I've tried contacting Milly Cumming on the tel number but it's gone to voicemail so I have left a message on that. Hopefully she will have a look at the page and see all these posts.

Milly: if you see this please would you add Reiver's microchip details as it will make it easier for us to make matches with found dogs. (It will not be seen on the page as it remains confidential to all but Admin and DL Co-ords)

Also think this one on our Doglost 'found' page should be checked by you please. Not sure if Reiver has any white on his back paws as not clear from the photo. Found very close to you in Gypsy Lane and I think only about 20 miles away!

Hi Milly. Sorry to see no sightings or news on Reiver. Will not give up looking at lurcher piccies on all dog sites .. remember that dogs turn up months and even longer after they have gone missing. Never ever give up .. miracles do happen especially when you have been sensible enough to microchip your dog. Will be thinking of you at Christmas and keeping my fingers crossed that one day soon you will get the news you need to find your boy.

Aww..when I saw Reiver had been 'bumped' I had hoped you'd had a sighting. Glad you have got an ad in tho .. good not to give up. It's amazing how many dogs turn up months or even years after going missing..2 in recent weeks. That microchip will get him back yet. Keeping everything crossed you hear something from the ad.

I am trying to find more details for a found lurcher in Leicestershire to see if there is any possibility it could be Reiver. www.doglost.co.uk/dog_blog?php?dogIId=39278. If owners could ring admin again in a few days when Jayne is back in case she has more info

thank you Debbie. this dog looks as if it might have had its hair cut at some point, so i've contacted them to see if they can check a few other details. it doesn't look 100% like Reiver, but he's been gone for 5 months now and is growing into a 2 year old, so could have changed. thank you so much for posting that link, i'll keep an eye on it and let you know the outcome. thanks again

Thank you Clarkey!! You're wonderful. I have just re-tweeted too - not giving up yet!! This is not known fact, but one psychic we consulted said that he would return home in May. On this, the first of May, can I put out a renewed plea to carry on keeping an eye out for our Reiver. If you spot any shabby posters, please pop up a new one. If anyone needs new posters, please don't hesitate to let me know and I will send them out. Anywhere in the Wiltshire area - PROJECT BRING REIVER HOME THIS MAY!! Thank you to everyone. Milly, owner

Did anything come of your chat with the GLO and if so are there any areas you would like help with postering in? We are walking near Devizes today and will poster around there.

The landrover has been traced, and the family that own it do indeedhave a lurcher very similar to Reiver, but have had him for a much longer time, 2 years or so. Great work everyone with the postering. Wendy yes please do, x It was lovely to catch up with Reivers owner earlier.

I replaced posters on Roundway and Redhorn Hill (blown away I think) - should I put more posters around Devizes and downs?

police have managed to track down this vehicle, and one of the policemen was going to go and question the owner. haven't had an update as to how this went yet, but will let you all know as soon as possible. thank you for putting up posters in the local area, hopefully he'll become well known there as well as around the salisbury area, so if he is still around, he'll be recognised. it's so tricky, but we can feel the search diminishing again, which is so easy if you have no sightings and therefore nothing to go on, so just a quick and hopefull plea from the owners to please keep this little boy fresh in your minds when you go out for your walks. it is so appreciated, and we are so grateful for everyone's help. thank you! kindest regards Milly (owner)

have begun putting posters around Market Lavington/Redhorn Hill area - mil extend this to Edington/Westbury area. Might be worth checking with travellers liason officer again (the person who took you

hi Janus, thank you so much for the link. that is a lovely dog, but not Reiver i'm afraid. thank you all! milly

Hi. With the new information re this man, his vehicle and registration etc..perhaps your local newspaper/Friday Ad and the local TV stations would be interested in running the story. Worth a try to keep Reiver in the headlines and make him 'too hot to handle'. Also hv you tried calling Lurcher search on 01598 753563 as they may be able to help.

I am the lady who saw Reiver on the bus at Warminster.have been following this closely on here hoping that he has been returned.Surely someone must know who the man who took this dog is.

sorry if I have posted this before but is always worth checking lurcher link as they have posts from dog wardens all over the country. Just so people have a clear idea what to look for here is a link to a pic of that type of landrover. http://www.carpages.co.uk/land_rover/land-rover-images/land_rover_defender_90_30_05_04.jpg RE was CK02 SKU (fairly sure of this as was stored on my phone within seconds of seeing it. Dark mud green colour. My colour vision isnt brilliant but it was a closeup look and im not often wrong when that close.
truthseekers
Best description of land rover was very shiny paintwork (may be new, or maybe just cleaned). Deep dark green defender type. Boxy back was a bit extended. Glass windows all around. Black trim. I would say with a number plate (which has been confirmed now to me by DVLA doesnt exist) is driving around this area. So if someone sees this type of vehicle or that plate it would be very useful. I woudl say report this to the police and I will make a statement if needed.
Milly Cumming
no news has come to us yet, and if this dog found has a flat coat, it's definitely not him as he is very broken coated. but, that's very interesting what you say about the boxy landrover, as the original sighting of Reiver was with a man who was manhandling him, in his 50s with very short hair. our local farmer also thinks he has seen this man in a brand new landrover defender on his land - before christmas, said the man made his skin crawl. both descriptions match up, but we never had a number plate before. does anyone know what you do if you have a number plate but no hard evidence. can we report to the police? i'm not sure, but it all seems to match up. any thoughts on what to do?? would be so amazing if it was him! thank you all. Milly
truthseekers
Hope someone rings them with the new info. This is a long shot but I thought id mention. Saw some bloke man-handle a dog into Land Rover - drove past and saw when he drove alongside me I saw him bat the dog in the face. Thought he was an idiot but as they passed saw it was a dog looking exactly like Riever. I stored the number plate in phone - CK02 SKU. Dark green boxy style landrover. Probably just someones dog being treated badly but I couldnt live with myself if I didnt mention this. This was in Market Lavington btw.

Hi Milly. Hv you had any new leads in your search for Reiver? I was hoping the dog 'found' below was your lad despite it saying smooth coat, but assume it wasn't as no new post from you. Don't give up .. he's out there somewhere and loads of people must know your are looking for him. Let's hope for some good news v soon.

I went into Tesco Blandford today and GRWE (Greyhound Rescue) were there fundraising, they also help out with Lurcher's. They are there again Saturday, if anyone can get down there to chat to the volunteers and maybe see if they would mind handing out some leaflets about Reiver. If I'd realised they were there I would have taken some today. I think it is close enough to be useful.

And perhaps ring the dog warden with this new info..and vets etc. Good luck.

sadly no luck on the run over the weekend, but i also noticed lack of posters. however, just to throw something new into the mix, we received a call on sunday saying that someone in tisbury had seen him! obviously this is a fair way from where we have been focusing, but not a million miles by any stretch of the imagination. a dog matching Reiver's description was seen being walked with a collie - does anyone live near tisbury who might be able to look around there? mum heading over that way later this week but unfortunately tied up with her unwell mother elsewhere right now. can anyone help? thank you!
DogLostBobble - Area Co-ordinator - Somerset & East Sussex
Great idea re the postering - was out in the area the other day and surprised by lack of them, so definately a job thats needed! I didn't take any with me, or would have stuck some up. Milly you seem to have the right idea, he's got to be kept at the forefront of peoples minds and refreshing and replacing posters is one great way of doing that. Well done, so glad YOU are not giving up.
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex

please don't give up on Reiver, anyone in the area between Upton Lovell and Salisbury please continue to keep your eyes peeled for him. He's likely being kept under wraps, but the moment he manages to show his face to anyone, we need him to be fresh in their minds. If anyone were heading for a walk and could put up fresh posters, that would be fantastic. Owners going for a run through the valley this weekend to see if we can spot him. thank you all! Milly

Interesting. If you google the river area, there are not actually that many individual cottages along the river other than in the village areas..maybe you could get in touch with the riding stables, rambling clubs and any dog training clubs in those areas to get the word out. Riders cover many more miles than walkers .. also any fishing clubs etc. I don't know how big the river is, but how about river boats, canoeists etc?? How about advertising in the Friday Ad ..huge coverage in lots of areas and free too! Good luck! Last edited: 2012-01-30 19:39:57 by Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex

thank you Bobble, that's fantastic. We have a very tenuoous bit of information that he might be in a river cottage somewhere between upton Lovell and Salisbury, so that could be anywhere really, but maybe Wylyle, Steeple Langford or any of the Langfords, Wishford, Chilhampton, Quidhampton, Wilton or Bemerton etc. etc. lots of places really, and i'm not a huge expert on the area. but if anyone lives around there and has access to the river, it is definitely worth us investigating this lead. the information comes from an animal communicator, so can i stress that it is not known fact, but we have to chase every lead we can. he may be with a woman who doesn't know he is missing, so may be reluctant to give him up. hopefully poster going into salisbury journal on thurs. a thousand thanks to you all! milly

Sorry to see no fresh news on Reiver. I know you will not give up and it may sound silly, but contact all the local rescue homes, vets, kennels, stables, Dog Warden again, again and again to keep Reiver fresh in their memory. Also .. have you given posters to postmen, taxi drivers, milkmen etc?? They cover a lot of ground and it may help. Keep at it.. keeping everything crossed for you. Great news about this sighting. Salisbury Dog Warden is already aware about Reiver missing. Hope he comes out tomorrow and is somewhere warm tonight.
Milly Cumming
Got a phone call at 4.30 pm today 17 Jan from a lady in Salisbury who had just seen Reiver going along the Townpath from Salisbury centre towards the Mill Pub and Restaurant in Harnham. He sniffed her and trotted on, then she saw the poster that a friend had put up in the water meadows and rang the owner who drove over aqap ( as quick as possible) and whistled but no luck. Will go back tomorrow and whistle there, also round the back of Harnham by the chalk pits. Have got in touch with the gamekeeper of the Longford estate – James Morgan – and he is going to circulate the poster amoungst all the estate workers, and tell the keeper of the next door estate too.
Mollychops
Ive hust spoken to owner. The area Reiver has been sighted in is in the Water meadow area between Salisbury and Harnham. There is a fenced walkway here and thats where a girl saw him earlier, and told the local shop where a poster was. Owners are doing brilliant , the posters are really doing their stuff !! Sadly she is having problems contacting the Salisbiury DW , who is not returning calls. Owner is going out at first light to have a look around , and with her whistle , Im soo hoping he will come out from wherever he is. Luckily owner has a friend in this exact area who is around to keep an eye out, I m going to email scenting and plotting advice now Stay safe lovely Reiver till your owners find you XX

hi all - again, thank you for everything you are doing.
as additional info, we have spoken to a communicator, who seems to think he is with a family - however, i stress that this is NOT known fact and only something to consider. We definitely want to keep up the search in the local areas, but just consider that he might be seen with a family - who probably don't know he's missing.
thank you all again, your help is so touching.

Sorry to hear the Reiver is missing, I have printed poster and will put up in vets in Durrington, Amesbury and email one to the vets in Salisbury including the emergency 24 hour vet. They have had a couple of lurchers there that they said they had bought but turned out to be stolen, I found them to be very helpful though.Last edited: 2012-01-16 18:32:27 by Mollychops
Daisy
We had our lurcher stolen in Salisbury area and she was found by the gypsy Liaison officer for Salisbury area who works at Wilton. The local Police can give you her name. I also have a rather long email of everything else we did to try and recover her. I will send it to the admin email address and would be grateful if you could forward it to the Cummings for me. Thanks.
ps I will do posters in the 'Chalke Valley'.Last edited: 2012-01-16 18:33:50 by Mollychops

Hi all, one of Reiver's family here - thank you so much for everything you are doing, we are so grateful! Latest updates:
Sunday 8 Jan 10 am – Seen near Codford Halt appearing to be heading home. Never arrived.

Wednesday 11 Jan at midday at Knook being man-handled by a man near the A36. When asked, the man said the dog was his and had run off, hence he was holding it by a collar.

Friday 13 Jan at about 9 am, a claimed sighting in the area of Kingston Deverill of a man roughly handling a dog and seeming awkward about it.

Friday 13 Jan at about 11am, a woman saw a man, similar in description to the man at Knook (see above 11 Jan), on a bus going from Warminster to Salisbury. He had a dog like Reiver. As people waited for the bus, one old lady tried to stroke the dog which was then yanked away by the man. He got off the bus at the Salisbury bus depot. He is about 5ft 10 ins with v short fair hair with bits of grey in it, about 50+ with a large brand new army camouflage back pack.

Saturday 14 Jan, at midday a woman saw a very wet dog, looking lost but heading towards town, on the water meadows near Salisbury, specifically at the Old Mill pub and restaurant.

Im bumping up due to a possible sighting yesterday. A man was seen leading this dog possibly, off his collar a mile away from owners house towards a village called Knook. Owners have postered the area and have asked a friend there to keep an eye out. They are not getting very far with Railtrack and Ive suggested they must be firm and keep on at them . The railway by the house is a main line from Warminster to Salisbury and both stations must be alerted.

Reiver is a dog who usuually stays close. They were gone 4 hours when the mother returned. Owners have started postering locally, contacted the local hunt who have alerted all farnmers and keepers in the area. There is a railway 100 yds from house, and owners have been a distance both ways on the track. Ive suggested they contact railtrack, Ive eailed advice sheets, and a link to the poster. Ive suggested they geta a piece in the local paper. Luckily this lovely boy is chipped
