Jason had been out postering, came back home, shouted for Rupert on impulse and he appeared! Rupert's chest was caked with mud, and it was in between his front paw toes as well, and he had a graze on his nose. He also had a lot of ticks. So it does look as if he dug himself out of somewhere, probably a sett. Some of the setts around there have trickles of water around, so it looks as if he found a bit to drink as he wasn't dehydrated.

Kim, how did he get back home? Do you know what happened? I think he was down a badger hole and was maybe digging himself out. Would love to know. And, that is exactly what I said "Miracles do happen" and Rupert is a little miracle. Lots of people not posting on here have been trying to find him too and they are all over the moon! Welcome home precious Rupert. Hope Ruby is back to normal now with her little brother by her side. Well done and God Bless you all. x

I obviously had to leave work early today to rush home and see Rupert. He cried when he saw me and the children. He doesn't seem to be as traumatised as us by his adventure. The vet said he is fine and a very lucky boy. He is not even dehydrated just a bit muddy. We are so grateful to everyone for their help and support. It has been a very long week but you have all helped us through it. Special thanks to Peter at invisible fencing for taking the time out yesterday to help. We are extremely grateful.Tell others to remain positive as miracles do happen! lots of Love Kim Rupert's mum.xxx

I was outside when Kimmybear texted me the wonderful news and I may have scared quite a lot of birds! Invisible Fence, thank you and please don't be discouraged. A dog down a hole is a major challenge for a dog bred to track wildife too big to fall down holes, especially when the missing dog may have been scuttling round the area leaving criss cross trails. I have the same problem with my GSPx. It's always worth a go anyway, in case you can narrow down the search area. I'll get in touch via your facebook page as I'm thinking of setting up a forum for people using their dogs to track missing ones. It would be good if we could share experiences and info.

Yippeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rupert is home!!!!!!!!!! I will let owner update us when they have all recovered. It seems Rupert was stuck down a hole and arrived home just a few minutes ago! Heidi our Bavarian Mountain Hound and I went for a look round the area yesterday. We were pushing our luck as dog scent does not last that long so hopes were not that high.
We checked out as many places as we could but sadly no luck. I think there is a strong chance that Rupert has been abducted and only time will tell if someone has him. We were glad to help.

Thank you to everyone for their continuing support. We remain positive about the propsect of finding Rupert. Thank you Kimmybear for your latest advice wewill look into that as there are badger setts nearby. Rupert's mum. xx

Do you have badger setts around there? He may have toppled over the rim of the hill and into one of the holes. Hopefully, there will be warmth in the ground even if freezing on top. Hang in there Rupert, your family is searching for you. I don't know if it would be possible in that area, but how about a search party checking and calling at every hole, spread out across the fields and into the tree edges. Are there groups of trees within the clearing, with setts? Possible you may need to flush him out the other way with a muzzled ferret. Mind the badgers if they're snoozing for the winter. Ask the local badger groups to help check the setts. They know where they all are. x

Fingers crossed Rupert will soon be home. I've shared this on my FB page. Last dog I shared on there, one of my friends found him and returned him to his owners! Good luck everyone and I hope the tracker dog is able to find him for you. Thinking of you in the meantime. x

Hi Peter, thanks for posting. I have just spoken to Rupert's owner who has been out searching but no luck so far. I told him of your offer and he will be back soon to check this page. We at Doglost are always pleased to hear about tracker dogs, especially as both I and another tracker dog handler on this site are grounded for the time being due to injury.

Hi. Sorry to hear about Rupert. We have posted him on our Facebook page, but more importantly we have a tracking dog. She is a Bavarian Mountain Hound used for tracking wounded deer which is on a scent/blood trail.

Some info has come in which explains why Ruby was so upset. She got herself caught in a funnel trap set for magpies near a pheasant keep and completely trashed it getting herself out. She has some grazes and scratches but nothing serious and is feeling much better. We are working on the assumption that this scared Rupert, and owner will be checking all holes, ditches etc in that area in case he has fallen in somewhere he can't get out of. I don't know of a tracker dog in that area, but if anyone has one please come forward!
