- Kim, I am so very sorry to hear about what happened to dear Freddie. Please know he would not have suffered and I am going to email you something which I found helpful, when I lost my dog in the same way. Please know that you were Freddie's real family and you always will be. He had found his home and was happy and loved; his mission complete. I am just so sad he couldn't have stayed on earth with you for a lot longer, but sometimes the special ones have already earnt their wings so its time to fly with God. But, now that he has found you, he won't let you go - he will watch over you from above until, one by one, you are all reunited once more and this time you will never ever part again. God bless sweet Freddie and you. xxx

- My family and I would like to thank everyone who helped search for Freddie, Jane, my friends, Alan the gentleman that found him and all the people I've never meet or didn't know before. We are so sad how Freddie died and although we found him, we'll never know what really happened in the last 16 days of his life, as Jane explained below the crematorium and network rail think he had only been dead for about 4/5 days, so what happened to him the rest of the time? Freddie was only in our lifes for 3 months and in his short life we were his third home, I hope while he was with us that his last few months were happy ones, he certainly made a difference to our lives I worked very hard with him and the whole family bonded with him and loved him, he is and going to be so missed by us all. Thank you all once again and I as Jane said I will keep intouch as a helper and help at shows.

- Hi, Thanks Trudie for taking the time to walk along to Farliegh locks, I've started to email all vets in Kent but takes longer than I thought and I've set up a Twitter account (not very good at this sort of thing) and emailed KM after receiving email from Jane's friend and hopefully they are going to put an artical in KM this week. Tomorrow I'll put more posters out. I had a phone call over the weekend to let me know there was a dead animal by the river, but it wasn't Freddie, thankfully. MazeC was it just one Cocker Spaniel that you saw being walked the other day?

- Hi Kim & MazeC,I have one black Cocker and one blue Roan ages 10 & 12 years, both have docked tails and are not as slim as Freddie. They were wearing red collars so an easy mistake at a glance. We too have been up and down the tow path.We also walked from Maidstone to Farleigh Lock on Saturday hoping for a sighting (dogs are worn out!).You must take posters to all of the vets in the area.I will take one to my vet in Bearsted(Madingford)tomorrow. You could put some up in Mote Park and the Town centre.Someone may know of a person/neighbour who recently acquired a Cocker. We hope so.......Trudie
- 2012-04-09 15:09 Kim
- No nothing, the only possible sighting is from MazeC below, but it could have been Trudi, who I met outside Waitross on Friday, but Trudie has two cockers and I forgot to ask what colour they are? My friends and I also went to the Malta on Friday and walked towards Maidstone, looking over from the other side of the river to the spot where Freddie went missing at the back of woods and onto the land behind and I sure he couln't have gone into the river. We also put posters along that route and one at childrens park (Ringlestone area) that backs onto the river and handed out posters. I've also put a poster in newagents next to Waitrose, two posters in the Milliumum park, Cobtree Manor Park, Newsagents outside the school complex (St Simons etc) on the Queens Road and one in Tescos Express on the Tonbridge Road. I'm now going to email all vets in Kent. Someone has to have him, if only they knew how upsetting it is when you've lost an animal and hand him in!
- 2012-04-08 20:21 Sydney
- Is there any news on Freddie. We walked down to the Malta todat, along the river towards Maidstone, through the Millennium Park and back along the opposite side of the river home. No sightings, no news. Hope Freddie is ok xx
- 2012-04-05 23:19 Kim
- Thank you for letting me know you may have seen him. I will put a poster in the newsagents tomorrow.
- 2012-04-05 21:50 MazeC
- On tuesday i saw a dog that looked very very similar to Freddie being walked by an older lady along Castle road/way. I walk that way twice a day (sometimes more depending on clients) and only remember the dog as i had never seen it before and i know the regulars. It could just be a very similar dog though. If it hasnt been done already the owners may want to put a poster in the newsagents in the shopping center and offer out posters in there, there are alot of dog lovers willing to chat in the shopping center.
- 2012-04-04 22:56 Kim
- Yes he was wearing a red collar, but unfortunately not a tag, but he is microchipped. Thanks again for all your help.
- 2012-04-04 21:18 Sydney
- Really hope he has been taken in by someone (who just didnt know what to do or hasnt seen the posters!) and is safe and warm. No sightings is just frustrating. Will be down the field early again tomorrow am and then will try other local areas to search over the weekend. Was he wearing a collar and tag? Stay safe Freddie xx

- Evening Jane, Trudie & Sydney, yes I did knock on door of Lockwood House Saturday Evening and they hadn't seen anything, but I didn't leave my contact details, but the church that is now a house there wasn't anybody in on Sunday when I knocked on their dooor. I have put any posters out today, but my friend is going to put a poster in Tesco's Express and end of Grace Ave. Thanks again for all your help.
- 2012-04-04 18:21 CJ - Police Liaison & SE Regional Coordinator
- Thanks Trudie- nice to see i have a couple of active helpers on my doorstep!
I had already contacted Network rail as doglost details are already held on their computer. They automatically let workmen and stations in the area know about the dog. plus they have my details on record in case they need to make contact and each incident has a fresh log number.
I think the owner has attempted to contact that house but unsure if she did- i can see land is vast and if he has dogs could attract Freddie over that way?
Thanks everyone who is out there searching and spreading the word. hoping for a sighting or a call to say - oh i found this dog and didnt know what to do !! - 2012-04-04 17:33 Trudie
- I have been searching for Freddie since we met on Saturday evening just after he went missing, I also have two Cockers. We have been through the wood twice daily since. I have also spread the word to boat owners and looked in the woods behind the boat yard as this runs adjacent to the railway line.Have you contacted South Eastern? The land and woods surrounding Lockwood House (opp field) is vast, the owner is a dog lover, maybe you could ask there.
This is so sad, we are all waiting to hear some good news. - 2012-04-04 17:26 CJ - Police Liaison & SE Regional Coordinator
- Had a call back from Allington Lock keeper just tosay he is spreading the word. he has owners deatils plus my number if cant get hold of anyone.
It is so strange that there have been no sightings at all. It makes me think someone has taken him in so we really need to poster around as often folk assume a stray dog is unwanted or dumped rather than missing and being searched for !! With the easter break coming up thee will be lots of people off and if the weather is fine they will be out and about.
By now he needs to start finding food source and should already have located a water source thats if he is not already being fed and water by a finder!
It is really hard to say which direction he would head in - if he came out on Castle road he could head down towards the river and on the river bank could go left or right. he could cross into the large house at the bottom of castle road he could go onto the track leading to the units or up onto the estates then could go right along the bottom roads heading towards maidstone but surely someone would have spotted him if on these roads?? - 2012-04-04 15:45 Kim
- Where would you suggest we look if he did head for the Maidstone area, although I've always lived on the outskirts of Maidstone, I'm not so familiar with all the woods and little roads around Allington/Maidstone. I would appreicate your opinion.
- 2012-04-04 13:34 Sydney
- I know you said you checked the woods etc in the direction he ran, but is it worth checking the area he ran and probably ran to again in case he has got stuck somewhere. Just seems strange no-one has seen him especially if he was heading in the Maidstone direction - someone must have seen if if he carried on going that way! Atleast you will have ruled out him being stuck in that area. Went to the field about 6.30am but no sightings - thought he may have come back looking for you especially early in the am.
- 2012-04-04 13:19 Kim
- None, I've only had one prank phone call, it's as if his disappeared off the face of the earth!!
- 2012-04-04 11:47 Sydney
- Have there been any sightings, someone must have seen him somewhere?
- 2012-04-03 22:23 Kim
- This evening my friend and I have put a poster in The Thomas Wyatt and the Mid Kent Pet Shop (behind Halfords) I also took one into the BP garage on the London Road, (not sure if the will put it up, the woman working there said she will have to ask her manager). Also we put A5 leaflets through letterboxes of houses backing onto the ACA, along Hillenden Road. We drove down Mill Road (I think) Aylesford and put a poster down there. I've also asked my friend who owns Justin Lords to put a poster in his salon.
- 2012-04-03 15:40 Sydney
- Assuming he stayed this side of the river and was origainally heading towards Maidstone you could put posters up at Tesco Express at top of Grace Avenue and various roads in that area as he could have come out of the woods and made his way up the lane that goes between the boatyard and the bottom of Grace Ave under the railway bridge. Millenium Park might also be an idea as lots of people over Easter and he may have headed that way. Otherwise, Sainsburys at Quarry Wood Retail Park and even the Police on the Coldharbour roundabout. Have some days off work now so will carry posters wherever I go.
- 2012-04-03 15:35 Kim
- My friend has given a poster to Pets at Home today and Pinions, I've already put posters up by Malta, I'll ask my friend as well to give poster to bin men on Friday, I was going to give a poster to Thomas Wyatt tonight, I'll drive round and find that pets behind Halfords etc. My friend has sent an email to her dog trainer who often trains around that area and she is sending out details.Last edited: 2012-04-03 15:40:41 by Kim

- As many places that will take posters will be good especially over this easter weeknd. You could also see if the refuse collection vans will take a poster and spread the word- collection day is friday and same this week even though its a bank holiday. i will leave one on top of my bin for them- they are used to me doing that !!
Allington libary if they will have one plus a few places on the Quarry Wood Industrial Estate there is a pet shop but cannot remember the name- its on the road that goes behind the pets at home and halfords etc
pets at home is another good place- where there is also a vets at the back of the shop
Pinions on the main london road.
Hope you managed to get one at the Malta as it will be busy over the Easter period.
You could also try the Thomas Wyatt whether they would put one in the entrance maybe?
We will put one in our van so visable while we are driving around plus on the drive so other dog walkers will see it. - 2012-04-03 14:23 Kim
- thanks for you help, both of you I really appreciate it, I gave a poster to the Postman this morning and he going to put one up in sorting office. I was going to put more posters out this evening where do you think I should go now!
- 2012-04-03 12:00 Sydney
- Went to the field 7am this am but no sightings, will go down that way quickly at lunch time. Will get some posters up and will keep telling everyone - would be good to have a sighting!

- Found an email for aylesford bulls barmanager so asked if a poster can go up in the bar.

- Thanks Sydney Ive already emailed posters to gallagers and museum of kent life but didnt think of the rugby club - good idea.
SYDNEY
As you are on that estate any chance you could maybe put a poster in front garden and ask the local kids to keep an eye open especially those out on bike rides in the area - as they are on easter hols?? - 2012-04-03 10:22 Riverlady
- Have put Freddie on twitter + will circulate.
- 2012-04-03 09:56 Kim
- Thank you Sidney, I had thought of this area, I have already put posters around the lock and Malta Inn, but will put posters up in the areas you've suggested. Jane's been brilliant but any suggestions or help is gratefully received, I so want to get Freddie back home. His Owner
- 2012-04-03 09:08 Sydney
- The new estate is where I live. If he came out of the field via Castle Road there is a footpath on the right hand side if you are going up Castle Road just after the railway bridge, this goes towards Aylesford (there is a railway siding there with workers ocassionally). The Caslte Road side of the field is a bit more rural, woods and then the river which again would take him towards Aylesford. Might be worth giving poster to Gallaghers, Ayesford Rugby Club and Museum of Kent Life next to the Malta - lots of people will be there in Easter holidays.
- 2012-04-03 05:47 CJ - Police Liaison & SE Regional Coordinator
- IF ANYONE LOCAL can put up more posters locally it would be a great help.
Very unlikely he would get accross the river but just in case if anyone is Ringlestone side a few posters wont do any harm. - 2012-04-03 05:47 CJ - Police Liaison & SE Regional Coordinator
- Thanks Sydney- spreading the word and alerting dog walkers will be a terrific help!!
Met up with owner and her friend last night at the open space handing out information on route to dog walkers anyone who walks that area including teenagers on school break – from the new estate just up from this area.
Luckily Castle road is very quiet once traffic turns into estate and anyone coming down is either going to the open space or further down to the river or marina.
Information has been given to castle grounds anyone in boats along the river.
We were allowed access to the water board land just incase got into that but no signs of anything there.
Freddie run into the wood are in far right corner of open space. He was quickly followed by 2 people whilst the e 3rd remained in the fields. They stayed searching for 3 hours but there was no sign of him.He just disappeared.
Area is bounded by wire fencing which separates a steep bank down to railway lines. A few areas where fence does not meet the ground but its very low and if a dog attempted to squeeze underneath then fur would have been caught on the wire sticking out- no signs of this at all. Went right down the steep part checking areas but could not see anywhere that a dog could get trapped.
The woods then go down hill towards the river which then goes onto the water board land where we searched. If he ventures left on Castle road he would head down towards the locks but I am unsure a dog would venture across the bridge to the other side. Just in case the Malta pub will be notified as well.
If he came back out and went right he would go back up Castle road towards the new estate or if he took a path that runs off castle road that leads out to industrial units so owner is going there as well so also aware.
Local shops vets have been notified and on way home I needed to collect our dinner so the fish and chip shop has also got a poster.
- 2012-04-02 20:49 Sydney
- We are very local to the Open Space and regularly walk our dogs there, will make sure I look out for Freddie and will keep telling people about him. There are woods around there, especially down towards the river and also the Castle grounds. Im sure Freddie is safe and will hopefully be found soon. Please ask if you need anything xx
