- Well done you! Great detective work, but like you say, it would be so much easier if owners kept the info up-to-date. Very lucky for Bert (and his owners) that you found him and kept him safe.

- THE IMPORTANCE OF UPDATING YOUR MICRO CHIP ASAP: I (the finder of the dog) did all the right things such as taking dog to vets for scanning, leaving my name and number with vets (medivet) rang dog warden, local council kennels, registering on doglost, circulated on facebook. I even played detective until early hours of the morning as i had the owners details from the micro chip, unfortunately this owners phone number was now out of use and after playing detective i discovered they had moved from the address on the chip, great! they could be anywhere! I decided to pay a website that could inform me of neighbours phone numbers and the date of Bert's owners move to which i matched up hoping and praying that the owners had moved to Hockley and wasnt just visiting! with a list of old neighbours numbers and a list of new home owners in Hockley on the same date as the old house sold this morning i rang one of there old neighbours who confirmed she knew the owner of Bert and gave me her new number. The owner of Bert was as i suspected exhausted, worried sick but ecstatic to have Bert back. I had infact got there address on my list of ones to investigate. Power of the internet amazes me! but! wouldnt it have been so much more easier to have updated his details on his chip and ensured he had an disk on his collar, it would have saved me hours of unnecessary trawling and the owner all them hours of worry and stress. Having said that am soooo pleased this dog is going into the blue as it's one less for me to try and rehome :-)
