Thanks Debs, have amended to a "d". Owner has left poster with kennels, assume its that one.

Just thought I would let you know it's ashingdon not ashington as I nearly missed this one myself. This dog has been sighted where I walk my dogs daily I usually cover about 5-6 miles so will keep an eye out. I am fostering a bitch that's just come into season so it may bring him out if he's gone to ground. Also worth contacting wood view kennels as they also walk around these fields

Well done David. Look how far you've come! Come on Archie, let's find you sweetheart. x
david
by looking at a map online it looks like he could be hiding out in the fields between hall lane and rectory road or between rectory road and lower road,so i will put posters up later at the entrance of the foot paths leading on to the fields and go over tommorrow with the kids and have a thorough search of them fields.

Yes! Have bumped Archie. David, he will probably be doing the triangle thing so he'll have a little circuit that he likes to keep to, so try leaving some food there in a safe place. Well done the person for reporting him sighted! I'm letting Jotty know. We have ways to catch him, re read that information I sent you too. Go scenting over there, but away from danger and he should stay there. Excellent news! Helpers, anyone out there? x
david
i got a call this morning saying they had seen archie at 9am this morning along lower road where it splits going towards ashingdon,i went over but could not find him i have left my number with the kennels that are where archie was seen.

Sorry I couldn't post yesterday, as I had no broadband.
The sighting of Archie in the early hours of Saturday is UNCONFIRMED, my colleague was fairly certain the dog he saw was short haired.
I'll post the details anyway, in case they help.
The time was about 3am, & the location was Hall Road, in the vicinity of the pull off, by the gated farm track that leads through to Ironwell Lane, so not too far from the Hall Road/Cherry Orchard Way Roundabout.
I do know that the local Police Dog units tend to exercise their dogs, across those fields, & opposite by Ashingdon Boys Football ground, so it may be worth making sure both areas have posters.

Have reposted on Facebook have asked everyone to share and ask all the dog walkers going to Cherry Orchard and Gusted Hall to take a note of the phone numbers with them just in case they spot Archie...Parks and Open Spaces Offices covering both are aware x

Great news. Do u know exactly which field. Was it the park side (west of the road) or the other side? I will have a look around.Last edited: 2012-03-21 21:15:58 by Jo - Area Co-ordinator, Essex

Excellent news! Remember dogs often do a triangle circuit, so try and plot where he went from, and the sightings - does it start to form a triangle? You may be able to guess the next place and poster in advance. Try posting the sighting areas really heavily and maybe see if someone can keep an eye out for you, maybe leave some food out exactly where he was seen, or very close to it but in a safe place away from roads etc. Maybe someone's garden if near enough? Keep posting where he went missing from too, as they try to get back if they can. Leave a gate open; put a blanket out that he can come home to. Anything like that. Am bumping due to sighting. x
david
hi,just had a call to say archie was seen monday afternoon on the fields down cherry orchard way,but just ran away when approached,so he could still be over there somewhere as he was seen in hall road on saturday, but he must of turned round and gone back to cherry orchard and gusted hall area as he was seen there 2 days afterhe was seen in hall road, will go searching.

I run back of Hockley woods through to Gusted Hall - Cherry orchard area will look out - do you want me to poster along route?
Gothicina
Shared on Moredge Hydrotherapy, Rochford Vets,Earls Hall Vets & Andrews Taxis FB pages.
You've got a lot of well used dog walking places in that area, St Laurence Park, Westcliff Rugby Club Fields, Jubilee Country Park, Rochford Golf Course, Gusted Hall Woods.
You also need to contact both the Rochford & the Southend Dog Wardens as this area spans the border of both. Last edited: 2012-03-20 08:18:14 by Gothicina

Ok, I presume then if he came from A127/SS9 area he may have headed down Nestuda Way or across the fields towards the airport run area/Eastwoodbury Lane which as Gothicina says is SS2 postal code. This is just round the corner from where I work so will have a look round. Owner will need to poster the places Gothicina says as well, definitely the dog walking areas car parks, as all the car show rooms down Cherry Orchard, and all the industrial units/businesses down Comet Way and Aviation Way and then into Rochford/Hockley/Hawkwell if he's got down to Hall Road. These are busy roads, but equally a lot of fields either side so hopefully he is lying low in the fields and posters will help bring the sightings.
Gothicina
I think you'll find that area is more SS2 than SS9.

One of my colleagues saw a small black dog somewhere along Hall Road Rochford, in the early hours,(about 4.30 am) of I think Saturday, he had passengers in his cab at the time & couldn't stop. There was no sign when he came back about 15 mins later. I'll check with him tonight & see if I can get a more definite time & location.
It might be worth trying the Rochford Hundred Golf Club, as that is between the airport & Hall Road, you also have the old brickworks between the Golf Course & Cherry Orchard Lane. Last edited: 2012-03-20 07:51:30 by Gothicina

David, whereabouts along the A127 did Archie go missing David? This is not far from me at all. Also, what were the circumstances? Please ensure you contact Medivet, Comet Way (Southend/Eastwood borders) and also Acres Way Kennels, Thundersley as well as all the usual of vets, councils, kennels etc. Please update on Archie's page whereever possible.

Have texted owner, not received a response. Circumstances a bit awkward due to location and individuals possibly involved. Will keep trying. x
