Shereen

Best of luck in finding Beautiful Patch I hope some sightings come soon.XXX

the search for patch is well and truly back on everyone please... RIP TO THE DOG WE FOUND IN THE DITCH, WE DID SHOW YOU RESPECT AND TELL YOU HOW SORRY WE WERE,and i lit a candle for you last night so you were not an unnamed forgotten dog, LETS SEE IF WE CAN FIND PATCH.... thanks to you to molly chops... not bad for two old ladies
Unknown
Poor dog, I really hope it didn't suffer xx
Mollychops
The owners of Patch and ourselves are absolutley 100% certain this is not Patch. We did a thorough check. The body was just not as large as a male collie, and all the hair we found which was a lot, was all black, including hair going up the neck, we found no white hair at all, anywere. The head was very small and pointy could even be a small lurcher. WHere we found the body , in a very remote layby, was other bits of dumped rubbish. W e feel this dog might have been left there from anywhere
The search forPatch goes on ! Huge thanks to Flagbagg last night XLast edited: 2012-04-13 20:07:19 by Mollychops
Animal Magic Chelt
Well done flaggbag - as much as we hope it's not Patch - hopefully the body can be identified and someone can at least have closure and lay them to rest now.

zen
we recovered the remains of the dog today, will update later when spoken to the owners of patch
Daliman
I hav been following Patches posts for quite awile now and I so hope that the remains of a dog that has been found is NOT patch!!! I will keep everything crossed that it is Not Patch. He is such a gorgious looking boy.
Spindle
Vast difference in size between jack russell and a collie, praying it isnt patch.
zen
i will contact dog warden in morning and see why she could not scan the dog. then will take it from there, i will also ring owners sister... i will bring dogs remains back if i can
Animal Magic Chelt
Thanks for the update MC - does she need a scanner??
-x-
Mollychops
Ive just been updated on thjis by Flaggbag, she is planning to go tomorrow and view the remains of this poor dog. My heart goes out to Patches owners XX
Jack Russell
hopefully someone could meet you who knows the exact location but if no-one can then i can meet you as i know roughly where it is. i have never used a scanner before though, is it as straightforward as it looks?
i can meet any time tomorrow or mondayLast edited: 2012-04-07 22:38:33 by Jack Russell
Animal Magic Chelt
I have a scanner if someone wants to meet to try to check the remains?
So sad that whoever this poor dog is can't be buried as they surely deserve :-(
-x-
Nicks
Thanks Jack Russell. The remains were reported on the 'Found' pages of Doglost under GL5 postcode. The Dog Warden couldn't scan it because of its location. Unfortunately it would be virtually impossible for anyone to recognise this poor dog with any certainty - one of the main reasons for me suspecting it might be Patch is that it's just a mile from where we live. There is also no collar to help identification. Impossible to take to a vet at the moment due to strong smell etc..
Jack Russell
nicks, is there any chance you could get the remains to a vet who may be able to give your more information on size of dog? (also may help someone else who has lost their dog)
Fit and Furry Dog Walking
i post about Patch on my dog walking fabook and twitter page. and I well have a look in abbymend and abbeydale for you Nicks. Amanda
Nicks
Just thought I would add that my sister has just been to look at this poor soul in the ditch and she thinks it is too small to be Patch. She's going over to Abbeydale for another look.
Nicks
Thanks Amanda, your support is very much appreciated.
Fit and Furry Dog Walking
Hi Nick so sorry to hear about Patch I haven't seen him no where yet but i well keep looking as I am allways by Laxton Road with the dogs I walk hope you find him soon

Yesterday I went to see the decomposed remains of the white 'terrier cross' in the ditch in Harescombe (just a mile away from where we live). I was hoping to rule out the possibility that it was Patch but, sadly, it could have been him. The remains were too decomposed to tell what type of dog it was, but the general shape, the few scraps of hair and a black area just visible on the skin looked as though they may have resembled Patch. The body was a bit on the small side, but then the paws were missing and the coat was mostly gone. There was no sign of Patch's collar. It was very sad to see this poor little body in the ditch. I had never imagined that Patch was dead until now and I was hoping so much that the sightings in Abbeydale were really him. I'm still clinging to a glimmer of hope but there is a real possibility that the body could be Patch. I can't thank everyone on Doglost enough for all your help over the past few months and I hope you will keep looking out for him, just in case.
Jack Russell
Nicks, have you contacted The Citizen in Gloucester? They will come out and take a pic of you stood in the area for something like this (they did for me before but they do like to have a pic as well as article). A lot of local people read the Citizen every day so worthwhile doing.
Also, forecast is lovely for the weekend. Have you thought about having a portable bbq in the area? Meat smells plus people he knows may draw him out?
Have you been to the fields behind Laxton Road? Go into Laxton Road cul de sac and there is an alleyway which leads to a few different fields. I have met lots of dog walkers there and dogs off lead too. The field goes behind the Orchard static caravan homes and then wraps back around the green to the lane behind Laxton Road. (this is the opposite side of the road to Hucclecote Meadows). No water on this side of the road but lots of hiding places.
I am concerned he will only show himself to people he knows (or a brief sighting by chance to others). could you camp out there this weekend? there is a 24hr tesco less than a mile from there so you could use their loo etc
Nicks
Jack Russell, thank you so much for all you are doing! I was there again myself today but no sign of him...I agree that the area on the other side of Laxton Road would be a likely place for him to go as people seem to let dogs off their leads there and he is very attracted to other dogs...
I didn't put posters through any doors though but that is a very good idea. Patch is used to running around in fields because of where we live so that is where I think he would most likely be found. I think busy traffic would frighten him (although going for a ride in the car was one of his favourite things!).
I really do thank you all for everything you are doing!
Jack Russell
walked around the area twice today, once in daylight and once just now. didnt see him. the only water source ive seen is on the opposite side of the road to laxton road in a field called 'hucclecote meadows' where there is a pond. i really hope he can water on laxton road side cos the main road (lobleys drive) is a busy road.
have the houses in an and around laxton road had posters put through their doors? if not i can try and do that over the weekend. all of the posters in the general area are still up
zen
please let there be another sighting of patch, come on boy you need to be home... thankyou to all who are helping to poster and search Last edited: 2012-03-23 10:18:07 by zen
Jack Russell
poster now given to mobile hairdresser who will show clients in the area. poster and internal intranet link with pic of patch going up soon at EDF factory. poster given to local dog walker.
have owners thought about pitching a tent in the area this weekend? its mild weather and lots of fields there. patch may come back to his owners. poor boy has been loose for so many months it may be difficult for anyone else to catch him. the area around laxton road isnt huge so if they stayed there this weekend patch may see/smell them?
Animal Magic Chelt
Fab work Jack Russell - well done!! I've been sharing on Glos Facebook pages to help spread the word and also on local rescue and vets pages - concerned that they are all aware as Patch isn't chipped and could end up there unknown to the owner! Are the local Dog Wardens also aware?
Nicks - fingers firmly crossed for the news you've been waiting for for so long.
Great work as always everyone :-)

So hope these sightings are Patch. Texed owner to suggest plotting and trying to set up feeding station. Good luck.

Well done crew...
Jack Russell
ive spent the afternoon in the area too. i saw your posters nicks, they were in all the places i went to as likely places so hopefully great minds think alike and he is found soon. as i had posters with me i thought just as well put more up so postered bus shelters and poo bins along lobleys drive and along the main road through coopers edge. put posters up in tesco express and turmot hoer pub in abbeymead. there was already a poster in angells pet shop. when i asked owner if i could poster up about missing dog he said 'oh is it patch?' so word is getting around. spoke to lots of dog walkers around lobleys drive, they had all seen the posters and said they would ring if they saw him. spoke to builders behind laxton road in a road called the orchards (house half built so figured they would be there for a while) they said someone had already spoken to them about patch. in the same area behind laxton road i spoke to council workers who were cutting the grass and they said they would keep an eye out for him. behind laxton road there are quite a few quiet lanes with derelict outbuildings and unfenced gardens..will try and wander around there again the next few days as its an ideal place for a nervous dog to hide. sorry, long post hoping details will help find this boyLast edited: 2012-03-22 17:05:17 by Jack Russell
Goldenfrodo
Fingers tightly crossed this gorgeous boy is safely home soon xx

Good luck.
Nicks
Many, many thanks to ALL for helping track down Patch. I have just come back from the area where I have put up more posters, (have written 'Sighted in This Area') on them. No sign of him sadly despite extensive looking in all the green, dog walking places and asking everyone i've seen. It is quite a vast built up area indispersed with green open spaces so my guess is that we are totally reliant on someone who lives locally spotting him.
Thanks everyone and fingers crossed.
Jack Russell
good idea about adding those bits to poster. ive already printed off 10 so will add sticky label with the extra info on. off to poster in about an hour. will update later
Animal Magic Chelt
Is it possible to add some bits to the posters now? "Thought to be seen running around Lobley's Drive/Laxton Road area of Abbeymead on 21/3/12" and something about being scared so approach very calmy or call number asap!? Posters say Edge so people may not keep him to the front of their minds when posters seen in Glos?
Come on Patch - show yourself again today and let's get you home :-)
-x-
zen
we have a new helper on board who knows this area very well they will be postering the area today
digbysmum
That's great news - do hope it is Patch. Remember Eva the border collie was reunited last year after nearly five months on the run. Come on Patch, time to come home xx
Animal Magic Chelt
Ohhhhhh come on Patch, let someone catch you and get you home safe!!!
What a shame you didn't find him Claire :-( fingers crossed this sighting will get him found now though :-)
Do Patch's owners live in Glos - is he trying to get to a familiar place now???
-x-
Mollychops

zen
bumped due to possible sighting, i so hope this is patch what a fantastic out come if patch could go home where he belongs
Animal Magic Glos
Didn't manage to find the sighted dog but have shown the above photos to the two people who saw him earlier and they confirm it is Patch. Owner's sister is aware and has also been looking in the area. Away for a few days now but please keep an eye out in Abbeymead/Abbeydale/Hucclecote areas. Claire
Animal Magic Glos
Mostly white with black collie seen running around Lobley's Drive/Laxton Road area of Abbeymead. Just heading over there as he disappeared behind gardens. Very nervous and dirty. Hoping it is Patch. Claire
Animal Magic Chelt

Many thanks to you all for your kindness and everything you are doing to help us find Patch!
We will carry on searching. Many people are aware and one lady in particular is looking out for him as she says has seen him in the fields by her house.

People who have seen this dog confirmed that it is not Patch - so disappointing!
Nicks
There has been a sighting of a 'white collie' a few days ago. It was investigated by the dog warden but the dog wasn't found. We think that this dog could be Patch.Last edited: 2011-12-02 12:31:29 by Nicks
