I haven't been able to post on some of these, as quickly as I'd like as sometimes it just hurts too much. Bella found her family but I am just so sad she didn't have more time with them before God called her to collect her wings. But, He took her quickly so she didn't suffer. Who are we to know the reasons? But it would so help if we did. God bless you sweetest Bella, you have a loving family now and they will always be yours. You will be together again - this time forever. Neil and Gary, you did so well. Sometimes, it is just not meant to be. She is safe now. xxx

Oh noooo, I so sorry and very sad to read this. I was hoping that she would have headed back towards Sheepy after she was seen by the canal. Wish I could have spent more time looking for her. R.I.P. Bella X

I am so sorry to see that Bella has gone to Rainbow bridge:-( I only checked her page this morning to see if there was any news. Run free gorgeous girl, I can't believe how many have been lost on the railways recently. I don't know how to post the link but please sign Kim's petition if u haven't already done so to try and get railways fenced off to try and stop this happening. xx

Please don't feel like that Neil, it can be very difficult catching frightened dogs and you're always hoping that they stay away from roads, rails and rivers until hopefully they are caught.
Neil
That is so sad! I always think could we/I have done more?
Ellie

Posters instigated a call from a railway worker who sadly found Bellas body on the line. Owner would like to thanl everyone for helping and at least they have closure and her body to bury.

The only sighting I heard about was on Friday in the field between the canal and the B5000. When approched it seems she ran off towards road. I walked from Kitchens Bridge towards Poleswoth but no one had seen her so maybe worth looking up the Farm Lane area. I'll try to get out sometime this afternoon and put some more posters up.
Unknown
Owners Grand-daughter called me yesterday afternoon. She was asking for any sightings as she was out looking and could not see her. She had been down the canal path and in the fields but there was no sign at all.
Neil
Covered the planned route and further along towpath to the North, between about noon and 14:30. Still no trace though! Nor has anybody I spoke to has seen Bella. As I was about to leave, crossed paths with Gary, who was armed with posters - Good man! Has there been any further contact/input from the owners?
Neil
I'm going out again around noon today; will cover a route from the canal at Kitchen's bridge on the B5000 Nr. Grendon(Lat52.605367,Long-1.586752), along the canal, up Spon Lane, and back on the B5000. I'll have a walkie talkie(PMR446) with me on channel 5, sub channel 24, You have my name!
Garry_GSD
I was out walking the stretch of canal between Whittington Lane and Spon Lane this evening but no sightings tonight. Was told that a GSD was seen this morning on the Polesworth side of Spon Lane and it ran from the towpath into fields. I’ll try to get out tomorrow for another look around.

Spoke to owner, he is going to call DW for Atherstone and see what can be done. Trap was set up on farm but she wasn't caught due to cats. People have got close to her but she is very scared.
B30
Thanks lorrainespuma. Do you know if anyone has notified the owner?
lorrainespuma
I've just been told that shes been seen on the canal towpath in the last 20 minutes on the Grendon side of Polesworth, and shes run off along the towpath in the Grendo/Atherstone direction
Neil
Update: Lunchtime today, I spent a while around the area of the junction at which "lorrainespuma" described, armed with binocs. Couldn't see any trace. Just had a call to say she's still out and about but some distance from where last reported.Last edited: 2012-05-02 17:06:12 by Neil

Hi Neil, I work at the garage opposite and our postcode is CV9 3NB. Woodwards farm and the fields she is known to be in are north of the garage on the map (just opposite across the B5000) but we personally havent had any sightings of her
Neil
What's the latest on this one - any news? A map reference or post code for the area she's in would be useful. I don't live too far away and can have a look, but don't know the farm!

Spoke to owner,Bella is hanging around the barn area quite a lot. Hopefully Ian can set the trap up soon.

Spoke to grand-daughter yesterday, they were on their way upto the field. Weather yesterday was awful so waited until the afternoon to go up. DW from Tamworth said he will help with a trap and they were calling him, so no news today as yet.
lorrainespuma
Any news on this dog? I work at the garage opposite the fields she is known to be in and have put up posters this morning
Unknown
Spoke to owner. Her grand-daughter went up earlier to take food and saw Bella but her partner went as well and as she is scared of men she ran off. Slippers and night wear have been left. Fingers crossed she stays safe xx
Unknown
Thanks Sharon. I have sent email.

Lizzy....posted doglost post to Ian Webb...reply was as follows.....Ian Webb We are aware of this dog and Lee has been involved but outside of our area, have offered our services with a trap but not heard back.........Maybe worth a go?
Unknown
Spoke to GD again but she has moved out of field again. I have googled area but it is just field after field. Spoke to DW he went out yesterday but couldn't find her. Owner is getting desperate now. Wonder if it is worth trying a trap.

Grand-daughter phoned to say she is in the field with the dog who is walking round in circles (not running)gave her advice to sit down and make whimpering noises and not to look at her or call her.
Unknown
Spoke to owner. I have advised her to poster the main road, which goes through the village. It is quite a busy road with lots of bends. Bella is 3 miles from home but she said the hedges around the farm are quite high with the ground being dry underneath, so she is putting her night clothes underneath later on and also some food. Her Grand-daughter got close to her yesterday but she was scared and ran off. Grand-daughter has tried local radio. Not sure if DW has been contacted as it is the weekend. May be a good idea to contact the police.
