So pleased to hear that Herbie's vet check went well and that his only injuries are sore paws, I hope his paws heal quickly. I removed the poster on the pooh bins on the little common and on the common. If I come across any more I will remove them as well. Stay safe now Herbie.

Fabulous news! Well done everyone who helped to poster and search for Herbie, especially to Spangles who spent a very long time helping and reassuring owner every step of the way. Even if he was reunited by his tag, you just never know how much the posters played a role as it makes people more aware and also encourages people to help. Well done to the nice people who found him and called owners. This shows the importance of having a tag too as otherwise it would have been a long wait for the dog warden after the weekend. Well done owner for listening to Spangles and searching really hard. Well done Herbie - you made it home baby! So happy!!!! x

YAY!!!!!!! Herbie is back safe and sound with his owners. His bad are worn down really badly and he has a cut to his leg and very very worn out, but his one happy dog back with his mum...Owners are taking him to the vet for a check over just to be sure he hasn't been hit and he may be dehydrated, He was found in SS13 outside a couple's house laying in the flower bed, exhausted, they called the owner from his tag. We can't account for his last three days but his definately exhausted and has been runnning.....Welcome home Herbie stay safe now little man....and owner send a huge thank you to everyone for all their help xxx

If Herbie has been picked up, by someone nice, it is just possible that finder will call dog warden tomorrow (Monday). Otherwise, we have some serious work to do. Well done everyone. I am texting owner re the stables, good idea HP. x

Sorry but I can't currently get out and poster but might be able to later in the week.

Been out with my dogs this morning to the little common and the common, no signs of Herbie. Noticed that there are posters on some of the dog pooh bins, sadly the council seem to remove the posters on the bins when they are emptied but as they are on the side they might leave them. I walk the little common and common every day so if the posters are removed I will replace on a suitable place near to the bins. When the owners visit Acresway please get them to also visit Burches Riding school (it is next door but one to Acresway). There were quite a lot of horse riders out this morning and with the schools being on holiday there will be a lot of lessons and hacks from the local riding schools. The ride outs and hacks will cover a lot of the bridleways and unmade roads that are behind Manor Trading Estate, alongside Church Road and down towards the unmade part of of Gt Burches Rd which leads into the back of Woodside Park.
Hoping Herbie is home today

Spangles, you have been so brilliant! When an owner loses a dog, quite often they just cannot function and I believe this has been the case here. Spangles has not only supported owners, explained that it really is possible to find their dog and shown them how. Helping a panic stricken owner is not easy, but often an owner needs someone to take the lead for them. I understand a lot more posters are needed, so if anyone can print a few even black and whites, or get a few copied and stuck up, this would be really appreciated. We have some of the triangle Herbie is on, so need to poster those places. Wish there were sightings today, but with no posters up before, they would not have known who to call. Herbie is scared and nervous. The majority of sightings come from the public; not just from searching, so posers are the key to finding Herbie. Please help. Thank you. Spangles, I know how hard you've worked, bless you. x

Owner says his very good with other dogs, playful etc, his from Coombwood Drive, I'm at home now so out of the area but have said to the owner to do Grt Burches and call in at Acres Way. thanks for your help
happy dog
Which road does he live in? I'm in Raymonds Drive so he could come my way, when I take my dogs out tomorrow I'll check out the little common before going to the main one.I'll put the contact no's on the poster onto my mobile phone so can call straight away if I see him. Will also let a friend know that lives on Church Rd.
Do you know what Herbie is like with other dogs? One of mine is very playful, if I see him and let her off would he play or would he be nervous?
Would also be worth postering Gt Burches Road, especially Burchess and Crossfell Riding Schools they might catch site of him whilst out on lessons.

Ok another update, he was spotted running down Church Road yesterday afternoon and into the Trading Estate so last sighting now yesterday afternoon. Could be fomring a triangle Kenneth Rd to Tarpots, Tarpots to Manor, Manor to Kenneth. need to concentrate on Manor side of Benfleet x Posters going up at Woodside Park and pet shop, thanks Happy Dog x

The owner has just text me, there is another confirmed sighting of Herbie yesterday, in the morning around the Manor Trading Estate area, the owner has relatives around there and he is at their house a lot. More posters needed around Church Road and Manor Road as he may get confused and head to their house instead. He may also head through the fields beyond and up to Thundersley Common as he is so nervous it will take him away from the traffic and people. No sightings today. Herbie has now missed three meals as he didn't eat yesterday morning as he bolted before he ate, his gonna be hungry. Lets keep postering and make this little man so well known that someone reports seeing him, or keeping him safe x
happy dog
I live in this area and have family who are out and about a lot so have asked them to keep their eyes open. I live in the kenneth road area so if there are more sightings in the area please post asap and if poss I will go out and look. Has anyone let the pet shop in Hart Road know? The lady who owns it is always willing to put a poster up. I walk my dogs on Thundersley common but will contact a lady I know who walks her dogs in Woodside Park, would be worth postering woodside park as it's fairly close to Tarpots and quiet. Hope Herbie is safely home soon.

Just got back, done a 2 hour walk of area. Positive sighting by two people of Herbie in Kenneth Road Thundersley at 9.30 yesterday, he was then spotted an hour later at Tarpots (it is more than possible he covered that amount of ground in the time) he ran from the KFC side of the A13 to the opposite side of the road. I have stopped loads of dog walkers and pedestrians called in on all local vets and shops in the Tarpots parade, owners were still getting posters printed so some shops copied them for us (plus spares) need to hit the area really really heavily with posters not enough up. Have advised owners of best places to put them, also took one of Herbie's toys with us, my dogs were very interested in wood area at the top of Bread and Cheese Hill opposite Wheelers takeaway so posters needed around there, junction of Thundersley Avenue, Kenneth Road etc. Have advised owner to poster all surrounding roads as they may not know where he lives...No reports in any local vets, have told owner to contact Medivet as they cover out of hours of the Benfleet vets, also stopped the postman....fingers crossed not long until we get this baby home x

Owner is in a terrible state. Spangles has gone to help. Herbie is scared of people, so could run further. Herbie has separation anxiety from owner. I believe there were sightings, but not sure if posters are up yet. Have advised Spangles so she should be able to support owner and hopefully get posters up. Also an active area. We need this boy home quickly. xLast edited: 2012-03-31 10:09:00 by Kimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
