- Thank you for the update Ebbymay. I appreciate the extra info. I have shared her on twitter and my friend is from Blackpool so shared on his page. I hope she gets a good home too.

- I don't really understand what's going on Reggiemollieros, the vets who listed her said the people that found her wanted to keep her but she was taken by the dog warden, the kennels they took her to said they are keeping her once her 7 days are up, I think it's someone that works there but I thought the finder would have the first choice on keeping her, unless its the same person and she works at the kennels, who knows, I'm confused........ I just hope that she gets a good forever home whoever keeps her!

- Yes ebbymay I saw that but did not understand. Keeping her? Do they mean keeping her to rehome after 7 days or keeping her as their own pet? Is that allowed? I thought there were procedures to follow.

- reggiemollieros, The kennels informed me that if she isn't claimed they are keeping her.

- Email in admin tosay this is not a xolo but a chinese crested...

- I agree ebbymay, it's frustrating. I hope someone can keep an eye on her after the 7 days are up if the owner is not found. I have trawlled the internet for any one posting her as lost on free ads etc. Nothing so far.

- I have taken in lots of strays, I always keep hold of them if possible whatever the breed but cresteds especially should not be in kennels, there were lots of offers of help for this girl so it was unnecessary for her to go into kennels.

- I thought if there was an offer of a foster home with permission of the dog warden you can keep a found dog for 28 days whilst the owner is searched for? I guess the offer was not from the finder and they did not compromise. It does seem a shame if the kennels are full to bursting to have put her there with offers of a home. I know they are not as delicate as they look but a true hairless needs special care for their skin. I hope that she has a loving owner looking for her and if not that she is handed over to breed aware rescue to make sure she goes to the right home. I know I sound precious but having a rescue crestie myself it is a subject close to my heart. Not that I don't try just as hard for every dog on here. I would have thought her owner would have come forward by now.

- There are several xolo people on facebook who have seen this and say it isn't a xolo.

- Have informed the secretary of the Mexican Hairless (Xolo) club who kindly sent this reply;
I am not aware of any Xolo puppies born recently that looked like this, I will get in touch with a couple of people and let you know, thank you for sharing it with me. - 2012-05-10 10:56 ebbymay
- Just wanted to add the dog wasn't put into kennels by the vet centre.

- So sad that this little girl has ended up in kennels despite the breed clubs offer to put her into a foster home, if she isn't claimed in 7 days the kennels are keeping her, I hate to see these dogs in kennels, so unnecessary with all the offers of help.

- I am the co ordinator for the Chinese Crested Club of Great Britain Rescue, this little girl does not look like a mexican and looks like a true hairless crested, possibly polish lines, many true hairless do not have much furnishings, difficult to tell from the pic but she looks adult if she is a crested, a lot of adults have teeth that are "puppy" like.

- Thanks guys :) reggiemollieros, it doesn't take much to confuse me, so don't worry about it lol. I've been so tempted to change it but then changed my mind again. I too think it could be a cross or think its more likely in this country to be a cc as not many xolo breeders over here - so I'm doing a really good job of confusing myself too!! :))
- 2012-05-09 22:49 reggiemollieros
- Sorry Jackalee I did not mean to confuse you. As Runfold Eddie says the general consensus is Mexican hairless. I just wondered if she was a CC cross because there have been quite a few crosses turning up on those free-ad sites. I am sure whoever is looking for her would look under all the headings for hairless breeds. I do hope she is reunited soon.

- The general consensus of opinion is that for a crested it would have more hair on it, plus the head is wrong. It's a Xolo.(Mex Hairless) Dog people think so anyway. And it's the first breed I thought it was.

- Getting very confused on this one reggiemollieros!!! I've been told by one of the cc forums its a xolo aka mexican hairless. They are so similar like you say but don't cc's usually have more hair on their head and ears at this age?? There can't be that many breeders of either of them that have had pups in the last few months. Someone somewhere must be missing this little one :(
- 2012-05-09 18:52 reggiemollieros
- I would say Chinese Crested or a cross with a Chinese Crested but they are so close to look at it is hard to call. I was hoping this might be Eva missing from Scotland last August but she is chipped and the colouring is wrong. I have a Chinese Crested and have shared on my wall. Quite a few of my friends have them too. I hope she is reunited soon.

- The vets have this dog down as a chinese crested but I think its a mexican hairless. Please correct me if anyone thinks otherwise, I'm no expert on toy breeds.
