How very sad Rip Badger x

Four years badger lad, but not forgotten. xx

Still think of Badger regular. Every posting I see where lives are taken by the railways makes me think of the trauma we had with NR.

I can hardly see to type through the tears. I've been following this from the beginning but have been away for almost two weeks with no internet access, so I'm totally shocked and saddened to read this. Network Rail should be ashamed of themselves, what a disgusting and insensitive lot they are! My heart goes out to Badger's family - you didn't deserve to lose your baby like this.

RIP Badger, run free at Rainbow Bridge sweetheart xx

I am totally upset by this awful outcome, made even worse by Network Rail's lack of compassion and poor attitude. My heart goes out to you. I know this outcome is almost unbearable but you must keep going, for Badger is right there with you. I wish I could give you answers, but I can't. God knows how I have asked Him for so long. But what I do know is that God takes his special ones quickly and without pain. You see, Badger never left you! He just couldn't get back to you physically. But he is always with you now, just a whisper away. Put out your hand to touch him and he will be there. I promise. I have added Badger's name to our campaign and I am sure he is already at work alongside my Cassie. As with precious Poppy's owner (34804), look at all the hearts Badger has touched. All those he has brought together in his name. What a wonderful boy you have and always will have. He can rest now, you have found him. I know you don't have his body, but he doesn't worry about that because you have him! Bodies are just dust that go back to the earth, but Badger's soul is forever and forever he is yours. May God bless you and sweet Badger, safe in his arms till you are together once more; this time you will never part again! May your hearts know peace. With love, Kim (and Badger's new friend in heaven, Cassie x).

Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

It is with a very heavy heart that I am moving Badger to Rainbow Bridge. My thoughts are with Badger's family and to EVERYONE who has continued the search and worked tirelessly to bring this lovely boy home to his family. It is not the outcome we wanted but at least his family now have closure.

RIP sweet Badger, run forever free at Rainbow Bridge xxx

Heartbroken to confirm our worst fears. Badger's harness has been found by the railway line where the body was removed. So very very sorry fella, so very sorry indeed. At least his Mum and Daisy now have closure. We would urge EVERYONE that has an interest in the wellbeing of our dogs to support http://www.change.org/petitions/national-campaign-for-cassie-s-law-for-safer-railways-for-dog-and-owner in the name of all the poor creatures who have lost their lives this way. RIP Badger, run free at the Rainbow Bridge little man, til your Mum and Daisy see you again. You've taken a little piece of all our hearts with you xxxxx

Thanks Andi for update.......am disgusted with Network Rail. Wonder would newspapers be interested in how insensitive they have been.
Andi
Network Rail have further shown themselves in their true colours - last night they tweeted a full description of the circumstances surrounding the death of a dog (presumed to be Badger) on their line that they removed and incinerated. They sent this information in a tweet via Twitter into a public domain, sharing the private and sensitive information with 8,300 people who follow them, and this infromation has now been retweeted so many times and so far away that people in the USA are replying to complain to Network Rail for their insensitivity and crass and clumsy handling of this whole case. We also need to check Data Protection issues. Cannot believe their heartless, insensitivity around such a delicate matter as to tweet a report!!!

I've popped Badger's page on the National Petition as an update. Hopefully this will alert people's attention to help find Badger. x
skippy
Hi Kimmybear, thanks for all this information - we very much appreciate you taking time to share your experience. Mash and Andi I think are quite busy this weekend, so may struggle to find the time to reply right away, but they have been very active in trying to establish whether this is Badger, and have already followed up many of the options you suggest. I too will have a look at the petition. x
AnnieSparky
Thankyou Kimmybear for your advice and information, will also look at the petition. x
DogLostKimmybear - Area Co-ordinator, Essex & Hertfordshire borders
Owners, can I suggest you go onto the station platform, and/or any helpers, and you stay there all day; between you make a rota, and each one of you pass a poster to the driver of every train that stops. In fact, maybe someone could do alternate stations because sometimes they stop at one but not the next (in both directions). This may provide you with more info to establish whether this could have been Badger. Or even go to the end of the line and catch every driver. Although, it is usually when a driver is near to where the dog went missing that he remembers easier. Drivers see dogs all the time, they get desensitised. But someone knows something. Also, it may be a good idea to do more than one day as drivers work shifts. Secondly, I don't know all the details on how Badger disappeared, but could he have got back home from where he was lost? Did he know the area? Is it unusual for him to disappear? If a dog, or any animal, is lost, or rummaging, or chasing something they don't know they are on a train line. Trains come suddenly, out of the blue, often without being heard depending on the wind etc and at such speeds. Animals do not know what it is, so they freeze. (Please know, they go to heaven quickly). I've read all through Badger's pages and a number of things apparently stated by Network Rail are not necessarily the truth. One said that after a week there is no log. This shouldn't be the case. Logs are permanent - or supposed to be. The problem is, it could have been a cover up because most dogs are never logged. I do not believe NR scans dogs, ever. Railway workers have confirmed this to me, time and time again, but the organisation itself says all sorts of things depending on who you speak to. British Transport police can and sometimes do can, I believe. If Badger was wearing a collar and a harness, then someone would know if either one of these was on this found dog. NR either disposes of an animal's body or buries it near the track, or even leaves it, if out of view and nature takes care of this in the most natural way possible. But where is the collar? Sometimes they do come off, but very often they do not. You need to locate the person that actually viewed this dog on the line. I suggest you speak to the Transport Police and plead for help from them to locate this rail worker. I also suggest you approach your MP and ask for help. Hopefully, your MP has a dog. Speak to the people on the ground as they are more likely to help than the actual organisation, who don't even know their own procedure a lot of the time. You may find someone working there that will go out of their way for you. Ask around the stations. Put a plea in the local papers for any train drivers that could help, although the problem is often that they cover miles so may not live in that vicinity. You need to think about these sightings and the times when there were none. And the times it was the other dog. What does your gut instinct tell you? Would this make any sense? Did Badger simply vanish? Now, the other thing is, collies are truly amazing at living in the wild. So it is very possible Badger is still out there. However, with a train line so close (I don't know the area so am guessing from the posts) it would remain a constant danger. I would say, just bear all this is mind, but carry on searching and at some point something should crop up which should help you know what to do. If Badger is still out there, then he will crop up! Never say never. Its not over till its over. Come on Badger baby, show your owners where you are if you can. God bless x

Hi, can I ask that you look at this petition. It will tell you all you need to know about Network Rail. They do have a procedure, its very hit and miss! Mostly miss. http://www.change.org/petitions/national-campaign-for-cassie-s-law-for-safer-railways-for-dog-and-owner
Mash
Beginning to think they don't necessarily have a procedure as no one I spoke to really knew what they did. Think that is the next question. Area that needs doing if any is around the park possibly and the Eaves Lane area mentioned in previous post
AnnieSparky
Thanks for update, Mash. Very little information from network rail, despite all your hard work. I wonder why this poor dog wasnt scanned for microchip, thought it would be part of the procedure. As you say, we cant assume this "black and white collie" was Badger....poor dog belonged to someone though :(
Have we covered enough area around by the park do you think? Wonder which direction he went from the car park?
Mash
Just to let you know Network Rail have said they will be closing the file as they feel they have given us all the information there is available. They have confirmed that the dog was found whilst doing a Track Patrol and it was a black and white collie so therefore is Badger. Having experienced chasing the number of black and White Collies over the last week of which weren't Badger there is no reason to believe from the description "black and white collie" that its him. They have also said it is unlikely that there will be any more information to give to us so end of. I am told I may receive a call on Weds 13th and this will probably be official confirmation of such. He also told me that the information had already been given to us by a friend of a friend of the Network Rail and that information was all that was available. Having managed to get a Fault No from Network Rail it it was confirmed that the call was from an internal source - so why cant the person who made that call come forward and give information - this is not acceptable and whilst how ever much we complain they may not give out more information - this is not the end Network Rail !!!
Mash
Will keep you updated AnnieSparky
AnnieSparky
Thanks Mash....will be down again soon anyway to help...hopefully some good news soon x
Mash
Hi Annie - thanks so much for you kind offer, but will get this covered more locally we hope. Yourself and Skippy travel enough to help out and we just wanted a bit more help from the local people. Today has been a rough day with all the stuff going on, and all I can say to you is, just be thankful you dont have facebook. Thanks again and will let you know if anything else positive comes
AnnieSparky
Sorry, just read your post. It takes me about 40 mins to drive to Eaves Lane, might be able to get down on Friday evening. I dont get in from work until 6pm so wont have long by the time I get there, but will do what I can....dont want to be out in the dark by myself as not that familiar with the area. Hope you guys have recovered from your day today.
Mash
Following on from todays sighting - is there anyone who can leaflet drop the houses around The Moorings and Canal Walk on Eaves Lane side of the canal. I appreciate people are in work during the day and unable to attend to sightings but now is an opportunity to help out this evening. The other side of the canal has been done on the new estate but the posters around the areas mentioned above seem to keep being removed (Chorley Council I guess). Best option is target the houses. This is now another sighting and not sure if the same one that was caught last week and escaped again or what - but until we know for sure we need to do everything possible. If you drive down to Canal Walk and park by the play area you can walk all along the front of the houses there that face the canal right upto The Moorings - this was where the last sighting was. Please let me know by either return comment or inbox as this needs to be done asap. Thanks
Mash
Also, as of yet, no news from Rail Network. You are just a number to be processed and they will not, I repeat WILL NOT, give you any internal numbers to speak to. You have to go through the process department and they will "process" your call. I did finally get an internal number for a guy who I spoke to and managed also to get some reference numbers that relate to the incident. It is apparently the control team that would deal with that, but I am not allowed their number to ring them, and the string puppet on the process department team told me that they would not call me as "It was not an emergency or a current incident". However, someone should be calling me back tomorrowLast edited: 2012-06-06 17:51:24 by Mash

It is so frustrating especially today - chasing the calls from highways agency regarding the dog that ended up in the RTA. On the way back from identifying that dog (R.I.P) another call comes in for a sighting on Eaves Lane again and as much as we would love to be we are finding bloody hard for us to be in 2 places at the same time and getting there some 40mins after the sighting means he could be miles away. But whilst on canal did see a CSO who covers that patch (at the time she was attending to an injured bat), but she has taken cards to keep on her and to give to the other CSO's that cover the canal path. Also more dog walkers
Andi
No joy. We really do need to ask if anyone in and around the Chorley area is able to offer help when sightings are reported - as until Network Rail can confirm or deny that was Badger on the line then we have to continue to pursue all options but need some help if anyone is willing? Two sightings today, one which we know had a very sad outcome but the other, just now, back at Eaves Lane area where we have had two sightings previously. Does anyone live locally and willing to lend a hand? Thanks x
Mash
Just had a call. Sighting of border. Collie at The Moorings. Eaves Lane Hospital Chorley. Can anyone get there
Andi
Mash - thanks for going to ID and putting yourself through that awful situation. So sorry to hear that someone else's baby won't make it home today. RIP fella xx
Mash
Another sighting back on M61 heading towards M6. Went back out there but dont think it was Badger - not enough white. Unfortunately the dog was hit and died as I got there. They will scan and let me know later, but sorry, signing off for a bit now
Mash
Just back from M61 - Police dog handler sighted dog but it disappeared up the embankment into fields. Could not confirm either way if Badger. Andrea Newton had sight of dog but said it did not look like Badger. Unable to get near the dog due to it walking against the flow of traffice on the hard shoulder. Bouncing down with rain at the time and the spary from traffice made visibility very difficult. The bridge over the motorway is the point where Denham Lane meets Birchin Lane in Wheelton. I went across the fields above the the embankment but the embankment is so dense unable to get very far in and then found myself being chased by cows to the point of throwing myself over the fence. The Police Dog handler knew of Badger and while I was there gave out some cards to a couple of dog walkers too. Sorry guys but nothing more . . . . .
AnnieSparky
Thanks Andi for quick update. Was ready to rush down there to help.......hopefully soon someone will see him or have some positive information. Everything crossed x
Andi
Sorry guys, no joy - it may have been the elusive "Prince" that was sighted again, or indeed the one on the CCTV footage - either way no joy - Spoke to the guy who reported the sighting and he suggested this dog had a limp but a local dog walker said he had also seen and it had much shorter hair than Badger, so we think perhaps it was the CCTV dog again. We spent some time scooting around fields, talking to folk and have leafleted the houses etc near the sighting area - the problem we have in Coppull is that people keep reporting Prince, who is a known local wanderer, and there is another dog loose there too, again who is NOT Badger but to people who don't know dogs, every black and white dog they see is potentially Badger so we have to just keep following up on sightings, even though we know it may well be these other 2 (does that make any sense at all?!?!) - thanks anyway and fingers crossed for some more positive news soon xx

Hi All, Been out since 9.30 this morning with Andi and Skippy. Postered, leaflet dropped and cards given out all day today. Saw the lady at Eccleston Kennels first thing this morning and because she is pretty sure seeing Badger after 18th April we have covered a wider area today. Done Eccleston again, Doctors Lane, Tincklers Lane and the main road through from Park Hall Road to the river. Moved on to Croston, Grape Lane, Syd Brook Lane and the High Street. Over the river to Drinkhouse Lane and the full loop throught Carr Lane, Sumners Lane, Moss Lane. From here moved onto German Lane and repostered there to try and get the guy to ring back, then over to Worden Park. Handed out 50+ cards to dog walkers, but the biggest problem we have there is that the warden keeps taking the posters down DAILY. Spoke to him and he will see if his “line manager” will allow them to go in the Notice Board. Good work to AnnieSparky as she found a good spot in the park which people have seen today and the posters are still there. A lady who knew about Badger took about 100 leaflets off me to put in here Charity Shop in Leyland. Postered around the outskirts of the Park at Public Footpaths so hopefully they will stay there, Leyland Lane Garden Centre have put poster on his main gate. There is only one area we feel left to do now until we get a hopeful sighting, but will be speaking to Julie about that. There should now be a far bigger spread of awareness of Badger out there so keeping everything crossed for positive news on Weds and positive sightings very very soon. Any further news will keep you posted. Andi and Skippy, if I missed anything out please feel free to add.
BADGER BOY
Iv never hoped and prayed as much in my life,Dreading Wednesdays news from networkRail, THANKYOU for continuing to help us, I dont think Badger would ever venture near to a railway line because he didnt like noises,BigBIG THANKYOU to those special people of whom know who they are XXXXXXXXX
Andi
We believe there have been sightings of Badger after the date that the body was removed from the railway line so we are not ready to give up and are out and about today postering - can anyone who has some time to spare please put posters around Leyland, Worden Park, Croston, Eccleston, Ulnes Walton, Bretherton and anywhere around there ...... please? We need to jog memories or prompt sightings having spent time focussing on a false lead - please can anyone help?? Thank you x
Mash
Thanks Annie for your efforts today, especially with the weather as it was. Much appreciate the support.
AnnieSparky
Just to say was out today putting posters up and handing out fliers....in Eccleston and along route back to Worden Park. Met lots of nice dog walkers who go to park and area frequently, gave fliers. They will keep a look out. The cafe is nice! The lady there is lovely, still has Badgers poster up and will keep looking out for him. Hope to get out again very soon......hes got to be somewhere :)
Mash
Will be sitting down with Julie later and get some DEFINITE information as some of the information that was orginally posted on DL by Julies friend seems incorrect. Once we have done that then we can take Julies lead on what she wants us to do. Keep you all posted so be looking out for an update real soonLast edited: 2012-06-02 18:22:40 by Mash
Andi
Seems there are two loose border collies in Coppull - one shorter hair called Prince who wanders and goes home - and another that we are still to account for - just getting CCTV footage now with him on. Will keep updating but in the meantime please keep looking in Coppull area, we need to confirm/eliminate either way to be sure. Thank you x
BADGER BOY
spoke to a couple of the locals and there is a skinny border that lives around there and is seen quite often wandering around coppull but goes home eventually x
AnnieSparky
Thanks again for all updates and info. How sad about that poor blue merle collie, words fail me how cruel some people are. Will be out and about searching over weekend. Fingers crossed x

Bumped due to the sighting in Coppull. See the below message from Andi, if anyone is in the Coppull area this weekend keep an eye out for this one, any info ring the numbers on the poster - thanks.
Andi
As we cannot get any further details about the Border Collie taken from the railway line in April until the authorities are back at work on Wednesday, we have to continue following up on other sightings reported - just in case. So this morning we are out again in Coppull as a skinny looking BC was seen there yesterday on Preston Rd/Spendmore Lane - can everyone please keep their eyes open as we need to eliminate this one from our enquiries, so to speak! Thank you x
Andi
Thank you Cassie - we have been informed today that a dog fitting Badger's description was found on the railway line at German Lane on 18th April but we have insufficient information to confirm for sure that it was Badger and when the suggestion came up that another collie had been found there we wanted to just check out such a strange coincidence. Thanks for the information and you are right, how can some people be so cruel?? x
Cassie BoJangles
Hi I'm Juju boss, the dog found dumped in German Lane was a small, starved blue merle border collie dead and stuffed in a bin bag by the railway, so defo NOT Badger, plus it was before April. I also have a blue merle and devasted that anyone could be so cruel. We are all keeping our eyes open and the whole lane knows about Badger so if he is seen we WILL let you know and if we catch him we will keep him safe for you. Cassie BoJangles
Juju
My boss sent me your number. I've just text you
Andi
Juju thank you so much for that and taking the time and trouble to text your boss - there are too many coincidences here that we cannot just ignore if we want to get to the bottom of the story - thank you x
Juju
I have just text my boss and asked her to contact you with more info on what her neighbour told her about dog found on railway. She's just replied to say she will contact you. Hope this answers a few of your questions. Good luck
Juju
Im only back down German lane on weds as I work down there. The first thought I had when I heard about the dog in the railway was the blue merl collie. I'm only aware of blue merls as my boss has one. If the man who sighted the dog isn't aware of different colours etc he might've just presumed it was badger. If the lady is not in. Try my boss as she told her about the dog she found. If you go under railway bridges. My bosses house is the first property on the left called the sidings. It's mrs wellum you need to speak with. She can perhaps give you more info as I only got it second hand. I can still call you if you like. But I think you need to speak to the 2 ladies first as they have more info than me
Andi
Juju thank you for this information - is it really likely that there would be two dogs at the side of the railway in German Lane within a matter of a few weeks?? This tale gets curiouser and curiouser and we will go visit the lady tomorrow to understand a bit more. Just been out driving around Coppull, just in case. We do know the sighting on 3rd May in Euxton wasn't Badger, we spoke to the elderly couple tonight - that was another lost collie called Flight. We will look into this further, not ready to give up yet - there is still too much that doesn't make sense. Juju, if you have a moment, could you call the mobile number on BAdger's poster please? Happy to call you back so text if you prefer? Thanks x
Polly
Thank you Skippy. I will try my very best and do all the areas suggested. Got treats and spare collar and lead.
skippy
Thanks too Polly x Coppull, Eccleston area I would suggest best.
skippy
Thanks for the info Juju, we will make sure we follow up.
Juju
Not sure if this helps. I work on German lane and one of the residents did find a collie a few weeks back. Unfortunately it had been dumped she thinks as it was in a bag at side of railway. She did say it was a blue merl collie. Maybe this was the same one the guy saw. If you need to speak with the lady she lives in big white house on corner of German lane and Lucas ave. hope this helps
Polly
I am travelling to the Lakes tomorrow, during the week I promissed to take a detour off the motorway to look for precious Badger and I promise I still will. My heart goes out to you and your family and friends, it's so difficult for you, your emotions must be all over the place. I agree Dogs lost site is quite simply amazing, with such dedicated members. I pray to find Badger safe and well, like you say you never know! I would just like to say thank you for always loving Badger, lot's of dog's would love to have you as their very best friend. x
BADGER BOY
After speaking to a couple of people and ive tried to ring the older couple whom im sure was a definate sighting, as they were up close to him, no reply earlier when i rang them, but it was later on when they sighted him, the 18th of april was to soon he was stll around leyland eccleston then im sure, so im not entirly convinced he was my boy, anyway guys i cant thank you all enough for helping us, youve been amazing and `doglost` is so unpublicised and it needs to be a household name for all us dog and animal lovers whom can help in someway in finding their way back home, and i would also like to make a donation to `doglost` for all the effort, ink, paper, postering, tredding pavements and fields, ps please keep your eye open whereever you are,you just never know, his ears would give it away, Luv you all
Andi
We are all very sad to have had the news today that a black and white border collie fitting Badger's description was found on the railway line at German Lane, Euxton a few weeks ago. The system stinks in as much as there doesn't seem to be any more information or records of the incident, but it would suggest that this might have been Badger. We will have to wait now until Wednesday to try and get any more information that will perhaps enable closure for his family. Until then we will explore the sighting today at Coppull, just in case, and keep our eyes open. We also have to respect the wishes of Badger's Mum if she is ready for the search to stop too. Thanks to everyone for their help and support and we will of course update xx
AnnieSparky
Thanks so much for the update and information. Will be up searching the area again, will have posters and fliers with me. Coppull sounds promising.
Mash
Hi Guys - just back and not sure where to start. Going to be a long message so bear with me. Coffee Cow and Skippy have been with me this morning since word of the railway incident. We have been to German Lane to check out possibiliies there. At the moment there is nothing confirmed from the Railway Network and to be honest dont think there will be. We have left a note asking for the guy to ring back again so we could at least check out the area concerned. During this we have had a call for a sighting at Coppull which we have followed up on. We have about 5 people confirming sighting, 1 says it wasnt Badger, 1 saying thinks and others say yes. And coincidentally, one of the guys we spoke to was Bossyboots husband who caught the one on Eaves Lane last night - he confirmed todays sighting was Badger. The motorcycle shop has CCTV and the guy has agreed with Skippy that when his daughter comes back he will rewind the CCTV and let us have a look. Unfortunately he doesnt know how to which is why we need to wait for his daughter. Me and Skippy went to the Pet Cemetry and in the last 2 months they have had numerous animals taken there that have been collected by the council but only 3 were dogs. so from there we then went to the council offices and spoke with a really nice guy who has Badgers details stored in his phone. He confirmed that nothing has been collected by them from the Rail Network and as a matter of course everything they collect is scanned. They all know about Badger there so if they had come across him we would know. He too confirmed that lasts nights dog on Eaves Lane was not Badger as he collected from Glencoe to return to his owner. One final drive down German Lane to check notice still there and on way back out a Border Collie was loose in the road, and then a girl appeared. Spoke to her and she knew about Badger and was keeping a look as she lost hers a couple of weeks ago from German Lane and walked itself to her Mums workplace next to the Euxton Mills Pub - so was that the sighting of the 18th ??? Honestly dont know what else to say and please Coffee Cow and Skippy if I have missed anything then please add comments to the post. Any further news from the CCTV will let you know.
bossyboots
Just an update on the border collie we found last night on eaves lane. The man has been in touch with the dog warden and I have spoken to the owner and the dog was called Benny and he was getting him home today and getting him microchipped.
bossyboots
Just had a call from my husband. He is convinced he has seen Badger this morning on Preston Rd Coppull, going towards Stavelys. He said soon after a man came to his works asking if he had seen this dog and showed him a poster of Badger. He said how weird that we found that border collie last night then this morning he saw one running loose and he said it did look like the dog on the poster but scruffy. He also said now he thinks about it he has seen it before in that area. He thinks it may have gone on Stavely's land.
Meru
Oh God I hope it's not Badger xx
Polly
Oh please God dont let it be Badger! I am praying for you with tears in my eyes and for the poor baby by the railway line. You have worked so hard to find him! x
Mash
I feel physically sick writing this but Julie has just received a call from a "genuine" guy that said he moved a Border Collie from the side of the railway in German Lane some 5 weeks ago. He was out rabitting, has just seen the poster. I have spoken to the Rail Network and been informed that it is unlikely they will have a log of this if it was more than a week ago. I am praying to god its not Badger but from the description Julie received from the guy it does sound likely. I am waiting for a call back from the Rail Network within the next hour to see if they have anything
BADGER BOY
the collie found i dont think is our Badger, seems like on desciption the young guy said that he didnt have a lot of white around his neck and chest,I will ring Glencoe kennels in the morning this is where they took him Thankyou Everyone So Much XLast edited: 2012-05-31 23:43:26 by BADGER BOY

I showed the dog warden the dog lost photo of Badger and expained to him that the search for Badger was in the eaves lane area which is why I picked this dog up. The dog was all black around his neck and only small white on his face.
Andi
Thanks for posting bossyboots - we are gutted as were hopeful on that one and Mash has just spent 3 hours trawling around the canal path etc there but thanks for letting us know. Badger's Mum is just going to ring Chorley to be on the safe side and settle in her own mind that it wasn't him. C'mon guys, help us out here please? Twitter, Facebook, print the posters and give us another sighting?? Thank you x
bossyboots
I just want to say that I found a border collie tonight on eaves lane, he looked like he was looking for someone so I shouted Badger and he came and jumped in the van and then wouldnt get back out. Unfortunately it wasnt badger because he had too much black so I took him to the vets to see if he was microchipped. He wasnt, so I rang the dog warden, he came and again scanned him but no chip so sadly he had to take him. I couldnt keep him because I have 3 dogs but he was lovely. If anyone else in the eaves lane area is missing a border collie, hopefully they will contact the dog warden. Sorry it wasnt Badger.
skippy
no problem Jan....Mash has emailed them onto me this morning...will hopefully get some printed later on.

Would be great if Kez could tell us more about Eaves Lane sighting. Managed to have a drive down after work tonight, couldnt stay as long as I would have liked to....but will be down again as soon as possible. Unfortunately, no Badger today but some amazing work today by you guys (sorry couldnt be with you)....great about Lanc Eve Post and Chorley FM....C'mon Badger x
Mash
Hi Kez. Desperate to get some more info on the sighting at Eaves Lane. Please can you call me ASAP. Thanks
Andi
Team Badger are working hard today - loads of new posters gone up (thanks Kyp & Jayne) and the Lancashire Evening Post newspapaer are going to do a story on Badger (positive power of Twitter rather than last year's riots - Badger has 575 followers and 350 in his FB group) and I met the presenter from the Chorley FM breakfast show today, so Badger will be on the radio again tomorrow. Please let all this publicity bring him home this week - C'mon Badger, we're doing our best mate xxx
Andi
Kez - can you please give us a call or text us your number on the mobile that ends 604 please and we'll call you back so that we can get some more detail from you re Eaves Lane? Thank you x
Andi
Sorry guys, false alarm at Bamber Bridge - we found the loose collie that apparently is local and does "wander" (?!?!?!) - so not Badger I'm afraid. The positive is that lots of people in Bamber Bridge now know about Badger, we met one of our Twitter friends who came out in her apron with a sandwich in one hand and a lead in the other, we met Amanda off FB, we met two lovely guys from NW Animal Rescue and today we have reunited two collies!!!! Sadly not Badger!! What it does tell us though is that our poster campaign is working as the original sighting came from a lady who had seen a poster so let's hope it's just a question of time. So much for me getting some work done today - I've been running around Bamber Bridge like Challenge Anneka!!! Come on Badger, I'm too old for this xx
AnnieSparky
Just spoke to Andrea, they are busy searching at Bamber Bridge right now. Will come down after work to help, unless I hear good news before, fingers crossed.....xx

Heading towards railway on Station Road people searching more if free welcome. xx

Can anyone get to Station Rd Mounsey Rd Bamber Bridge right now?? Sighting of collie fitting Badger's description near Early Days nursery, couldn't get near him - growled - but looked dirty and unkempt - can anyone help? We are heading over there now x
skippy
Hi kez - I have just texted Mash with this info.....could you please give him a call on the mobile listed please.....or text him your number - I'm sure he will call you back to discuss details. Thanks so much for the info and for looking out for Badger :)
kez
Hi i saw your poster and thought i would let you know i saw a dog just like him on eaves lane chorley at around 4:30pm yesterday...
I hope this is helpfull for you and i hope you find him.
AkitaTaz
Julie, don't give up on hope xx He has been out there for a good few weeks and the last sighting was 18.5 which was less than 2 weeks ago. It has been very warm, too warm for him to be around during the day. I am sure that now it has cooled down he will show his gorgeous face. If the people that have sighted him haven't been able to catch him then I am sure that nobody else will have. We won't give up looking ( I am still looking for Brook 13 months after he disappeared )
Polly
There are lots of eyes out there looking for Badger. He will have been resting throughout this heatwave and coming out at night. Now it's cooling off I am sure there will be more sighting's and then that wonderful reunion to his loving home. x
AnnieSparky
Badgerboy, it must be so difficult for you. Hopefully we'll have another sighting soon but to cover all possibilities such as him being stolen I wonder should we inform Preston/Leyland Police and get a crime number, am not sure how it works really. We'll keep searching for him, posters are going up in Southport (another friend helping) and Ormskirk too as you never know...word of mouth. If someone has taken him, so many people being aware of him could be very unsettling. Hopefully though we'll see him home soon x
BADGER BOY
I have convinced myself that someone has got him as hes not been seen for nearly 3 weeks, and also he is not castrated, awful word lol, but I think someone may know we are all looking for him, perhaps sold him on, but he would be good to breed off as he lovely markings, spotty front legs and the tips of his ears are like a mosaiced effect of black and white, but with the help of brilliant folk whom are trying there best to find our Badger I hope that we one day will bump into him somewhere X Im starting to give up hope
Mash
Had a phone call back from The Highways Agency who confirmed they have checked the surrounding Motorways (M6, M61 and M65) and nothing sighted. So from that point of view its good news. Has now been registered with them also.
Mash
Hi Guys - update on today while I am eating my salad - all this fresh air and walking has made me feel healthy, anyway, back to business. Met Coffee Cow this morning who is doing a fantastic job, thankyou so much. She also offered to post at the Pet Shop, Eaves Lane today so thanks for that. Went to Eaves Lane area myself and went through the underpass and disappointed to see someone had ripped the poster down and threw it on the floor so Heavy Duty Staple Gun and about 30 staples sorted that - now rip it down you little shit !!! Saw about a dozen walkers who were handed cards but unfortuantely not much around to poster, open fields and woodland. 2 lads with a Husky had seen the posters around Eaves Lane and said it was great Badger had Twitter - hopefully they will spread the word. Walked all through the woods to the housing estate around High Bank Road - will drive back there and poster all through (wasnt easy with dog in tow). Walked back via Baggenley Lane to the main road but came back through the woods. Cards to anyone that I saw. Poster has gone up at Station House Boarding Kennels on Coppice Lane and also Chorley Equestrian Centre on Chapel Lane. Added a couple more posters to Washington Lane, Euxton (although this had already been done).
Mash
Thankyou for your support Polly. Lets hope he is.
Polly
I am travelling to the Lakes on Saturday, so I will make a detour off the motorway and search for beautiful Badger. Hopefully he will be home safe and well by then. x

Badgers page has been bumped due to the possible sighting on the A6 (Fulwood/Broughton). Poster updated to mention the areas where the search is now concentrated.

Team Badger, you are doing an amazing job and the support you have on Facebook and Twitter is FANTASTC. Come on Badger, let them know where you are, its time to come home lad :)
AnnieSparky
Thanks for updates, good idea about pet shops. I have Badgers poster up in my car, and telling everyone about Badger, even people a little out the area......hope to be down again soon.
Andi
Just an update ....work done today includes posters at Fulwood and Broughton to go up, thanks ladies, and also getting as much publicity as possible eg hurst grange park (penwortham) cards given to dog walkers and posters there. Also posters now in penwortham library, spar (Liverpool rd) & C&M pet supplies (also Liverpool rd). Might be a good idea (forgive me if you've thought of it) for all to target their local pet shop? Will do the other library in penwortham tomorrow & have even put one in our front window..you just never know who's passing! HUGE thanks to Digger's Mum and AnnieSparky's friend and Dominique for their time and effort. Sighting on A6 yesterday of collie matching Badger's description (Fulwood./Broughton) hence we are now moving to cover Preston area to see if that uncovers any more.

Badger now has over 400 followers on Twitter, so if you have an account please also help @findbadger. Thanks guys - PRESTON is now also included in our search, Coppull I think can be eliminated now xx
Mash
Hi Guys - just an update. Have been out this morning around the Yarrow Valley Park area. Different entrance to the main one and handed cards to more dog walkers. Saw a fisherman who says he may have seen him a couple of weeks ago around the Washington Lane area, Euxton. Posted flyers on cars in car park (dog walker cars) and a van advertising dog walking services. Been in contact with Police who cover Broughton area (thanks AnnieSparky) and will post in message book. Also spoke with Leigh Cats and Dogs. Although they have a Collie in it is not Badger - not enough white. Contacted the Manager at the Mill (Red Herring)in Coppull, she said she will look back at the CCTV for me and ring me when she has done so. However, just had a delivery to the house and small world, but delivery lady was in Red Herring last weds evening (her local) and she too has said that the dog had more black. So subject to CCTV Coppull may really be a "Red Herring". She has taken flyer and will keep her eye out too !!!!
AnnieSparky
Hi Mash, sorry meant to txt yesterday. Just sent now. My friend has replied, will keep look out around Broughton and ask around. Hope we have good news soon x
Mash
Hi AnnieSparky - thanks for that. We hope so too !!. Not had a text from you yet ???
AnnieSparky
Have txted a friend who lives near there to keep a look out and will ask about posters. Just waiting to hear back. Hope this dog is safe. x
Andi
Does anyone live around Fulwood / Broughton area of Preston, near A6? If so, can you please put a few posters up in that area as a lady today saw a Border Collie there loose on the A6 near Broughton roundabout around 7.30am. Can anyone help us please? Thanks x
Mash
Been out and postered Charnock Richard Cycles - people out on bike rides could be a good help. Also Derby House which is an Equestrian Supplies - as Vicky said, horse riders too are good eyes
AnnieSparky
Andi and Mash, saw your poster up in the paper shop on Eaves Lane :) Had to buy more cellotape! Spoke to the lady in there who said she quite often saw dogs wandering around by the shop. I pointed out Badgers poster to her.....hoping she will ring the dog warden for any strays. Someone suggested to me its worth regularly ringing the Dog Warden to check (even if they have all details) as they dont always ring the owner straight away? Good idea about the business card size...will text you with email. Keeping fingers crossed x
Andi
Update; Mash & I have Been out for a few hours this morning and spoke to about 70 dog walkers, gave them all a business card with Badger's details on, see below. We covered Yarrow Valley Park main area, including fishermen who would be out and about early light.

Also did Euxton Cricket Club (match today), Birkacre Garden Centre on Birkacre Lane took posters and leaflets to put at the till and we gave cards to customers as they came into the car park.

We need as many people as possible to make his story known, so perhaps you can print a poster for your local shop or print the business cards and give them to other dog walkers when you are out with your own? All help is gratefully received. Thanks xx
Andi
Thank you also to The Moore Four - people who don't live locally but want to help could do the same - just cross post Badger's details to all online forums, sites, Facebook pages where you are members, any resource at all that gets his face known and his story out there - thank you x
Andi
Thanks AnnieSparky, that's exactly what we need, more publicity. We have made up business card size cards now to hand out with Badger's photo and details on - if anyone would like me to email them to them and you can print them off, send a text to the mobile number on the DOglost poster and I will email them to you. People have been putting them in their wallets, purses etc as they are easier to hang on to, and therefore to hand if there is a sighting. Please everyone keep up the good work to raise awareness? x
AnnieSparky
Out at 6am today with my pooch, drove through Chorley, Eaves Lane, had a walk and spoke to a few fellow dog walkers out and about.....more posters and fliers given. Went up Harpers lane and found route back to Euxton. Watching for him all the time. As you say, lots of awareness about Badger now. Fingers crossed for good news soon x
The-Moore-Four
posted onto Facebook bored collie sites and agility clubs, hope badger comes home soon :)
Mash
Been out and postered/leaflet dropped all around the Eaves Lane area where the sighting was. Spoke to a lot of really nice people with genuine concerns. Again, spreading the word. Poster in Newsagent on edge of estate too and done along the canal. Really hope its positive but it does seem a little out of pattern - however, there is now a knowledge in the area that Badger is missing
AnnieSparky
Disappointing news at the pub :(
So many people are aware now though, someone will see him again soon. Good luck today, what a fantastic job you are doing....sorry cant get over to help. Hopefully getting there tomorrow. x
Andi
We are out postering around Eaves Lane, Chorley today and would be grateful for any help in putting posters and leaflets around the Chorley area. The weather will bring people out today so we need to raise awareness as much as possible and try to get more sightings. Many thanks x
DogLostRiverlady
yes we are following @findbadger....and retweeting + circulating Badgers link. Stay strong.
jobadger
Oh poo Andi - I was so hoping this was it for you and team Badger! xx
Andi
Disappointing news I'm afraid guys. Despite having had 3 positive id's of Badger today, the lady at the pub who saw him has told Badger's Mum it was not Badger :((((( She says the collie that was there was more black and did not have all the white colouring that Badger has. Unfortunately though she had not brought the photo with her that was taken of him so Badger's Mum unable to see for herself. So disappointing as thought we were really on to something there :((((( So sorry it's not the news we all wanted. Well done to the guys who tramped the fields all day today - we need to focus now on the other sighting and poster that area over the weekend x
Mash
Julie and daughter at pub now. Have passed on all info we have found out today. Here's hoping and fingers crossed. Come home Badger
AnnieSparky
Thats brilliant news.....well done on all that hard work. So sorry I cant come up tonight. Unless I hear some great news (fingers crossed)the next time I can help is Sunday if anyone wants to meet. Hes getting closer xx
Mash
Hi. Badger already has a Twitter Account @FindBadger and many followers. ,!

So good to hear what's happening. I hope this gorgeous boy's home soon! Loved your 15.14 posting Mash! Good luck. xx
Mash
I know will have already been sent but I have DM'd the daugter of the lady who allegedly took the photo on Weds. Want to try and meet up and view photot to rule out or not as the case may be. Come on Badger you little bugger - show yourself !!!!!
Mash
Had a lovely text of someone today saying that have seen poster. Stored number in phone and will be on the look out. Treats and spare lead in their pocket all the time from now on - that was Back Lane, Euxton.
Mash
Have left the "scented" fleece at the pub. Didn't think it would still be wet !! - lol. On way back now. Keeping fingers crossed. If I need to cancel plans for this evening then please let me know ASAP and can be back at pub if needed. Fingers crossed still
Mash
We have postered through the walkways and houses and farms. Newsagent round corner from pub also Been done. Think also need to do along Coppull main road and around school. Will try and do later
Mash
Spoke to the guy this afternoon that fed him the crisps on Weds. Says definitely him and not any of the local dogs. He also said that there was definitely a photo taken by a lady called Julie who is the mother of the friend who's friend reported him on Twitter. Apparently they will all be in pub tonight so landlord and lady will speak to them. Need to get a sight of this photo to confirm 100%. Thanks to Vicky and Amanda for helping today. Good to meet such nice and willing people. Will be leaving the area in about 10 mins or so but there is a big awareness around here now so believe he will be grabbed if he appears again
skippy
All that said, we have to also follow up on the other sighting - is anyone able to help with posteringleafleting round the areas mentioned by Jackalee. I can come out again tomorrow if needed, but if there's anyone more local who's free to help...even better! :)x

Stay safe Badger...won't be long til we find you :)
skippy
Out with Mash this morning around the CoppullCharnock Richard area. Spoke to fishermen by the Red Herring and the pub landlord again. Things are looking pretty positive that this dog could be Badger. One of the fishermen I spoke to was 100% sure it is the same dog - described him as friendly, looked in good condition, but a bit thin.

Security guard at the Mill did tell us there is a local dog that looks very similar though....we spoke again to the pub landlord who also knows that dog, and was quite confident it wasn't him.

We followed the footpath up the side of the Enterprise centre through Row High wood (great place for a dog to be hiding out) up to Charnock Richard village. Leafleted the houses in Freemans Lane enroute - but the rest of the village - particularly those houses in Charter Lane, Southgates and Mere Fold with views over the fields still need doing.

Carried on up Delph Lane past Fishers Farm up as far as Roscoe House - spoke to lady at kennels on Delph Lane on way. She owns pet shop in Heskin(?) took a few leaflets - will spread word. She walks dogs(lots of them) in fields behind her morning and night, and doesn't think there is a dog in the fields around there, but will look out for him.

We met dog walkers, postmen, home owners and spoke to all - gave them leaflets...but lots of ground to cover if he is the fields. Hope he will come back to the pub soon...
DogLostJackalee (Kathryn) - Area Co-ordinator - Greater Manchester
Another possible sighting of Badger:

Twitter has brought another poss sighting, early hours Wed - Montcliffe Road, Baggenly Lane, Eaves Lane - canalwoodland behind Healey Nab - anyone know this area and can get posters leaflets there please??

Also a mention today on Chorley FM radio, bumped.
Mash
Right Guys - calling it a night. Busy day tomorrow and hopefully a good one. Will keep you posted as best we can during the day. Nite All

Thanks AnnieSparky for the message re the sighting. Good luck everyone one.

Bumped due to sightings. x
AnnieSparky
Oh really hope we're getting closer.....you are all doing a brilliant job. So sorry I cant make it tomorrow, but lots of luck to you......and will definately be up there looking again soon hopefully when you walk the route again too. Was thinkng it might be Sunday. Fingers crossed x
Andi
According to the guy at the pub, he reckons Badger was in their beer garden last night - Red Herring Pub in Coppull. He says if it wasn't Badger then he must have a twin as looked VERY like the dog in the poster. Looking on a map from behind the pub the fields go over to Charnock Richard where he was seen a few weeks ago near Town Lane, and then fields then carry on to Euxton where he was seen last weekend. Looks like Badger has been following the A49 from the fields. We will head over to Coppull tomorrow if anyone can join us and try to walk that route from the pub and hand out leaflets x
AnnieSparky
Am really hoping, fingers crossed x
Andi
Possible sighting last night in Coppull - off there now to get the guy who saw him to look at Badger's poster and see if it was him. Said he was wearing a collar but no harness so not sure - please people, pray!!! xx
AnnieSparky
Hi, just wondered if you had been out to any of the farms close to Worden Park? Sorry I dont know the area, but the man I was speaking to yesterday evening said there were alot of farms and fields with sheep at the back of the park. He did say he knew some of them and would ask around. Just thinking of all avenues. People talk of dogs doing triangles when lost (I'm learning!). Fingers crossed x
BADGER BOY
Thankyou so much everyone, theres just no sign of him, its a mystery X
Andi
No joy with the Avenham possibility though - thanks ladies for dashing over there - but we are on to the dog wardens to check it out and also a possible lead in the Coppull area that again we will pursue and am waiting to hear back from a lady who I spoke to earlier. Not long now Badger xx

Busy day with ladies postering and leafleting all over the area, thanks to you all, and Mash has made good progress with lots of places displaying posters and delivery drivers, postmen etc carrying leaflets for us. I have also been out tonight and leafleted German Lane at Euxton, also harassed all the fishermen at the fishing lakes there (how was I to now he was just about to land a fish, lol!!), and then started on Back Lane. Handed out leaflets to all dog walkers we saw. Been keeping twitter feed busy and Badger's account now has 90+ followers who are retweeting messages. New people asking all the time to join his Facebook page and following on Twitter. We will bring this boy home xx
CoffeeCOW
Coffee COW is always driving around Buckshaw Village / Euxton and is keeping her eyes wide open for Badger ....also spreading the word among the HERDS.... I speak to lots of dog owners when serving at the train stations in Buckshaw & Chorley so will tell them all ....

Sending lots of love & 'come home' Cow telepathy to Badger xxx
AnnieSparky
Am really hoping this is good news x
Mash
Thanks to the ladies for going to Avenham Park area in response to a text I received at lunchtime. I have just spoken with Preston Council who have asked for poster to be emailed to them (which I have done) and they will log with all the dog wardens. IF this was Badger and he was picked up, he wont be logged on the system til later today/tomorrow as the Wardens are generally out and about. Once again, thanks for all the help today and any more news will keep you posted
Andi
Euxton/Runshaw area is being postered today too, with schools at Euxton also being postered. Eccleston village shops etc are also getting leaflets and posters and other ladies also doing road from Longton heading in direction of Euxton. Lots of people are coming forward to help and we are grateful for that - PLUS Badger's twitter account has gone global with people as far afield as Spain and Australia sending good luck wishes and retweeting his picture - @findbadger if you want to follow. Come on mate, we need you to show yourself today x
Mash
With Eccleston Kennels - very nice people there and are aware of Badger. Have taken posters and flyers. They sighted Badger in the fields behind them on a number of ocassions in the first few weeks of Badger being missing. Said they tried t...o approach hime but everytime he ran off. Tried to approach with other dogs to see if he would come but still ran off. They also had phone calls from the Jousters at Camelot to say they had seen him and did they know about him. I think these a positive sightings and although not seen at the kennels for a few weeks am convinced that he his in the fields between there and Euxton. A mass of area for him to nesting down and then coming out for food - who knows !!!! Gut reaction at this moment in time is to concentrate on the fields from Eccleston/Heskin to EuxtonLast edited: 2012-05-24 11:35:12 by Mash

Have been to Heskin Hall Market and they have taken posters to put up on notice board and in window. Also took smaller flyers to put on ther advertising stand with the business cards etc. Been to Eccleston Kennels and will post after this with info. Been to Camelot and they have also taken leaflets and posters which they will put up on notice board and hopefully around the Theme Park too.
Mash
Just done the Bridal Path through the woods at Park Hall and put a few posters on posts (not trees) so entrances covered there. Will go to Heskin Hall Farmers Market and the Kennels in Eccleston. Will also go to Camelot at Park Hall and see if they will put some posters out. With nice weather and school holidays soon should be a lot of folk out
AnnieSparky
Thanks, its no problem. Just wish I could do more. Our dogs are so precious. Badger looks a strong boy, so hopefully it wont be long until hes sighted again. Will print more posters.Fingers crossed x
Mash
AnnieSparky. Thank you so much for doing that. It really is appreciated and hopefully with more of us now looking we will soon have him home.
AnnieSparky
Just back from 2-3 hours of searching. I drove down from ormskirk area kept a look out the whole route, driving as slow as possible(wasnt popular doing that!). Drove along Wigan Road and lots of other roads, stopped in Euxton, had a walk around then took a wrong turn into the train station car park....put a few posters up there anyway. Got to Worden Park, wasnt sure where to park but walked in from Parkgate Drive (I think).Walked right across fields, spoke to a man with 2 Labs who said he knew some farmers in the area and would ask around. Put poster on park sign. Hope to get back again soon.
Andi
Badger now has a Twitter account - @findbadger - so if you are on twitter, please 'follow' his account and retweet, retweet, retweet every message please!! Have been down the back lanes tonight and spotted a few places to explore further - Goldiemad, advice on routes across the field would be good, we are planning to try and walk from Town Lane (where he was seen early on) through to Euxton without touching the main road - so advice welcome!! Thank you x
AnnieSparky
Thanks Goldiemad, I for one might well need to ring but will see how I get on. I can only get there after work for a few hours but you never know.
Goldiemad
First can I say what a fantastic job you are all doing with the posters. I have spoken to Julie this morning giving her my telephone numbers as I am right in the area and free most of the time. If anyone wants advice on the area and routes across the fields give me a call.
AnnieSparky
Will be going to have a search this evening....starting at Worden Park. Have noted last sightings around Euxton (and postcodes for my sat nav!)and will try to look around there. Hope he's found very soon.
Mash
Lady from Booths has just phoned me back. There was a dog in the store, however it appeared to be with a gentleman. It was seen on the CCTV sat outside from 17.27 to 17.36 and a few seconds during that period did enter the store. No lead or... collar and appeared to have a bond with the guy as when they left the store he was alongside the man. He was wearing a red/orange t-shirt with bald head (thats the man by the way, not the dog). The CCTV will be kept for about 30days and IF anyone wants to view, they will have to go via the Security and fill out forms etc (Data Protection).
Mash
Have spoke with Booths this morning. They will be looking into it and calling me back. But I will chase if heard nothing also spoke with Richmond Hill Kennels - they have confirmed that they do not take in strays and that it would be West Lancs DW - so will ring them as well. Emailing poster to Richmond Hill anyway who have said they will put on noticeboard
Mash

Andi got a message that a dog had been sighted in Booths at Hesketh Bank this evening that fitted Badgers description so also went over there. Spoke to the Store Manager who has taken leaflets for notice board. He was not on shift at the time but spoke to the manager that was and seemed to be aware of something but was a bit confusing. Will ring tomorrow and ask if possible for them to check the CCTV. Spoke to a couple of local police patrolling the area. They too have taken a leaflet and will keep an eye out and said, for that area if he was picked up it would be Dog Warden in the Ormskirk area - so that needs checking out. Think that covers about it for tonight. Will try and post a map of the area where the leaflets were done, but just trying to work out how to do it ?? Last edited: 2012-05-22 23:02:06 by Mash

Also meant to say done along Balshaw Lane and replaced posters

UPDATE ON THIS EVENING - Just back in from being around Euxton. Have put leaflets in both the Euxton Mills Pub and The Talbot Arms - both are happy to display for us. Posted in Bargain Booze and the Spar shop also all the shops behind Talbot Arms. Sunbed shop has taken extra and will post around her area. The Chippy will link his facebook to Badger so all his contacts in Leyland and Preston (some 2000 people) will be notified. Done the housing estate behind The Talbot Arms, Highways Ave (upto No.56) Dale Ave, Pennine Ave, Talbot Row, Hawkshead Ave and Bredon Ave. Some 500 leaflets given out. Yarrow Park also handed out to Dog Walkers and a guy works in Tesco will post on noticeboard. A lady in one of the houses works for RSPCA and has taken leaflets too to give out.
skippy
I emailed half a dozen registered dogwalkers in the Chorley area with Badgers details and a copy of his doglost poster. One of them has already come back to say she has forwarded his details to all the dog-owners she knows in the Euxton area asking them to look out for him. Thanks Carolyn at Cold Noses :)

Have been posting and cross-posting on facebook wherever I can think of... have members of the 'Top places you can take your dog in Chorley and Beyond' group getting onboard with the search. They are spreading and sharing Badgers poster with their local friends. Come on Badger...word is spreading all we need now is for you to show yourself again! :)
AnnieSparky
So sorry I couldnt make it tonight but am hoping to get down there tomorrow evening. I dont know the area very well, is it best to go around by the pubs? Was going to have a look around Worden Park where he was lost. Fingers crossed x
Andi
Ready to hit Euxton with leaflets and posters, hope to catch dog walkers and people on their way home from work as well as then do the housing estates - if anyone is free to help, give us a shout - mobile number on the poster x
Mash
Just contacted Chorley Council Ranger Services. Have been asked to email all the details which I have just done and they will circulate and distribute to the right people.
Mash
I have just got back from collecting the 1500 leaflets so am good to go. Is anyone about tonight that wants to meet up to help. Will be looking at doing the estates around Talbot Arms - not sure how far 1500 leaflets will go !!!! (1500 houses I guess !!!)
AkitaTaz
OK Mash, will pass this info onto the girls when I see them tonight
Mash
Just given handful of leaflets to City Link driver. Covers Eccleston, Heskin, Coppull, Euxton, Buckshaw Village and he will give to his relief and the other guy that covers similar area
Mash
Akita Taz - totally agree. Do you know what time they are going tomorrow. If you have 100 leaflets I would suggest that they do around the Euxton Mills Pub side and I can do the larger housing estate by the Talbot Arms.
Mash
Have just got back from Euxton - Walked around Millenium Park and all through the woods. Handed out leaflets to whoever I saw and to be honest there seems to be quite an awareness in the area. Have got 400 x A5 leaflets at present so can make a start tonight - should be getting the other 1000 later on this evening. Will also update any posters that are around
Goldenfrodo
I have some contacts in the area, so will send Badgers's poster to them.
Hope he's safely home soon xx
AkitaTaz
I have printed 100 leaflets and 100 posters for the girls that are going down tomorrow. I think we need to coordinate which areas to do then people aren't duplicating areas already done x
Keep your chin up Julie. It can't be long now until we get another sighting and get Badger home x
Mash
Hi - will be getting about 1500 A5 flyers printed today and plan on doing the housing estates around the Euxton Mills Pub and Talbot Arms. Assuming I get them back today I will possibly be doing tonight. Off down that way now to have a look and walk the dog too !!!!
BADGER BOY

DogLostJackalee (Kathryn) - Area Co-ordinator - Greater Manchester
Info from Badgers FB group: Badger was last seen in the area of Dawbers Lane, Wigan Road and Balshaw Lane, at Euxton near Chorley. There is a lot of open space and fields in that area too. A couple of weeks ago he was spotted up at Town Lane near Coppull, but we think more recently he seems to be in and around Euxton. The two pubs are called Euxton Mills and Talbot Arms and are both within 5 minutes of each other. There are a lot of dog walkers in this area due to entrance to Yarrow Valley Park on Balshaw Lane and Millennium Green near Euxton Hall Hospital. If you have any information please call the mobile number on the poster, thanks.
Mash
GoldieMad - as you are also local, just to let you know that my mobile number has now been added to the poster - please take a note of it in the event of any news. Also, if you have facebook you may want to join the Facebook Group "Help Find Badger". Many thanks

AkitaTaz
I doubt that it is a hoax, he is just probably keeping himself well hidden. I have created a facebook group to help spread the word about Badger (Help Find Badger) and hopefully get a few more people in the area looking. Keep postering xx
Goldiemad
If you get a sighting, please feel free to ring me he appears to be right on my doorstep and I am free most of the time. The fields near Euxton Mills cover a vast area, depending on whether he went right or left he could end up in the fields at the back of my house. I will carry on asking around, but as yet he has managed to keep himself hidden from the locals.
BADGER BOY
hi,the source came from steve who was the man that unfortunately lost him on that day, but he couldnt give me the number of the couple who said rang him, And it could be just another hoax as iv spent all weekend searching fields, shouting, repeatedly going round and round on sunday from 8.30 in the morning till evening, absolutly nothing Yet, Thankyou for helping, it means such alot x
AkitaTaz
Do you think that the pub will put some food and some of your clothing out back for him? It may keep him in the area if he can smell his owners scent? It may be worth taking a portable BBQ to where he was seen and see if the smell of food will bring him out to you. Maybe that he is why he is near the pub if they sell food??
Mash
Badger Boy. The intention was for you to have my number and ring me if you had sightings so I can help look immediately. Am away this evening but will ring you tomorrow. More than happy to help where I can.
BADGER BOY
and also, to Mash, please ring me if you hear any latest news my phone is 01772 611013, Thankyou,,
BADGER BOY
I know, Great news, THANKYOU TO EVERYONE thats trying hard to help me and my daughter, its always just been just the 3 of Us, he came everywhere with us, loves going in cars, and would probably jump in one if coaxed, Now thats a thought, xxx
lesleyjane
So glad there are sightings and people are aware of Badger's plight, hope he is home soon.
Mash
Hi Badger Boy. Its still looking promising that he is out there - just being in the right place at the right time. If you would like, I can ring you and give you my mobile number and I am more than happy for you to call me in the event of a sighting. I am only about 5 mins from Euxton so would be more than happy to look. I do keep checking the area when I drive through and also around the Heskin Hall area where I know he was sighted before. Just let me know. Thanks
BADGER BOY
hi , We had a phone call this about 5.30 friday teatime, a young couple had seen Badger running towards the Euxton Mills pub, coming from charnock richard, then disappeared again after they tried to catch him, dont know which direction but he seems to be around the fields
Goldiemad
I am sure that if he was in the village someone would know something. The lady in the sunbed shop had definitely not seen him but she is going to keep a look out. Do you know if Hillcrest Animal Hospital in Chorley have been given a poster, if not it would definitely be worth giving them one as that is where he would most likely be taken if picked up.
BADGER BOY
Thankyou for ringing me, not sure if it was me that you spoke to as theres a couple of phone numbers on those posters weve put up, 01772611013 is mine, im Badgers owner along with my daughter of course but we are missing him so much, i think some one has got him, but youd think if they had they would take him to a vets, or ring the warden/police etc so now i suppose in thinking dark thoughts that something awefull has happened to him, X
Goldiemad
I live in Euxton, just behind the Talbot, I did actually ring you last week to let you know the Millenium Green you had had a call about was probably the one in Euxton.
I am out and about all the time and have been keeping a look out for Badger, but haven't seen him. I will ask the locals if anyone has, as he is in a very dog friendly neighbourhood and he would be noticed. Euxton is only a small village and word travel fasts. The lady who runs the sunbed shop is a puppy walker for GDBA and spends most of her day in the shop window, so if Badger had been around the shops I am sure she would have seen him. I will call in and see her tomorrow. I am really surprised that if he has been hanging around for a couple of days nobody has got hold of him.
BADGER BOY
`BADGER` was last seen by a couple who were met by Badger as he was with a girl, they told her that it was a lovely dog, but replyed saying `It Wasnt Her Dog, It Just Keeps Following Me` BADGER would of been stooped and wiggling his bum as he always did when approached and he would of been wanting to be caught i think, i do think he would of been tired of running by now, and sorry its a long mesage, BADGER was last seen outside the shops behind the `TALBOT ARMS` Pub in EUXTON a week last THURSDAY Nearly 2 Weeks ago the 3rd of May x
BADGER BOY
What a Big letdown GMTV was this morning, they only mentioned a couple as you probably know, wont be watching that any more,

This Morning

This Friday we’re intending to feature an item on missing pets. So if you’ve lost a pet, or think you’ve had one stolen, let us know and we might be able to feature them in our missing pets gallery. Email thismorning@itv.com with some good shots of your missing pet and a few details that might help: when you last saw your pet, any distinguishing marks, habits or characteristics. Maybe it was wearing a particular collar. We need your emails by 5.00pm Thursday the 10th May.
AkitaTaz
I have put Badgers info on the Doglost North West Facebook page, there are over 1000 members so hopefully some members will re-post on their wall and help get his details out there xx

Hi Badger was seen around the shops near the Talbot Arms but not sure which side of the road he was on, trecked through the estate, princess way, kings way empress, fields at the back but this was last thursday when he was seen, wether someone has him that we dont know, we are now postering around that area, it just needs someone to hold on to him. He could of gone further into chorley or back to eccleston we he has done many times, thankyou so much for helping xLast edited: 2012-05-09 07:51:12 by BADGER BOY

Hiya, whereabouts in Euxton was he last seen? I'm watching the page & ready to help if/when I can. My Parents live just down the road from Euxton & I know the area pretty well. If you need some help postering, just let me know & tell me where. If you get lots of posters out there you'll get sightings called in & we can narrow down the areas he's sticking to. The posters really do work as it enables you to track movements. Praying for his safe return home.xxx
AkitaTaz
Julie if you can get posters around that area then please do. I know everyone on here says that but they really do work xx Glad to hear that Badger is still out there. Dont give up, dogs are very adaptable when they need to be x
BADGER BOY

Hi i have left you a message. Unfortunately it wasnt me that found the collie on the dual carriageway. I found the info on pet forum. I am sure if you register on there and look under dogs lost and found you should be able to get in contact with the finder. I think their name was Poll. Best of luck in finding Badger xx
BADGER BOY
If anyone does see him I need to mention he has spotty legs at the front and the tips of his ears are almost mosaic-like black/white, large tip of white on the end of his tale, and hazel eyes, thanks
BADGER BOY
had an hurrendous couple of days, Steve had a phone call by a male of whom didnt sound like some kid messing saying `ive got your dog, it in my mums bedroom, then the phone went dead, Steve then rang texted him back apologising for bad signal, The man then changed his reply to saying hed seen Badger on Millenium Green, but where was this, My daughter then went on google earth and there was two Millenium Greens, one in Eccleston and one in Mawdsley. We then set out steve going to the green in eccleston and me going to mawdsley, Nothing. Steve rang him again and again each time there was either a bad signal or he kept hanging up or changing his tale when asked where the dog was he then came out with Its not here, something about `Circumstances` of why he wasnt there, Steve decided to call the police, We met them tonight He said it was probably a hoax, idiots becouse the man said to the policeman when he rang that his mate had borrowed his phone and he was from bamberbridge, but why would he say about this millenium green if he lived in B,bridge, Anyway friends theres been no sightings or calls from anyone now for 2 weeks, just gotta keep hoping for a miracle now, Julie x

Thanks Badger Boy for registering and posting an update. Posters are the key to getting sightings, go as far afield as you can and ensure you mark any sightings/timings on a map. I have emailed the Scenting Instructions to Steve. Good luck. x
BADGER BOY
Hi A Big Thankyou to Steve for finding this website and to all whom are concerned about our Badger, IF anyone does try and catch him he has never bitten before but being frightened im not sure, but I woulnt think he would become aggressive, He should still be wearing his harness of which he hates wearing, and a good way of knowing if its badger is that he has very unusual ears tipped almost mosaic looking black and white. Came back from searching town lane area of coppull, Park Hall and did as the crow flies back to worden park at around 10 last night as near to the farm fields as I could but nothing, need another sighting, Thankyou again to all
