- FANTASTIC news, over the moon to see gorgeous Gusto in the BLUE. A massive welcome home feller sending you lots of hugs and cuddles. :) x
WELL DONE Gustosdad for all your hard work and thank you to everyone who has helped in the search for Gusto. x - 2012-02-20 18:06 Gustosdad
- Gusto is now home and recovering well from his ordeal. He was found yesterday morning stuck in some woods near to where he was lost, by a passer by who was attracted by his bark. He was in good health if a little hungry. He is eating and drinking well now. I would like to thank DogLost and all its helpers and all the many other people who have helped in publicising Gusto's plight. It has truly been a wonderful example of the community lending a hand. I am so grateful to you all. Thank you - GustosDadLast edited: 2012-02-20 18:07:36 by Gustosdad

- The offers of help are simply amazing and I thank you all for helping. Gusto must be the best known lost dog in West Sussex right now. Surely he will pop his head up somewhere. Weekends are good as so many people will be taking to the fresh air. It's a beautiful day here today. "walk West Sussex for Gusto"Last edited: 2012-02-19 08:26:25 by Gustosdad

- Good luck today everybody I do hope the various search parties/walkers have success. Thanks for the new posters Jan, as you know I'm miles away (wish I wasn't it's such a lovely area) but I've send on to friends and family in Petworth.
- 2012-02-19 02:05 LornaTough
- Thanks for the posters which we will print up before walking the walk tomorrow (Sunday). We live near Tillington so will post there also and on as many Bridleway post signs as we find. We have told our friends in Lodsworth and will post one on the noticeboard at Lodsworth Larder and in the Hollist Arms.

Thanks Barney 'n' Ozzie's mum I know you are not local but sent them to you yesterday in case you could forward onto anyone who may have needed them. A group email with the posters was sent out. Have not sent you the updated ones. x - 2012-02-19 00:00 Gustosdad

- Thanks so much. Can you look at the new poster please. I have been asked to change the location of loss address - a slightly vaguer one is now in place. I understand the reasoning. Thanks again and don't get cold or wet. I hope it's a fun and productive walk

- Julian Sunday afternoon early evening I am going to park my car at my brothers house in Lugashall and have a walk up to the Northchapel-Petworth road and then back toward Lickfold Inn pub (think thats whats it's called do not know much about pubs really) might even get my brother and sister inlaw to walk with me the more eyes the better. I have mailed them about Gusto also.
I will take some posters with me and put them up wherever possible for you.
Come on Gusto give us a clue where you are.
Stay safe xxxxLast edited: 2012-02-18 19:09:53 - 2012-02-18 17:35 Unknown
- Sorry I am too far away. I have a bitch in season. Hope you find one near to you.
- 2012-02-18 17:13 Gustosdad
- Lorna thanks for that. This morning I personally put some posters up in Fittleworth, a pub between Petworth and Fittleworth and also a pub on the South side of Petworth, as well as some more north of the 272. We are now postered up as far as Plaistow and Ifold - Lurgashall etc. My daughter and son-in-law walked the proximate area of loss this morning too. Other friends I know were out near where you were. This is all good. More and more people are talking about him which is also good but I still think he is somewhwere in those hundreds/thousands of West Sussex woodland acres! I'll be over there tomorrow morning at some stage - I am encourtaging all my friends and helpers to "walk West Sussex"! Thanks again
- 2012-02-18 16:23 LornaTough
- Julian, we walked the woods on the opposite side of the A272 - there are no posters up anywhere. No sign of Gusto. If he is intact may I suggest getting hold of a bitch in season and see if you can attract him that way - we will keep walking over where he ran off until we hear otherwise. Fingers crossed he is found very soon. If you would like me to join you in your search - just shout - I can bring my girls along Last edited: 2012-02-18 16:26:33 by LornaTough

- Walking plans -
If anyone fancies a walk today then I would encourage them to walk in any of the areas from Northchapel - Lodsworth - Lickfold - Balls Cross - Kirdford - Wisborough Green etc. The area is vast - enjoy your walking and if you see Gusto let me know!! I'm continuing to poster an ever widening circle - - 2012-02-18 07:38 Barney 'n' Ozzie's mum
- Thanks for the posters Jan, but unfortunately I'm too far away to be of practical help. Will investigate local places to email them too though. Here's hpoing for a sighting today xx

- To answer latest queries. He had been to the training area twice before his visit on Wednesday. It is actually 25 minutes or so drive from our home. He could make his way back to the training area where I have left a pair of trousers! ( I've been told to go back and have a pee nearby!!). I think it is doubtful that he coukld make his way back home but I understand that stranger things have happened and I rule nothing out. Have been much encouraged by the dog warden and by Jayne who both tell me that G is having the time of his life hunting away and won't be in distress and will soon be sighted. We remain upset but optimistic. Just to know something would be a huge bonus. Thanks everyone and keep looking out.

- I have now postered Petworth and when I saw my vet this morning in Midhurst I gave him a poster of Gusto to put in their Wisborough Green Surgery as well as the Midhurst one and he very kindly said he would.
Also the local dustman know as my husband has put a poster up in their rest room.
Stay positive Julian and please do ask if you think of anything you would like done to help in the search.
Come on Gusto please show yourself darling and stay safe xxxLast edited: 2012-02-17 20:57:33 - 2012-02-17 19:56 Barney 'n' Ozzie's mum
- So sorry you haven't had any luck finding him yet. Was the place where you were doing the training well known to him and is it anywhere near home? I just wondered if he might make his way back to either place? Have you left an item of clothing with your scent on where you last saw him? Fingers crossed you get a sighting soon x
- 2012-02-17 17:45 Gustosdad
- Just back again from another fruitless search. Met horseriders very helpful. Have now postered Wisborough Green as well. All bases are covered. I think now it's up to the Little Man to show himself if he can. It really is like looking for a very small needle in a very large haystack. Truly depressing but we must live in hope. The local hunt now knows about him and are emailing their 600 or so members - I'm sure I'll go back again tomorrow some time just to "do something" - but it is so big an area. Hopefully he will knock on someone's door. Thanks again for everyone's help

- Hi All,
I've been again to the woods this morning and walked other nearby woods - two of us covered a lot of ground. There is no sign of anything - lead/collar or dog. His name was being called continually to no avail. He's not really a sqeaky toy person but in normal circs he will respond to my whistle ( 3 blasts for a "come here"). The trainer herself was out this morning too and she went South of the A272 just in case and not a sound there either. I am worried that he has been picked up by someone having got onto the lane. The issue concerning the lead is worrying but frankly I would have expected him to have got caught in it with in a few yards of leaving us when he did. I have postered Kirdford, and Balls Cross. Thanks for doing Midhurst. My local village is done too. The police know. I have spent the early hour of this morning widening the situation by emailing all my friends and contacts in the area.
Can I revert re a search party - and thanks for your continuing help. It is so much appreciated. - 2012-02-17 13:32 Unknown
- I spoke on the telephone to Gustos owner last evening I did say it was worry about his lead, he did say if Gusto got caught and if he could reach the lead he would chew through it (but that is if he can reach it)
I also know this to be a vast wooded area and Julian his owner walked for five hours yesterday looking for him in there (like he said you could walk it for a week and not cover the same area twice) and then also walked the A272 in case he gone out on to the road.
Julian if you are organising a search for Gusto I can certainly do Sunday with you either ring me you have my number or put a message on here I am home after 8/30pm this evening. I must say I am extremely worried about the lead.
I have already postered the Common here Car Park dropped posters off at both Vets and Midhurst pet shop I will be doing Petworth this evening.
Come on Gusto where are you?

- The woods are a bit of a worry as he still has his training lead attached. Are you able to organise a search party just incase the lead has caught on something? Would he respond to the sound of a squeaky toy?
- 2012-02-16 21:25 Jan S
- I have sent his details to family in Petworth . Hope Gusto will be home very soon.
- 2012-02-16 20:36 Unknown
- Ok well I have just sent the local dog wardens a poster via email
I now live in Midhurst but did live in Kirdford for a while so know a little of the area Plaistow ect
Posters already printed off for tomorrow (hoping he is home and will not need them) we need to poster everywhere possible around that area.
As I said I will do what I can to help. - 2012-02-16 20:28 Gustosdad
- Yes - local dog warden knows - my chip people know so his chip is marked as "missing". Vets I will speak with tomorrow - my local shoot syndicate know as do beaters and pickers-up. Local gamekeepers, head forester, a team of ferreters know -as do all the local farmers. Not sure if you know this area precisely but he ran off into a "million" acre woodland ( enormous ). You could walk for months in there and not cover the same ground. He may still be in there for all I know. He may have slipped onto the road between the A272 and Kirdford. If you live in the area you may know it. Leave Petworth A272 East - after about 1.5 miles take left signe Plaistow. He ran off into the woods on the left of that lane. I've covered as many bases as I can and am desperate to get my little man home. Thanks for your help.
- 2012-02-16 19:44 Unknown
- Have you let the local vets know and the dog wardens?
It is always nice to know what has been done.
I will do whatever I can to help youLast edited: 2012-02-16 19:44:47 - 2012-02-16 19:39 Gustosdad
- That's great. I will be posting posters in Kirdford area close to to where he went missing tomorrow morning. What else can I tell you about him. Very biddable - doesn't bark much ( wish he would right now!)What else would you like to know?
