Woohoo!!!!!!!!!! I have just meet THE Oliver who has kept us all very busy for 6 days.
He was seen at Park Farm and then heading back towards Lound on the road so somebody followed him and he went straight up the driveway where he lives!
He is fine just a little dirty and very hungry....oh and he smells a bit!! I don't want to make this the oscars but I want to thank everybody who has helped get this boy home, not just the people who were out day and night but everybody who has spread the word on here and giving the owners the support they needed!

Welcome home Oliver xxx

Between 7.15 and 9am this morning I walked the whole area behind Poplars Farm across to the back of the school and the wooded area just South across from Lound Church. Sadly I didn't see anything although did chat with the herdsmen at Poplar Farm who are still keeping a look out.

Also: I saw the dead deer at Herringfleet last night - it was very light in colour and was most definitely a deer NOT a dog. It was gone this morning at 9.30am. I am going back over at 3pm this afternoon with my son if there is no good news by then.
reiki_angel
thats appalling, don't know how people live with thereselves doing things like that...absolutely disgraceful, they need to get a life...sorry rant over xLast edited: 2011-12-22 10:45:06 by reiki_angel

Owners were called last night at 2 o'clock in the morning but it turned out to be a hoax as there was nobody in the area they were told to go to and certainly no Oliver. I am so angry about this, the owners have enough to contend with without having to deal with these sort of phone calls
Julia
yes there is a white deer I have seen it near Bunkers Hill as you approach the water works - Now heading out to x
Beemac2002
Fingers crossed Oliver is found today. I am geared up to come and give a hand Saturday if not. Doglost is a great family and helped enormously when we lost our dog in Fritton Woods.
Sarah&Noodle
Sightings last night not confirmed. Possible RTC in Herringfleet so Ava going to check...think it may have been a white deer though. Dad's been out since 6am...no confirmed sightings. Last night's fb frenzy appears to be a load of nonsense. Not impressed. Thanks to all those who continue to genuinely help.x

now heading down marshes to wood if there is more evidence of something sleeping there i will ring ava so she can come and look as she should be able to tell if its her dogs hair my husband says doesnt sound like deer hair to him so hes coming with me

Hi again - I have to take my son out to work at 7am tomorrow so I am going to do an early walk. I am going to head for the area that he was seen early this morning unless anyone has better advice. Donna
bucko1017
hi just to let you know i haven't stoped looking for Oliver since the first search party went out yesterday behind the owners property and today we walked from Hopton to Fritton on all of the farmers fields/tracks,went down to ashby church, over to the scout huts down the main drag and even walked down blocker lane I have handed out flyers to anyone i have came in contact with, my mum is aware as she works in the Fritton decoy, I have friends who live in ashby dell who are keeping an eye out and have posted everyday on facebook several times, I really hope this boy is found or comes home soon, he really is pulling at my heart strings, stay strong ava and sarah there are alot of people looking for him. will check the website tomorrow and head out again sending you lots of love x
ruthann
i will go back in the morning to the place in the woods and see if there is any more evidence of him sleeping there
want2help
I don't know if you are aware but lost dogs tend to move in a triangle formation, so if you map out his sightings, if may give a clue as to where is likely to move to next. It may also indicate if he has found a safe haven somewhere to sleep? Lets hope so and stay strong x
DogLostNina
Hope the offer from Rain Air will produce results and it will help get Oliver home. Have just emailed them to say thnak you for thier generous offer.
DogLostHelen - Regional Co-ordinator - Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridge
Thank you Julia, we had a helicopter out the day before yesterday as soon as the sightings were called in ( it was already in the air) but sadly Oliver wasn't spotted. Please remember although Oliver is a nearly white coated dog he won't be by now, we are searching for a very muddy damp dog which would be hard to see in the fields!!

Kayzl he wasn't wearing a collar when he went missing.
KayzL
By the way, does Oliver have any collar on with ID tag incase anyone else may find him?
Julia
I have read through the amazing efforts of today - but it seems he is very frightened and it needs to be his owners who approach him..... don't ask don't get so I asked RAIN AIR of Beccles if they would concentrate any flights (subject to weather) across the Lound/Somerleyton area giving them the sighting spots of today, they said YES! I just thought if we could see him from above we might just locate him - Mr Rainer was very helpful he has a friend with a helicopter who weather permitting will ask if he will do a flyover as with Oliver being a large dog and nearly white coated on baron fields hes gotta stand out - so all being well they will head north to help he has my number but I will text him the owners number to ensure any sighting from about (if its flying weather) will get them to the area asap - thats a massive thank you to RAIN AIR BECCLES!!! Oliver you will be home soon x

I have been out since 8 this morning following up all the sightings we have had, it has all gone quiet now and I believe he is resting somewhere. It is amazing the amount of people who are searchin.....THANK YOU.....can I just repeat what Sarah has said earlier on, IF YOU DO SEE OLIVER PLEASE PLEASE CONTACT THE OWNER ANYTIME DAY OR NIGHT>>>>>>DO NOT TRY TO CATCH HIM as this will push us back even further. I have just left Ava who is now taking her other dog and they are walking along Green Lane.
Catherine
Just got back searched round lound, somerleyton and blundeston no sign of him. Like other lady said spoke to couple of people who know about him, so I'm sure he will get found xx
gloria
Searched Somerleyton and area around Jay Lane this morning and have just got back from searching Lound Heath and Jay Lane again as this was where he was sighted, but didn't see him. Talked to lots of people and most had heard about Oliver so he will be found. Come on Oliver, you are desperately needed home. xx

Just got back from searching around Blundeston pits, fields and woods with no sightings of Oliver. Try again tomorrow if I need to. If there are any areas in particular that need searching please let me know.

No sightings since this morning, think he's gone to ground..he was v stressed this am. Ava had requested that if anyone sights him to please call her instead of trying to get him..he's so frightened that he's running away from strangers. Dad has been out to scent the area with the rest of Oliver's pack...think he's trying to get home but can't cos of the smoke smell. Please keep looking if you can! :)

Remember stay calm if you see him, crouch down low, even lie down preferably with some food in your hand and outstretched for him to approach and if possible have a woman make whimpering/gentle crying childlike noises. Julia it is likely that he won't come to his name, your best approach would be if you see him to crouch down low with no eye contact and throw some smelly food to encourage him to you and possible back off, let him approach you.He will need to have the confidence to come to you, you could also try whimpering/crying very softly.

PLEASE DO NOT TRY TO GRAB HIM AS YOU WILL ONLY HAVE ONE CHANCE!!!!!

I hope this will help you if you do see him, and of course contact the owner's immediately
Julia
Will walk Ashby Church tracks as soon as its light and take a spare lead - can I ask is he likely to come to a stranger if they use his name? just wondering howw confident he is etc just to gauge best way to get closer if any of us do come across him :o)
Maria Postle
We have been looking for Oliver today, took our dogs to Herringfleet Hills and drove around Somerleyton and Blundeston. Will be doing the same tomorrow! I can't imagine what you must be going through, hope is home safe and well soon x
joseppea
Put some dog biscuits and tinned food out near where he must have been got in (assuming it is actually him!)
Fingers crossed it was him and that he turns up soon!
BBKM
You are doing brilliant, your posters are vital for sightings. Will it be possible for joseppea to maybe put some smelly food in their garden or where they think he came in, sardines are good..if he is in this area or travelling in a triangle like most lost dogs do, he will at some time come back this way, if he gets the food he will keep coming back. Good luck, hope your boy is home soon x

We have been following the search for Oliver since Sunday. We have friends in Flixton and Blunderston who we have made aware he is missing. Our dogs are like children to us, cant imagine what you are going through. Our thoughts are with you and Oliver. Come on Oliver...Home boy.

Just back from searching, sadly no sightings of Oliver but if it was him at Market Lane he is heading towards home and is so very close.
Thank you joseppesa for contacting us about this possible sighting, and thank you Angus for keeping this page and facebook up to date.
Come on Oliver xxx
DogLostAngus
Spoken with Helen and it ties in with another sighting reported to search team so fingers crossed that he stays in the area
joseppea
No problem good luck.

I hope you find him and that I haven't just raised your hopes up! :)
DogLostAngus
Brilliant thanks for that joesppea, have passed info to Helen the local coordinator who is out searching at the moment with owners x
joseppea
Replied to your email, had another look a little while ago but didn't see him around 'the pit' or near the woods. Don't really have any other information, he didn't stick around in the garden long enough to catch him, though he was a fairly big dog like the one above and he ran through quite quickly - must've crawled under a fence or something?

Will keep an eye out, good luck! Last edited: 2011-12-20 16:11:29 by joseppea

Hi,

A retriever ran through our garden about an hour ago in Blundeston (just off Market Lane near the pit/woods end) that looks pretty similar to the photo. Went out to look for it straightaway but couldn't see it anywhere. It might not be him, but we've never had a dog that's just off the lead come into our garden before so it might be worth having a look in Blundeston. (We did look around several fields and in the village though).

Good luck!
Shereen
Good luck!x
lesleyjane
Too far away to help but sending good vibes and hoping Oliver is home soon, there are a lot of people aware and helping it appears, well done for spreading the word so well.xx
norfolkbcs
Hi I have a rough idea and yes I do have Helen's number. There is no response from her phone at the moment but I have texted her to let her know where I am going. If you speak to her I am going to park near Somerleyton train station and head along the tracks towards Flixton - I can't see Sandy Hill on the OS map either but I suspect that is the area. Should be there by 1.45
DogLostAngus
norfolkbcs - do you have Helen's number ? just been trying to search but don't know the area and don't want to send to you the wrong place - if you don't post here and I will text it to you
norfolkbcs
Can anyone tell me where Sandy Hill is - I am now on my way out to have a look again? Donna

Thank you norfolkbcs for coming along to help, it was good to meet you.
I left flyers in Somerlyton with dog walkers and put posters on The Green at Somerlyton and also the railway station.
I have also just heard that Oliver's owner was interviewed on Radio Norfolk so hopefully the word is spreading fast.
norfolkbcs
After I left I walked from the back of Somerleyton through to Ashby Church along a track but saw nothing. Someone else went to walk through the estate via the pedestrian entrance. As promised, I will walk my dogs in the area over the holidays and keep checking here for updates.
DogLostHelen - Regional Co-ordinator - Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridge
We had a really good turn out for the search and I want to thank everybody for coming.
Posters and flyers were handed out to everybody we meet and some people went off in cars to poster further a field.
We then heard the news that there had been a sighting of a very dirty, wet dog in Somerlyton on Saturday so everybody put thier efforts into that area.
All local farmers and the gamekeeper is aware so hopefully we will get some more calls very soon

Once again thank you everybody for giving up your time to help search for Oliver xxx

Is there a co-ordinated search in progress / area's covered so far etc ? Am in Oulton not far away so can help search if needed. Does Oliver get on with other dogs ? If yes then we can bring one or two dog friendly noise-makers to help attract his attention if he is hiding somewhere ?
gloria
I have been out looking for the lovely Oliver and posted flyers in Browston, Ashby and Somerleyton. One man said he had seen a stray Retriever in Lowestoft town centre yesterday but this seems too far for Oliver to have gone but worth a mention. Stay safe Oliver and I hope you are home very soon. xx
DogLostHelen - Regional Co-ordinator - Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridge
Posters and flyers now E-mailed on to the owner's daughter.
