- Sansorella, thank you so much for posting that message - it must have been very hard to do. Some people just do not have a heart and that is actually their loss as they will never know the kind of love you share with Whisper, still. I am not even sure it was about the sheep, but about the the monetary cost. When an animal is killed by a natural predator, it is usually quick and clean. Nature is made that way. You have found your baby and she has found you - she can be at peace knowing she is no longer lost to you. What an amazing girl she is. I wish I had the answers you need; I wish I could give you the justice deserved. I believe there will be both, eventually, but at that time it won't matter any more because you will be back with beautiful Whisper in heaven and God will sort the rest out. Until that time, please know Whisper will never leave your side! Truly. xxx

- Thank you everyone for your kind words and all the help and support we've had from a wonderful network of dog loving people all over the country, especially in Lincolnshire. We brought her home yesterday and she was laid to rest overlooking the fields that she loved. She never did trust people and it seems with good cause. No one can hurt her now. x

- Whisper went missing from my garden on the 12th April - we believe she was stolen as a week after she disappeared I had calls about a number of sightings of her 40 miles away, where she mysteriously appeared just a couple of hours after disappearing. She was a very clever girl but even she couldn't have got that far without transport. I suspect she either escaped or was dumped. We went to the place she was seen and spoke to a number of people who all confirmed that she was the dog they had seen and we believe she spent about a week in this area, probably getting her bearings. Then a newspaper report with a photo showed that she had started making her way home and was about halfway. We searched and searched and followed up every lead, but we failed to catch up with her. Almost a week ago there was a sighting of her just 10 miles from home - she had travelled in an almost straight line across country and covered about 30 miles - she was almost home. Then very sadly she found herself in a large country estate where there were sheep and the temptation and probably hunger was too much for her. Unfortunately she returned a second night and was seen killing sheep and consequently shot. I can understand that farmers have to safeguard their livestock, but I cannot understand why they didn't contact the police or dog warden after the first sheep was killed - when I would have been told and could have got over there with sufficient volunteers to round her up so the second attack would never have happened. Instead, they lay in wait for her and ended my beautiful girl's life. We are devestated. I would just like to add that the police were informed and her body wasn't dumped as some believe - but none of this will bring her back. You almost made it home baby - love you and miss you terribly. Run free now. xxx

- Oh noooo! I hate these people who shoot dogs! Yes, I am sure the police would be involved and the co-ordinator for this area would have been in contact. I know farmers are legally allowed to shoot a dog if troubling livestock, but why they can't use blanks I don't know. Even if this were the case, to simply dump a body is completely immoral. However, it could be that is wasn't a farmer. Poor owners. This is a terrible, terrible thing to have happen to a beloved dog. How do you come to terms with something like this? At least this lovely girl is now safe from harm, and hopefully she would have gone to heaven quickly. She has a loving family and they will all be together again one. I pray God can grant Whisper's owners justice and peace, eventually, knowing that their girl is okay now and with them always. She has earnt her wings. xxx

- So sorry for you that you have lost your girl in this way. Do we know why she died like this? Should this not be a Police matter? As sad as this is at least you have closure, and know that your baby is now in God`s care, where no more harm can befall her. When the time is right Whisper will be waiting for you at the bridge; you will never be parted from her again. Sometimes when an animal has died in suich a tragic way you may get a sign to tell you they are ok. Hope you do. Night, night sweetheart sleep tight, now safe in God`s care where no harm can come to you. RIP Whisper+++ Sending your owners loads of comforting hugs and absent healing for their sorrow. God Bless.

- I'm hating writing this but I have just read on the S.H.A.R.E. rescue site that Whisper's body has been found. She had been shot! Another little girl who never made it home. My thoughts are with her family who must be devastated. Another pup who has crossed over to Rainbow Bridge through no fault of her own. R.I.P Whisper XX

- Still praying for the safe return of Whisper, come home soon sweetheart, your pack misses you.
- 2012-05-03 11:24 AlisonH
- Just spoken to owner and Whisper is still on the run. There have been various sightings but most turn out to be Huskies, however all sightings are being followed up.
- 2012-04-29 15:53 AlisonH
- So sorry Whisper still hasn't been found and well done you for helping to catch the stray Husky.
- 2012-04-28 17:03 sansorrella
- Just to let everyone know that Whisper is still missing. All the 'sightings' around the Boston/Skegness area have proven to be siberian huskies (one of which I managed to catch yesterday and he will hopefully be reunited with his owner very soon). There are still reported sightings in the Welton area and I am hopeful that she is still in the area - going over there on monday to poster the area. If people could let us know asap of any sightings we might be able to see whether there is a pattern and predict where she might go next - with the possibility of placing a trap ahead of her. Thanks everyone for your help - it's very heartening to know that so many total strangers care and are trying to help.

- Praying Whisper is found and is returned home very soon. Keep strong....

- Thanks Newman Towers. The pack are being used to try and lure Whisper out of hiding. Owner is extremely knowledgable about tis breed of dog and is doing all the appropriate things to try and catch Whisper. A trap has been discussed but at the moment other avenues are being explored.

- Whisper has been sighted several times. golf course. Owner has been over to the sighting area but so far has not seen her but after showing the poster to the people they are sure it is her. She is a very nervous dog so if you see her PLEASE DO NOT TRY TO CATCH HER as she will bolt. Call the owner who can be over there in half an hour. Bumping due to sightings.Last edited: 2012-04-25 16:49:36 by AlisonH

- Hi there, Any news???? I've copied the link to my Facebook friends in and around the Welton area. It might be an idea to phone the chip shop there and ask them to put up a poster, it's called Kedgeree. I will certainly keep a lookout and hopefully we will all manage to get Whisper home safe and sound!!

- Have now spoken to the owner and she has had a couple of calls from a lady who believes she saw Whisper in the Welton area of Lincoln on Thursday. Whisper disappeared under very suspicious circumstances and it is believed she was taken and dumped by someone known to the owner but nothing can be proved. Posters have been put up, vets, dog wardens, police and rescue centres alerted and an appeal has gone out on the radion. Network rail have been contacted and owner is now going to contact the highways department.Last edited: 2012-04-21 16:49:05 by AlisonH
