- A TV show was on BBC 2 last night about the railways, it showed Ronnie being found. I wouldn't want the family to see it but want them to know the man who found him took care of him. I was with my westie when he died, I thank god every night for that but so sorry for owners who are not.

- I am so very sorry to hear this. It is an awful trajedy to deal with. I am, however, heartened that your baby was found by a caring Network Rail man. Thank you to this kind man - wish they were all like him at Network Rail. I had a kind one too, but many do not. Please know that Ronnie did not suffer and he is now safe in God's arms. Until you met again, and you will, he will be watching over you. And, this time you will be reunited forever! With love. x

- Just logged on as another dog lost in our area and about to go out to look for him. Many thanks for the very kind comments and all the help that everyone gave. Whilst I now understand the challenges with the railways I would like to thank the man at Network Rail who brought Ronnie home which enabled us to bury him in the garden that he so loved.

- I'm so sorry you didn't make it home little boy! Sleep tight - I hope you have some lovely dreams. Naturalwhitch - please don't feel badly - he may not have been where you could have seen him - we all wish things were different in hind sight and we all wish we could do more. Everyone on DL feels the same way at one time or another - we all do our best sometimes under very difficult circumstances. Ronnie knows his family adored him and they have closure. Until the railways are completely fenced against entry, we are fighting against the odds unfortunately. xxx

- naturalwhitch please dont feel guilty I know the family wouldnt want you to,if I remember rightly Ronnie was about 3 miles away from where he went missing and it probably happened shortly after he had gone we can only try our best and its not always possible to get to all areas a dog can either...Network rail were very good on this and returned Ronnie as soon as he was found, probably in an area the public cannot access.XXXXLast edited: 2012-02-06 23:34:55 by Shereen

Rainbow Bridge
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

- Walked round woods at the back of Upper Basidon, no sign of Ronnie but did tell other dog walkers to look out for him. Also drove round for an hour. Sorry I dont know the area well so that was about all I could do
Fingers crossed though - 2012-02-02 09:12 Ronnie
- yes he is familar with Basildon Park as our house backs onto it. The house and park is closed until next Monday but we have spoken to the wardens who have allowed us to look every day but not today or tomorrow as they are shooting in the woods. Instinct says to me the most likely area is the woods around Upper Basilodon
- 2012-02-02 09:10 naturalwhitch
- just another thought, have you told the National Trust staff?....they have rangers working on the woods all the time and so would be a helpful set of eyes in the area
- 2012-02-02 09:05 naturalwhitch
- Any area that will would be best to look in? Is he familiar with basildon park?
- 2012-02-02 08:56 Ronnie
