- Oh this is dreadful. Poor girl and family. Lexi is safe now and no harm, can touch her ever again. She will be with you, always. I know it sounds really bad, but once it happened it would have been quick, and she would have easily gone to heaven, so please do not worry over that. I wish I could give you answers as I know nothing makes sense, but just know that she is always yours and will never really leave you. You will be together again. She has earnt her wings. x

- Oh how absolutely heartbreaking. What a terrible thing to happen. I do wish people would empty their pools in the winter, at least Lexi may have stood a better chance of getting out. I am so very sorry - my thoughts are with the family at this sad time. Run free at the bridge, dear Lexi xx

- Spangles is correct - hundreds of posters will make her too hot to handle. The other thing is, she may been driven somewhere now, so might be an idea to branch out a bit too. Put a few posters in the next towns/villages off the island. Call those dog wardens as well. Let all the vets know further out - deliver a poster yourself. You are doing really well! Any travellers near by or within a few miles? I suggest you poster around the sites. (Do not hand over money unless you actually see your dog. If you don't see her, she's not there). Re-read the e-mails I sent and check everything again if need be. Try and send her poster to all the vets by clicking on the right side of this page "Find any vet", and branch out. Someone could have found her and then sold her to make a buck, so if everyone knows she is missing and she turns up at a vet they will see she is yours. Posters and spreading the word is the way to go. You can do this! Keep checking those kennels, even if they keep saying no. Posters in all the pubs, dog training groups, and all farms, landowners and gamekeepers. I hope there is not a railway near you, but if so, you must poster at the stations and near the lines. Nikki, how exactly was she lost? What happened? This may give us a clue.

- Contact all the schools on the Island, lots of schools have email and text facilities, ask them to send a message out. If someone is keeping her you just need one person to put two and two together, just ask if anyone has noticed a new dog in the road, or if anyone has noticed one of their friends of family having recently acquired a Staffie Cross....A little Shih Tzu went missing in Rayleigh a week or so ago, posters and word of mouth got her back as someone called to say a friend of theirs had just got a dog that was very similar....Mums like nothing better than a chat at the school gate, it may only take one thing to be said, also children talk to each other, so you never know. Hope you get her back real soon and keep up the good work

- she was lost from near her home, i know someone would have seen her she is so friendly and we will keep going with the leaflets and posters! we have put them up in our local shops and surrounding areas and will go further with the posters, i hope someone does call as she is so missed and our other dogs are missing her too! we contact the kennels and have visited the rescue centers and have handed them a poster of her, i speak to the dog warden daily and he hasn't had any reports or hasn't picked her up! i just hope someone is keeping her for themselves. we have told all our family and friend who live on the Island to keep an eye out for her and to listen out for her! we will now give posters to the taxi and bus drivers too. thank you all for your help so far it means a lot x

- As Lexi isn't chipped you must phone the kennels, the rescues and the dog wardens on a daily basis and you need to go and visit yourself as sometimes people forget or they don't think your dog looks like what you are describing. You need to constantly pester kennels to make certain. Was she lost from near home or was this a strange place to her? Would she know how to get back home from where she was lost? If so, then you need to think of all the possibilities that could stop her getting home. The posters and leaflets really do work. Someone, somewhere has seen her or knows her whereabouts. Spread outwards a few miles with your posters, contact the newspapers, put ads in places, call the local readio (some do help), give to taxi drivers, bus drivers, policemen, schools, postman, milkman etc. Keep going! x
