax call) The dog pound cant give me her number due to data protection and they have kept trying to call her but no answer. She must have walked passed my van saw the poster and made a hoax call...

- Hi everyone, just to say a big thank you for all concerned, it gives us so much comfort that there are people out there who share in our anguish. I have today put laminated posters around the lower end of Ely area, where im assuming Simba is. Its now been 5 nights Simba hasn, come, and over the years ive heard a lot of people telling me that their dogs have gone missing, and i did not realise what they were going through and how they were feeling, but when it happens to you personally, you really find out what its like, and trust me my whole family is going through with grief. Simba was our baby and a very big part of our lives, when i come home now i miss all the excitement and mischief he got up to, i am even prepared to say that even if somebody has taken him in and wants to keep him, just let me know that he is safe and well, (you can buy a sim card for a mobile phone for £1 these days without registering your name and add) but just let me know, and i will also tell you his fav foods. I hope it dont come to that, but if need be, i am willing to accept that. Simba was the first pet ive had since my last dog died over 20 years ago, and he meant alot to my children who are tottaly devastated, i know everyone is doing their best in this matter and thank you all for kind and supportive messages...Nimo

I've advised him to check the Pounds again tomorrow.

- 2011-10-29 21:13 BETH
- Advise owner, to maybe check with railway as there is the fairwater railway station near to Cantonian High, and aslo one in danescourt! worth checking where the dustbin rubbish collections were doen on the thursday he went missing in the area. for any poss sightings, also poster local vets [ cumines landaff north, bridges [radyr] canton vet centre, park vets] etc! Where does simba usually go for a walk? also where was he found when the police brought him home?

- Simba's owners just phoned me. He said that Simba got out through a gap in the garden, he did get out the night before but the police found him and brought him home - the next day Simba's owner made sure the gap was filled with stuff due to him going work, however Simba managed to get out again. He's contacted Dog Warden, rescues, asked neighbours, been driving around the area since Simba's been missing but still no sign of him - I did say i would send some advice out to him to see if there is anything else he could do - I also advised Simba's owner to keep his page updated with any sightings or if he puts him in another paper x
- 2011-10-29 17:14 Maggie
- I saw this dogs missing Ad on gumtree and advised the owner to put details on doglost, glad they have. I know divarayani was out late last night searching for Simba.
I have just got a text from owner advising me that they had put him on here and they have also put him on petlocator, also Cardiff Radio have been making announcements and Ad placed in the Echo for Tuesday.
Im glad you took my advice divarayani and i hope Simba is found very soon - 2011-10-29 14:07 Jayne - Founder Doglost.
