- My heart goes out to you. This is such an awful news. I am so very sorry. Sometimes I think God takes his special babies quickly so that they do not suffer. I also suspect precious Sam knew it was his time to go to heaven and he would have found it too hard to leave, if you were there, so he had to do it this way, but only because he loves you so much. What a courageous boy. He has certainly earnt his wings. You will be reunited once more when you have finished earning yours, until then, he is watching out for you from God's safe arms. God bless you and sweet Sam. x

THE RAINBOW BRIDGE POEM
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

- My thoughts and prayers are with Sam`s family at this tragic time. At least you have closure and have laid his body to rest, but not his soul: he is now at the bridge playing with his pals, and one day you will be reunited with your boy; he has not gone from you forever. When the time comes he will be waiting for you at the bridge. Night, night Sam sleep tight, and look down on those who loved and cared for you. Sending your family absent healing for their grief and loads of comforting hugs. RIP Sam, now in God`s care. until you meet again. God Bless+++

- Spoke with Animal Lifeline on the 13th Jan, she still had Sams details. Nothing materialised at all from the advertising in the Manchester Evening News etc. The lady from Alderley Edge animal rescue said the conversation with the Fishing tackle shop was purely to say I would probably be able to put a notice in the shop but I think it is a new owner since the conversation took place. Will persevere. Rang Staffordshire Moorlands Council who have told me dogs go to Tenford Boarding Kennels at Tean so I am in the process of contactig the.Last edited: 2012-01-18 16:26:20 by margo52

- Have organised a fair bit of advertising namely: M/Cr Evening News tonight, S. M/Cr Reporter, Stockport times East and West, Macclesfield Express and Wilmslow Express. I am hoping this will bring some results. Animal Support Volunteers in Alderley Edge was forwarding a link from a Fishing Tackle shop with an interesting conversation, the link was missing so I am waiting to read what it says.

- margo52, sorry to see Sam is still not home.
Sam could of been picked up and taken out of the area. We have had a few on DL found after a good few weeks. Midge a BC (ID 19843) was found miles away when owner went further afield getting her in the paper, finder seen the article in the paper. There was also Monty a Cairn Terrier (ID 14505) that was picked up by finder and taken home it was not until they returned to the area a MONTH later they seen a poster. They did look after him and he was MICROCHIPPED but had not been scanned. Once they seen a poster they did contact his family and he was reunited.
Keep your chin up margo52 we are all routing for Sam to be reunited. xxx - 2012-01-08 12:02 margo52

High Peak council have holding kennels where the dogs stay for 3 days before going to Manchester Dogs Home. I know this as the last missing dogs i was helping with were all from High Peak. Hope that helps... - 2011-12-14 22:12 margo52
- I have left a comment for Baz's owner, I will help if they need me. I rang around all the councils within a 20 mile radius, also rang dogs homes. High Peak are the only council who would not give me the information of the local dogs home so I could call them, does anybody know where dogs are sent from Buxton, Chapel en le Frith etc.

I have just noticed there is another Collie Cross that has gone missing from CW12, registered today, DogLost number 35312, missing since the 9th Dec..Just wondered if you maybe could help each other in some way. I will ring the owner tomorrow to find out more information..

- I am so sorry to hear that. I thought with the scenting he would of been sighted again. We have had a couple of dogs found last week at least 20 miles away. Not sure how far you have gone contacting Council Dog Wardens and vets, but both were found that way. Hope there maybe some news from the paper and great you are replacing posters. Maybe print some posters off showing there is a reward now :)
- 2011-12-11 00:04 margo52
- Absolutely nothing, I have put an ad in the paper this week offering a reward, been replenishing posters, rang around the animal wardens and dogs homes, walking around looking and talking to people.
- 2011-12-08 23:41 Unknown
- Hi' Any more sightings on Sam? :)
- 2011-12-04 23:12 margo52
- That is very nice of you Victoria76, Sam was seen last Sunday at the 'phone box on Brook Street, he came off the cycle pathway next to it, he has also been seen on Wilbraham Rd so I presume he is around the cycle path at that end. We walked along the canal on Sat. coming off at Dane in shaw, went to the telephone box (put some sardines around there) then doubled back as the pathway went under the cycle track and came out on Bromley Rd. Been again today and put new posters up but no sightings.
- 2011-12-04 20:17 Unknown
- Hi victoria76, thats really nice of you to offer help. You can print posters straight from here and hand them out to other dog walkers etc or put some up while you are on your travels if that would be ok..The owner has all the information of the last and previous sightings. She really wouldnt mind if you called her on the numbers above.. :)
- 2011-12-04 14:02 victoria76
- Hi - I live in Congleton and would like to keep a look out for Sam whilst I'm walking my dog. Would you mind letting me know where he was last seen? I assume reading the posts below, he's been seen around congleton railway/canal area?
- 2011-12-03 14:49 Unknown
- Thank you for update Margo' I do hope people call ASAP if there is another sighting, as what we dont want is people shouting him or trying to get him, as this will only frighten him and we need to keep him in the area.
You are doing a great job especially with the scenting. Really hope it is Sam. Keep doing what your doing. :) - 2011-12-03 10:51 Nina
- Not sure if you have a reward on offer but you could tell the schools that a reward is on offer which would go towards school funds
- 2011-12-03 10:46 Nina
- Margo62 what about contacting the local schools and telling them about Sam being missing...better to have the children on your side and looking for Sam rather than taking the posters down.
- 2011-12-02 21:29 margo52
- The man who saw him eating the chips is definate it was him and is sorry he didn't put him in the telephone booth while he rang us. I have been emptying a tin of sardines by the telephone box and along the track leading to the railway.I will go back tomorrow and do the same thing with another tin, then Sunday I will go back and talk to everyone passing the spot. There are loads of posters around which I keep replenishing as children seem to be pulling them down. I will ring Just Fur Now in the morning (Sat). Thank you for all your help.
- 2011-12-01 18:20 Unknown
- Hi,
There is a rescue centre that is near the old railway and the owner says strays have been found there in the past. I gave her Sams details on the 14th, its called Just Fur Now Pet Rescue 07505 118448. Give her a call, she may be able to help as she was concerned and knows lots of dog walkers etc.
Does the man with the chips say the dog fits Sams description and what time of the day was it? and are all the sighted areas heavily postered ?
Scenting is definately what you should be doing, so thats great. Try and sprinkle the hoover scents from the last sighting back to your house, as its not that far away. Sounds like he is trying to get home but then goes back to his hideout maybe..Please let it be Sam :)
- 2011-12-01 15:27 margo52
- A man told me where he came from on Sunday, he came to eat some chips that was on the floor so I am going later on to take a tin of sardines and will keep doing it at the same time. I keep going around the areas he has been seen recently but no sightings. I will be off scenting again, his sightings are all around an old railway line which comes onto the canal close to us. The sighting the other day is a continuation of our road. I am hoping it is him.
- 2011-12-01 01:33 Unknown
- Hi' Have you worked out with these sightings that a pattern is forming as per the scenting instructions ? :)

- Just spoken to Sams owner. With the police station being closed Sun and Mon there is a very good chance the person who has found the dog may take it to a vets or contact the DW, so have advised to call round all relevant places. Really hope this leads to some good news, always thinking about this boy :)

- Had another call today, lady rang to say her son thought he saw Sam but another man took him saying he would take him to the police station, this is closed on a Sun and Mon. I have been in touch with the dogs home at Eaton so if he is taken there they will contact me. We went looking for this person immediately but couldn't find him. - Hi' Thank you for the update :) So sorry there is still no news. Glad the scenting information is being used. I know you are all working so hard to find Sam. Great more posters are going out, you can never have enough. Shame there was no news from City Dogs Home. When you are on your travels hand out flyers to everyone you see and try to explain to people if there is another sighting how to approach the situation ie scenting instructions. - Thanks hippy chick for the alert re the sightings. Keeping everything crossed is is Sam. I've emailed you the Scenting Instructions to forward onto margo52. The Scenting Instructions do explain how to behave if he is seen, margo he may well run away from you, this is very normal when dogs have been missing after a few days. It is important the right approach is taken to give him time to realise it is you, once he does he will be all over you. Good luck. xxx

- Contacted AW regarding the found dog M23 but it is a Staffy.
Spoken to Sams owner about the possible second sighting and have suggested scenting as the area is not to far from the owners home. There are posters around that area aswell. Have also spoke about an early morning walk about, when its quieter.
The owner is doing a fantastic job and is phoning around on a daily basis all Rescues, Dog Warden, RSPCA's etc
City Dogs in Stoke will be visited over the next few days..Really hoping for some good news soon :) - 2011-11-17 13:29 margo52

- Hi Sarahuw' Nice to see you on here. Sorry there was no news at MDH, there is still no news at Windy either...I really think a visit to City Dogs is needed. You cant always rely on the information they give you due to the amount of strays coming in and going out. Even if Sam was microchipped, i would say the same. I have posted Sams details on RSPCA Crewe/Nantwich Facebook site and also had a a good chat with the owner of Animal Life line in Stoke who has taken all Sams details and will call me if shes hears anything at all. Mark21 suggested contacting the DW at Crewe, I know you have done Congleton. Maybe vets heading that way aswell. I would call the highways for both councils just to make sure they have been no road incidents. Also the Waterways. I have mentioned to your mum if she needs any more help to call me. All i can suggest at the moment is to carry on postering further a field. :)Last edited: 2011-11-15 17:32:49

- Hi Mark 21'
Thank you very much for all that info. I have done most of them but not really Crewe and Nantwich or Animal Lifeline..I have asked the owner to visit Manchester and Cheshire Dogs home just incase he has gone out of the area. The owners says there are different routes Sam could of taken, routes im not familiar with. If you have any more thoughts or suggestions it would be great if you could call the owner on the above number. She is really nice lady and would be grateful for any help :) - 2011-11-14 17:48 mark21

Any help you need let me know as i live in the area. - 2011-11-14 16:35 Unknown
- Found another rescue around the area called Just Fur Now Pet Rescue. The owner of the rescue was really nice and is going to spread the word, especially to the people that walk their dogs around where Sam went missing. I have told her she can get more details ie picture from here, which she is going to do. She did say she had seen him in the local paper last week and had seen a poster aswell. I have tried to contact the owners for an update, but no answer. Will try later...

- I have spoken to Wirral DW and unfortunately it isnt Sam. I found out from the owners daughter that Sam has front top teeth missing and the one found doesnt. Thank you for this information and please keep posting for any other possible matches :)

- Thanks Jan and Maggie :)
Ive spoken to the owners daughter today and advised on getting lots of posters out there and places to put them. They have been out everyday (especially around the canal area) looking for Sam. The DW has been helping them aswell. I have phoned Field Farm (Eaton) where dogs would normally go if picked and stay there for a few days before going to City Dogs in Stoke. I will call City Dogs tomorrow. I will add on AW site as he's not been registered yet an will keep in touch with the owners daughter... - 2011-11-13 11:27 Majorjet (Jan) - Area Co-ordinator - Liverpool/Merseyside, North West

- Email received in Admin:
I'm hoping you may be able to help us, our Sam went missing on Saturday night (5th November) he's a collie cross dog 13yrs old.
Last seen in congleton running towards the canal, he's fairly timid and is all black with some grey around the mouth. He should have a tatty'ish collar on with a name tag.
Any help we would be so grateful
