  • Other Info We found this small little male dog wandering aimlessly around Temple Newsam Road. He had a collar, no tag. He was bedraggled and appeared to have been outside for several days. We found him and followed him to see if we could check his ID tag (NO ID TAG PRESENT). He slipped and fell into a stream and almost drowned. We brought him back to our home (LS15) and warmed him up. He doesn't have many teeth and appears to be old as his beard is slightly grey. He is currently in kennels via the Leeds Do

Hi guys, have posted this video on youtube which is being circulated around my neighbours via email in our local area to see if anyone recognises her from the video.

Thought it is worth a shot...

S + J Eames. Have tried ringing number on the other page too, but phone just keeps ringing out. So have left messages on the answering machine. Seems nobody is there at any time.
Unknown
S + J. Eames. Thank you for your reply. Will try phoning etc when I get the chance.
S+J.Eames
@Janiejewel

I still can't get through to the people on that other page. If anyone else has any time on their hands during the day feel free to ring them! I've posted on the wall. Not heard anything yet though. I think admin have struggled to get any info from them too.xx
Unknown
S + J Eames Still no joy then?
S+J.Eames
@ APRILLOVESDOGSX I tried ringing the family today but there was no answer =( I also noted on the comments on that page that several people have tried telephoning the number but that there has been no answer. I will try again this evening! =)
aprillovesdogsx
i thought that re the brown but after so many days out there she may have been too dirty to see any brown, poor thing. such a shame xx
S+J.Eames
@ NEIL and APRILLOVESDOGSX

The postal code is past York which is over an hours drive from where we found her in Leeds. It is a possibility. I will try telephoning them today. The only other problem is that Bonnie was grey/black - no brown. I will still give them a ring and find out though. Thanks for letting us know xx
Neil
I just looked at 33838 and it's also in the North East. No pictures but does sound like it could be a possible match. RIP little one x

Millys Mum. Hi I do understand dementia as my mother suffered from it for seven years until her death in 2004. This is why I said in previous comments that if the owner of "Bonnie" had this condition of course that would be a different matter. My mother sadly used to carry a pillow around with her convinced it was a baby she had to look after. A BIG THANK YOU TO s+j eames and Dalrimple for giving "Bonnie" all the love and care she desperately needed. There are still some kind and caring about in the world. GOD BLESS ALL THOSE W£HO CARED FOR HER.xxxxxxx.
dewilliams42
YES I TOO WOULD LIKE TO THANK S+J EAMES AND DALRIMPLE FOR RESCUING AND CARING FOR THIS DEAR LITTLE DOG. I DOUBT WE WILL EVER KNOW HOW SHE CAME TO BE WANDERING IN THIS CONDITION BUT THANK GOODNESS HER FINAL DAYS WERE MORE COMFORTABLE. THANK YOU BOTH XX
Millys Mum
Dalrimple - like the others, I would like to say how grateful I was that little 'Bonnie' was cared for so well in her final days. janiejewel1649 - the reason why I mentioned dementia is that, unbeknown to me, my eldest sister had started to develop dementia in her early 60s. When my sister was admitted to hospital, we had to make a journey over to her home. Although my sister had been a lifelong animal-lover, because of her undiagnosed dementia, the pets in her care had not received the best care. My poor sister, she would have been so upset to think that her 'pets' hadn't been properly cared for. And so this possiblity came to mind regarding Bonnie or maybe she was just dumped by heartless low-lifes. I've already said thank you to S+J.Eames but wanted to repeat my thanks as, clearly little 'Bonnie' would have died alone in the stream into which she had fallen. S+J.Eames - you are clearly very kind and caring people and I'm only sorry that the outcome couldn't have been different.Last edited: 2011-12-06 23:14:19 by Millys Mum

Dalrimple - you are lovely people and I'm so grateful that you've written about what you do. I've also made a note of your contact numbers - thank you. I can't get this little one out of my mind, however - I too hope she wasn't suffering for long. She was blessed to be with you for her last few days - I just wonder how she got in the state she was in and how many people had passed by on the other side of the road, preferring not to see her. Thank God S+J.Eames came along when they did. She knew kindness and care and comfort before her journey. Thank you.Last edited: 2011-11-27 11:49:55 by jobadger

Hi all, Thankyou so much for your comments and support over 'Bonnie' as you all can imagine it was heartbreaking not being able to save her, but here at Borneholm we thrive on doing 'right by each individual animal' to have put 'Bonnie' through any more would have been cruel, and selfish. I hope that it has only been recent that she has become ill and has not suffered for long. She was a sweet little thing, and we are glad she came to us.

Borneholm dog rescue and rehabilitation was set up to help dogs that are unfit to be rehomed due to ill health - these dogs, particularly look rough and stay in kennels far longer than they should (some never leave) because prospective new owners dont want to take on massive vets bills. The problem we have here at Borneholm is that we cant be everywhere at once! If EVER any of you come accross a dog like 'Bonnie' in council pounds and think that we can help, please contact us - Sarah, 07715208575 and Mandy - 07850837455 we are a Mother in law and daughter in law team, and we really want to make a difference.

This is so sad. Run free at the bridge, sweet little "Bonnie". You had a long life, and were cared for at the end. Thank you to s+j.eames for their kindness and concern xx
S+J.Eames
@JANIEJEWEL
It is horrible to think that she has been dumped - but you could be right. In Leeds Halton Moor is a big estate on the other side of Temple Newsam golf course. Our location is called Temple Newsam. We are off work tomorrow so going to walk over to Halton Moor estate and give the posters to corner shops and stick them by bus stops etc.

I totally agree about all dog owners being put on a data base! I originally come from Northern Ireland - I was shocked when we got our Boudicca (my wee Dobermann) that I did not need a license for her in England!! Northern Ireland law enforces that all dogs MUST be licensed! And this is checked by vets at appointments etc. Why can't the same be done here?! It would save a heck of a lot of dogs like Bonnie from ending up like this.

James came home from work today and I had to tell him about Bonnie. He is heartbroken. He found her drowning and saved her life then. He also told me that he was going to consider bringing her home to live with us after her 7 days in kennels were up!

You are all such lovely people being so caring about Bonnie. It is nice to know that people like you all exist. God bless you all xxxx

s+j.eamesa if no one in the said area remembers "Bonnie", it could be that she was driven from somewhere else and dumped there. Or stolen and dumped. I personally think that all dog owners should be put on a data base and microchipped by law. Then if a dog is abandoned in this way then the owner/s could be traced and dealt with accordingly. Millys Mum Dementia? That would be different of course. She is happy now and at playing at the bridge in the sunshine.RIP Sweetheart. You wont be forgotten by your carers or the Members on this site. God Bless you and them.xxxxxxxxxx

such a sad outcome for this poor girl despite all the kindness shown to her by her finders and the rescue. rest in peace Bonnie x
Millys Mum
dewilliams42 - from memory I don't think the one I was referring to was ever found and it must have been around a couple of years ago. It occurred to me that maybe 'Bonnies' owner was elderly/unwell or had dementia, hence the reason for the state this little girl was in.

May sweet little 'Bonnie' rest in peace..x
Neighbark
Oh I'm choked for her. So glad she was warm and comfortable before her end.
S+J.Eames
The dog warden said she was a cross breed. We found her at Temple Newsam (EAST LEEDS). We live in a community where there are a lot of elderly and older families living. We've been around our area with posters etc but going to venture to a nearby estate, Halton, to see if she has come from there. My neighbour is 90years old and has lived here his whole life - he knows everyone and every dog! But he doesn't know Bonnie. We also walk our own dog where we found Bonnie, everyday, so I've been stopping other dog owners and showing them photos - no one recognises her.
dewilliams42
MILLYS MUM-YES I REMEMBER THE COMMENT ABOUT THE BRILLO PAD BUT CANT REMEMBER WHEN IT WAS. IT WAS BECAUSE IT WAS SO OVERGROWN-IF I REMEMBER IT WAS GROOMED AND LOOKED COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. IT WAS IN THE FOUND SECTION SO NOT THIS LITTLE LASS-I WISH SHE HAD BEEN REUNITED BEFORE THE END.X
BBKM
Any chance of finding out what breed little Bonnie was x

Oh I am so sad to read that little Bonnie has gone to the bridge. Thank you to all who have given this old girl love and comfort through her last days of her life. Sweet dreams little lady, god bless you, run free at the bridge xx
Millys Mum
Such a shame that this little girl carried no ID and so couldn't be reunited with her owners but thank you s+j.eames for being so kind and caring. I have to say that she reminds me of a similar elderly dog that went missing some while ago (can't recall area) but all I can remember that a Helper, at the time, likened the little missing dog to a Brillo pad. Can anyone else remember the dog I'm referring to?
S+J.Eames
@ ADMIN - CAN YOU CHANGE THE SEX TO FEMALE, PLEASE? I cannot figure out how to edit my posting?! Thank you!xx
S+J.Eames
Just had a lovely wee chat with Sarah from Borneholm Rescue. I am so sad to hear of little Bonnie's death. When we rescued her from Temple Newsam she was matted and looked horrendous...so as you can imagine it was easy to think she was male!

I am so glad to hear from Sarah that they kept her warm and comforted her over the last few days of her life. We'll keep this post up just in case her owners ever venture on someday. Thank you Sarah and your family at Borneholm Dog Rescue! Rest in peace baby girl, we will never forget finding you xxxLast edited: 2011-11-26 13:03:59 by S+J.Eames

So very sorry to see this. At least she had the proper care and love towards the end of her life on earth. If only her owners could have been at her side when she passed. Or was she abandoned in this state? Seems so, but who knows; So pleased she has a nice resting place in the woods. Now a little Angel in Heaven and like a young puppy playing at the bridge. Night, night, sleep tight sweetheart. Dalrimple GOD BLESS you and Co for giving hner the love she needed. If this dog was abandoned then what goes around comes around.

So very sorry, Run free little one xxx I am a little confused though as this dog was listed as male ? and in the posting by Dalrimple today this dog is said to be a SHE as they named her Bonnie ????

So sorry this old boy was not reunited with his family but glad you showed him love, warmth and comfort at the end of his days. RIP sweetheart.

HOW SAD TO READ THIS. I AM SO GLAD SHE WAS WITH YOU AT THE END AND NOT OUT IN THE COLD WHERE SHE HAD NO ONE. WHAT A GOOD JOB S+J EAMES FOUND HER, SWEET DREAMS LOVELY GIRL XX

Hi all she came to rescue with us at Borneholm Dog Rescue, however when we had a vet check her, she was in renal failure and was blind, she was 18 and her teeth were all rotten, she hadnt eaten in the time we had had her and unfortunatly we were advised that she had to be PTS :o( it was a sad time at our rescue, as we try so hard to rehabilitate them no matter what the circumstances. But Bonnie as we called her was just not well enough to undergo any treatment program. She has been laid to rest in the wood at the bottom of our garden :o) xxx

Hi - many thanks for letting us know what's happening with this little chap. I - and many others - check his page daily - sometimes more - and I'm so relieved he's been taken by a rescue. What a shame to think he'd been abandoned at his time of life at this time of year. I hope this is not the case and that his owners truly were unaware of his location. Good luck little man - the world is brighter from here-on in for you! xxx
S+J.Eames
Hi June, just checked but unfortunately it isn't widget. I know my photos aren't the best but when I had him with me he had no trace of brown in his coat. He was black with grey around his beard. Wish it was Widget! Happy ending would have been had.

I intend to keep this post here. We have done all we can in finding his home. We posted flyers, spoke to neighbours, went door to door and informed local shops. NO ONE KNOWS HIM. I have a horrible feeling he was abandoned - also his long toe nails and rotten teeth make me think he was. But I can only hope that this is effect of being outside for so long, which he clearly had been.

Although the 7 days are now up and he will be rehomed I still think it is important that if his owners ever do come on here they have an idea of what has happened and can contact me via my telephone number.

Also, a lady telephoned James this AM regarding this little chap. Thank you for your concern over him. It is nice to know that people care.

He is staying at Doncaster kennels where he is and will be rehomed from there. I will update you regularly when I find out information about him.

Thank you all!
Sarah and James Eames

This little dog is very like Widget http://www.doglost.co.uk/dog_blog.php?dogId=32148. I realise the sex is different but live in hope.

Oh, he is so cute, do hope he finds a lovely home with a warm hearth. It was a good thing u did s+j.eames, do hope he is re-homed quickly. Please let me know if they don't find a home and plan to pts. This musn't happen.
BBKM
You are a very good person s+j.eames. It would be lovely if his owners can be found but if not at least thanks to you he will get a new forever home. Gentle hugs to this little darling x
S+J.Eames
Oh and just to update: he is doing well in kennels! He is getting better and we're just glad we got him into a warm clean environment away from the elements. The poor kennels must be going mad with me ringing to check on him! I can't rehome him as I already have a dog and cat and cannot afford another dog. But I am trying my very hardest to find him his owners...
S+J.Eames
@ADMIN: we contacted our dog warden immediately. He is now residing in kennels in Doncaster. After tomorrow he will become legally, theirs. Then he will be rehomed. Thank you for your other comments guys =) We only have one more day before he legally belongs to the kennels. I would very much like to find his previous owners if they exist...unless he had been abandoned. But it is worth a try searching for them anyway!xx

thankyou so much for helping this poor boy and registering him on doglost.I know you have done so much already to help him but is there any possibility of you putting up some 'found' posters for him in the area you found him in ? He may belong to someone elderly who may not know what to do or where to go to find him. I so hope his owners can be found xLast edited: 2011-11-22 22:32:40 by Jumanji - Co-ordinator.South.Yorkshire
