A couple of mornings ago, when I was walking the dogs at stupid am, I had what I thought was a fox run at us along the promenade. It was pitch black and I could only make out an outline. I saw another fox this morning and it was much smaller than whatever it was that ran at us. . I did go back and call out Misties name, just in case, once i'd got control and started thinking.
I don't know that it was Mistie but she's always on my mind and it would be the prefect area for her to be hiding in. This was at the Hampton Green area of Herne Bay (CT6) near the childrens play area.

Any news out there?Last edited: 2012-07-27 23:09:17 by Kimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders

We still have people out every day looking around Whitstable and the areas where we have had possible sightings. Any extra help would, of course, be greatly appreciated. Mistie will be around 10 months old now so will obviously have changed a little. Please let us know of any dog who is sighted in the East Kent area with markings like Mistie's. Thank you to everyone who is helping in any way. x

Thank you for doing that, Jayne. Mystery solved. Lissy, I suspect owner could really do with help if you are able. Posters bring sightings and then once we know her route, we have ways of catching her. Any help for this girl, so appreciated. She's been out there far too long now. Thank you. x

Lissy you registered with us after the first alery was sent...thats why you did not receive it.

Thank you Lissy. I think when the alerts are done, the postcodes don't always show up as being close by. Thank you that. I'll ask. x
Lissy
Hi - not having a dig; I think what you all do is amazing but I am neighbouring postcode (CT4) and haven't received an alert on this sighting. Is it possible that someone who is able to could resend the link to this to local postcodes? If I hadn't happened to check the site tonight I wouldn't have known Mistie had been seen. As I say, just an idea, not at all a moan, and I hope she's home safe soon!

What is happening out there to catch this girl? Is anyone sitting and watching at these sightings, early morning, evening etc. Has the triangle been plotted? She's going around Sainsburys a lot. Maybe you need to leave food out there daily, at the same time in a safe place, so that she returns daily once she knows its there. Is anything being done about this? Are there any helpers out that way? Is owner on her own? Wish we knew what was going on as she really needs to be caught, poor thing. We can help owner and guide her if we know more. Thanks. x

Possible sighting this morning (Monday 30.4.12) at Greenhill roundabout, running along the pavement in the direction of Sainsburys, Whitstable.

Also, remember Mistie will have grown and possibly changed slightly to the photo. We need to be pro active in finding this girl. x

Do we have any helpers out that way who can physically help owner i.e. poster, co ordinate sightings, sit and watch for Mistie. If there have been a number of sightings I don't know why people haven't called owner immediately, so I am wondering if there are enough posters out there? I can see owner has done well with flyers etc. We need them as heavy as possible so if someone sees her, they can find a poster with the number on and call there and then. We know she's out there by the look of this, so we need to work to bring her home. Check around food areas, sit at night or early morning to see if she comes out? Is she getting food from Tesco's forecourt? Catching any wildlife? Are there feathers that may not have been a fox? Is she rural? Is she urban? Both? Where is there a water supply? Where is she bedding down? What is the triangle circuit she is on? All this can be found out with a lot more posters and maybe something in the paper or ask Tesco's to put a poster in their window. Anything goes. Also remember she has gone a bit "wild" now, so may not come over - you will have to coax her, or, do not approach - definitely do not chase - just watch and see where she goes or follow at a distance. Once we know where she is or where she goes, we can leave food for her and monitor, then we have ways of catching her. Let's find poor Mistie. x

Asking for alerts. Well done. You need to really work hard and poster more and more at these sighting places. Plot the course of the sightings - do they form a triangle? Bumping due to sightings. Well done. x

I had a phone call from a lady at Whitstable Tescos this morning, to tell me that one of her customers, on seeing one of our leaflets, said that she has seen Mistie quite frequently still running loose on the streets and alleyways of Whitstable. Another customer then said that she had seen her too. Please, everyone in the Whitstable area, be vigilant and help us to get this little girl back. Thank you.

Ah hah! Looks very promising. Dogs do return to the area they went from. Collies are amazing at being elusive and surviving, so hopefully even a little lass could fend well. Try leaving some food in the spot she was seen, at a regular time, every day, but out of the way of danger and leave something that smells of you, or do the scenting a bit there. Not all over the place, so as not to confuse her, but around that area to keep her there, if safe. Bumping due to sighting. x

Possible sighting of Mistie early this morning in Harbour Street, Whitstable. Volunteers for Futures For Dogs spoke to the man who saw her, but he could give no further details. We have been in Whitstable all day today, distributing more leaflets/posters. This is very close to the spot where she went missing almost 10 weeks ago.

Bumped as at 2nd Feb for when sighting occurred. Collies are very clever at surviving in the wild, so do keep going! Keep those posters going up and keep renewing them - miracles do happen on this site! x

There have been a few possible sightings of Mistie, which we have chased up straight away, but to no avail. Some sightings refer to a dog with a red collar, but this has turned out to be a male dog running loose.
The latest possible sighting has been near Kwik Fit at the top of Borstal Hill in the Long Reach area of Whitstable on Weds/Thurs 1/2 Feb. Volunteers have been to that area and down the adjacent footpath to the woods and downs, but still no sign. If anyone is around that area, please keep a look out for her. Many thanks to everyone who is helping.
We have now set up a group on Facebook for the search for Mistie https://www.facebook.com/groups/173404706101456/

A Collie caused problems this morning on the M20 near Detling. Bearing in mind how long Mistie has been missing, she could easily have reached Detling.
