There is a Dog show at Cuerden Valley Park on Sunday 29th April 10.00 - 4.00 if anyone is available to help handing out leaflets and leafleting the area x
bossyboots
Was the dog sighted with people or wandering loose? Why do the owners not set the dog trap they got, in their front garden in case she comes home at night and no one sees her?
DogLostJayne - Founder Doglost.
Tx for update mumstaxi...has owner been given scenting advise as so near to home...
mumstaxi
just spoken to megs owner apparently a man on a pushbike said he saw what he thought to be meg near the petrol station on preston road near the car wash and opposite dantes, this dog is wearing a red collar/tag, there have been 3/4 reports of this dog over the past weeks possible its meg as if someone took her in and changed the collar, amanda has been out postering and checking this area has handed out lots of posters anyone in the area please llok out for meg could do with extra help to check around this weekend, if it is meg she is literally minutes from home
Tigermouse
I've been following this from the beginning, I'm hoping and praying that this latest sighting is definitely Meg and that she is found soon.

Come on Meg, give yourself up now, your owner misses you xx
DogLostJayne - Founder Doglost.
Sighted this morning out side the Leigh Inn on Woodend road looking lost and on her own.
bossyboots
just read that there is a farmers market on at cuerden park on sunday. It may be good idea to give out flyers and ask the organisers if you could display posters on the stalls. Im working so unable to attend.
bossyboots
Drove around walton summit today then to the hob inn. Waked through the woodland opposite the hob inn and it leads up to the church. You can see the slip rd from the woods. Also there is a river alongside the path and it goes under the main road and looks accessible but I didnt go under because I was alone and wouldnt have felt safe. This area is worth postering if you think Meg is visiting the hob inn because it is a possible route.
LCJR
Cath, nice to meet you today. I've got everything crossed that the trap works and Meg is home this weekend. Re sharing on fb page too. x

cath
4 weeks today since Meg went missing. Thankyou to everyone for keeping their eyes open for meg and travelling around looking for her. We really do appreciate it. Went all around the lake and woods at Cuerdan today. Luckily didnt see anything in the lake. Going out again later.Staring with leaflets now around the area we think she may be. Please come home Meg x
mumstaxi
hiya bossyboots can you confirm on megs page your name then we know who you are and keep you in the loop etc only know you as bossyboots thanks
bossyboots
Thanks AkitaTaz. Ive been on the facebook page and offered to help with posting leaflets. I know they were saying that there is no dog trap available but I was wondering whether a large cat trap would do. We borrowed one once off claws in bamber bridge to catch a large cat and her kittens. Im thinking it may be big enough for meg. My cat is bigger than my shih tzu.Last edited: 2012-03-15 14:26:53 by bossyboots
AkitaTaz
Hi bossyboots. I think that our next plan of action is to try to find out what is eating the food that is being put out at night and leaflet the area in case someone has found her and taken her in x
bossyboots
Cath, Up until yesterday I didnt know about the facebook page so I have only followed Megs story on Doglost, so sorry I missed out on the search on Sunday. Others may not see the facebook page and I know you are extremely busy searching for Meg but if you could keep us up to date on doglost we may be able to offer help when needed.
bossyboots
been to the woods behind asda this afternoon. Checked through all the bushes, bramble and fallen tree stumps. Drove back down sandy lane brindle to riley green and back through withnell/wheelton.

Hello,
I am Ottos owner - the missing Boston Terrier lost in Hoghton Bottomos (PR50SE) since the 21st December :( still no signs. I have seen your posters around the area and i will keep my eyes peeled down here in Hoghton. Went on a walk today with my other Bostons and didnt see anything. Its good that she has been sighted, i hope shes found safe and sound x
cath
Another day of searching. Been all around the woods today behind asda left food and clothing. Have driven around for hours around bamber bridge, coupe green, walton summit, clayton brook road, houghton bridle and around asda. Will start again tomorrow. Thankyou to everyone who is keeping a look out for her.xx
bossyboots
Thanks AkitaTaz, I am going to go to these woods tomorrow and have a good look around. Im not sure if its good idea to go with my dog in case meg would be frightened but dont really like wandering in that area on my own. Cath why dont you deliver leaflets/posters to the houses/flats on The Martindales, this backs onto those woods, doesnt it?
mumstaxi

shared Meg's details on my facebook wall for you, we live in Stockport but have many friends in the North West so hopefully it might help to get the word around even more that you need helpers search those woods and bring Meg home x
Shereen
Have you tried getting a disposable Bar B Q and cooking some smelly stuff on it ,kippers, garlic chicken sausages...it may be worth finding a spot where she was seen twice fri/sat and just sitting having a cook up.sometimes if you walk and walk you could be missing her,may pay to find that spot and sit for 3-4 hrs either dawn or dusk,or similar times shes been seen.I hope shes ok and you get her back soon.XLast edited: 2012-03-12 23:44:59 by Shereen
J MO
Perhaps you could leave some old clothing with your scent on it and some food where she had been spotted. She might then stay around that area
cath
After a whole weekend of looking still no sign. Meg was seen behind the woods at Asda on fri eve and looks a in a bad way. After a full weekend of looking by volunteers and friends still no sign. By now she will be very hungry tired and possibly injured so we are desperate to find her. Started looking around the housing estates near to Asda and backing onto these woods where she was last seen. Thankyou to everyone who gave up their time to help over the weekend.x
Goldenfrodo
Bumped due to sightings.
Stay safe Meg until somebody can help you get home to your family. xx
AkitaTaz
Hi Bossy Boots if you go into Asda car park and make your way to the far right corner (as you are looking at Asda) there is a gate that leads into the woods where she was seen. I think she was last seen around 7.30pm on Friday night.
bossyboots
Cath, how do you get to these woods? Are they public woods? If I can I will try and go there for a look around on Monday. Meg must be getting tired by now but be strong for her and dont give up hope.
Unknown
Hi Cath' Im trying to get in touch with mumstaxi as per conversation from earlier, but she might try and get in touch with you anyway. I have also passed your number on to a family member of missing Tilly :)
cath
Hi had a another sighting in the woods behind Asda area. A man saw Meg twice once in the morning and again last eve.Have been there this morning nothing! He said she does'nt look well. Any help mumstaxi today would be fantastic.Last edited: 2012-03-10 08:34:34 by cath

Hi mumstaxi, great idea. There is also Tilly from PR6 still missing 36899, last sighting on the 1st March in the Heapey area. Might be an idea for someone to make contact with Tilly's owner to join forces and maybe help both dogs in some way. Contact details taken from her DL page 01257 272634 or 07755 4661707 :)
mumstaxi
have put request on fb asking for volunteers to get search going cath can you drum anyone up ? allso what time of the day were the sightings do we know ?
AkitaTaz
I have put some more posters up around the Boars Head and have spoken to the caravanners (lots with dogs) that are on the cricket ground site. They will keep a look out too. Will put more posters up in the morning xx
cath
Hi it was just near the entrance to houghton towers on the main road. Have left some food and keep looking but no luck yet.Have been at all different times of the day. Thankyou for all your help everyone.
bossyboots
Great news that there have been more sightings. We need this page bumping up now. Cath if you get another sighting or you think she may be still at this farm, perhaps the smell of some tasty food might entice her. She probably chasing mice and baby rabbits all day long, thats what my friends Jack Russells seem to be doing at minute.
AkitaTaz
Cath, where about in Hoghton? That is where I am from. A sighting is good. Dogs can adapt very well x
cath
Hi did have a sighting of meg last thursday at a farm in houghton. Have sat there over night and am in touch with the farmer but nothing! No sightings since. Have now added a reward. 3 weeks today since she went missing!
AkitaTaz
Have there been any more sightings of Meg? I was at WithyTree Vets yesterday and her poster is still up. I drove through Bamber Bridge to Clayton Le Woods and back up Sandy Lane but no sign. Not going to give up looking! xx
Unknown
Thank you for all your help AkitaTaz :)x
AkitaTaz
I have driven all round Brindle and Whittle this weekend and again down Sandy Lane this morning. Good to see posters at every opportunity! I am sure that she is out there waiting to be found. It may be worth contacting the kennels again. I will update my posters to advise there is a reward.
Unknown
I have spoken to Cath and sadly Meg is still missing. There is now a reward for the safe return of her...
cath
Hi had another person ring today to say he thinks he saw meg last thu or fri running along sandy lane. He wasn't sure which way she was going as she was zig zagin everywhere. Me and my husband have been up and down sandy lane and all round Brindle from tea time to late this evening. Have kept stopping the car and shouting her name.Even looked in a few barns. So many farms in brindle don't know where to start!
AkitaTaz
Cath have you tried LEP? I know they put an advert in for Brook the labrador when he went missing, hopefully they can do the same for you free of charge. I have also printed out some leaflets I will try to get them posted around your area. Someone may have taken her in? It may be worth ringing round the kennels and dog warden again?
AkitaTaz
Hi bossyboots, unfortunately i work until 5.30 but if you need any posters i can get some to you.
cath
Hi been around again nothing. We mostly go to curdan and have postered all around our route and the entrances. Need to put a poster up on side not far from B&Q. Am getting more posters printed and laminated tomorrow. She also walks by the canal and near quarry at brindle. The trouble is is that most weekends she goes with my dad to the caravan and walks for miles up hills and mountains so loves long walks!Any help postering would be great as some have disappeared.xLast edited: 2012-02-29 22:22:34 by cath

Ive still no printer so unable to print posters but I drove past Red Cat, through Wheelton, withnell up through Riley Green, down Sandy Lane Brindle to Clayton Brook, all round Clayton Brook and round near Lord Nelson then back down A6 to Chorley. Sorry no sightings. AkitaTaz if you need any help postering I could possibly meet you for couple of hours, thursday or friday.
AkitaTaz
No sightings this morning I'm afraid I also travelled down the motorway from Bamber Bridge to Fulwood and gladly no sightings on there either. I am hoping that it has been Meg that has been sighted since she was seen around your house x How far does Meg get walked further than Hoghton, I can try looking and postering where she is walked x
cath
Hi. We took a poster to the pub near asda the day after she went missing. Also to the royal oak, Hoghton. Also took to the garage across from the car wash and one on the post at car wash entrance. will do Lord Nelson. Had a sighting tonight of a black and white jack russel running near the roundabout on preston road where we had a sighting previously. Dashed up there straight away but after some enquiries found that someone had a black and white jack russel that had just been out at the front. I saw the dog and when i spoke to the owners they said that their dog had been up on walks near the roundabout last week, which sadly makes me wonder if the sighting last week was Meg. Have driven round again. Thanks to AkitaTaz and hippy chick for all your help today. xx Last edited: 2012-02-28 20:46:53 by cath
AkitaTaz
Have driven from Hoghton to asda again tonight but no sign will do the same early tomorrow morning. Cath have you put posters in the pubs (the one next to asda and the one between sandy lane and the main road, the lord nelson is it?) i put a poster in the garage near walton summit but forgot about the one on the main road towards chorley across from the car wash ( maybe have a word with them too, they could give out posters with every wash?). Hope she comes home soon xxLast edited: 2012-02-28 19:27:45 by AkitaTaz

I have spoken to Meg's owner and daughter and given further advice. Meg would normally go for her walks from the back of the house so have mentioned about keeping the back gate open and given advice re scenting and hours of movement etc. The area is near to motorways, so have mentioned to get into touch with the council and the highways agency. Meg should be in this weeks paper so will bump when i have confirmation the article is in.
Everyone is doing a fantastic job helping and spreading the word. :)
cath
Thankyou xx again for all your support it is so lovely to know people are looking for her. Had a phone call from the lady who lives just further down the road who said she saw a little black and white jack russel just outside our house last thursday. She seemed to be sniffing around. This gives me some hope that she is still around. Am going out to look again now. Can,t believe she could have been just outside the house.
mumstaxi
thanks AkitaTaz, come on girl time to come home x
AkitaTaz
I will be going out today to get some more posters up. The more people see the posters, the more hope there is of them contacting you when sighted. Will also have another drive down Sandy lane.
cath
Hi yes rang them last week have just tried morningside kennels again. The lady was really helpful but still no sign.
mumstaxi
cath have you tried morningside kennels? have put word out on blackburn facebook pages
cath
Been out today to glencoe kennels and Aspen valley to take them posters of Meg.Also we are driving around and around again. Just no sign anyway. Just been to the vets to ask for any advice. She seems to have been gone a long time now.
cath
Big big thankyou to everyone helping I am so grateful. Just got in Went all around brindle houghton went to higher walton hav put posters in postoffices, garages and on roads, notice boards and some paths. Came back past wheelton still no sign. Had a phone call from a man who said he had seen something black and white near the leisure centre near asda all jumped in the car but could only see a black and white cat. The sightings from before the ladies believed it was Meg. Any help putin posters up would be great. Put a poster up near the walkway behind westwood will put another up on other side. Have contacted Blackburn and darwen kennels and warden and ring glencoe every few days. Started to ring vets in blackburn now.
mumstaxi
cath can i just ask the two sightings were they confirmed as a jack russell or just a black and white dog? wondering if the staffie running round asda last night is black and white>
mumstaxi
have been out late afternoon today covered about 40 miles, went round houghton towers up and down sandy lane couple times round walton summit industrial estate clayton brook brindle spoke to several people and passed details on called into asda but adamant they wont dispay a poster (petty ) ideally would be good to get lots more posters up, went left at the mini roundabout near pines sorry dont know road, but lots of dog walkers go down the hill and on right there is a pathway with a stream ideal place to poster and right across road a pathway that is lit go behind a school? ideal for posters. dominique is in houghton going out over the weekend and will take posters. i know sundown and aspen have been contacted have glencoe been notified.stopped at michael clarkes in the brig and left details. please shout out if you need help postering, if i can get out this weekend i will to have drive round again

Cath great there have been sightings of her. Thank you to everyone who helping look out for Meg. Come on Meg we want to see you back home with your mum. xxx
AkitaTaz
Cath, I live near the tower so will keep an eye out for her. She does seem to be staying in the local area which is good. I will go down Sandy lane for a look early tomorrow morning x
cath
Had a call off a lady this morning who saw a black and white jack russel running in the middle of the road on sandy lane just near the junction near houghton towers. This was on tuesday. She will be on radio lancashire also. She will be so scared its awful.
bossyboots
Great news that there has been a sighting. Ive asked a friend who lives in whittle and works at asda to put Meg on her facebook page and mention her to as many people as possible. I will try and get my printer sorted over the weekend and help you with the postering.
cath
Had a sighting from a lady today who said she saw meg last week on preston road near thr roundabout that leads to walton summit. Will put more posters up in this area. Put meg in the chorley guardian today.
bossyboots
Also perhaps try asking evening post and Rock FM to help. When Mia a dogue from Rivington went missing the post put the dog lost photo and an article about her so its worth a try.
bossyboots
Ive also put ad on vivastreet. You doing a great job Cath and my fingers are crossed that you get the call you waiting for very soon. In Chorley Guardian today there is an article about the reason we love our pets and it says if you think your pet deserves recognition then contact the guardian and it may feature in next weeks paper. You could use this to your advantage and send the dog lost poster and additional info and ask them for help in finding meg. Free advertising would be great. Last edited: 2012-02-22 23:28:13 by bossyboots
cath
Hello thankyou for all your help with the the ads. Have been out tonight and to vets and have put 20 more posters around including the ones mentioned. Will contact the owner below.
bossyboots
I dont know if you noticed but there is a cocker spaniel, Tilly, id number 36899 on here, missing from Hill top lane area recently. Maybe you could make contact with her owners and work together to find them both and give each other support. Wish I could be more helpful.Last edited: 2012-02-22 18:15:15 by bossyboots

I have placed ads on gumtree and preloved to say meg is missing. Will try and put her on a couple of other sites. You really need to put up as many posters as possible and hand them in to places like Asda, local garages, pubs, schools, local car wash, vets in Chorley, Bamber Bridge and I believe there is now one near Sainsbury. Put posters to all the entrances of Cuerden Park. I would also put posters around Clayton Brook, near school, shops etc.
cath
Hello she went missing from home we live near the pines hotel not far from asda. We have been everywhere looking and calling her name. The no sightings is a worry. Whatever you could do to help would be much appreciated. Thankyou
bossyboots
Hi Cath, whereabouts in c-l-w did meg go missing. Is there somewhere nearby where she is often walked where she may have gone. I would love to help you if I could but my printer not working at the moment but if there is anything I could help you with, I will.I live in Pr7.
cath
No sightings no news we are feeling desperate now as time is going on. Rang council, vets, wardens visited the RSPCA and are putting her in the chorley Guardian. Been out looking for hours and hours and have put posters up. Please please help. We all miss her so much.
