I'm gutted, the dog at the Dogs Trust is NOT Merlin, they know the history of this dog and it can't possible be him, it's such a shame, the search continues......

Thank you DD for alerting us to this dog, Merlin must be somewhere....

Hello, I know it is many miles away, but whilst looking at the dogstrust website I have noticed this http://www.dogstrust.org.uk/rehoming/jamie1081920.aspx . Dogs can travel a long way, maybe worth calling them to see in what circumstances the dog they advertise was found? Good luck, sorry if I give hopes that won't translate into anything, but I keep my fingers crossed!

What about contacting local schools to see if they could help, children see and hear a lot. Offer a reward for school funds

Thank you Lurcher Lover for yor advice, I have edited your post a little as it could have been read either way, the people you mentioned could either help or may think that they were being accused. Whichever way it was intended as long as the word is spread as far as possible we are gratefull. Merlin is a very easily recognisable boy with his markings so please all in the area poster, share etc.

Managed to go back today, there are posters at every entrance to the woods already. I have put up more within the wood opposite center parcs, managed to speak to a few dog walkers who had already seen posters, so people are aware. Wish there was a sighting... something to go on!! Please update asap if you do have any info/sightings. I live about half an hour away, but if I'm able to, would make the journey as quickly as possible!xx

More posters have been put up in the forest area where Merlin went missing. We also went to Thetford Golf Club to give them a poster & High Lodge Forest Centre; they are going to make copies of his poster & circulate it.
We didn't make it as far as Barton Mills service station, so there isn't a poster there & we couldn't put signs near the traffic lights as there is nothing to place them on. Possibly some signs knocked into the ground are needed for that area.
If there is anyone in the surrounding villages/towns who would be able to put up a few posters in their area (I think Mildenhall, Brandon & possibly some areas of Lakenheath have been postered) it would be an enormous help as it is a large area to cover. We do not live close enough to be able to look out for him daily. Hoping that there is some positive news soon.

Thank you muns for posting.
We have a few helpers in the area that are putting posters up in the area, Mildenhall and Brandon have posters up, the riding school/livery yard in Elveden has posters. There are a couple of people going out to that area today with posters and will be walking the forest from the point where Merlin went missing from.
The owner as you know doesn't live in the area and is doing as much she can via the internet/telephone.

I have been over to Meadowgreen today and they are aware of Merlin but unless he is picked up and taken out of the area he would not go to there (they did have a collie from Thetford but it was only beacause workmen picked him up and brought him back home with them!)

Just hoping that we get some news very soon x
muns
Shared on my F/B page and about to check on Poplar Farm Rescue Kennels because several folk from there walk dogs near to the area and may well put up some posters etc. Sadly I am not that close but could make a trip if there are any sightings to go on. I doubt he is 'long gone' Jill It is far too early to assume anything yet.....there is a banquet in those woods/forests in that area. There are many workmen about ATM getting ready for the dualling....has anyone given them leaflets? Maybe if we can find out who is the contractors we can e mail/fax/ mail a poster or leaflets for them to give out to the workmen? Also what about the forestry commission and the forest rangers or whatever they may be called.....there are men who work the forests and I guess Centre Parks may know who that is....scrub that I see it's been done! eta Now on PFK site and many will pass that area .....we need some posters on the traffic lights or near at Elveden crossroads ...notorious for queues which is why they are dualling....many folk will queue and read the posters as they wait....folk who pass every day. There is a massive service station at Barton Mills...are there any posters in there? Mildenhall and Lakenheath camps ...posters outside? Their personnel will be out and about...some in the air.....What are Centre Parks doing? Any doggy friendly employees?
Not a million miles away from Meadow Green....even though Elveden is just in Suffolk?...very close to borders.....There are also several horse establishments around there and I guess many ride through the forests...they need targeting too...Thetford itself needs posters (even though Norfolk) and Mildenhall too I would suggest. But Mildenhall personnel must be all over that area.

Keep checking in to see if there has been any sightings or news on Merlin. Would love to be out looking, but with work and young children am unable to do so yet :-( My husband goes past Elvedon everyday on his way to and from work, so has been looking out for him. If we have no news by the weekend we will take a trip to the place he went missing... is it directly opposite Centre parcs? We have never been there before. Hopefully we won't need to and he will have given himself up by then!! Thinking of Merlin.xx
jill

Weezy you are an absolute star doing all this for Merlin THANK YOU xx

There are a couple of helpers from the facebook page who have offered to poster Mildenhall and Brandon.
Weezy
Have left posters with Jollyes pet store - Thetford, Tesco fuel station - Thetford, Centre Parcs security/main gate - Elveden, Elveden Estate shops & restaurant, Brandon Country Park visitor centre, one poster at the start of a cycle route/walk (there are very few places in the forest to put up any posters, it's very rural.) The very helpful lady at Elveden village store/post office is going to put posters up in the village notice boards.

Is there anyone in the Brandon, Thetford, Mildenhall & Lakenheath areas who could help please? They are much closer than I am & would know the area better.

Security at Center Parcs said that the site has a 9ft perimeter fence all around & the only way in would be past the main gate - they would see Merlin if he went there.

I have E-mailed contact numbers for all the rescue centres in East Anglia to the owner and hopefully she will have contacted the one's in the area.

I have had a message from a lady at Elveden Estate. She is very kindly circulating Merlin's poster/details.
I am going to drive over there today, visit Centre Parcs, the Post Office & any other places I can see to put posters up. I don't know the area very well & can't do a regular search or keep an eye out as it's about 20 mins away from me.
The lady at Elveden Estate said that a similar thing happened a few years ago & a kind lorry driver picked up the lost dog & took it straight to a shelter, which meant that police & the dog warden didn't have a record of him. She asked whether all local shelters were aware of Merlin?
DogLostHelen - Regional Co-ordinator - Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridge
There are a couple of people on the Dog Lost Norfolk and Suffolk facebook group who live in the area and have offered to help poster, I have E-mailed posters and flyers to them.
SuzeeBee
I have emailed a poster to Breckland and Forest Heath dog wardens and asked them to keep their eyes open for Merlin. Is there anyone local who could put up posters as this is a very rural area.
DogLostHelen - Regional Co-ordinator - Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridge
Thank you Weezy I have just done the same.....won't hurt for them to 2!
Weezy
I have emailed/sent a link the Elveden Estate office to ask if they would mind displaying Merlin's poster.
DogLostHelen - Regional Co-ordinator - Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridge
Thanks Weezy for this information I will E-mail them a poster x
Weezy
Elveden Hall may be able to keep an eye out for Merlin too. They own much of the farm land in the area & receive visitors to the shops & restaurant.

I have spoken to the owner and Merlin ran off on the bridle way at Elveden nr. Brandon. The owner's do not live in the area and had to make the journey home to South Yorkshire without him!
They have contacted the Dog Warden in the area and I will E-mail them general information including contact numbers for vets in Suffolk. I have added Merlin's details to Dog Lost Norfolk and Suffolk facebook page.
I will E-mail Center Parcs a poster of Merlin and hopefully they will put it on display.

Are there any helpers in the area that are able to search/poster for Merlin so we can spread the word as owner's live a distance from here. Please E-mail me on c.jermy@tiscali.co.uk if you can help.
