I know its difficult Bobby4 but are you checking with the Gateshead DW everyday because he will take any unmicrochipped dog to Benton Lane kennels in Newcastle. And you really must go over to look at the dogs as they are known to get the breed type wrong (probably because they are so busy) I tel for a Patterdale cross Lakeland Terrier who I knew was there, but they did say 'No' at first as they had him down as Terrier???? He was there. Good luck hope you get another sighting soon.
emmalouise
ah well it would make sense for him to head somewhere familiar then, have you spoken to the people that live there now and neighbours? he may hang around your old house or in one of the gardens there if he feels comfortable i'd knock on the door and ask them to keep an eye out
also if there's a nearby park you used to go there check that out, if he is still out there (which obviously we don't know without more sightings) I've seen on here that they tend to develop a 'triangle' covering an area to get what they need, like they'll go somewhere for food somewhere for shelter. but difficult to know without more sightings and I'm not sure why but I've haven't heard of a lot of staffies doing this!
I guess you are still checking kennels as you seem on top of the search, but keep doing this particularly being a mix breed
If you haven't already maybe post posters through doors around that area too, thought they can get pretty far so he may of moved on or been taken in by someone obviously x
Bobby4
Hi, No further sightings but were going to keep going to that area early in the morning and late at night as you advised. We actually used to live in this area so he is very familiar with it we only lived two streets away from were he was last seen xx
emmalouise
have there been any more sightings?
also noticed more pictures on www.facebook.com/bobbygateshead which show his markings better for anyone that wants to check
Unknown
Hope bobby will be found soon. Everything xd.
emmalouise
very happy to see Bobby at the top of the page!
over the weekend if you can try searching late at night/early in the morning when it's quiet and he's more likely to be out
as i said before i can't believe he's managed to stay so hidden in a residential area, you said he's weary of strangers and i guess he must not want to be found
are there any routes/places around there he's familiar with?

Thanks for your help Jill.
All crossed Bobby4. Have emailed you some info on scenting and mapping the sightings. Text me later if you want me to give you a call.
Check your posters are still up in the sighted areas and continue to ring the dog warden and with your checks of the stray kennels/local vets.
best of luck xxLast edited: 2012-04-28 07:06:46 by Minigirl - Area Co-ordinator, West Yorkshire

HI, I live on Lyndhurst estate, work at the QE and my son goes to a local school and plays football at Cleveland Hall (Lynhurst school). Shared on facebook and will print out posters and display. Will be spreading the word.

Keep going, you are doing well. Get some posters in cars, in houses, shops and other places where they can't be taken down as well as renewing those that have been. Give to taxi drivers, bus drivers, everyone! You can do it, keep going. xxx
Bobby4
Hi minigirl, he was seen alone, I will hand out some flyers as well, thank you :) xx
Minigirl - Area Co-ordinator, West Yorkshire
Hi Bobby4 - was the reported sighting of him with someone or on his own?
Also hand some flyers to the children from the school nearby the possible sighting.
best of luck xxLast edited: 2012-04-19 21:07:34 by Minigirl - Area Co-ordinator, West Yorkshire

As Emmalouise has already said please try to get lots of posters up in the area of this sighting ASAP and also continue to keep checking with the stray kennels . Good luck xxxLast edited: 2012-04-19 09:39:58 by Jumanji - Co-ordinator.South.Yorkshire
emmalouise
oh yay i really hope it is him! if you don't already have him by now (which i hope you do!) might be worth doing another check of kennels today in case he's been seen and picked up and obviously poster a bit more round that area x
Maggie
Good luck, i really hope you find Bobby VERY soon x

I've bumped his page due to the sighting
Bobby4
Possible sighting of Bobby near Lyndhurst School, 2 mile walk from home, have people keeping an eye out in the area and going up ourselves asap x
emmalouise
also the facebook page is a good idea, try posting it on the doglost north east fb group and missing dog facebook groups or other rescues etc in your area
(i've already done the ones i could think of)
emmalouise
Good, you've done all the right things i really hope he show's up!
if you can its worth saying about a reward on the posters too (no need to state an amount and only has to be small) as unfortunately this can persuade people to do the right thing and give a dog back when they wouldn't otherwise
Bobby4
Thanks minigirl and emmalouise Ive contacted my local paper about getting an ad in for Bobby so that should be in early next week, I'll keep checking vets and kennels too, I'm heading out over the weekend to put as many posters up as possible and have placed ads on as many different websites as i can, Bobby also has his own Facebook page now https://www.facebook.com/bobbygateshead xx
emmalouise
i think that i've heard people on here say that people who have placed ads can be traced but you'd probably need more evidence of it being bobby, have you contacted anyone who's placed ad's on gumtree etc looking for staffy types? particularly in the area, sometimes someone trying to sell a stolen dog will contact them offering one for cheap (i hope that makes sense)
as minigirl said especially as his breed status is unclear definitely keep checking kennels, and i guess minigirl has also said to you about checking with dog wardens in surrounding areas as well?
i googled mapped the area and it looks very residential so i'd be very surprised if he hasn't been picked up, so postering is definitely the most important thing maybe try targeting areas like pet shops/post offices etc places people might go if they'd found a dog!

hi there bobby4
i know you have been to the kennels in person. i would keep going every few days to check. also you could ring round all the local vets again.
you could see if your local paper would be willing to do an appeal article on him.
Also keep up the good work of postering the area- someone may recognise him if he has been picked up for safe keeping.
really hope you have some news of him soon

Hi, I'm Bobbys owner (thanks everyone for your help, its been much appreciated). Ive tried to contact the man selling the dog on the gumtree and uk puppies websites but he has had his phone turned off for two days and hasnt answered my email either. Is there anything else that I could do?

Thanks!
Maggie
I have found another Ad for the dog which was posted on gumtree, they say the dog is just over 1 years old, pic on and shows a red staffy (thats if thats the dogs actual photo! which it isn't, just checked google images, taken of a breeders website!)

Bobby who is 4 years old, went missing from the garden on Thursday- the owners think he managed to escape. He was seen a couple of streets away on the afternoon of when he went missing.
owners have reported to dog warden, stray kennels and local vets.
have advised re visiting the stray kennels in person.
have also advised about getting as many posters up as possible in the local area in case someone has taken him in for safe keeping.
