- Well done to you all, and especially to Charlotte! x

- Lovely to see that she hasn't been badly injured. Whilst at the vets I hope you managed to get her chipped just in case she ever goes missing again.
- 2012-02-28 18:47 Emma
- So happy to hear she has no bad injuries. That's one lucky pup! Welcome home, Charlotte. xxx

- Hi evryone, Charlotte has finally come home!! I've just come back from the vet and apart from a small cut on her paw, was told she is in good form and just needs a lot of TLC. Lesley and Emma started today's search in the field opposite of the rugby club and here she was trotering alongside the hedge!! Charlotte was walking along the hedge for a while but desappered into the hedge as we tried to get close to her. When next time Emma spotted Charlotte, she was walking along the hedge next to A505. Again she desappeard into the hedge. I could see her for while but she went into the thickest part of it so wasn't able to locate any longer. Then Lesley and Emma went to the main road and walked hoping that Charlotte would come back to the field and here she was about 30-40m in front of me!!
I just kept calling her name and words which she could associate. Something must've clicked inside Charlotte's head and she decided to come to me. charlotte had a quick wash at the kennels, went home and was reunited with her friend and cousin.
I just want to thank evryone who put so many hours to find our Charlotte for the last 10 days, special thanks to Angus who did this page and especially Lesley and her girls. words can not express how relieved I was when finally I got Charlotte in my arms. Without this website Charlotte could've been still in the field alone and unprotected.
So, three cheers to the volunteers!!!
P.S Lesley
Could you text your home address??
I'd like get in touch with you near future.
and if you are going to search another missing dog please give me a buzz and I'll be there to help. - 2012-02-28 18:13 Unknown
- This has been a really good team effort. Well done, guys.

- One less dog to concentrate on finding in the same area as possibly Sid and Poppy are! Stay safe Charlotte and welcome home.
- 2012-02-28 15:36 Jo
- I am so very pleased that Charlotte is home, I scanned the lost section for an update and could not find her name! You are so lucky to have her home. Well done to everyone who put in so much effort to get her back. Take care of her.
- 2012-02-28 15:26 Berties Family
- so glad she has been found - did she recognise her 'mum'. Hopefully they will find someone else to 'look after' their dogs next time. there are a few around which are a tad more careful
- 2012-02-28 14:09 CBC-dog warden
- Thanks Lesley, got your message through the council. Thanks for all the time you've put in. Thanks to everyone else who has helped to get Charlotte reunited.
Julie from Appledown Rescue has given up a lot of time to help me with the trap and staff helped search the area. So thank you to Appledown too.
Welcome home Charlotte :-) - 2012-02-28 13:05 LesleyG
- Clo, just a heads up that the trap has been reset, I'll contact Kennels and ask them to drop the door down, but someone needs to pick it up :-)

- Phone number 1, owner's number, has too many digits. Please can we have the correct one?

- Hi everyone, thanks for all your advice and support. I started the search today where Charlotte was seen last night and I think I saw charlotte today but she was so far from me that it could've been a brown & white fox/hare/wild animal. I should have known this but I just went mad at it, of couse whatever that was ran away from me and disappered.
I'd be appreciated very much anyone can spare a few hours tomorrow in the field from 11.00 onwards.
- 2012-02-27 23:47 Angus
- ACTUAL Pictures of Charlotte now on site plus phone no 1 updated to owners number- I will send owners approach advice and scenting guides
- 2012-02-27 21:46 Unknown
- Claire's comment is a good suggestion. DogLost has had good support from staff at other bases over the years.

- Hi Charlotte's owners. I have put this same message both on Sid & Poppy's (2 x Black Cockers) owners pages who are missing in the same area. I hope this also helps you.
Hi,there is an RAF station nearby (RAF Stanbridge) who may be worth contacting (ask for Adjutant or Police Flt) to see if they will message around the sections and military houses for people to keep an eye out for these dogs. - 2012-02-27 18:33 LesleyG
- Just spoken to owners...if there is anyone around tomorrow at 11am we are meeting at the Rugby Club, any extra eyes would be appreciated.
- 2012-02-27 18:09 CBC-dog warden
- Charlottes owners number 07866 515938. I've spoken to them this evening and given me permission to post their contact number on here.
The owners are printing some posters off to put up in the surrounding areas and are posting them to local houses. They have also put an ad in the local paper. - 2012-02-27 16:06 CBC-dog warden
- Sorry everyone my collegue is off sick today so have been really busy covering the boroughs. I wouldn't keep moving the trap, if anyone is able to change the chicken if there that would be great. However if there is another area where she seems to be staying around then maybe a second trap can be set but the remember we need the landowner permission. This why the first one is placed where it is and it was originally where she was hanging around.
If anyone is able to can some posters be put up around the surrounding areas. - 2012-02-27 15:49 Berties Family
- Hi, think the trap should be moved if possible. What is it like walking near where she was last sighted?? Really hope owners have some updates shortly
- 2012-02-27 11:42 LesleyG
- Still no luck with the trap :-(
Owners are out looking now. - 2012-02-26 21:36 Angus

- Hallo, I'm charlotte's owner. A big thanks to everyone who's been looking for her since last sat, espesially Lesley and the girls who were with me this afternoon.
- 2012-02-26 21:05 Angus
- Bumped for the sighting - come on Charlotte - Mum & Dad are home now - please give yourself up x
- 2012-02-26 18:57 LesleyG
- Went out with the owners this evening, spent a good couple of hours with no sign of her, the owners left to go home, and then as it was getting dark there was another sighting of her (See Emmas post below).
Charlottes Owner: If you are reading this could you please text me the mobile number as the one you wrote down for me is a wrong number :-( - 2012-02-26 18:50 Emma
- Another sighting at around 6pm. She was seen by the junction of the by-pass (A505) and Billington Road. She disappeared into the bushes. Not sure where she went from there, but she's probably going to head back toward the kennels.
- 2012-02-26 13:44 Owl
- Looks like she is staying around the same area. Please make sure that owners know they must not head directly towards her but move slowly across at an angle, or sit on the ground. She won't recognise them at first, as once a dog has gone into on-the-run mode, it takes a while for them to recognise their people.
- 2012-02-26 13:14 CBC-dog warden
- Thanks LesleyG for keeping us updated.
- 2012-02-26 10:24 LesleyG
- No luck with the trap last night again :-(
Good news is she was spotted again late afternoon/early evening, so that's 3 sightings in one day :-)
The owners are back this afternoon around 1pm, so if they need any extra bodies to spot/help I'll post here :-) - 2012-02-26 08:45 Owl

- When owners arrive to search they would do well to lay a scent trail. Do those of you who are searching know how to do this? If not then either Angus or I can advise.
- 2012-02-25 14:06 Berties Family
- forgot to add - when we got to the trap there wasnt even a blanket in it - got the bedding from the kennels which was to be desired but it had the scent of the other dogs she knows on it and left very garlicy satin balls although she certainly doesnt need energy....Every time I help out and search for dogs I am amazed at peoples responses to lost dogs - and then you have dog lost helpers who are fantastic........
- 2012-02-25 13:06 Berties Family
- Emma - after I left you me and brooklyn walked the length of field calling, then I turned round and headed towards the entrance in the 'hill' field and as we turned the corner I saw a dog head up over the hill very quickly - as you said previously the dog I saw looked spanielish from behind and boy did it move, We also ran up the hill but it is so big i was way behind. The dog turned round and sped off towards the smaller field which i noticed was near roads so we headed back towards the entrance. Almost walked in dog poo (eugh finger test) lol it was warm..... pheasant carcass was in the far headgegrow. Very possibly her but very fast. Whilst heading back to the car I was spoken to by the farmer who said that it was private - I asked if we could use it and he said yes but looked at Brooklyn and said 'hope you are not coursing' did reply he was a show sog and wouldnt know what to do. Went into rugby club and spoke to manager and showed him where the sighting was in case anyone wanted to look later. Drove round to the road she was heading to and nothing. There is a house on the left with gates but I buzzed and got no answer. The smaller field is oposite the test centre for lorries I think.
- 2012-02-25 12:51 Emma
- No luck today. Angela, we might be going out to look tonight at around 6pm (just before it gets dark), as we've been told she hangs around a derelict building in one of the fields at night. We won't be doing any walking, just standing and looking, as all we're after now is another sighting so that we know she's still close by. Hopefully her owners will have some luck tomorrow, if the trap doesn't bag us a hungry Basset Hound tonight!
- 2012-02-25 11:15 Angela
- Hope you had some luck today, if not I am available to help with the search. Just let me know x
- 2012-02-25 09:26 Owl
- Good luck everyone xx
- 2012-02-25 09:19 LesleyG
- No luck with the trap overnight :-) Some of us are meeting at the Rugby Club at 10am to have a quick sweep of the area to see if we can get another sighting of her. If anyone has a spare hour we'd love to see you there as it's a big area to cover :-)
- 2012-02-24 23:53 Emma
- Yes, she has a lot of white on her. We mistook her for a Spaniel of some kind when we first saw her running across the field. Minus a few small details: her body is white, she has a dark brown/black spot across the middle of her back, and a tan face with very little white.
- 2012-02-24 22:48 CBC-dog warden
- Just to emphasise Charlotte has a lot of white. Not a dark tri as previously believed!
- 2012-02-24 22:45 CBC-dog warden
- Thank you to all the helpers who have been out helping so far. I have let the rugby club know about Charlotte today as they hadn't been informed.
The Rubgy Club is happy for anyone to use their car park but park on the first row as you go in the gate and just out of courtesy can you let them know your there.
For all those that are going out tomorrow, please can you go out just to sight her as she is very frightened and will not let you approach her. Previous attempts have made her run into the road and it has now been two times that she has nearly been hit not counting the time she was actually hit. Charlottes owners will be there Sunday, so we want her to stay in the same area as hopefully seeing and hearing a fimilar persons will make her want to come.
If anyone wishes to, can someone bring some canned fish to rub on the chicken carcass in the trap. I believe everyone is aiming to meet at 10am. The best place to look out is the hill with the derrilict building near the animal farm. Binoculars would be great but good eyes is still good enough for views of the surrounding area.Last edited: 2012-02-24 22:53:52 by CBC-dog warden - 2012-02-24 18:58 Unknown
- Don't forget some very smelly food for the trap. Good luck !
- 2012-02-24 16:35 Emma
- Her sister isn't vocal at all; she's just happy to be out and about. The older boy is a very vocal dog, however he's not very well and we've been told he can't be taken out to scout the fields. We didn't have any success today, and no more sightings. However, we moved the trap into the bushes where Charlotte seems to be going, so hopefully we'll have ourselves a hungry Basset tomorrow! We're going out tomorrow at around 10am, and will be parking at the Rugby Club instead of the kennels. We're not attempting to capture her now, just after another sighting. Her owners will be home Sunday, not sure what time. If we can make sure Charlotte stays in the area, her owners will hopefully have better luck calling her back. :-)Last edited: 2012-02-24 16:39:02 by Emma

- did you say she had a sister?you've probably done it but would charlotte respond to her rather than an unknown dog?
- 2012-02-24 13:38 LesleyG
- OK, planning to be at Tullian for 2pm, if anyone can join us we will be there for quite a while unless, fingers crossed, we manage to get her back :-)
- 2012-02-24 12:40 Emma
- There's really not much point. She seems so scared, and didn't take much notice of my JRT yesterday. :-)
- 2012-02-24 12:38 Berties Family
- Thanks Emma - shall I bring dogs?????
- 2012-02-24 12:12 Emma
- That's a good place to start Berties Family. If you go to the actual kennels, you can speak to the staff and they'll take you across the fields where Charlotte is hanging about. We might be able to get a little search team together for tomorrow. We're hoping to get out today at about 2pm.
- 2012-02-24 10:34 Berties Family
- anyone going to be out looking tomorrow morning who I cam
n meet with?
also where should I start - Tullian Park? - 2012-02-24 09:46 CBC-dog warden
- If anyone is going out to search for Charlotte today, please post it up on here and I will try and come out to at the same time.
No luck with the trap last night. - 2012-02-23 18:43 Emma
- The Dog Warden has been out with the Kennel staff tonight, a trap has been set. Fingers crossed!
- 2012-02-23 18:05 Owl
- Bless you everyone who is searching, and well done for getting a sighting xx She's going to be very hungry. Think: smelly food (garlic chicken and sardines) and having a fryup of bacon and sausages on a camping stove or disposable barbecue. No one should try to chase, she will have to be lured.
- 2012-02-23 15:16 LesleyG
- No idea about dog friendly, we had one of our JRs with us but she seems so scared she's just running :-(
- 2012-02-23 15:11 Berties Family
- Hi, if she is still loose on Saturday - i could come over in the morning to assist in searching - is she dog friendly????
- 2012-02-23 14:49 LesleyG
- I smeared a load of Webbox on and around a tree next to the pathhway she took (into the hedges). It really is pointless with only a few of us though, so many gaps into adjoining fields...and very close to 2 main roads. At one point she was heading straight for Billington Road, opposite the Rugby Club. As Emma said, she is mainly white, rather than black & tan, and although calling a series of names got her attention she didn't come towards us in response to any of them :-(
- 2012-02-23 14:44 Emma
- The kennel owners at Tullian are going to put food out tonight, as Charlotte is coming very close to the edge of the property. :-) Last edited: 2012-02-23 14:45:14 by Emma

- Might go out again tomorrow about 10-ish, but would good if there were more of us :-)
- 2012-02-23 14:20 Emma
- Charlotte has been sighted again, the same area, running through the fields. She appears to know where she's going, and is using the hedges between the fields as a runway. Myself, Lesley G and another volunteer have just spent two hours scouting the fields. Got very close, but that dog has a lot of energy! She's very thin, all ribs visible. Having been so close, we can confirm that she's white, with a tan face and a black spot in the center of her back. **She also doesn't respond to the names: Charlotte, Charlie, Lottie, Alice and is very scared.**Last edited: 2012-02-23 14:24:26 by Emma

- OK, that makes it a lot clearer, if she went from Tullian Park then that gives me a starting point. I'll give them a ring in the morning to check if she's been found, then I'll head out round about 12-ish. Thanks :-)
- 2012-02-22 22:17 CBC-dog warden
- Again thanks Lesly G. There isn't much more info to say on it. There are several fields on that side and it those she has been sighted on and she got clipped on the A505 and ran back into these same fields. The last sighting I know of is the hill with derrilict building supposedly there were travellers not so long ago - if that helps but I'm not really fimilar with this area. The best number to contact for further info to help is the second number as angus has said. Thanks again
- 2012-02-22 21:40 Angus
- Thanks LesleyG - the info that we have has come in from the CBC Warden Chloe - I will try to get some more info if there is any - the first number is the borough council which should get through to Chloe the second number is for the Pet hotel where Charlotte slipped her collar - they may also be able to help with more precise info
- 2012-02-22 18:30 LesleyG
- I've got a very friendly JR that could do that, and I can make some time tomorrow to go and scout around. Is there a more definate "last sighting"? The left hand side of Billingotn Road isn't much to go on, does anyone know exactly where she went from? :-)
- 2012-02-22 17:50 Angus
- Hi Lesley - no further news on her as yet - I feel that she may well still be in these fields as we have had no sightings - if any one has inquistive dogs such as spaniels we would really appreciate some people going out to search as she could be hiding up in undergrowth - especially if she has been clipped by a car
- 2012-02-22 15:05 LesleyG

- If she was clipped by a car she may well be lying up in whatever sheltered nook or cranny she can find in the fields she ran into. Is it possible to get as many people as possible to do a close search of that area?
- 2012-02-21 18:37 CCUK&MR
- I am not far away so i will go and look later( if she is still missing)
- 2012-02-21 16:00 CBC-dog warden

- Dog is approx 9 months old, and is tri colour. It's name is either Charlotte or Alice but believed to be Charlotte. The name is unknonw as the sister was staying With the pet sitters as well and they are identical. Dog was last sighted in fields behind billington road on the left hand side as your coming from the A505. The dog was last seen heading to a hill with derrilict building. The dog is heading towards billington park but hasn't yet reached here - not that we are aware of. Dog was lost on sat 18th feb. The dog is not microchipped and is not wearing a collar as the dog slipped out of it and this is how the dog became lost. The dog is not a large chunky basset hound and is quiet petite. She is very scared and has been bolting when being approached.
