Brilliant. So glad it all worked out well.
My guess is that after 24hours of rest and food, Poppy will be back to normal, Whereas everyone else will still be getting over it. Nx

Best news ever, LostWhippet - I guess you will all spend the rest of Bank Holiday weekend catching up on your sleep and getting the heart rate back down again! All the best to you and Poppy.

Wonderful news - Poppy found this morning and all well. She is now back at home. She was found in a garden in Sneyd Park and the owner was able to shut her in. He couldn't get close to her but had seen the posters and got the number... many thanks to everybody for their help, support and advice and we will now volunteer ourselves

I am busy today, from mid morning to mid afternoon, but am planning to do some more postering in Sneyd Park area this afternoon. I have a gut feeling that, with no further sightings, she may have gone to ground around where she was last seen. I do so hope there is some positive news today.
JP
shared on FB. will be around that area on Monday if Poppy is not found by then but fingers crossed she will be.
dinkydoodle
Yes I have your number nicky :-)
Thank you all of you for driving around the area and putting up posters. So sorry there has not been a sighting today. I'll be available on Monday if you need any help. Stay safe Poppy x
whippetlady
I agree, Nicky - I too have driven round the maze of roads to the left of Stoke Hill/Druid Hill, and then over to Kewstoke Road and Parrys Lane. Unless she wants to be seen, there is virtually no way you could spot a blue whippet while driving around. Another sighting is essential to give us a clear idea of where she is operating. I spoke to a couple of people in Mariners Drive and they had not seen a whippet at all in the last couple of days - but that doesn't mean she isn't there somewhere! Interestingly, I spoke to a friend who lives in Rockleaze and walks her whippet-cross on the Downs at least once a day, and she had not seen a poster at all - I have given her LostWhippet's phone numbers, but maybe there are still gaps in the postering - will try to get out again tomorrow, but still hoping that there will be definite news soon.

Been out and driven all around Redland, Stoke Bishop and the Downs - unfortunately it's a bit like a needle in a haystack. We could do with another sighting.
If she is spotted, call me and I will go straight out. In the meantime I will go out again tomorrow and take some posters with me.
LostWhippetBristol
Been out most of the day and out again later - many thanks for all your help and support. No sightings today so far - have started to poster Sea Mills, Coombe Dingle, Henbury area but will do more tomorrow there also. Just spoken to Eleanor and thank you again for the advice and information. Thanks also Dinkydoodle for the information sheets are very helpful. thanks Peta
nickyc
Jayne, I'll leave my number with the office. I can go out really quickly if need be.
nickyc
I will also go and have a drive around the Sneyd Park area around tea time.
I have only caught up with this but there do seem to be pleanty of posters.
I am around this evening and tomorrow afternoon. whippetlady has my mobile and so should dinkydoodle, just phone if you want back up.
whippetlady
She's been on the run for 5 days, so she will be tired, frightened and probably hungry. Let's hope she's found somewhere she can rest, rather than being constantly on the run. The more she is running scared, the less chance anyone (including owners) has of actually catching her. Stoke Bishop is an area of big houses with big gardens, so she just might get herself into a situation where she can be cornered. I have driven around Stoke Hill and Druid Hill a few times in the last couple of days, and there are so many side roads and long drives that there isn't a hope in hell of seeing her unless she is on a main road. I saw lots of posters around, though, so there can't be many residents in that area who are not aware that she is on the loose. If she stays in the area, rather than moving on again, that would be a bonus.Last edited: 2012-05-05 16:16:14 by whippetlady

No more sightings since yesterday I'm afraid. Friends out searching with us today and putting up posters further afield...
whippetlady
Any updates on her whereabouts, LostWhippet? Is she still around Stoke Bishop?
LostWhippetBristol
thank you that would be great...

OK - I am around over the weekend, so if you need any help please phone and I can hopefully turn out and give you some backup if you need it (you have my number - I spoke to you earlier in the week - I am Eleanor).
LostWhippetBristol
Many thanks for your offer of help - we have put posters up in the area today so think ok for now. We are getting lots of responses to the ones so far so fingers crossed...
whippetlady
Gosh - she's moving around isn't she. Are there any posters up in Stoke Bishop/Sneyd Park area, or do you need some put around there?
LostWhippetBristol
We have seen Poppy on the downs from a distance and she was last sighted 20 minutes ago heading down Stoke Hill away from the Downs (top of Stoke Bishop BS9 area)....

LostWhippetBristol
Report received of Poppy crossing from Bristol Zoo into the woods on the edge of Clifton Downs at 13:00 yesterday...
LostWhippetBristol
Many thanks for all your help and support - we have had a couple of sightings Wednesday night near Cambridge Arms (Coldharbour Road) and the Quadrant but none since. We know a few people have come close to catching her but she is obviously very nervous and run off - so close... we keep searching
whippetlady
Yesterday evening I walked my two whippet boys all around the area where she has been sighted - the houses around Redland Green all have flourishing gardens and there is no shortage of places where a whippet could hide. Hopefully one of the local residents will come upon her when she is out and about - I will keep watching on here, and am walking around with an extra lead in my pocket, just in case!
