- This is so sad for all concerned. Hope it can be resolved soon.
Good to see that Jess is safe. - 2012-01-16 01:06 Neighbark
- Thank you. DOES the owner know about submitting a letter re the circumstances? It's so important to do this quickly before bonds are formed, tho' in my experience, Alsations are one owner dogs, which Is why I so want Jess to be returned to her owner.

- The seven days are there for reason which is what we always tell people when they register with DogLost. Unfortunately Jess was registered with us to late from the date she went missing to expalin this.
I have spoken to someone at MDH and the owner can submit a letter of the circumstances leading to the rehome. DogLost cannot do anything at this stage.
Thank you for your comments... - 2012-01-15 00:44 Neighbark
- Would a representative? from Doglost be able to ask the people at MDH if they would do this? A quiet request. I know rules have to be followed, but if new owners were told, and agreed, then this would be the best for Jess.

- In the name of all that's fair in this world - It would only be human for MDH to approach the new owner, - on Tracey's behalf, telling them of the circumstances and that Tracey couldn't find her dog in time, and pass on that she very much wants her dog back, if they would agree. That's NOT unreasonable to ask. If I was the new owner and knew the circumstances, then I would let Tracey have her dog back, (of course pay their costs) The 7 day rule is too short a time.
I would be absolutely heartbroken if this was me. - 2012-01-14 22:56 Karen&Louis
- This is so sad, although good that Jess is OK. However, when we got my previous dog, Quincy, from Battersea there was a disclaimer on the back that said if owners turned up within 9 months he would have to be returned to them. As he was found as a stray, we were really worried about it for a while and only really relaxed after a year. Surprised MDH don't have similar rules?

- This is a very sad story. I reiterate what hippy chick has said, make sure you VISIT the rescues / kennels to see if your dog is there in person, especially the larger establishments like Manchester Dogs Home.

- Sadly Jess has been rehomed to a new family. The owner is devastated.
It is so important to keep chip details up to date and to ALWAYS visit rescues, you CANNOT rely on a phone call... - 2012-01-13 16:40 Unknown
- I have spoken to Tracy3210 and the found dog was taken to MDH on the 29th December which must of been AW 255958. I have advised to go down tomorrow just to make sure there hasnt been a mix up and the dog is still there.
She will let me know tomorrow or will update with a comment...

- i put this on for a friend who spoke to manchester dogs home before the new year. she gave all the info except her chip details as she couldnt find them. i spoke to the home today who said a dog came in, matching that description, but chip info not up to date, so rehomed. my friend has lost her dog because her info was not used to check against the dog that was rehomed because of out of date chip info.

Have done a search on animal wardens and I think that first one is the most likely being from the same postcode and from being picked up the day after she went missing. Hope this helps :)Last edited: 2012-01-12 20:24:41 by bertiejess
