- THE RAINBOW BRIDGE POEM
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

- I am very sad to say that Sarge has now been pts. Xrays revealed two massive internal tumours that had wrapped around his intestines and spleen. There was no hope for him. He was shown dignity, compassion and much love in his final hours and I cannot thank Wiccaweys enough for all they have done for him. Goodnight brave boy RIP x

- Update from Wiccaweys Rescued Border Collies: "Sergeant Yule has arrived at Wiccs. The lump is enourmous. I wept when I lifted him from Anita's car. It was straight to our vets for a full examination. He is being operated on immediately, we can't wait. X-rays first as we aren't sure there isn't also a mass in his stomach. If that is clear, we will move on to take the testicles and horrid lump away. Please keep Sarge in your thoughts today, he is a very dear and very brave old boy. And now I'm sobbing again."

- I have just taken "Paddy" to Wiccaweys Rescue. Having not seen him before today I was shocked at the state he was in poor boy. The smell coming from him is that of a very bad infection and I only hope that it was not gangrene. He howled for about ten minutes and it was the saddest howl I have ever heard. After dropping him off I had to find a layby and sob my eyes out. I hope the owner gets to feel how this poor dog must feel at least once in his lifetime. Thank you Wiccaweys for helping him. I will keep you informed with the vets prognosis. Happy Christmas Paddy (new name Sargeant Yule) x

- I can assure you Mel that Wiccaweys is a well known and reliable collie rescue - I have a lovely sable collie sat next to me right now who came from them 4 years ago :o)
- 2011-12-23 16:52 Mel
- I googled Wiccaways so can now rest easy that he will be well looked after.
- 2011-12-23 16:46 Mel
- Is Wiccaways a rescue centre or is it a euphemism for something worse? If it's something worse I'd take him and get him fixed up and he can live in comfort with all our animals until it's time to say a forever goodbye. I can't understand how anyone could turf out an old ill dog, it just beggars belief!

- Have updated sex on this poor old boy. He has a big mass on his testicles which is probably a tumour so need to find owner as soon as possible or he will be pts on his seventh day :(
