Welcome home lovely Bonnie - stay safe now xx

Hi I'm Bonnie's mum, I couldn't post before because I wasn't registered, but now I am, and I just wanted to say what a fantastic team you all are at doglost. I never knew it existed and I certainly wasn't aware of how much help there was out there for people in my predicament. Thank you so much to all those who have helped, and a special thank you to Goldie Chris who has been skipping work (and indeed everything else in her life) to come and help me search. The support and companionship has been just as welcome as the extra pair of eyes and feet, and helped me keep my morale and my hopes up, not to mention saying sensible things when my brain was all over the place! GC's gorgeous goldie Big Syd was also a bit of welcome light relief, and we'll be seeing more of him I hope. As for Bonnie, she is very glad to be back. At the moment just sleeping all the time. Traumatized and exhausted, she has scabs and scrapes on her tummy from, I presume, crawling a very tight space under the gate into the sports field. Her paws are swollen and I think her joints are inflamed, she is finding it difficult to walk. She's going to the vets today for a full check-over and hopefully get something to ease her discomfort. She's reluctant to go out and jumps when she hears sudden noises. But she's a resilient little girl and I think she'll make a full recovery. The company of her doggie friends is helping. She's going to be on the lead for a while, indeed she feels safer that way, and sticks close to my leg. As soon as I've finished this post I'm going to order a tracker collar for her. I found the details just there on the left of the postings, where it says "Never again". It looks like a brilliant product, and if it does what it says on the tin it should prevent the kind of nightmare that Bonnie and the rest of us have been through over the last week. Sorry this is such a long post but I just wanted to finish by saying how brilliant the local community have been. Without their help I would not have got Bonnie back when I did, she would surely have been near to collapse before anyone would have been able to get close enough to take her in. I've put a notice in Friday's T & A expressing my thanks. Oh well, posters down today and then hopefully back to normality. Thank you all.

Welcome home Bonnie, no doubt you will be spoilt rotten. Well done to everyone involved.
Goldie Chris
Well, it's a long story, but the important sighting this morning was in Heaton Village near the post office. We shot up there from the sports field, half the village was out with treats, dog leads, mobile phones, Heaven only knows what else! They were tracking her and trying to tempt her but not chasing her so she seemed quite calm. I came round the corner into one of the back streets and she was standing looking at me. I threw some smelly sausage on the ground towards her and turned to one side so I wasn't staring at her, she wasn't in a panic, but after a few seconds of staring at me she seemed to decide "no, you're not my mum, you're not what I'm looking for" and set off again walking. She went to the allotments, at which point there were people hanging out of windows and coming out of front doors saying "she went that way"! The first time her owner saw her all week must have been the first time Bonnie has seen her mum, she wagged her tail and came towards her and the rest is history...
Welcome home Bonnie, come and play with Big Syd any time you want (we took one of my boys, Sydney, to the sports field yesterday to play ball and see if we could tempt her out to play, as soon as we put him away I saw her but she went again, she must have seen him, he is very handsome!)Last edited: 2011-11-23 16:09:39 by Goldie Chris

Goldie Chris
More sightings today, including on the sports field in Scotchman Road where the groundsman and I both saw her yesterday. Looks like she is going back to the same place on a regular basis.
Goldie Chris
Thank you Susan, I've sent your number to Bonnie's owner, I am sure she'll be very grateful of any help. It's good to know she is around and there are regular and consistent sightings, paws crossed she will be home soon.
susan
Goldie Chris, I am free to help look for Bonnie in the evenings and early Thursday and Friday morning, if I can liaise with you if you're interested. my mobile is 07736454491, if you wanted to get in touch. Thank-you, hopefully she is found very soon.
Goldie Chris
Bonnie was seen in the Lillycroft area early evening, we hoped she had made the connection and headed back to the park, but a final check of the park (in the dark!) didn't find her. Paws crossed she's settled down somewhere safe for the night and will show herself in the morning.

Thanks for update Goldie Chris !BUMPED as More SIGHTInGS of Bonnie this morning including at the Sports Field in Scotchman Road. see the post made by Goldie Chris below. I know she likes to play with a ball Goldie Chris but not sure about other dogs but she is VERY food orientated so try coaxing her with smelly food and garlic sausage sounds a good choice !Last edited: 2011-11-21 12:19:58 by Jumanji - Co-ordinator.South.Yorkshire

Lots of sightings earlier this norning, I saw her too in the sports fields on scotchman road. We searched the grounds but no sign, she must have got out. Still looking but no more sightings yet
Goldie Chris
Texted owner, can help look for her this morning, hopefully she may come back to the park. Will bring garlic sausage. Does she like to play with other dogs? If so I could bring my playful pup, if not I'll just bring the sausage.

thanks Angus ! have spoken to owners again tonight and have more details of the sightings they have had of Bonnie. She was SIGHTED several times yesterday in the late morning running around Lister Park ( which is where she first ran off from on the 15th Nov). Then at 6.30 pm In Oak Lane/St Pauls Road/ST Mary's Road area. Also in the WestfieldRoad/ Scotchman Road/ Tolley Lane area near the roundabout. Then the sighting I have previously mentioned at around 10.30 pm in Tolley Lane. I must again ask people to PLEASE NOT pursue her if they see her as there was another incident yesterday of well meaning people chasing after her and terrifing her again. The best way to catch this girl will probably be with food and a very gentle approach as Bonnie is very food orientated. GOldie Chris I have told Bonnies owners of your offer to help with postering and they said a very big yes PLEASE ! Can you either give them a ring or text them your number so they can contact you please ? Can you please also keep looking out for her in the reservoir land as she has obviously found a good place to hide. many thanks xxLast edited: 2011-11-20 21:31:27 by Jumanji - Co-ordinator.South.Yorkshire

If she headed to Heaton woods she could easily have come out into Toller Lane so paws crossed the sighting is her and she's home very soon. We'll keep checking the reservoir land in case she's still on there (reservoir is an underground tank so no water danger). I can help poster if the owner wants to contact me let me know where/when?

ADMIN PLEASE CAN WE HAVE EMAIL ALERTS SENT OUT FOR BONNIE ASAP !!
Jumanji - Co-ordinator.South.Yorkshire
thanks Goldie Chris its good to know we have some eyes looking for her very near to one of the areas she ran off to. Bonnies owner has had a call this afternoon with a possible SIGHTING of her last night at around 10.30 pm in the TOLLER LANE area. Her owner has gone to this area to search and poster and any help with postering would be gratefully received ! Anyone seeing Bonnie should please not pursue her as she is a nervous dog and has already been frightened on the day she ran off by albeit kind intentioned people trying to catch her. Fingers crossed for more news of her very soon xLast edited: 2011-11-20 17:29:03 by Jumanji - Co-ordinator.South.Yorkshire

Changed postcode to area she went missing from. Can email alerts be sent out please.
Goldie Chris
I know it says "Home postcode" is BD1, but the area where she was lost is BD9, just FYI in case it makes a difference to anyone looking
Goldie Chris
Just spoken to the owner who is out looking. We live near the park, right next to the yorkshire water land, she could be in hiding over there but we haven't seen any sign of her at all. Will put some food out and keep a watch out of the side window. Paws crossed.

I got a reply back from AW site about the found below:
Hi Maggie,

The person who found this dog took it to Vets For Pets in Bury and then we heard nothing, presuming they either had the owner or it was microchipped.

Thanks

Maggie
I have sent mail to AW asking if the found one is chipped

Admin please can you send out poster alerts for Bonnie.
Jumanji - Co-ordinator.South.Yorkshire
Bonnie was in Lister park with one of her owners who has mobility problems when she ran off. Over the next few hours she was pursued by people trying to catch her and although they had good intentions it will have frightened her. She ran in Heaton Road, Oak Lane and North Park Road abd went back to the park on a couple of occasions. The last sighting of her at the moment is on the main road near the secondary school. Her owners have been continually returning to the park, have contacted Fleet kennels, the dog warden and have been postering. With no sightings it may be that someone has taken her in and not reported this to the dog warden yet which they are required to do by law or she may have been spooked by people trying to catch her and moved on to another area. Her owners are going to poster a little further afield now and hopefully this will bring news of Bonnie.Last edited: 2011-11-18 20:40:02 by Jumanji - Co-ordinator.South.Yorkshire
