What a great result!

Brando was caught by the trap last night. It was wonderful driving to the cage and seeing him sitting there calmly waiting to be rescued. He was very thin, full of ticks and mosquito bites but very calm and happy (tail wagging) to see us, specially my dog Mary. I wrapped him in a blanket and he snored all the way home in my lap. We will work with him and care for him for a few weeks and then start looking for a forever home for him. He is a lovely boy that adores his cuddles. If anyone is interested in adopting Brando please let me know. All my love and gratitude to everyone. Katia

Excellent news! Viv is very good with nervous dogs and was instrumental in catching a rescue lab that had holed up near Sainsbury's a few month's back. Everything crossed for you this weekend. Hoping to see the lovely Brandon in the blue very soon xxx

Thats good news about the sightings...and Viviene is a good dog warden...above and beyond the call of duty...
Caroline28
Am thrilled there have been sightings, all fingers and paws crossed here. Will stay away too but can be around to help if necessary. Will check in to DL.
Linda Tanner
That sound really promising. We will stay away unless we see a message asking for help. Good luck with the cage trap.

The article in the Chichester Observer brought us dozens of phone calls. We have been following the leads from these phone calls and ended up on a farm near Goodwood where we think Brando is spending loads of his time in the past few days. The last sighting was earlier today. Viviane, our dog warden, has helped us set up a trap cage for Brando. We will be monitoring the cage in conjunction with the farmer and Viviane.
We want to take advantage of the quiet weekend on the farm and make sure Brando feels very comfortable and stays there until he is seduced by the food in the trap, so we have asked our friends not to search the area any more in case Brando is scared into a new area. Thank you for all your support. Katia

Walked around graylingwell today. No sign, spoke to the caretakers at chi uni they were not aware. Apart from graylingwell I haven't seen any posters, unfortunately I can't print any off I think this is key though. Can anyone print and extensively poster around Chichester?
Linda Tanner
Steve's going to do the Graylingwell area again later this afternoon. It's a good idea if searchers have some dried dog food ready to cast out should he be seen. It might stall him and make him easier to catch, or at least let him know that's a good place to return to if he runs off before he's caught. It helped us with getting Megan back recently.

I take it the Chichester Dog Wardens have been made aware!

I have alerted my husband and son who work for local council to keep a look out for him.

Good luck hurry back Brando and stay safe on those roads out that way xxxx

Thank you so much for all your support and many thanks to Jo from the Chichester Observer for printing an article with a big picture of Brando in today's paper. Paws crossed that we will get more sightings. We will then try the Scent trail back to my in-laws house in Caledonian Rd. We have done a thorough search yesterday after the vet's phone call, climbing into bushes and undergrowth and peering into every possible hiding place in Oaklands Park, the squash club, Festival Theatre, and College Lane.

I am very often all around that area dog walking early so will certainly be on the lookout tomorrow.

Tx Linda and everyone..its really appreciated...

I drove around the roads from Fishbourne to Chichester and then walked up Centurion Way as far as Brandy Hole Copse yesterday. Today (early evening), I drove around the Graylingwell Estate and all the roads up to Lavant and across to the Goodwood Estate. Graylingwell Park looks an obvious place to hole up. If anyone finds Brando, the technique which Doglost advised us to use when we lost our Beagle a couple of weeks ago was to crouch down or lay down on the ground so that you are at the dogs level. Don't make direct eye contact. Make wimpering noises rather than calling Brando. This certainly worked for us. The dog soon became curious and slowly came up to us. I will look again tomorrow between Graylingwell and Goodwood.

I walked across the playing fields and around Graylingwell today, no sign but didn't see many posters either. University should be made aware and all the lamposts in that vicinity. My sister works at graylingwell for the NHS so will send a poster to her. That's some distance he covered but plenty of residential areas, hopefully he will be spotted

Have put Brando on twitter + will circulate.

So glad he has been sighted. Good luck how far from your mother-in-laws to where he was sighted? The problem the last fosteres had was getting the garden gate closed when he came in the garden to eat. If its too far for him to know his way back, does anyone have any ideas on coaxing him back? He will not approach people even when he knows them.

So pleased that you have had a sighting!it is possible that Brando could have got into the fields behind the school or Graylingwell off of College Lane and made his way onto Goodwood airfield and then onto the Goodwood Estate - plenty of cover and rabbits there; or he could have gone up to Brandy Hole lane and onto the Centurion Way and back to Fishbourne, these dogs often travel in a triangle and at least we know part of Brando's seeing as he was seen heading along the A27 to Fishbourne on the day he went missing. I know a dog walker that walks these area's 2 or 3 times a day and he has just told me that he will look out for Brando. I really, really hope that you find him very soon xxx

We just received a call from a veterinarian surgery in Chichester to let us know that an elderly lady saw Brando on Friday (4/May) by College Lane in Chichester.
Brando came up to her dog, sniffed him and them ran away. He had his lead still attached, she didn't make anything of it. When the lady took her dog to the vet today she saw Brando's poster and recognised him. She is deaf so she asked the Vet to phone us.
We are on our way to search around the area.

This morning tv programme have posted this on their website....

This Friday we’re intending to feature an item on missing pets. So if you’ve lost a pet, or think you’ve had one stolen, let us know and we might be able to feature them in our missing pets gallery. Email thismorning@itv.com with some good shots of your missing pet and a few details that might help: when you last saw your pet, any distinguishing marks, habits or characteristics. Maybe it was wearing a particular collar. We need your emails by 5.00pm Thursday the 10th May. http://www.itv.com/thismorning/life/reuniting-lost-pets-with-owners/

Brando ran off on Wednesday (2/May) afternoon while being fostered by my parents-in-law right at their back gate in central Chichester. There has been only one sighting by the police on Wednesday evening on the A27 between the Fishbourne and Stockbridge roundabouts. Because there has been no sighting since Wednesday we don't know where to look specifically, so we are looking everywhere and asking anyone in the area to do the same. Please note that Brando is very nervous so DO NOT TRY TO CATCH HIM, he will just run further away. Please phone me right away 07788 454292 if you spot him. Thank you for all your support. Katia

Whereabouts in fishbourne? I live in Chichester and I may be available to help look at some point this week?
Linda Tanner
We're willing to help search - where exactly was he lost and where would you like us to search. We're in Chidham. Having lost and found our beagle recently, have you tried the scent trail advice available from Doglost? It worked for us.

I think this is the same dog that went missing near Haywards Heath in April, again with the flexi lead still attached. Dog ID ref.38514 - perhaps Hattie whose tel. no. is under the above reference could advise how she managed to catch him. In the nicest possible way when he is caught maybe he could be walked with two leads attached, either two on the harness or a collar and lead as well then if one lead gets yanked from your hand you will have back up with a second, just a thought which may help as he is obviously very nervous. With all good wishes for a swift and successful outcome.

Where was he last seen and is he new to the area?
